Guest Reviews
- Keith (10/5): Delightful Gem in Greve in Chianti - Picturesque location. Clean, charming rustic farmhouse-style Villa. Delightful and very accommodating hostess and family, offering a fun cooking class with delicious food! Beds were large and comfortably firm. Beautiful weather allowed us to open windows and doors for natural cool fresh air. Outdoor areas were comfortable and inviting, providing open air seating with shade from direct sunlight. Pool was lovely with numerous lounges though we did not jump in during the cool spring weather. Surrounding olive trees and garden areas are inviting with numerous flowers on the property providing a pop of color. Views to distant vineyards topped the experience. Hostess provided numerous extra services, and coordinated fun outings for our group. She went above and beyond by even arranging flowers and a cake for a surprise birthday celebration the day of our arrival! Home-pressed olive oil was a treat we enjoyed daily! Quick response times for questions prior to our stay and superior support during our stay made this a great destination for us. Our hostess is delightful in every way! Villa has step up and down throughout that could be trip hazards. Some of the showers were small but all were clean and functional. Villa is beyond walking distance from shops and groceries so transportation is a must (fortunately, the hostess was available to support this for our "train-only" group of 6).

- Sylvie (10/5): Our stay was an unforgettable experience, with breathtaking views, a spotless and cozy home, and the most thoughtful hos - The property is absolutely stunning, surrounded by the picturesque Tuscan countryside. Swimming in the pool while taking in those breathtaking views truly felt like a dream.
Marie Antoinetta, the owner, is the most wonderful host you could hope for. She thought of every detail to make the space welcoming, comfortable, and perfectly equipped. She even helped arrange transportation for my mom from the airport, always ready with an answer and a solution for anything we needed.
The house itself was spotless, cozy, and well stocked with everything you might need. One of the highlights of our stay was the pasta and pizza-making class that Marie Antoinetta led right in the house. It was such a memorable experience, especially for the kids, who loved being part of it.
We truly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Tuscany! We loved every single aspect of our stay—everything was truly amazing.
- Paul (10/5): - Mooi karakteristiek huis, heerlijk zwembad in een rustige omgeving, midden in de natuur. Supervrienelijke en zeer behulpzame host, die altijd voor ons klaarstond. Niets
- john-paul (10/5): We were treated like family! - We recently spent a week at Agriturismo Sommassa. We booked it based on the online listing — it was everything it advertised and so much more. The villa itself is just beautiful — magnificent Old World charm with modern conveniences.
The bedrooms were very comfortable and there was plenty of closet space. All but one of the bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook during our stay. There was a washing machine available and a clothesline to hang our clothing to dry.
Right next to the villa was a wood burning grill and pizza oven, along with a table and chairs for outdoor dining. We spent a lot of time breathing in the fresh air and connecting as a family. There is a big pool area which includes lounge chairs, a covered area and spectacular views. There is private parking available right on the property.
But the thing that makes Agriturismo Sommassa the most special is the charm, warmth, grace, and SUPERB hospitality of the owners, Maria Antoinetta and Mario. Caring for this property and their guests is clearly a passion for them, and they go above and beyond to ensure that their guests are happy and well-cared for. They’re patient, eager to help, and very responsive, including to several questions we emailed prior to our stay. They gave us several wonderful recommendations for dining in neighboring towns. I am gluten intolerant and Maria Antoinetta, who is an excellent cook and baker, surprised me with a gluten free apple tort the morning after we arrived. It was so delicious!
A highlight of our stay was the private cooking class, led by Maria Antoinetta with support from friends Amalia and Enrico. What a joy it was to cook with and learn from them while creating a delicious meal that we enjoyed as a family.
We cannot recommend Agriturismo Sommassa enough. We are still savoring our time there and look forward to staying there again.
- עציוני (9/5): A comfortable and authentic Tuscan stay with a wonderful host, beautiful surroundings. - We stayed 8 nights at the villa in April 2025 as a family of 10, ranging from a 3-year-old child to grandparents in their 70s. The villa was comfortable and well-equipped for cooking and enjoying meals together, especially in the outdoor seating areas during the mornings and evenings. The nearby forest and vineyard views were stunning—exactly the kind of landscape you imagine when thinking of Tuscany (just be aware of wild boars when hiking in the forest). The location was perfect for exploring both eastern and western Tuscany—we visited places from Pisa to Montepulciano. Maria, the host, was absolutely wonderful: patient with all our questions, attentive to our needs, and generous in providing some missing essentials. She also gave us great local tips. The rooms were clean, and there are many wineries and vineyards nearby. The villa is quite isolated, and while the nearest village covers daily necessities, driving on the narrow local roads at night was not very pleasant. Also, the villa is older, and the design is not modern—though still charming and functional.
- Posa (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts Maria and Mario went above and beyond with assistance for places to visit, fresh produce from their garden. We highly recommend this property.
- Zoran (9/5): Superb - The place is wonderful. In the heart off Chianti region saraund witholive trees. Lot of space for all of us(four couples) with wide kitchen and beautiful table in front of the house for beautiful nights with dinners and vine. Amazing place. Once Anna Maria brings us more than excellent tiramisu. She was very nice host. Anyway if we could be back in Toscany I would like to stay in Sommassa again The neighbor was complaining for our singing one night otherwise not too much
- John (10/5): Most enjoyable - No breakfast.
Location idyllic
- Alan (10/5): Special stay in a special place. - Firstly, our host Mariantoinetta was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for her in making sure our stay was special. She made us a giant tiramisu and we were were given baskets of fresh produce from her husband’s garden. Her suggestions for local restaurants were very good too.
The old house was beautiful, calm and spacious and the pool elevated up from the house had wonderful 360 degree views of the Tuscan countryside.
Altogether a great week was had by our family from the youngest, who celebrated her 6th birthday there right up to the oldies. Nothing really
