Guest Reviews
- Anne-Marie (10/5): Great service, comfortable stay 👌 - We had a lovely overnight stay in this charming old building. The owners were friendly, considerate, and very accommodating throughout our visit.
Although the room was bijou, it was clean, bright, comfortable, and well equipped with everything we needed. The full English breakfast was tasty and freshly prepared, and they kindly accommodated vegetarian requirements without any issue.
A warm and welcoming place to stay — we would happily return.
- purton (10/5): -
- Stephen (5/5): A convenient place to stay. - Location and parking convenient. Breakfast sufficient, but not outstanding. Having to enter via the Public Bar and eat breakfast in the bar.
- John A Reeves (8/5): - Lovely place, very comfortable and they've made such a big effort to make the rooms 'homely'. Unfortunately no food was available in the evening, as they had a darts match on. Shame as I know the food is really good.
- Rob (8/5): Zeer vriendelijk servicegericht personeel in leuk café - Personeel, service, entourage, fietsen mochten in de kroeg staan Kamers achterkant liggen aan lawaaiige weg, is een verkeershoofdader in Cornwall, constant auto’s en vrachtverkeer
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Yvonne (10/5): Great location and facilities for families. - Great location, friendly, clean and great facilities for families
- Deborah (8/5): Kings Arms - Lovely hosts, breakfast was good hot & freshly made. Room was small but adequate for what we needed. Comfy beds with nice clean bedding Sausage on the breakfast needed to be better quality. Full length mirror in the bedroom would have been nice
- John (10/5): - Friendly and accommodating All good
- john (9/5): happy with stay staff excellent -
- Sharon (8/5): 1st visit to Holsworthy - Lyn was very welcoming and friendly.
She regularly checked that we were happy with our room, which we were.
She was happy to be flexible with our breakfast requests.
Lyn advised us on places to visit and shop. Nothing. Although we had to be mindful about parking outside the pub ad there were restrictions.
We made it work for us.
- Fraser (10/5): -
- Michael (6/5): Comfortable - Breakfast was good staff pleasant
- Vicky (10/5): Looking forward to the next time we are in the area! - Welcoming traditional good old British pub! The owners were friendly and chatty and made us feel welcome. Jill checked that everything was ok. It was perfect! Location is right in the middle of Holsworthy on the square. N/A
- Neil Hockaday (8/5): - Very welcoming. Particularly comfortable family room which the dog loved too.
A classic English pub with wholesome food and good cider. Not too much choice on the menu.

- Sharon (9/5): Great find, really good value, lovely staff - So warm and welcoming with good communication. very clean room and fans provided as it was stifling hot. Great value with good breakfast included. Historic old pub in the middle of Holdsworthy with award winning flowers outside and lovely host and staff. Not far from Bude for beaches. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Thank you..the Welsh sisters No blackout blinds so light coming through the curtains very early in the morning. Old pub so maybe unable to get a fixing on the window?
- Harvey (8/5): Helpful hosts - Helpful hosts that stored our cycles overnight Traffic noise in bedroom, small breakfast

- Jean (7/5): Adequate for one night stop over - Staff friendly and helpful
Town suitable as a stop over for visiting other parts of Cornwall No food available in hotel on Monday evenings and breakfast served too late in the morning (so we forfeited breakfast already paid for)
Would not want to visit the town again
- Vicky (8/5): Very good -
- Sebastian (10/5): Lovely hosts and highly recommended - Great sized room and well equipped N/A

- Alistair (8/5): Made to feel welcome with our retriever. - The owners were great. Freshly cooked breakfast to order at a time to suit us. Room was straightforward but spotless.
- Ashley (10/5): - Highly recommended. Great room, very clean, super organised (I think they’ve thought of everything) and above all fantastic hosts - 5 star all round.
- Savitree (10/5): Excellent - Excellent recommendation
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (7/5): Good -
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - Good location, easy parking and friendly staff
- Alison (4/5): Adequate for my needs but disappointing, with safety concerns. - I was pleased that the duvet was wider than a single, as it didn't move around and fall off me in bed. The bed was comfortable, the radiator worked well, and I slept well. Despite a noisy bar below on Friday night, the room was quiet and I was not disturbed. The shower had shampoo, conditioner and soap, with good towels, and I had my own toilet facilities outside the room. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. There were no written instructions about my room, hotel timings, or fire precautions, apart from a diagram on the wall. On arrival, I wasn't shown how to open the back door when it was deadlocked at night, and no written instructions beside it, and I was unable to open it on the first morning - there was no other way out. I was concerned that residents could be trapped in the event of a fire. The shower was in a corner of the small (single) room with no extractor fan, and there was no towel rail. The toilet was placed sideways on in a very narrow room, with barely enough space to accommodate my knees when I sat on it. On the second morning I was unable to get breakfast at the time I'd requested as the owner didn't appear, and didn't answer the phone when I rang. This made me anxious because of the free parking restrictions and because I wanted to leave in good time. When the cooked breakfast came (late), the beans weren't hot, and the tomato barely warm. Both mornings, I would have preferred a pot of coffee and milk for two cupfuls, rather than a large mug of instant. There was no opportunity to share my concerns about the back door with the owner before I left.

- Verified traveler (8/5): My review - Hotel was as described in web site. Room was clean and well equipped. Good breakfast and host was really friendly. Pub has good range of beers.
- Paul (10/5): Perfect - Breakfast excellent.
Location centre of Holsworthy, so a bit noisy, but expected.
Room had all that you could want.
Hosts were brilliant - thanks Ensuite would have been nice, but for the price, not expected.
- Don (9/5): Will be back next time in area. - Good English breakfast and flexible so when we asked for something different for our daughter they happily helped.
Also.. not over the top in portion size. Enough to start the day. This is not a 5 star hotel and if thats what you expect you are not going to get it. Just good functional accommodation. I do suspect that they may need to think about adding aircon one day. I have been in a number of older hotels recently and upstairs .rooms only work in summer with the windows open (and being on the road that makes it a bit noisy until the light traffic calms down). Didnt bother me but might upset some.
- Trevor (10/5): First class - Whilst we could not stay for breakfast they kindly made us sandwiches for us to take with us. Very kind staff. Nothing
- Annette (9/5): If you are staying in Holsworthy this is ggod - Very friendly and helpful. The triple room as lovely and extremely well stocked with what ever you could need!
A good room in a good location
- Guy (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stopover en route for Cornwall. - A very friendly welcome and a cosy, clean well appointed room to greet us! Comfy beds and nice cheery yellow rugs mugs and cushions. English pub hospitality at its best.
- Wade (10/5): Well worth the money, had a great night stay - Convenient, central location. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed and great sheets. Nothing not to like
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Carolin (8/5): Helpful, considerate and obliging hosts. - Jill was kind, understanding and helpful. The location is delightful; quiet, friendly and safe fore a traveller on their own. Booking.com. didn't check with location regarding a specific requirement but told me they had approved it. Poor service from Booking.com which would have resulted in a bad mismatch od facilities to requirements had Jill and Ashley not been so obliging.
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good -
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly people, Rooms clean, Breakfast was lovely. Overall a brilliant place to stay
- Ben'juggernaut (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (9/5): Superb -
- Karl (8/5): Very good - Breakfast and the rooms No Wi-Fi
- Gwyn (8/5): Very good -
- Victor (9/5): It was a lovely stay and Ashley and Jill were the perfect host. It was a lovely cosy atmosphere. - Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it, great cup of tea! Nothing. I would stay there again, and probably will.
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): One night stay - One night business stay , clean compact, ideal as it’s in centre of town , ideal for food, all with walking distance etc, there is a car park in front of hotel very near, but has time restrictions, didn’t bother me as I was out before 8am
For me breakfast was to late, but the landlady made me a take out as I wanted to be out earlier than they start breakfast , thank you
