Beautifully decorated hotel , great Indian restaurant near by and pub with live music within walking distance. Met the owner by chance, lovely chap. Highly recommend this hotel. No toilet brush in bathroom.

- ALAN (10/5): Excellent, would definitely recommend and we will stay there again. - Could not fault the hotel or the staff. Hotel is in the heart of the old part of Penrith. Free parking is a bonus and only 1 min from the hotel. The only small bit of criticism and this is me being really picky, the breakfast menus would be better laminated (presentation).

Super comfy bed, great size room, spotlessly clean, and a lovely view of outside the hotel. Perfect location and free parking at the back. Staff all very friendly. Couldnt ask for anything more.

- Ruth (9/5): Stayed 1 night with friends as they were in the apartment. No cooker in the apartment only a microwave and toaster. No s - Welcoming decor and comfortable beds in the twin room. I had a window problem, as it wouldn’t stay open so I complained and they put a roll of blue roll to keep window open. I wasn’t too pleased but it was for only 1 night and it was hot in the room. No radiators on and no air con in rooms only a fan available, windows need updating. More towels would have been nice as only 1 set between 2 of us (myself and my child). Also more milk sachets needed.

- Emma (7/5): Noisy hot room spoiled a trip - The staff are friendly and the hotel is kept really clean. Good range of breakfast options - though they only offer instant coffee, rather than say filter coffee, which is at odds with the classiness of the place. I've stayed at the Lounge many times before and always had a good experience. However the room we were in this time - room 9 - was hot and noisy. The weather was warm for April but only reaching 18 degrees outside so the heat was not down to that. The room had one skylight to provide cooling but then we had seagulls making a lot of noise. There is an alley near the hotel running back to the car park and along that alley there is a very noisy fan (freezer? air handling? don't know and it may not be the hotel's now). This ran all night. Again if the window was open this made the room too noisy for sleep. The vibrations from that fan could be felt in the bed frame. Do not stay in room 9!

The breakfast, the poached egg was more boiled,the bacon was over cooked,the mushroom was full of oil ,all in all good portions need to improve..

- Kevin (6/5): My stay was good except the minor issues with the room. - Nice central location. WiFi in the room was poor. Not the first time i have stayed here and experienced this. The shower head was leaking at connection end and the head was spraying out the side. Again had previous with hot tap not working in one of my rooms.

Room was very warm and due it being nice weather the room had no ac so had to open the window and it was very noisy due to being facing the street. Forgot to mention the water was extremely hot from the tap , could have got scalded.
- Ian (8/5): Good value from a town-centre small hotel. - Breakfast was good and was a combination of a perfectly adequate buffet choice and a cooked selection, speedily delivered by efficient and kindly staff. The bar was pretty dead - but it was a Monday evening. The stair to the bedrooms was a little steep and narrow, but perfectly negotiable.

- Simon (9/5): - Location was good and signs from the car park to the hotel very clear. Breakfast was very good, happy and worth having. Room was very clean, I am a trauma, biohazard and infection control cleaner so I notice this in detail and very happy with tje standard of cleaning throughout the hotel including the room, they obviously allow the cleaners the time they need to do a good job and they need to be praised too. Was happy with most of it! Only suggestion I would have is that as there are no phones in the room to call reception its important to ensure all guests have all the information they need. Having a nicely laminated welcome A4 or A5 piece of paper with a reminder of breakfast times, dinner times, checkout times and any other information would be very helpful. I had to go and ask at reception about a few things after a long work day so this would be massively helpful. This is a tiny thing, apart from that we were happy and would stay again.

- Tetiana (5/5): Not very good - Good location Very tired hotel, rusty sink, very old-fashioned and uncomfortable two taps system. You have one tap with ice-cold water and another with boiling hot, so every time for basic washing you need to fill the basin. Creaky floor, leaking showerhead. The staff is always in the bar, nobody on reception. You want to check-out Monday 8am? Your problem, door is locked, reception is empty, you should let them know beforehand. I stayed for 3 days but got a standard 'goodbye, see you next time' letter on the next day and it was pretty misleading.

The room we stayed in was above the bar so we had very loud music that went quite late and when everyone was leaving they were loud in the street for quite a while and also the traffic outside the property is in quite a busy road so in all we didn’t have a very good sleep at all due to noise!

The constant noise of the hand dryer whirring through the room meant we didn’t get to sleep until after the bar closed. It was a shame as the room was lovely.

It would be better to have signs on the outside walls of the car park and make the lettering darker. At the moment all the signs are inside the car park and the lettering is very pale so not easy to see.

Breakfast was nice (full English) with good options. The room had heavy carpet that looked like it could do with a proper good cleaning.

- Lesley (8/5): Overall, very happy with our stay, convenient in Penrith town, and big enough for 5 of us. - Clean apartment. Great for an overnight stay. Easy parking at the back. Nice breakfast. We had two vegans with us for breakfast. There was no vegan butter for the toast. Also there was not a vegan breakfast. They had to take off the egg and halloumi off of the vegetarian breakfast, to make it vegan. They could have offered them some more mushrooms or tomatoes in its place.
- Shelley (8/5): Perfect spot for us to meet up with friends who live in the area. - The room was lovely and spacious with a king size bed. It was an upgrade on the top floor. Breakfast was excellent, I had the pretzel bun with three choices. We also ate in the restaurant and had a pizza and a couple of small plates which were tasty. We had no problem with the stairs but less mobile people would struggle.
- Marcusirving (10/5): - Location perfect, on the main street with free private parking behind which we found, you need to turn by Marks & Spencers, follow the road after the M&S carpark, you reach a public car park, turn into this and you will see The Lounge parking signs on the wall! Plenty of spaces and then you just walk down the alley, less than a minute to the main street to the accommodation. Free room upgrade on arrival, nice little surprise! Room was a good size with all amenities you would need! Room was very clean with a comfy bed! Bathroom had lots of room and shower was great, plenty of hot water and good water pressure! Wifi worked well too! Breakfast was lovely with choice of cereals, fruit and cooked breakfasts and tea/coffee and juice! We also had a sharing board from the restaurant which was also nice and not bad priced! Staff were very friendly and on hand if you need anything! Rooms were cleaned quickly in a morning, we left the room for breakfast, returned to the room and already been done! We will definitely be returning, we had a lovely stay! Nothing except just a small thjng to note - communication could have been a little better before arrival as we did ask about parking a few times before we arrived but no one replied!

Wanted a decaf coffee was told it’s not on the breakfast menu .The waitress did come back to offer an instant coffee .Would be nice if a decaf coffee was offered in the breakfast menu.
