- Bruno (10/5): Absolutely worth it! - The inn is superbly arranged in a pure Japanese style (e.g. furnitures, mats, paper walls). The living room and the bedroom are very spacious. The two hot baths available are very useful when sharing the room with the family. We tasted local craft beers from the free mini bar on the terrace, enjoying the garden view. If you sleep in a traditional way on the mats, you must consider that the paper windows will not stop daylight or outside noise. It is the charm of sleeping in an authentic inn (eventually, be prepared and have earplugs or sleep mask). Moreover, what really makes the difference is the high quality of service. The staff is very attentive and caring. They make you feel welcome and treat you like a special guest. It is not a night in a hotel, but rather experimenting the Japanese traditional way of living. We will certainly do it again when in Kyoto. all was great!

This hotel is pretty expensive and just didn't feel like a good value. The meals are nice, but are far from fine dining and you pay fine dining prices. The room is nice but views are bad in the middle of Tokyo, and it is missing all of the luxury finishes and small touches that wild hello justify the very high cost for the room. We enjoyed the hotel, but just cannot reconcile three experience with the bill.

- Yi Wing (5/5): Overpriced & not good Value – Hygiene, Noise, and Parking Issues - The property itself is a beautifully restored Kyomachiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) with over 80 years of history. I really appreciated the authentic architectural style and the incredibly friendly and professional staff, who made me feel very welcome throughout my stay. However, compared to other ryokans I have stayed at, the value for money was disappointing given the high price point. The biggest drawback is the lack of surroundings or views, as the building is completely enclosed by other modern structures, leaving little to look at. Additionally, the lack of on-site parking makes it quite inconvenient for those traveling by car. While the historical house is charming, the overall experience didn't quite justify the premium cost At a price point of over $1,000 USD per night, this stay was extremely disappointing. Despite being an 80-year-old traditional Kyoto Machiya with friendly staff, the overall experience did not justify the cost. Hygiene was a major issue: There were food crumbs and residue on the table, and the outdoor private bath had visible black mold. The room has poor soundproofing; I could clearly hear people talking downstairs and in neighboring areas. The heating relies solely on the AC unit, which kept cycling on and off, making it hard to maintain a comfortable temperature. Location and Convenience: There is no on-site parking. For a premium price, I had to find a nearby paid public parking lot and walk back to the property. At this price, I could have stayed at a luxury international hotel chain with much better facilities and service. As for dining, the Sukiyaki was excessively salty and the food quality was average despite the presentation. With no surrounding views and so many issues, the value for money is extremely low. I would not recommend this for the price

A welcome treat and japanese tea were served to us on arrival while the staff took our luggage to our room. The room itself was luxurious and had everything we needed. The staff were attentive to all our needs and helpful with booking taxis and anything extra we requested including room service with coffees/teas etc. Several times throughout the stay we were given additional treats which was a lovely touch. The staff really couldn't do more for us. Fantastic. Location is a short walk from a metro/underground station through the narrow Kyoto streets, a short ride to Kyoto central. Other restaurants are available locally which were delicious.

It was a relaxing, cozy place to return to after a long day of sightseeing. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious, with generous portions. Staff was very hospitable and accommodating, and made every effort to make it a wonderful stay. Location was an easy 10-min walk to the subway station. Our suite was up a narrow flight of stairs, which was not an issue for us but may be for others with mobility challenges. There were some slight language miscommunications, but no major issues.

They treated us with exceptional hospitality and kindness. The onsen was soothing and the meals were served cooked on a grill in front of us. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Very clean place and one of a kind experience! The food that was served was exceptional and Reina made sure all the questions were asked.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the rooms were excellent. Overall we had a phenomenal time, highly recommend!!

- Crystal (10/5): Decadent. stayibg herr after a couple long weeks in Tokyo was essential. It often felt like our own private estate becau - If you’re looking to unwind and relax this is the place. Serene, gorgeous and one of a kind. The private onsen in our room was well loved and well used. Every room has abundant complimentary snacks and drinks, including a late night snack. There are massage therapists who can come to your room by request. I could not be happier with our stay. The point was rest and relaxation, so we stayed in the whole day/evening and did just that and It was worth the cost. Breakfast was amazing and no one else was there so it’s like having a private chef. I loved everything about the property.

- Richard (8/5): - Ryokan meal was excellent, 5 stars! The most authentic dining experience we ve ever had. Meticulously prepared courses served in true Japanese tradition. A MUST DO for both breakfast and lunch!!! The room itself was typical minimalist Japanese and very clean. We had a little trouble going up and down the steep stairs to the bedroom, made harder with no stair rails. Make sure you are fit enough to eat and sleep on the floor also. - Dominic (10/5): highly recommend for a traditional Ryokan in Kyoto - We had the most incredible two night stay here. We had a group of four and it was very easy to stay in a shared room. It was luxurious and cozy. The staff at the hotel is the kindest and most lovely people we have met along our stay. Such a special, traditional experience. The breakfast was amazing.
