Guest Reviews
- Kanak (5/5): Very friendly staff but property looks run down and in need of update. Road access to property is poor. - Poor quality fittings in the bathroom. Shower head was broken.
- Musyoka (8/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): Great value, good was very good. Excellent African chicken curry - New section of the building was wonderful- the older portion was showing its age. Honestly loved everything except the fact that you had to walk on the street to get to the restaurant- hopefully they will create a path.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Turid (8/5): -
- Osuolale (7/5): - The internet connection was not stable.

- isambis (10/5): Best Sevice - Excellent service to my family, we were 11 people. Strong recommendation if you and your family want to eat and enjoy delicious food. Thanks to Mr. Viateur for your professional service
- Safari37199175951 (2/5): Not Heaven-ly - e stayed at the boutique hotel not the retreat but the hotel was supposed to be 4 star. It is not compared to other 4 star in Kigali and Rwanda. The only good thing is the French press coffee in the room. Our room was so small we can hardly open our luggage and the bathroom door (between armoire and bed), the basin faucet was loose and the shower floor was cracked. Mosquitos were abundant before the turndown service at 8pm. Restaurant was overpriced and included service charge for both drinks and meal. At breakfast, included in the room charge, staff presented a bill and said all was covered except tip. It was a buffet and I did not use the omelet station or request any service. I told the reception that they should not call this a 4 star and shared all the items above. Staff was pleasant but service was not exemplary as other 4 star in Kigali.

- Olukemi (3/5): - It's in a very green part of the city. Quite nice. The facilities are old. Online pictures show a spacious room but in reality the room i was given was so tiny and outdated. The staff/establishment was inflexible to make any adjustments to change the room. They kept saying for a whole week that they were consulting with management. I soon realised that meant they had no intention to make any change. For the quality of facilities, the price is high.
- Passenger42460164668 (10/5): Calm clean quiet - Calm clean and quiet :) checked in late with no fuss. Breakfast was lovely. They were super flexible and let me leave my bad at the desk as I wasn’t leaving town until the afternoon. I look forward to being back!
- CdeslogesCAN (10/5): Great hotel. I’ll be back 1000% - I had a great experience. My King size room was beautiful and the outdoor space was great. I also loved both restaurants and all staff was very friendly
- 537vickiw (10/5): I will definitely return~ - I was here a year ago and could not wait to come back! It is delightful, the food and service wonderful.
Don’t forget to have the gluten free carrot bread, it was absolutely delicious.
- 217sashah (10/5): Enjoyed our stay - Excellent customer service.
- RobS4701 (10/5): Excellent service! - Great food and atmosphere. Special thanks to my waiter, Patrice!
- cathyw488 (10/5): Lovely Brunch - Wonderful service. Delicious food. Huge variety. Live music was great. Definitely would come again.
- 178danak (10/5): A little bit of heaven! - Lovely variety of food for brunch. Fatima was our server/hostess and was very pleasant and attentive. The live music was an added bonus. The restaurant is nestled in a bit of tropical paradise.

- Sewjourn (8/5): Oasis in Kigali - This is a nice hotel not far from downtown Kigali. It is on a tree lined street away from the hub bub of the city but still within walking distance of downtown. We stayed here for 3 nights when we first arrived in Rwanda. Check in was easy and the staff were all very nice. We were given a room on the first floor with a window looking out onto a cement wall and foliage. The room was on the small side but it was very clean and the shower was very good and the AC adequate.
We did run into an issue with our door not locking. Maintenance was called and even though it was late they came right away. It took a couple of times to fix it but it was resolved.
There is the Heaven Restaurant next door which was very convenient. It is open air with a nice atmosphere and very helpful staff. Included in our stay were several meals there from breakfast to dinner offering many options and everything we tried was very good.
They do have a sister property up the street called The Retreat which is much more upscale and would be a great choice if your budget allows it.
- ankiw2026 (10/5): Heavenly - I was well taken care of by Chantal.
Food as tasty as usual.
Nice ambiance
- A1368BJmaxp (10/5): Wonderful location - Very nice location, Viateur did a great job and was very friendly
- Cornelius (10/5): -

- kelvinjules (10/5): Explore how retreats is - The experience entirely country
- 91ireneu (10/5): Appreciation for your infrastructure and wonderful services. - I appreciated your wonderful service and how your place is well designed such as restaurant, bar and rooms.however your staffs are well trained about the hospitality and discipline.🙏
- 293lorit (10/5): Beautiful Heaven Boutique - Wonderful visit at Heaven Boutique. The staff was so lovely and the food at the Heaven restaurant was delicious.
- Paula (7/5): -
- Rodrigo (10/5): Awesome time in rwanda !!! - Equipe excelente, com café da manha otimo. Atendeu todas expectativas !!! Restaurante do hotel excelente. quarto um pouco pequeno.
- Unami (9/5): -
- Peter (8/5): - The food was amazing and room was super clean. Staff too were great in services
- W1263FDjaynep (6/5): It was an ok place - I chose this hotel before the start of my gorilla tracking and also for one night after gorilla tracking to transition to the next stop, so I knew that it wasn’t going to be a 5 Star stay. It’s comfortable enough, but the rooms are small and dated as mentioned by other travelers. The pictures on the web site show workout equipment and yoga on the outside deck, which are not happening whatsoever, there’s no yoga and no gym equipment our Safari guide said that he booked us a king room and that is what was on my itinerary so as far as I know, that’s what I paid for. They said that a queen room was booked so I got a queen room upon my first checkout. They asked if everything was satisfactory and I mentioned the room and I said I’m coming back so maybe you can make it up by giving us the king room and she said yes When we came back we received the queen room again once again I brought up that our guy had booked a king room and they said no when we first checked in they said we could go have breakfast which was included, at either of the two restaurants up the street, they are not on site when we returned for our second day and went to the same restaurant we had attended it twice that was supposed to be included. They said that we couldn’t eat there. My husband made a bit of a fuss and then as he was walking out, they said, “no no it’s OK. You can eat here “.Completely unprofessional. I wouldn’t not recommend this hotel, it’s fine, but there are more luxurious hotels that probably aren’t even that much more money.
- David (9/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- Annie (7/5): Potential to be a great stay but slightly disappointed with some aspects - Good location and affordable, very friendly and helpful service Aircon broken, plug sockets falling out of wall, no hot water for shower, slow service at breakfast (ran out of spoons, tea, yoghurts etc. - slow to replace)
- margauxbardet (9/5): -
- Maureen (10/5): Nice staff & after I got my sliding door locked, I was very comfortable in my room. Would be nice to have a larger l - Good location for an overnight stay. Delicious dinner at Heaven Restaurant. I didn’t like that the exterior door to our area was unlocked. And the sliding door (I was on the 1st floor) was very tough to lock.
- ololade (9/5): - Right from our first arrival, the warmth of the staff was exceptional. Nothing
- Marco (9/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): This hotel made the top of our list so far! -
- Eugenia (3/5): Overpriced, Outdated Rooms, and Mishandled Booking - The location is good, the breakfast was tasty, and the staff were generally friendly — especially Justin, who was helpful and kind. Transport & arrival
The hotel airport pick-up cost was overpriced (USD 45). When I arrived, the driver was not there, and I had to wait for approximately 30–45 minutes. Fortunately, I arrived in the morning, and although check-in was officially in the afternoon, I was allowed to check in one hour early.
Booking issue & handling
I had two reservations, both made via Booking.com: one from 26–29 November and another from 29 November–1 December. The second booking was not made through a separate platform, but it was apparently a partner offer within Booking.com. This reservation was confirmed in advance, reconfirmed with the hotel in July, and again confirmed at check-in on 26 November. I also received a Booking.com reminder email the day before the second stay.
On the evening of 28 November, when I went to reception to arrange a taxi for the arriving guests, I was initially told everything was fine. Only later that evening was I informed that the second reservation had allegedly been cancelled by the hotel’s partner. I was later told that the hotel had stopped working with this partner due to pricing issues. While I understand business decisions, this situation was handled poorly. I had explicitly checked multiple times in advance whether the booking was in order and was always told that everything was fine, which suggests the situation was not properly managed internally.
The following morning, on the last day of my first stay, the supervisor informed me that I would have to pay nearly double the original rate to stay, despite having already paid via Booking.com. Although a discount was later offered, the entire situation felt unreasonable and stressful.
Outcome & overall impression
Due to the way this was handled and the overall condition of the room, I decided to book alternative accommodation at the last minute.
- Kareem (10/5): The hotel felt comfortable and safe. - Facilities were clean. Pool and gym great. Room cozy
- Shaun (9/5): -
- Christian (8/5): -
- A (8/5): Very nice alternative to other small hotels I have tried in Kigali. - Staff is super friendly, and the location is calm for Kigali, very beautiful grounds, especially where gym and restaurants are located (up the street from this property). Lovely rooms and turn-down service. Food is really good, and plentiful breakfast; meals are a bit pricey, however, even for Kigali. The 24-hour gym was really nice and had new and well-maintained equipment, usually empty when I went (at night). The rooms have little things that don't work, but were fixed within the day when I let the hotel know. It is a small property and with a lot of staff, so most things are usually well maintained. Since I stayed multiple times, and on the single overnight stays, I did have some issues which couldn't be fixed because I noticed too late at night (i.e. shower didn't drain properly, AC was noisy). Note that it is rarely warm in Kigali. Smallest room is really small -i.e. couldn't open my full-size suitcase and keep it open.
- Marilyn (7/5): Clean well located property but not a “boutique” hotel - The staff were friendly and eager to assist. The onsite restaurant was excellent with a broad variety of choices and first rate service. The included breakfast was a bonus as was the swimming pool. Located in a lovely neighbourhood. My room in the residence was very small in spite of it being an upgrade. There was really nowhere to sit in the room other than on the bed and no common area other than the restaurant. I felt a bit trapped. I woke up to a banging noise every night for 5 nights. I asked if someone could resolve it but with no success. On the 4th day, I was offered a room change (which I didn’t accept since I was checking out the next day). I think it may have been pipes in the walls but I’m not certain.while the room was very clean it was not comfortable.
- Zachary (10/5): Great stay, nice hotel - Easy to find, clean and kind staff
It’s part of 3 properties next to eahxother Mosquitoes, we had nets in our room but so many at night
- Nadine (8/5): My second stay at this lovely spot. Excellent value and wonderful staff. - Staff are excellent. Location is quiet and lovely. Food very good. Very clean. Value was outstanding. Power was a bit glitchy in the room and some furnishings including plumbing getting dated.
- Greet (10/5): -
- gratitude13 (10/5): Great hotel, great staff! - Great hotel, great staff! I chose this hotel because of the good reviews and it was a great stay. The room is well appointed, the food was good and it’s close to everything in Kigali, but away from the city’s hustle and bustle. I spent an afternoon with one of the hotel staff members, Matthew, at Nyandungu Eco-Park (loved every minute of this park), we had a great time and it’s well worth a visit if you stay in Kigali. Thank you to all, especially Matthew for the awesome day out!
Ps-book a massage, it was the best!
- impossible50 (4/5): Small, basic rooms and unresponsive staff - We were booked into Heaven Boutique hotel for 3 nights by our travel agent- two nights prior to and one night after our gorilla trek at Five Volcanoes NP.
On our first visit the room we were allocated was so dark we had to have the lights on all day. The toilet was partially blocked and overnight the first night it stopped functioning at all. After reporting the issue to reception early the next morning, we had a succession of attempted but ineffectual repairs. It was finally fixed at 4.00pm. I asked repeatedly to change rooms but this request was dismissed.
When we checked out I asked for an upstairs room for our second stay. Upon returning, as if by way of punishment, we were allocated a much smaller room, downstairs again, adjacent to reception and facing the driveway entry.
To access the hotel restaurant it is necessary to walk out of the property and up the street several hundred metres. Service and food at the restaurant were generally good, but many beers and wines listed on the menu were unavailable.
The hotel is in a residential area, over a kilometre uphill to any shops or alternative eating options.
There are lots of better places to stay in Kigali, which is a lovely small city.
- Roger Robert (7/5): -
- NarraGirl01 (6/5): In need of an update - The staff and the restaurant are really good.
The rooms are tired and the hotel and facilities desperately needs an update/refurb.
It's well located and the sister hotel next door (can use facilities and restaurant etc) is much better in terms of quality and facilities (comes at a higher price of course).
- Scott (4/5): Dissapointed - Our first stay was amazing and then...... We planned to stay here twice on our Rwanda trip. The first visit was excellent and we couldn’t wait to go back for our final night in Rwanda. Unfortunately, though after an excellent first stay the hotel cancelled our last night the day before we returned to Kigali having already the confirmed the booking the week before as I had booked it 7 months previously. No idea how they determined they had double booked us given how long ago we booked it.
The late cancellation meant we had to find an alternative hotel and this was at 6am in the morning as we were in Akagera and hadn’t seen the message sent the afternoon before our stay. This meant I had to miss part of my morning safari drive because I had to then spend time trying to find another accommodation.
The hotel offered no apology until I complained and eventually sent us message saying they had found another hotel for us that we could go to if we want. A hotel that was more expensive and more so than the price Heaven told us they secured it for. This meant I was $40 down and lost a morning of my safari. They didn’t offer any mediation i.e. a discount in the restaurant as a reparation given this was completely their fault. They also didn’t appear to care less about the situation. Really disappointing compared with the level of service, how friendly and helpful every other person we met in Rwanda offered.
Really disappointed with them given how good our first stay the week before was.
- Pål Christian (3/5): Helt fint hotel. Super betjening. - Vennlig og hyggelig betjening. Min egen feil. Altfor lite rom. Tam frokost.
- brianwA9661RD (10/5): Nice hotel and restaurant with a great staff - My wife and I stayed at the Heaven Restaurant & Boutique Hotel in August, 2025. Our room was rather small, but adequate and clean. The two restaurants associated with the property are inviting. Our meals were good and the restaurant service was very good.
The rooms, grounds, and restaurants are worthy of a 4-star hotel. I’ve awarded a fifth star based on the personable and very helpful hotel staff. The Heaven Restaurant & Boutique Hotel compares favorably with the best hotels in the U.S. in terms of its staffing.
- Scott (10/5): - Everything. Staff were so friendly and helpful. On site restaurants are excellent and really good options. Tailored menu to suit vegan options. Location is great, very easy to walk to Kigali and main sites. Room was very comfortable and clean with excellent amenities. Hotel amenities were also great with access to gym, pools, bar, spa, tours etc. so glad we get to stay for one more night when we return to kigali.
- Sarah (8/5): - The facilities in the whole complex were great and the breakfast was very good with a large selection The room was tiny
- RENEE (10/5): - Great setting with greenery all around. Lots of security 24/7. Gym, bar lovely. Nothing close to walking to as of shopping though.
- biztripJoburg (8/5): Good for a short stay in Kigali - We stayed just the one night here on our way to the airport after a gorilla viewing trip. The hotel is very clean and well furnished although the room we had was extremely small. The restaurants are not in the same building but a few metres along the road to which we had to walk. It wasn't far and the road seems to be quite safe but there was some unseasonal rain that evening so we did get a little wet on our way to dinner.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent breakfast, clean facilities, and easy check in.
- RENEE (10/5): - friendly staff, very clean, gym pool and all the facilities are exceptional
- sarahlouiser308 (10/5): The best staff and lovely hotel - I stayed at heaven hotel for a work trip and brought my family with me for them to enjoy a break. I travel all over the world and it was honestly the best service I have ever experienced. The staff were all extremely attentive and kind, and absolutely loved playing with my 8 month old son (who would spend hours with the team during the day playing). We can’t wait to come back and visit everyone again!
- Munene (9/5): Awesome I loved it and will visit again - It was madse well and great quality. Could have variety
- nepatravellers (10/5): A convenient and wonderful place to stay for a night or two while in Kigali Rwanda. - I only stayed one night but it was an excellent stay. It's close to the airport and the room was very clean, had a nice hot shower and coffee service in the room. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast buffet was delicious.
- Saloni (9/5): -
- Alexander (8/5): - There is 2 properties for this hotel. The Boutique & standard hotel.
We stayed in the standard. It is very safe with security 24 hours.
The staff are very helpful and can arrange anything. The rooms a clean, heaps of storage, goid ensuite and comfy netted bed with A/C. Decor is dated. Free WiFi and great breakfast.
They have a excellent pool and offer gym, yoga and free massage.
They can arrange tours and transport.
There are bars and restaurants within 15 minutes walking of hotel. We found it safe as the area seemed business like.
We walked to a great restaurant called The Bistro.
This Kiyovu district has a mall with shops and is a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
- Gilles (10/5): - Emplacement
- NESTOR CIRHUZA (9/5): - The food and free massaage The room is little
- MariuszK1346 (10/5): Great stay - Great country ! So clean! So green! So kind! So safe! People amazing!
Consulate, Christelle and Justin great reception stuff
- Marco (10/5): -
- Eva Lena (5/5): - The staff are very friendly and genuinely try to help. However, the accommodation leaves much to be desired. The villa rooms face a busy four-lane road with no effective noise insulation and lack blackout curtains. My first evening included a lukewarm shower. After an upgrade to the residence, the issues persisted: the charming but dorm-like structure demands proper soundproofing. Conversations and arrivals of neighboring guests could be heard clearly, and squeaking doors only added to the disturbance.
On the positive side, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the hot stone massage was truly enjoyable. Unfortunately, the lack of basic comfort—particularly the excessive noise—overshadowed these strengths. During my nine-day stay for work in Kigali, it felt far more exhausting than restful. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this hotel in its current state. The staff are very friendly and genuinely try to help. However, the accommodation leaves much to be desired. The villa rooms face a busy four-lane road with no effective noise insulation and lack blackout curtains. My first evening included a lukewarm shower. - Jack (10/5): - The most friendly and helpful staff!
Fantastic rooms and restaurants.

- jamesfZ6007YN (8/5): Not spectacular, but more than good enough - This is a solid option if you have a night or two to spend in Kigali. The highlight is the access to the more expensive Heaven Retreat next door--especially the Retreat's gym. We also liked the fact their social mission to train young Rwandans for the hospitality industry. The rooms are clean if fairly basic, and feel more like a guesthouse than a proper hotel. The restaurant is airy and comfy, and the food is good (not great). Bottom line: if you want luxury, go with the Retreat next door, and if you want a clean, affordable, welcoming option, the Boutique does the trick.
- 410kassandram (10/5): Good food and service - The food was great and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our waiter Viateur was awesome. I recommend the plantain and taro chips with guacamole. I ordered the fish tacos which were tasty as well. My husband ordered the cheese burger and said it was good.
- A3368MMdaniellel (10/5): Great stay! - Great experience! The staff were so friendly, the room was clean, and they even brought us an anniversary dessert! The breakfast was amazing and had great variety.
- 435moniquej (10/5): Brian made our experience fantastic after a long travel day - The food was incredible, and I was pleased to know that two of the traditional African stews on the menu are vegan. Our waiter, Brian, took customer service to the next level. He was knowledgeable on all items on the menu and how they prepare each dish, was very patient with all my questions on what else could be made vegan and adjusted for picky kids, and delivered very personal and friendly service.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad but needs some improvement - Room was not that spacious, and we encountered a couple of issues with our bathroom: shower drain was clogged and water overflowing into the rest of the bathroom and our room! That same evening we noticed the water closet or bidet leaking water again in the bathroom.
Water pressure was very bad and hot water only worked a couple of minutes before switching to cold then back again to hot. It was disruptive and honestly annoying.
Food at breakfast looked good but tasted bland. Everything lacked salt or was unseasoned, a total missed opportunity and a wonder because we heard good things about the restaurant.
It was good enough to sleep in, but consider other options when staying in Kigali.

- Lisa (8/5): - The property was beautiful! So close to city center but you would never know it as it is built in the landscape and looks like a private tropical retreat
The staff could not do enough for you and very notable that they cared about every experience
The food was spectacular. We had breakfast lunch and dinner there. Our group did the wine pairing 6 course dinner. Do not miss this but skip lunch and go hungry. The meal and wine selection was to perfection. The bartender complimented each portion of the meal with a beautiful description of each wine with its origin! Just amazing!
I highly recommend the seamstress to make you or a loved one something special. I had them make my son a shirt and I just showed her a picture of him!! It was a perfect fit. So special!
We also had our laundry done and I would highly recommend that if you have a lengthier stay
A few things that could improve
- outside our boutique room 108 early morning was the employees starting their day just gathering and talking but woke us up. They were doing nothing wrong and unaware of their conversation waking us
It was also the spot if some power washing cars and whatever other items and that started at 6 am.
The evening receptionist caused confusion ever transaction. She actually forgot to check us out and called us and asked us to turn around and come back. If you know the traffic to airport in Kigali you will know that is not a request to be making. She needs more guidance as she is in training
Great stay!
- Claire M (7/5): Good hotel with some shortcomings that are easily overlooked - Breakfast was at another hotel a 5-min walk away which was unusual. However, the breakfast options were fantastic and varied. Best breakfast in Rwanda so far.
Bedroom was queen double with a balcony. The room was very tight on space and disappointingly the balcony was a square of ground hemmed in with a wall so felt claustrophobic. I expected a balcony overlooking something!
Swimming pool is lovely. Gym facilities decent.
Staff are overall pleasant but lack any autonomy on resolving guest queries and any issues that arise. The lack of flexibility with staff for customers is unnecessarily frustrating.
Hotel taxi service is great. Pricey, but reliable service. Lack of staff flexibility.
No balcony despite paying for it.
Moving to alternate hotel restaurant for breakfast.
- Shelley (10/5): - Absolutely loved the charm of this hotel! Everything was easy from check in to check out. Immaculate facilities! Great spa- great massages. The food was delicious. Especially breakfast! I would absolutely stay here again! Lots history too with the family. Check out A Thousand Hills to Heaven.
- LizUk (10/5): Amazing pool villa room - As in its name, this hotel is a piece of heaven and we had a wonderful stay. We rushed we could have stayed longer!
We were upgraded to a pool villa room and it was absolutely amazing. It’s huge either way absolutely everything you could need
Lovely comfy bed either crisp linen and an abundance of fluffy towels.
The indoor and outdoor showers were amazing and there is a tub in the room too
You have a personal outdoor pool which was warm and lovely to sit and chill in.
Gorgeous toiletries in the bathroom and a free minibar too
We had dinner in Fusion which was excellent. A particular call out for the pork belly and also an excellent wine list. Staff were very attentive too.
Breakfast was also good with a great buffet selection plus hot food to order as well
The hotel is well located in a quiet street in Kigali and we didn’t hear any outside noise.
A definite must stay place. We highly recommend!
- 581tracyb (10/5): Great place to stay - The Heaven Boutique hotel is a great place to stay in Kigali. It is in a quiet, leafy side street, but within walking distance of the city. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the Residence Queen rooms are a little on the small side (with two bags it's hard to even walk around the bed), but we also stayed in a Residence King room which was much more spacious. Also, each group of 2 rooms has its own quiet sitting room. The rooms are equipped with everything you would need, including fridge, kettle, coffeepot and hairdryer.
The restaurant on site is truly excellent. We enjoyed everything we ate there, including the plentiful breakfast buffet. The ambience on the shady deck is extremely pleasant; a nice place to rest with a Virunga Mist or a cocktail!
Thank you to all the staff; we will be back.
