Guest Reviews
- Danny Heggemeier (10/5): -
- Christ (9/5): Superb -
- Lizzie (7/5): Good - Staff couldn’t do enough to assist. Great wifi with a comfy bed. Leaving the hotel the area wasn’t enjoyable.
- Marion (4/5): Disappointing - Location is good
Laundry service is good
Friendly staff The hotel is not clean: sheets had stains, table not clean.... I really didn't feel comfortable sleeping there!
Elevator not clean
Corners with dust in corridors...
- Cesar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Fabio (7/5): Good balance between price and quality but a little bit negleted - The location is quite good because it is close to the Makassar waterfront, which becomes full of life in the evening. The balance between price and quality is good and probably it is difficult to find something better. The hotel is neglected and lacks attention to detail. For example, one of the windows in my room had a broken pane, the towels were old, the air conditioner remote didn't work properly, and other small issues gave me an impression of neglect. I must admit, however, that the city of Makassar left me with the same impression.
- Yuriy (9/5): Nice place, worth the money. - Rooms are clean, place is nice, near from everything. shower was without hot water.
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iqra (8/5): Very good - Staff friendly and helpfull. Location close to losari beach where I have my activities on the weekend -
- Ena (8/5): Very good - Located strategically in the city. easy to get grab
- Philipan (7/5): Good -
- Susan (9/5): Good local hotel - Location in town - clean and hood value
If you are just using Makassar as a overnight trip - stay closer to airport
This is a good hotel if you want a little hit of the city
Good restaurants nearby - one next door and saudara at the corner cross the street Wi-Fi was not functioning so well
Stayed here twice and first time it was good
2nd time I had to use Lobby
- Zuni (8/5): Great spot - Close to the Losari walkway
Good restaurants nearby
Affordable-
Worth staying a night or 2 for visiting Rammang and Leang caves
- Alexruan (5/5): Need to enhance the cleanliness of the bath towels! - The service was good! Sheets, bath towels are not very clean!
- Lee (6/5): Pleasant -
- Drake (9/5): Superb - Nice staff, good aircon, good location, nice bed. Breakfast started too late in the morning. Room was sort of loud, wifi was not great.
- Emily (9/5): Superb - Most comfortable and large bed we've slept in in Asia! Big room, very delicious breakfast- chicken, vegetables, eggs, rice, Pastries, cereal, soup. Nice staff. Would stay here again. Ac didn't as cold as we wanted and no hot water in shower
- Ian (5/5): Tired and dated, but good enough for the price - Staff were friendly and tried their hardest but didn't speak good English. The property is tired and dated, both the public areas and room.
- Christian (8/5): Good value for money - I only made a brief stop between travels, but the staff were friendly to me, the room was clean and comfortable, WiFi worked well.
It was everything I needed for the 8 hours I was there and didn't cost much money at all.
- Sukirman (10/5): very recommended, clean, and cozy - very good everything is okey
- Agusty69 (8/5): Very good -
- Muhd (5/5): Passable - - Shower head & heater faulty..Door lock card not in good condition..
- Utami (7/5): Good -
- Vergiey (7/5): Nice hotel but there were bedbugs - The location was in walking distance from the centre point of Indonesia bridge and Losari beach, where boats to Samalona beach are quite easy to find. Having travelled around Indonesia, this hotel was one of the cleanest I have stayed (except for bedbugs). Even though the staff didn't speak much English, they were polite and tried to help if I had any questions. The bed was big and pretty comfortable and the AC worked well. Also hot water which is not a certainty in Indonesia. There was water bottles in the room and they brought new ones when cleaning the room. There were bedbugs. As soon as I went to sleep I felt them biting me and was left with itchy red bite marks. The sheets and towels were stained (I feel like this is pretty common in Indonesia so I didn't complain).
Not a big thing for me but the room description says slippers but there wasn't any. In the shower there was no place to put your shampoo except the floor.
The breakfast was buffet with asian food (rice, chicken porridge) which is understandable as most of the guest are asian, but for me it was too heavy. Wester options were cereal and white toast.
- Mohd (10/5): Affordable yet Good Service - The room, the Service, the staffs and the breakfast!! Nothing
- Vinc34 (4/5): Disappointing -

- 244valeriec (2/5): Poor hygiene, A/C broke down - 29/2/2020
We check in with 3 Deluxe Room.
Good:
1. Friendly staffs
Down side:
1. One of the room with yellow dim light, one with white bright light.
2. All towels stink and grey yellowish color.( can see the white and grey comparison picture as attached)
3. All bed sheet, quilts cover stained, yellowish and bad odor.
4. A/C working like fan, call Engineering and said we set the wrong mode. He help to set it right. But still the temperature can’t go cooler. The lower is 25 degree from the air out. So the whole room temperature only able to keep 27-28 degree. Our room with 2 kids so a bit warm and humid.
5. Muslim mosque next to the building. You will have early wake up alarm at around 04:00 something and end at 05:00am.
Suggestion:
1. Bring big portable/rechargeable fans
2. Bring own towel, old linen if you plan to change your linen.
- FajarOktama510 (10/5): Comfort hotel - Comfort hotel near losari beach hotel. Less various meju of breakfast. Clean and cozy room. Friendly staffs. Parking lot very small. Recomended for business activity like meeting. Recomended for family vacation.
- jandrijr (10/5): Good Hotel - Minimalist low budget and good service, Manner, staff, Management wise, good food location near beach and mid town. good for hotel meeting exhibition and conference. standard service good atmosphere and comfort
- Agus budi (8/5): Jos gandos - Lumayan utk menginap sekeluarga makan ok
- Verified traveler (4/5): - bad and prolonged check in experience, corridor is smelly and stuffy, very near to mosque with blaring azan chanting in early morning did affect people sleep (no noise proofing in rooms)
- hafezamri (2/5): Stay Away - We booked the hotel through Booking.com on 26/9, our reservation being confirmed and we are suppose to check-in tomorrow, 20/10. We follow all Booking.com and the hotel terms and condition including the no cancellation clauses. However, today 19/10 the hotel informed us that all room is full booked (as per their e-mail statement ''our room is filled all") and when we contacted them to seek explanation, the staff told us they cannot accept our booking as they have received bulk room reservation on 11/10 for 20/10 and therefore they have to reject us even this is a confirmed booking through Booking.com and that we have to search other hotel. It is such unprofessional by any hotel to do such thing to their guest when we are flying into Indonesia tomorrow. Update, when we landed and arrived at the hotel, their staff meet us at the lobby and told us that our supposedly room can't be use due to maintenance works (change of statement). There is a lot of guest when we are at the lobby (seem a bit fishy). For a hotel with 125 rooms, normally hotel won't be selling all rooms but to keep a few for any eventuality, like if it really our room can't be occupied. Next thing, they say they will move us to another hotel with lesser facilities which we could not accept. Seeing that they wouldn't take us in and they just wanted us to go, we drive and search for other hotel. My advice to you guys, even confirmation booking from Booking.com is not really a confirmed booking (even you follow all their rules) and don't take any chances when booking at Travellers Hotel Phinishi as you may end up as what we had to endure.
- alex3252 (8/5): Good hotel, wonderful staff! - We stayed for two nights when we arrived to Makassar. The hotel itself is fine. Clean enough, comfy beds, and pretty good breakfast. The location is near the water and plenty of places to eat dinner. The front desk staff was amazing. She went above and beyond to book us two bus tickets to Tana Toraja on very short notice. She communicated with me via WhatsApp and we would have been lost without her help. Glad we stayed.
- IndigoLabel (6/5): Great value, Clean rooms, good location but very noisy - Had a business trip where i had to go to trans studio mall everyday. This hotel has nice clean rooms, great location and great value for money. Downside is people have noisy parties on weekend nights and church with lots of singing on sunday morning in 11th floor. Avoid 10th floor rooms if you can! breakfast is boring with little variety, but there are lots of good restaurants nearby.
- aidahz (10/5): Ms - Very good hotel. Exelent servise room clean good location. All the staff really nice and warm. Food is good and tasty. Very comfortable for me and family. Love this hotel. The next visit to Makassar I will stay in this hotel for sure and
- kfhm (8/5): Good affordable - Stayed for 3 nights in early December. Rooms were adequate and clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast (included) was fine and plentiful. (do not expect a typical american breakfast this is Indonesia!) Staff were courteous and friendly. I did enjoy the location as we could walk to the beach, restaurants, and stores.
- Cuxong13 (8/5): Good Hotel with affortable price - We stay in this hotel on Dec 2016. The staffs are very helpful. The room is big enough and clean. The breakfast is tasty.
The location is near to losari beach and fort roterdam. Nearby alot of nice food.
- mregency123 (10/5): Very nice hotel - Perfect breakfast and nice room, clean and good view, i can see the sea and sunset from my room..i pay the room with include free minibar.
Staff very friendly and c.i only 5 minutes I will stay again..very recommended hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel rekomen untuk liburan di makasar - Kondisi hotel bersih, nyaman dan menyenangkan, kekurangannya adalah sarapan terbatas, tidak ada menu room service
- 359ellenr (10/5): Hotel with good service - Even though the location is not really good but this hotel are nice…when you enter the lobby you will feel already the difference…front desk staff will welcome you with smile… The room is nice and comfortable to sleep. Staff are friendly and helpful…overall the hotel is clean…Only what disturb are the neighbourhood.
- 839trevorm (8/5): A hotel that doesn't quite make it - This is a newish hotel, a few minutes' walk from the waterfront, which is well on its way to achieving the standards it apparently sets itself; meanwhile there are a lot of pluses and minuses which cancel each other out. My room was good (large; spotless; excellent shower) except for a noisy air-conditioner. I could only get to sleep by turning it off, opening the window wide (OK until the call to prayer at 4.00 or 4.30 a.m.), then taking the doona out of its cover (a doona? in this climate?) and folding it up to use in place of the inhumane 10-inch-thick pillows. (I rate the air-con and the pillows as serious errors in setting-up.) The hotel seems to employ, especially in the evenings, an army of apparently rather unproductive young staff, most with little English and a permanently puzzled air. (This does not apply to all the staff.) If you eat in the restaurant, you may need to know the phrase "Tolong menghidupkan lampu" ("Please turn the light on"). Breakfast was good, but at dinner-time most - almost all - items on the menu seemed to be unavailable, though it took a while to establish this; simpler just to ask what they do have, and it turns out to be rather good. Tasty complimentary snacks were delivered to my room - a nice touch. The hotel's in a residential street where the median age of the population seems to be about 14, and since they only go indoors to eat and sleep you get to meet most of the neighbours, which is nice. In the afternoons the street is transformed into a well-organised football pitch.
- dr_peace (6/5): It came from outer space. - This was kind of a strange place. The rooms themselves are modern, spotless and comfortable. Other than that the hotel felt like an oversized spaceship with lots of technical features and kitsch decoration - and the builders must have left the place and gave it to the loads of young local staff that did not really know how to deal with this and even less how to properly run a hotel. The shiny facade could not really cover the awkwardness of the staff behavior. They were friendly, but not really helpful. Also in the oversized and overpriced hotel restaurants many dishes were not available - I could have had more choice in a street warung. Can't say anything about the breakfast, we had to leave earlier for the airport.
- Xie2 (8/5): Complicated Elevator - The bedroom is clean and comfortable. We got free minibar contains (snacks and drinks) when staying there for 3 nights due to the hotel promotion. So far the meals was okay, the problem was only the complicated elevator card system. We could not go down to our designated floor, meaning, we had to land on the ground floor then ask one of any room-boys to touch the floor button, it is very complicated. Hopefully the hotel would fix the system.
- ts983 (8/5): A low rate intermediate class hotel. - Pretty good room. It is quite comfort, clean, nice smell and quiet enough.
However, they have a problem with toilet. Exhaust fan doesn't work and (sometime) the water smells not good.
Breakfast? Just so so.
- JamesWS1234 (4/5): berisik atau tidak ada jendela - Saya punya kamar dengan jendela. Kamar samping mesjid. Tidak bisa tidur. Teman saya punya kamar tanpa jendela. Dia bisa tidur.
Ini baru and dekat kota. Saya tidak akan kembali. Tinggal di Novotel. Lebih Bagus.
I had a room with a window. The mosque was right next door (with speakers aimed at the hotel) so it was impossible to sleep. My friend had a room with no window (inside the hotel). He was able to sleep but the room was not comfortable with no natural light. I would not stay here again. Novotel is much better.
