- Larkin (5/5): Good on housekeeping/room, bad on location and terrible on food . - Very comfortable rooms although some stains on the floor. Bathroom was very nice, and modern. Very nice bed and excellent housekeeping - the room was perfectly cleaned every day The food was terrible. Very very poor and at times inedible. The menu has changed from what was on the website. Steak was burnt to a crisp and well done when ordered medium rare. Fish batter was soggy. Mushroom pasta was bland. Breakfast was bland with no standouts, should really be included with the room as it wasn’t worth the extra charge. Staff and kitchen were shockingly slow and constantly out of certain deserts.
- Paul (8/5): - Lovely bedroom and dining area. The swimming pool.was very tired with tiles missing
- Donna (10/5): -
- Stuart (4/5): Disappointed - Location Poor quality service in restaurant and food selection and quality poor
- Reece (1/5): - The property was closed and i couldn’t check in waste of money

- Arnold (10/5): - We had a perfect stay. Staff and room was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Very good stay and very good value thank you. The swimming pool area looked a little run down and needs some maintenance spentd on it.
- Teodolina (9/5): Excelente ! - las camas y las almohadas eran excelentes, desayuno muy bueno también, restaurante de la noche barbaro! el baño un poco justo, sobre todo la ducha

- Jennifer (5/5): Nice but definitely won't be re-visiting. - Breakfast was good but overpriced for children. Food was good in the restaurant. Pool facilities were nice. Queued for over 30 mins at check in which wasn't a great start. Ordered a bottle of prosecco at dinner which was brought to our table and left in the ice bucket. We opened it ourselves which was a first in a restaurant! Beds were rock hard and uncomfortable so didn't get much sleep. Surprised there was no mini fridge in the room. Also, had to pay to park which was a shame after paying so much to stay.
- Sam (9/5): Comfortable and clean - Comfortable and had everything that we needed fit our over night stay Rooms were comfortable and clean
- Matthew (6/5): -
- Alison (7/5): It was ok - The complimentary cookies were excellent and a bonus they were warm. Beds were excellent so comfy and pillows were like clouds excellent quality Lifts took forever girls in restaurant were quite slow in bringing drinks
- Stephen (7/5): Overpriced for an average hotel. - Nice and clean room, friendly staff and efficient bar service Beds are terribly hard and very uncomfortable. Same comment following our stay last year as well.
Just because there was a conference on at the same time shouldn’t mean the restaurant serves a limited menu. The food we ate the first night was rather poor and the buffet option extremely limited and substandard for the price.

- Tom (7/5): Short stay near our daughter, familiar surroundings and mainly enjoyed - Having visited a number of times, particularly last Christmas, knew what to expect, and had a good familiar feel. Breakfast only on one day, and was excellent. Room was next to lift annex, so was convenient, and readily accessible. Room was very well presented, and staff were friendly and efficient. Meal on first night was disappointing, slow service, ordered cocktail was accepted, but then found to be unavailable. One meal, gnocchi, was very sickly and ultimately left, although no offer of price reduction made. Main staff member at breakfast very good but run off her feet, while other young members strolled around in a dream. Pool area very tired, tiling needing replacement, disappointingly no jacuzzi either.
- Katarzyna (10/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): Amazing - The suit was massive, clean and lovely. Stayed for a conference, was so fun much! Room and facilities
- Paul (5/5): Need to do better. - Comfortable room and bed.
Good breakfast.
Good pool and leisure areas but this needs some TLC. Cleanliness (very sticky work surface), grubby looking dressing gowns.
Very noisy as the room is above the loading and bin area. We were woken several times by early deliveries and rubbish being taken out, once at 2.30am! We could also hear the next door occupants clearly, so they would have been able to hear us too. Maybe put some decent double glazing in and sound insulation between the interconnecting doors.
The restaurant food was passable, but no more. Also expensive for what was served - The battered cod was junior sized and at £20! The ambiance was dreadful as you are looking at the breakfast bar with packets of cereals, coffee machines etc.
- patriciaeS4584TC (4/5): Dissapointing Stay - I stay with Hilton quite a lot, so I feel like I’ve got a good idea of what to expect. That’s actually why this stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke-on-Trent was so disappointing it just didn’t feel anywhere near the usual standard.
To be fair, check-in was a good start. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and everything was quick and easy. No complaints there at all, and it gave a good first impression.
Unfortunately, things went downhill pretty quickly when we got to the room. We’d booked a King Executive room, so you expect it to be ready but it clearly wasn’t. There was rubbish left in the room, cleaning supplies still there, and weirdly no towels at all. It honestly felt like the room hadn’t been finished or checked before we arrived.
Cleanliness overall just wasn’t great, which immediately makes it hard to relax. On top of that, the air conditioning didn’t work, which made the stay more uncomfortable than it should’ve been, especially over three nights.
When we raised these issues, the staff were actually really nice about it, apologetic and polite, which I do appreciate. Throughout the stay, everyone we dealt with was friendly, including at checkout. So the problem definitely wasn’t the attitude of the staff, it just felt like things weren’t being managed properly behind the scenes.
The restaurant was another letdown. For the price, you expect something that feels a bit special, but it really didn’t. The food quality was pretty poor, and the service was very slow, we waited nearly an hour for our food. It just didn’t feel worth it at all.
What made it worse was the overall atmosphere. We’d made the effort to dress up a bit, expecting a nicer experience, but it felt really casual. Instead of feeling like a treat, it just felt disappointing and not in line with what you’d expect from a Hilton.
There wasn’t one big issue that ruined the stay, it was more just loads of small things adding up—room not being ready, lack of cleanliness, air con not working, poor restaurant experience. Individually you might overlook them, but together it just made the whole stay feel below par.
Checkout was quick and easy, and again the staff were lovely, so no issues there at all.
Overall, this just didn’t feel like a typical Hilton experience. As someone who stays with them often, that consistency is usually why I book—but this one really missed the mark. The staff were great, but the rest of the experience didn’t match up.
For the price and expectations, I’d give it a 2/10 and probably wouldn’t stay here again unless things improved.
- Maria (4/5): Tegenvaller - Geen aandacht voor gasten maar wel voor de luidruchtige feestgangers van de events Teveel events, low class
- Josie (4/5): -
- Muhammad Umar (9/5): We loved staying at DoubleTree - Clean and well managed
- Caroline (10/5): Perfect Hotel for a family fun weekend on the Park. - Great hotel to stay to visit the Alton Towers Park.
The Restaurant at the hotel is really good and all staff is very friendly.

- Henderson (5/5): - Good sized rooms, food was decent & reasonable. The hot tub doesn’t exist and the webpage on Booking.com is completely misleading. We were looking forward to it all day and then to find out it no longer exists… yikes!
The pool area is basic / small. Think dipping pool with young kids. The sauna / steam not really working properly in terms of heat/steam. Never used the gym as the opening hours meant it was not possible.
- Aleksandra (7/5): A comfortable and enjoyable stay overall, let down by poor parking management during busy events. - We stayed with you this weekend and overall had a really nice experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated the balloons for my son’s birthday – that was a lovely touch. The breakfast was nice too. A couple of points that affected our stay.
Check-in was quite slow due to only one receptionist managing a very busy period with events taking place. While we understand this may have been an unusually busy time, having additional staff available would have made a big difference.
The main issue for us was parking. Although we paid for parking and registered our vehicle, the car park was extremely full in the evening due to the event, with cars parked in non-designated areas. This made it feel quite uncertain whether we would have a space if we left and returned, which limited our ability to go out during the evening.
The parking was also so densely packed that it unfortunately resulted in our car being scratched (rear side door) while parked. We fully understand it’s not possible to determine how this happened, but the level of overcrowding in the car park likely contributed to it.
It may be worth reviewing how parking is managed during large events to ensure hotel guests still have reasonable access and that the car park remains properly controlled.
- Sarah (8/5): Great hotel for overnight stay to Alton Towers would recommend - Lovely & clean, rooms well maintained. Had a meal in the restaurant which was reasonably priced & good quality. Cookies always nice on arrival. Only one lift working, booked swimming but it was very overcrowded so didn’t get to use pool even though we had booked a 45 minute slot.
- Sharon (8/5): - Comfortable Didn’t get our cookies & have to pay for parking if booking through a third party rather than directly with them
- Douglas (5/5): - The premises are great
We've stayed here before that's why we rebooked Service was extremely slow at reception and restaurant on this occasion. There were events taking place but no extra staff to deal with the volume of people
- Guest (10/5): -
- Erin (7/5): A good time had by all. - Cookies on arrival. Good location close to Monkey Forest in Trentham. Friendly staff.
- Veronica Shaw (10/5): Very comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff - Lovely friendly staff in a very pleasant hotel. Comfortable bed with a lovely mattress and great shower with nice toiletries.
The restaurant and bar areas were nicely decorated and the restaurant had a good selection of meals on the menu.
The leisure centre with pool was an added bonus. The one thing that would have improved it would have been a mini fridge in the room.
- Judit (10/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): - Very relaxing stay
- Emma (6/5): Not to usual DoubleTree standards - Helpful staff, nicely presented hotel and location. Nice showers. Warm pool. Complimentary cookies. Pool was tiny as were the steam and sauna. No prior warning that own padlocks needed for lockers so belongings remained unlocked. Also had to walk out of changing rooms along corridor to get to the pool.
The food at breakfast was nice but the evening meal was disappointing. The chicken had to be sent back as it still had blood in it and the steak was ridiculously chewy despite being £30.
The room was too hot at night time and would not cool down making it difficult to sleep.
- Callum (1/5): - A bad experience! Complaint will be going in
- beresfordmoyle (4/5): No omlettes on a Saturday! - I recently stayed at The Double Tree Hilton for one night. When I arrived in the afternoon, I wanted to go to the toilet after my long drive. The Gents was closed for maintenance so I used the Disabled Toilet. It was filthy, not replenished with either toilet paper or paper towels. That was my first impression of this 4 star Hilton brand hotel.
I waited to check in at the reception desk. 2 staff members on duty, one doing administration work leaving the other receptionist to deal with the guests waiting to check in. When I approached the receptionist doing administration work to check in, I was told to see the other Receptionist dealing with the guests.
I was eventually attended to and given a cold cookie which was not very pleasant. One bite and I threw it in the bin. I thought they were supposed to be warm and delicious. Mine wasn't.
I asked where I could have lunch. I was directed to the Bar. Slight problem - no staff were there! Eventually someone turned up and was surprised to see guests waiting. The onion soup I had was not something to write home about and the crumpets it came with were only luke warm. Certainly the butter could not melt into the crumpets.
The final straw was the next day. I asked if I could order an omelette and was told by the waitress on duty I could and so I placed a request and went to wait for its arrival. The waitress returned and apologized. It appears the chef on duty doesn't make omelettes on a Saturday! But I was welcome to help myself to the buffet.
The impression I got from this Hotel is the art of hospitality has been lost in favour of administration tasks, and the operational convenience of its staff members. Heaven forbid you ask something out of the norm! Staff interaction with guests was perfunctory. The essential was done. Nothing more. Was I welcomed? No. Will I be back? No.
- Ashley (9/5): -
- Linsey (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): My stay - Everything really apart from the lift being dirty, with cookie bags, cookies on the floor and general bits of paper for quite a few hours, also one night there was trash all over the floor in the bar/reception area. Same as above.
- Ciara (3/5): - Very comfortable room and polite staff The whole hotel was overrun woth large group who made a complete mess, broken bottles, nappies etc, the staff couldn't possibly keep up woth cleaning. Kids running around all night making a lot of noise.
- Wendy (6/5): -
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Rakesh Radia (10/5): -
- Riley (1/5): - Awful stay tried cancelling prior but had no reply rearranged transport at extra cost and arrived to a huge loud group couldn’t get near the bar for a drink so stayed in to room to people kicking our door in , draft in the window that wouldn’t close
- Tom (1/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Karen (6/5): Good location but poor service, especially in the bar & restaurant, with dirty plates left on the majority of tables - The location was good with shops nearby. Parking available on site (at a £7.50 per night charge though!) The beds were uncomfortable.
The shower didn’t drain and started to overflow after a few minutes. Only one lift working which caused queues.
We had an evening meal in the bar area - there were lots of empty tables with dirty plates/food left and not cleared. Very off-putting when eating surrounded by dirty plates and food. We paid for a 2-course meal for the children but their desserts never arrived. After waiting another 30 mins we left without as there were no staff and the bar queue was always busy. It was the same situation at breakfast the next morning - limited clean tables, majority of tables were empty but still full of dirty plates and food everywhere. We had to clean our own table just to be able to sit down. We pre-booked a table the night before so there’s no excuse for such poor service. There were no glasses for juice or water - people started to use the paper take-out coffee cups in order to have a drink of juice. It was so bad that we declined the breakfast the second morning despite pre-paying for this upfront. It was generally a nice hotel but not enough staff & poor service - no staff waiting-on or clearing tables & dirty plates everywhere. For this reason we wouldn’t return.
- Denis (9/5): -
- Culture59015860160 (6/5): Breakfast was chaotic - Breakfast was chaotic, no plates, no cups, no cutlery, coffee machine needed empty.. the staff was polite even with such stress, felt under staff
- Sasha (8/5): - Good location, staff pretty good, was okay clean. Staff in josiahs restaurant a tad slow but not majorly, cleanliness is okay not bad not amazing clean enough its a bit dated and maybe in need of a refurb.
- David (9/5): Friendly welcome and great service - Good breakfast and a pleasant stay. Nothing
- Harriet (2/5): Unacceptable - Room was clean and bed was comfortable There was people screaming, fighting and running in the corridor, banging on the door and furniture being thrown about. Unable to get hold of reception, wasn’t able to sleep due to noise so left and checked out at 11pm
- Samantha (9/5): -
- Frank (3/5): -
- Jonathan (6/5): Average - Room space was good facilities where good being able to use a pool Bathroom shower screen leaked fan in bathroom didn’t work very busy and noise with kids running around all night up and down corridors
- Lesley-Anne (4/5): Disappointing. - Breakfast was lovely and we had a beautiful lunch in the bar. Dinner service was very slow. The bar area was horrendously noisy as there was a large group booking who had taken over the full area. The hotel knew about the booking in advance yet it was very under staffed. I also feel the large group could have been offered the use of a private function room to be able to socialise at ease with their kids and that would also allow other guests to be able to relax within the bar area. The bar was right next to the restaurant so we couldn't enjoy our meal due to the noise levels. Overall cleanliness of the hotel was not good. The bar/restaurant area was a mess. Glasses and plates lying around everywhere. This could all have been avoided if adequate amount of staff were on. These issues are down to poor management and planning. All staff we spoke with were lovely and could tell they were run off their feet.
- Sujitha Rajeevkumar (9/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Overnight stay while at Alton Towers - The rooms and bed are super comfy :)
Pool and sauna was nice
Warm Cookie on arrival is amazing Room service was unavailable. I ordered to collect and no one rang. When I went to enquwthw food had been sitting there for half hour
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely hotel, with gorgeous breakfast! - Clean and well presented.
- Katy (10/5): Staff were lovely, restaurant was great, room comfy - Nice location and the pool was great N/A
- Corrigan (1/5): - pool was not exclusive to hotel guests and was therefore fully booked upon arrival
chlorine in the pool bleached clothing
too noisy during the night with machinery and hotel guests
food ran out at restaurant
- Rachael (10/5): Fantastic stay , the staff were so friendly and kind. - Lovely but no berries which was abit disappointing.
- Lois (7/5): - Some parts of the bathroom needed fixing/replacing
- Imtiyaz (10/5): Lovely stay highly recommend - The staff were great and very friendly. Kids loved it! They also did a easter egg hunt which was fun!

- Daniel (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Breakfast was good Event going on at the time. You had to walk past about 20 people smoking at the entrance which filled the whole reception / lifts / hallways with smoke, stunk. Room was dirty and when I answered there text with the issues we had no response
