Guest Reviews
- Shelly (3/5): Disappointing - Not much. Sheets were clean. Decor, hole in bathroom door, no Kleenex or extra toilet paper, no hairdryer, no bath mat, TV didn’t work, no seal around door, shower didn’t work well, uncomfortable chairs, unsteady bed
- Marina (3/5): Not So Good - The location is convenient if you are crossing the border, and the fella who checked us in was friendly. But I couldn't wait to leave. This place has could have potential, but it needs a deep clean. I don't mind dated and on the plus side, the sheets and towels were clean. Unfortunately, the floors, surfaces, and areas of the bathroom were not. The nightstand had sticky stuff on it. There was a wooden cabinet under the sink, and I made the mistake of looking under it and there were droppings. The beds were very worn and not very comfortable. The air conditioning unit didn't work well and was musty smelling, so we had the door open to circulate the air a bit. A policewoman who was walking by and looking for someone stopped in. She was lovely, and we enjoyed meeting her, but it did make us wonder. The hot water wasn't working when we got there, but the fella was able to reset the hot water heater. It was inexpensive relatively speaking, so our experience fit that of cheap motel. We were grateful to leave.
- Tim or Mary (10/5): Great Value, very clean. Friendly. - The hotel room I would say was great for the price our own individual separate bedroom, then comes with a small kitchen a dining room, on the outside you get to sit on the patio with table and chairs it was already set up and made you feel like it was a home away from home
- John (10/5): Excellent service and Well cleaned room - Friendly Staff. The rooms was well cleaned and everything in the room was nicely organized. Very safe and quiet place right on the side of the Canada-USA border crossing. Even the price was not much. I read some other reviews of some people about the property like people are really expecting 5 star facilities in 2 star motel which is really funny to me.
Like, people do not want to spend money and want to stay in cheap motel but really want to have everything top class. Really man… Grow up
- Lynda (1/5): Bad experience - Manager was nice at first We were there less than an hour. Motel is old and had no air-conditioning (advertised as they did have it). The recliner chair was old and full of duct tape. There were other guests that were loud, on drugs, drinking and indecent exposure in the parking lot. Guy was taking off woman's shirt and licking her breasts outside for all to witness. Talked to the manager about our concerns for safety. He couldn't do anything about it. We left within the hour!. Our emails and phone calls for reimbursement went unanswered. Would NOT recommend!!!!
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Einarson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fournier (8/5): Very good - The room I got had a kitchen dining room and living room. The gentleman I dealt with a couple of times here was pretty nice. The place is kind of old so it's not pristine but still fairly nice,
- Barb (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (8/5): Decent - Quiet and good deal for what it was Cool shower
- Gregan (10/5): Exceptional - Really friendly owner
- Amanda (8/5): Very good - I travel with pets, so I love the drive up configuration of motels. This one was really convenient and the man at check in was very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable with nice linens and the shower felt nice (good pressure and nice temp water). Nothing. The room was a bit dated, but that doesn’t matter to me. I am all about comfort, cleanliness and friendliness of staff - which were all present here.
- Marcia (8/5): Very comfortable couch and bed. Nice to have kitchen - Good location for border crossing. Very quiet.
- Debra (7/5): good deal - kitchenette, clean and comfortable older, but great value and friendly staff
- Randl (8/5): Very good -
- Randl (8/5): Very good -
- Samuel (10/5): Great place for good price. - Nice place to stay. Well cleaned rooms and washroom. Everything was arranged properly. Friendly staff
- Chet (6/5): Pleasant - Kitchette was great. Room for my small grill right outside. Price was right. Room could use wok. Cupboard broke, floors dirty and stained.
- Donovan (2/5): Fell way short from other years - Booked apartment like last two years and this time put in room with no kitchen, couch or table. One room air coy did not work ands it was 87 outside. Sink didn’t drain in bathroom, shower took 10-15 minutes to get hot water. Great location and nice staff but had same expectations as last year ABBA fell way short Mentioned that above and not typing again. Also dead bolt broken and back staff entrance had to put chair in front of since does not lock
- Michele (8/5): Very good - We have stayed here many times over the past several years. It has gone through several managers/owners with all of them being nice and helpful and accommodating. The building itself is definitely aging but still comfortable and a great value.
- Kevin (5/5): Passable -
- Dean (9/5): Convenient and excellent value! Super-clean! - Location was excellent and easy to reach from the highway. The small appliances and linens seemed all brand new. Clean as a whistle. Clearly the new owners are working hard and making the investments to improve this property. Would stay here again without any hesitation or concerns. Excellent value! The outside is a bit dated looking.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Einarson (6/5): Pleasant -
- Darshan (1/5): Bad - Nothing They mentioned 24 hours check in. Not true no one open the door
- Nic (4/5): Disappointing - Great location just over the border AC/heat didn't seem to work and the hot water only got lukewarm
- John (10/5): Excellent service and extremely clean room. - The room was very clean and everything was very well organized. The staff was very friendly and helping. The guy who was working there helped me with unloading stuff from my car as I am little old and my stuff was little heavy for me.
I have stayed there couple of times in last year during travelling and every time I enjoyed my night stay over there. Everything was great according to the prize. No complaints at all.
I have read some review complaining and make stuff by themselves and post fake reviews over here. I mean maybe they are friends of their competitors haha.
- Wendy (4/5): Old and run down but clean. Owner needs to ensure their guests are comfortable and safe. - Location was perfect for me. Room was clean. I would stay there again only because it is literally the only place to stay in Emerson, Manitoba. No heat on when I arrived and it was -36 celsius outside. Turned heat on and went to bed with extra blankets. Still no heat next day. Called and was told "oh yeah forgot to tell you the thermostats are backwards. High is low, low is high." Even then only had heat in 1 of the bedrooms and living room. Bathroom was unbearably cold. Also, no sheets on the bed. Was told "we don't use sheets" which is kind of gross. Second night there was a party in the office, right next to my room. I was the only guest in the motel. Twice party guests from the office tried to break into my room. Slept with a kitchen knife next to my bed.

- Martinez (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bantam (7/5): Enjoyable - It was clean I little old but comfortable I arrived late and the owner waited for me
- Anthony (7/5): Short, but good - Across the border from the USA. Dated, but for the cost - great.
- Skog (4/5): Would never take my wife / family there - Mow the 2 ft high grass. Junk laying around. Didn't look like it was even open.
- Proulx (2/5): Very poor -
- Terry (6/5): ok - location tv didn't work, showers not working
- Laura (8/5): Very good - It was so awesome to have the continental breakfast be available at 530 for those of us just passing through for work who have early starts. Selection was great too
- Robert (10/5): Excellent - The staff is really friendly and helpful. Guy at the front desk ready to help all the time.
Rooms are well cleaned.
Facilities are really good as per the price. The building looks a little old.
- Joe (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mervin (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (2/5): You get what you pay for. Go th extra 30 minutes and stay in a better place! - Price was cheap. You get what you pay for. I showed up at 9pm. As I was given my key, and leaving the front desk, I was told to turn on the heater when I get to the room. It was snowy out and -10C and when I got to the room, you could see your breath. Surprised the water in the toilet was frozen!
- Jennie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Marilyn (3/5): Poor -

Good clean and quiet
- Jenny (6/5): Stay in Grand Forks - If you’re looking for a place to stay to do your Global Entry interview, stay in Grand Forks. I’d say our review is based on what we’re used to. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. The room upon first glance was okay, but we had our small dog with us who helped us discover the mess under the beds. Food, trash, socks, and even a shoe.
- Glen (6/5): - There was no hot water in the washroom and the heater was on hi all night and loud
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were a little late arriving but we were met at the door and quickly and efficiently checked in. It was nice and quiet.
- Lakshmaiah (8/5): Good place to stay for a night - None
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean older motel. Does the job quite well with a great staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is the only motel at the border. Very old but does the job.
- Anne (8/5): Very pleasant - Clean and quiet
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I’ve got an even larger room for a consecutive second night. The hostess did her best to accommodate my needs! Very quiet and clean!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and nice room! Very cordial hostess!
- Michele (10/5): Welcoming as always. - We, my husband and I and our little dog, make this trip every year to see family in Emerson and wouldn't stay anywhere else.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is an older motel with owners that care. There is quirky things in the room for convenience like power bars and a usb charging station. The bathroom was cleaner then most four star hotels i have stayed in. Its dated but comfortable for a wiery traveler
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Convenient to border crossing.
Clean
Comfortable beds
Nice towels & bedding
No plug in bathroom for hair dryer
- Alexandra (8/5): - Just what was needed. Very comfortable rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you.
- Williem (8/5): - Place was excellent,a little oldder but it was nice, comfotable and clean!!
- Sandy (10/5): Great stay - Wonderful little hotel located a stone's throw from the border. Staff were welcoming and constantly checked to make sure I was comfortable or needing things. They were knowledagble of the area and while my stay was short, a great stay was had
- Elizabeth (10/5): Older but very clean motel. - The motel is very clean, the people owning it are very nice and willing to help anyway they can. The town is very small with almost no food choices. The motel is an older and very small motel with tiny rooms but kept up very well. It does have a microwave and small refrigerator. Beds are comfortable and furnace keeps the room warm.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a very small, border town motel, which we expected. We expected it to be a very small mom and pop operation. When we got there, at about 10pm, our room was not ready for us. The woman who was working ran out and got the room ready. When it was time to charge my card, she said that the price from the 3rd party was incorrect and she insisted that she would charge me more for the room. When I showed her the entire process of how I got the rate that I got, she said that it was incorrect, even still. She ended up calling the owner of the hotel, who also said the rate was wrong and that they were not willing to take the reservation price. They wanted to charge an extra $25 or so. This continued long enough for me to just cancel my reservation and just continue on down the road to the next town, where I got a great hotel room for the price that this little motel was asking. I was disappointed.
- Chris (8/5): The Maple Leaf Hotel - The owner put it best. It’s an old building, and they do what they can. Clean room, modern bathroom, comfortable beds and bedding, and well stocked kitchenette. Perfect for our one night’s stay. Many thanks!
- Gary (8/5): Nice place - Lovely small town motel, clean and nicely appointed
