Guest Reviews
- lameez devajee (8/5): - Staff were friendly and so helpful. Views were spectacular and privacy in The Coach house was amazing. Free mini bar was great. Room was beautiful clean and neat. The peace and quiet on the estate is amazing. The plugs outside on the patio is great. The private pool attached to the room was what drew me to book a stay and it was worth the money to have that access to the private pool all day for the entire weekend. The lack of things to do on the estate, no Spa,gym, sauna. Very limited options for breakfast for vegetarian/ halaal guests . Maybe add vanity packs for guests in bathroom for that extra 5 star feeling. Too little staff to manage everything. Room needs very small fixes example replace bathroom bin, lights at pool were not working .
- Edward (7/5): Good -
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Owen (9/5): Great rooms, views, service - We stayed as group of 10 split between the coach house (this review) and the main guest house and had a fantastic stay, the staff were excellent, easy check in check out and very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.
The rooms were amazing, huge with magnificent views across the countryside to the mountains. They were spotless clean, air conditioned, contained nice furnishings and a large comfortable bed. Outdoor area with private plunge pool and views was amazing.
Breakfast was great and the food in both the restaurant and pizza restaurant was delicious. There was very little we did not like, speed bumps after the track up were a little severe, but ok if you drove very very slowly (so doing their job, but I think a bit too well)
- Marius (6/5): Expected more - Location is wonderful. Close proximity to restaurants. The view. Close proximity of farm labour houses. Music until late at night. Spa bath wasn’t working. WiFi signal poor.
- Gert (8/5): Very good -
- Josephine (8/5): Very good -
- Liezil (7/5): nice place, but need attention to cleanliness and detail - Stunning view of the mountains, excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. Room was not clean. Lot of dust and carpets have not been vacuums properly. Lot of mosquitos in room.
- Garth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andre (1/5): Bad - Nothing Dear Sir/Madam,
I regret to inform you that my stay at your hotel has been unsatisfactory. While I understand that this venue was a 5-star hotel many years ago, unfortunately, the place is falling apart. It is apparent that the owners are not present, and as a result, there is no personal touch or upkeep of the facilities. Everything is outdated from the television and air conditioning to the bed and furniture.
To make matters worse, this is the coldest I have ever been while traveling, and my colleagues and I woke up sick. We could have slept outside for all the warmth this room provided. I stayed in the supposed presidential suite, but I found it extremely cold with no heating, and there were no extra blankets in the closet.
Additionally, we had breakfast at your hotel, and it took ages for the food to come out. As a business traveler, I find this unacceptable and below the standard expected of a hotel. The whole place needs a complete renovation; I don't think anything works. I have stayed in far better 3-star hotels.
It is disappointing to see a once highly esteemed 5-star hotel in such a dismal state. It is a shame that the hotel does not reflect the grandeur it had in 1800. As a hotel guest, I expect to receive at the very least the basic amenities.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and take necessary action to improve your facilities. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
- Trevor (9/5): Beautiful and comfortable - Beautiful location with excellent room
- Muhammad (8/5): Very good - Staff were Brilliant
- Harriet (8/5): Oustanding location - The location is stunning and the suite we had in the Coach House was amazing. It was very large with a seating area, private pool. The view was out of this world. We arrived at 1.30pm and we were advised we couldn't start the check in process until 2pm, no one even checked to see if our room was ready which often is the case that close to the check in time. We were early however it would have been nice if they could have suggested a wine tasting at the property or general information. We ended up going to nearby wine farms until we knew we could definitely check in. Whilst the staff were very nice, the service was generally pretty slow. There is huge potential for this to be a very special experience!
- Bridget (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanne-louise (8/5): Very good -
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing Views and great comfortable rooms. The family staying in the coach House loved their private pools. Evans was amazing at sorting out our party of 26 family members for a family wedding close by. Thank you
- Hayes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alisia (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (10/5): Absolutely memorable and in dire need of a repeat in summer. - The location was stunning and the views from the room of the mountains were incredible.
The welcome we got was lovely and we only dealt with 1 server, Thando, the whole stay who was an absolute star. Having breakfast delivered to your door and set up on the patio was an extra special touch. the fireplace was lovely. and the massive Spa bath and the walk in shower in the bathroom were spectacular. Booking the coach hose room also included the complementary minibar which was a lovely perk of the booking. could have had more kindling wood for the fireplace as it was a bit hard to get the fire started properly but managed to get extra blitz which helped and then the fire was amazing.
Other than that we loved every minute of it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - Wellington has limited options and the Coach House reflects such.. I’ll not return here..
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely room and view but poor service. - We stayed 3 nights in the Coach house recently. The rooms are fabulous and the views are stunning. Definitely 5* rooms however the whole place is let down by a few service issues.
- We had no wifi in our rooms for the entire stay. When we enquired about this on day 1 we were told that it sometimes doesn't work and no effort was made to fix the problem.
- Our plunge pool was filthy. There was sand in the bottom and when we looked at the neighbouring room's pool, ours was definitely green. Again we asked on day 1 if this could be cleaned and nothing was done throughout our entire stay.
- We stayed at the hotel hoping to use their bikes as we had seen this advertised. Sadly the bikes were in such bad condition it made it impossible to ride them on the many wonderful trails that are in the vicinity.
Overall it was a lovely stay but definitely not 5*.
- Maria (6/5): Vacker utsikt men underbemannat hotell - Underbemannat hotell.
- stefan (8/5): - Wir hatten eine sehr erholsame Woche dort! Restaurantauswahl in der Gegend eher bescheiden....
