Excellent location for stargazers, and tranquil walks
Catherine is an amazing hostess.
Warm welcome on arrival.
Very helpful with carrying our baby up to our room in his car seat.
Provided a travel cot, and froggy 🐸 for our little man.
Knowledgeable of the history of The Old Rectory, and the surrounding area.

- Jacqueline (10/5): Tranquility in Wales. - Catherine, the owner was so welcoming and even got her daughter to set up my new speaker on my phone when I was having difficulties.
The room I stayed in was warm and comfortable, perfect for a peaceful night's sleep. There was a lounge for guest use with a log burning fire where I could sit and read.
The breakfast was delicious. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Rebecca (10/5): Excellent, will definitely return if in the area again - excellent communication on safely reaching property as i was staying during the snowy weather nothing!
- Graham (9/5): Fantastic stay at The Old Rectory - Everything about our stay at The Old Rectory was brilliant.
Our room was perfect, clean, tidy, everything we needed for an overnight stay, celebrating my partners birthday.
The old house in general was beautiful, as were the grounds and gardens, I was very impressed.
An unforeseen added bonus was the stream rushing by the property, very relaxing to hear the water.
Our hostess, Catherine was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Cooked a lovely breakfast for us both on Sunday morning.
Thank you for our stay.
Graham & Clare. There wasn't anything we didn't like about our stay. If there was one thing to say, it would be that the cold water tap in bathroom was loose when you turned it, just needs tightening.
- Daniel (10/5): Very restorative stay, really helpful host. Top notch - Lovely old building, comfortably appointed and very helpful host enabling me to wash and store our bikes and camping gear, set us a loverly fire, made us a very tasty dinner and a great packed lunch for the next day -
- David (9/5): Lovely B&B in super quiet rural location short drive from Ruthin. - Lovely quiet country location. Our host, Catherine was very friendly and provided lots of maps and guides for our walking. Lovely comfortable room and beds. Great breakfast. A bit more light in the bathroom would be good.
- Lynn (10/5): A lovely, peaceful location. - A lovely location for a break. It was so peaceful. We didn't hear a sound after dark.
We parked at the house, and were made to feel welcome. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent. There was plenty of choice, and contained good quality ingredients.
Meals for lunch and evening are all within a few minutes drive. We used the community pub about 5 minutes away, although it doesn't serve food several nights a week.
It would certainly be a B&B that we would return to. Nothing....
- Lesley (10/5): Outstanding host - Catherine was so helpful with leaflets and maps of places to see in the area. Wish her family well and daughter Katie on her new adventures. The breakfast was outstanding. Room very clean with good facilities ie..kettle, cups etc.
Would really recommend. Catherine is a outstanding host and will try and accomedate all your needs . Thankyou Only advice , it was dark when arrived and lost phone signal. Would recommend to print map first.

- Glennis (9/5): Recommend this lovely B&B -
- Bahram (10/5): Exceptional -
- Huw (10/5): Will be going back. - Beautifully situated, very well kept. Also very peaceful. The food was very good as well, especially the home made marmalade! I particularly appreciated the flexibility of the owner in letting me take a business call at 10am every day to keep in touch, even though I was on holiday (I did check with her in advance that it would be OK and she really did go out of her way to accommodate me - but not everyone would have done.) Well situated for all the Clwyd area, which is an undiscovered gem - it's literally in the heart of Clocaenog Forest and close to Llyn Brenig, Ruthin, Bala, Llangollen, Chester, Rhyl... If I had to nitpick, the roads to it off the main road from Ruthin to Cerrigydruidion are extremely narrow. Don't drive along them fast! But when you get there it's so worth it.
- Vytaute (10/5): Wonderful! - Lovely home, incredibly clean! The breakfast was amazing too - all locally sourced. Catherine was so helpful, very sweet, very informative! We loved everything.

Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't get to fully appreciate the locality but clearly this wasn't a fault of the accomodation!

All the facilities are nice and clean and fresh as well tasty breakfast fills up on energy for starting a day. The room we stayed is spacious and we enjoyed it very much!
- Martyn (10/5): Escape - Lovely location, very quiet and scenic.
Very friendly and welcoming.
- Howard (10/5): - This is an excellent B and B. Clean, quiet, safe, affordable and comfortable. It is a bit remote, in a little village, so do take care when driving to it. Our Driving app directed us through some single lane, gravel roads because that was the shortest way. But you don’t have to do that, as we discovered.

- Abigail (9/5): Beautiful place to stay; excellent breakfast! - Lovely room - very clean and bright. Breakfast was lovely and I liked that there were a lot of local products used in the making. Good location and easy parking. The garden was lovely to wander around! I would have liked conditioner available to use in the shower, but completely understand why it wasn't! The shampoo/bath soap combination was fine to use and conditioner is just something I would have liked but definitely did not need for such a short stay!
