- Mark (8/5): - This hotel is in an excellent position yards from the beach & very close to the centre of St Leonards. The breakfast is excellent value for money with a wide selection of hot & cold options. I would have expected to find an ironing board & iron in the room.
- Bryan (8/5): - A lovely old hotel with beautiful features inside. The only which I was a bit uncomfortable with is the road to the rear of hotel which was a bit manky and a lot of rubbish
- Elizabeth (10/5): Sea view - The hotel was going through a external facelift...from the completed section it will look super when it's all done. The interior is historic and very attractive. Our room was massive and had a marvellous sea view. Very clean and comfortable.

- Michael (4/5): - We usually enjoy our stay at the Royal Victoria , however, this time the front of the building was covered in scaffolding. We booked a premier room with sea view, the only view we had from the room was through filthy glass, of builders rubbish and a mess of scaffolding. Impossible to see anything else. Of course we complained but there were no other rooms available. I have since written to the hotel manager and in fact the owner, no reply from either. I think that says a lot. Disgraceful .
- Lorraine (6/5): - Had a very nice stay for 2 nights at the royal Victoria.beautiful building but could do with a little updating. Disappointed that scaffolding outside windows without pre warning. Breakfast was self serve but waiting times for replenishing hot food and toasting machine didn't toast so had to queue for one tiny toaster. It meant one element of breakfast always got cold. The staff were very helpful though but could do with more at breakfast time. Also disappointed as sat in piano bar 2 nights and no one played it!

- Karan (6/5): An average stay for a £140 suite - The stay could have been better. Booked a suite but surprised there was no fan. When asked for it, the fans conditioned was not functioning well. No fridge and the shower was decent. Could have been better for 140 quid a night.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Oh dear! - The hotel was so bad we left after one night of 2 night trip. I asked for a refund but unlikely we will get one. The receptionist barely spoke when we checked in so we didn't feel welcome. The hotel is in a filthy state with dirt, detritus and flecks of paint on all the carpets. There was a towel dumped in the middle of our corridor and it was still there the next day. I’m not surprised though, for the entire time we were there we didn’t see one cleaner, not even in the morning. The bed matresss was lumpy and uncomfortable. The shower and bath controls were awkward to use and get water coming out of the shower. The final event that made us leave was when the large, metal shower head fell from its bracket and hit my partner on the head. During the night the fire alarm went off, and having dressed and gone down to reception. The night person, said it was probably ok and we could go back to our rooms, although he didn’t understand why it had gone off. This is against all fire regulations. The TV stopped working after a bit, and the hair drier was difficult to use as a short flex came out of a drawer connected to the mains with some dodgy looking wiring. Breakfast options were meagre, and the coffee was cold. On leaving we asked to see the manager, Dr Shin, who wasn’t available. But receptionist said he would try to get a refund. The other two couples checking out were also asking for refunds. If you google Dr Shin, Royal Victoria Hotel you will discover some interesting stuff.
- Joanna (8/5): Dated hotel - needs more care - Communal spaces were dirty and smelly, staircases and lift too. Inside the room was much cleaner and nicer though... bar staff wasn't attentive or much helpful. Dry plants in the firts floor lobby looked neglected too.

Car parking is available around the side streets. Good transport to Bexhill by bus or train, and a short walk along the promenade to Hastings old town. Would stay again.

- Jonathan (10/5): A great classic. - A lovely unspoilt hotel which still has all its classic features and isn’t a bland, generic place. Breakfast is one of the best I’ve had in awhile. It all tasted fresh and didn’t look like it had been sitting around for hours.
- Francis (8/5): - The room provided had 4 steps down to the bathroom and no mirrors in the main area. Every time I needed the bathroom or a mirror, I had to go down the steps that had no hand rail. I am disabled and use a cane. Was not very convenient. The breakfast provided was great and plentiful. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

- Paul (6/5): A very tired hotel - The staff here are great. But the hotel has seen better days, much better days. The windows just didn't seal so we had a gale blowing in all night, VERY tired decor and threadbare carpets, very noisy fan in the bathroom. The shower wasn;t a mixer, you just had to try and balance the hot and cold. Breakfast was expensive at £14 and not very good. Hours were 8 to 10, we went down at 9 (so not late) and the food was stone cold. The coffee, although marked as filter or instant, was all instant. Very basic choice of non cooked. For the money I expected alot more. Give it a miss and go in to town. Parking is a nightmare. I drove around for about 20 minutes looking for a spot. I did find somewhere but it was a bit dodgy with the double yellows.
- Mark (8/5): Amazing history - This hotel has an amazing history and needs to be supported so it can be preserved. Our room was a really good size (triple) and had a separate dressing area. The breakfast was excellent value. The bathroom is due a revamp but was still serviceable. Make sure you check out the piano bar and main stairwells.

- Robert (10/5): - We had a very comfortable mini-break, looking for a seaside hotel with a bit of character, rather than anything bland and corporate. This fitted the bill very well. The rooms are large and understandably a little challenging to heat, but the staff managed well and we had a pleasant and very well-done evening meal on one of the nights.

Outdated decor, a weirdly low bed with a mattress like a marshmallow, and a shabby bathroom where I couldn’t face using the bath or shower. The 1970s want their hotel back.
- Tammi (10/5): good pick near Hastings - Great stay as we traveled the south coast of England. Wonderfully walkable waterfront with a lot of restaurants just steps away. Very nice and helpful service at the front desk, and parking was super easy.
- Dorothy (6/5): - The hotel could do with a good cleaning. The bed is the worst I have slept on and I have used budget hotels. Requested an Iron it took an hour for one to be provided after several calls to the receptionist.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was an incredible building and my room had a spiral staircase in it! Very old fashioned and a marvel to see. It’s quite outdated though, my cold tap didn’t work and the plughole was quite full with hair so the water didn’t drain… but that was part of the charm of it in a way. If you k own what to expect, it’s great - location, value and view!
- Sara (8/5): Poached eggs! - The whole place was a bit tired and the decor and carpets needed attention. The shower door over the bath kept springing open and water leaked on the floor. Most of the staff were helpful although the breakfast service could be improved. In our first breakfast I asked for poached eggs but was told that I was too late because breakfast had nearly finished although there was 45 minutes left. On the 2nd day I was successful and had poached eggs although chef was not confident with them. They were perfectly cooked and on the next day when I asked again I was declined but when I said they were good the day before I was given them!!

- Robert (8/5): Overnight stay - Room on 4th floor with a sea view. Bed was comfortable, room we would call, shabby chic, could do with another chair. Towels lovely & white. We have stayed here quite a lot over times the years & are staying again in November. There are a few parking spaces but all were gone by 4pm on a Friday. Had to park in the seafront car park at a cost of £7.50 for 24 hours. We didn’t eat in the hotel. Ate in Forte’s Italian restaurant about 10 min walk from hotel, which was very good. Would recommend hotel.

Communal toilets were very dark. Restaurant was ok and good value for money but a more modern menu and improved ambiance would make it a more sociable experience.

Same second morning i saw a family clear a table themselves .Also a film crew were there they appeared to take over the facilities so couldn't use the bar that evening or the dining room with the nice sea view , felt this should not have been at our expense .

- Richard (6/5): Very Dated - Check in was ok, I booked and paid for it online and had a family room as there were no double rooms available, I wanted a double bed and was disappointed to find that it was only a 4ft6. The whole room was very dated, the hot water took forever to come through in the shower which was very poor and the bin still had empty tuna salad container and water bottles which made me think the room hadn't been cleaned. The electric wall heater gave off a smell for quite a while when I plugged it in. The breakfast was good which is a plus point. I was only there overnight so couldn't be bothered to say anything which maybe was wrong but I'd probably not stay there again for the price
- Kirsten (2/5): - Our reservation was overbooked to someone else and I was not telephoned and did not know until we went to check in. Staff eventually found an " emergency" spare room ,equivalent to what we booked ,however Expedia originally charged me £120 and in fact the room we were given was in fact £90 at the hotel. The room itself was very "tired" looking and obviously had not been decorated in a very long time.The bathroom was very dated ,old and not cleaned adequately with mould and dirt around the bath seals.The shower was very old, basic and with verytemperamental water temperature - went from very cold to scalding hot. Overall a very disappointing stay and extremely overpriced for the poor condition of the room .

- Verified traveler (2/5): Could have been better spoiled a good stay - Breakfast could be hoter evening meal cold and steak inedible was told i could have free sweet but declined steak conld not chew still had to pay for meal end of stay booking out asked for deposit back and was told there's no record of me paying one hundred pounds deposit incase there was any damage to the room and because i paid by cash i am 67 years old and my friend payed by card it very embarrassing being told we had to go away as though we were telling lies but after three days we are going to get our money back but you need to make sure it never happens again
- Karen (8/5): Spacious double room. - Very spacious double room, clean and comfortable. Lovely to have a couch and coffee table in a standard room. We were able to sit and watch the sea in comfort! Lovely breakfast, good choice. I would have liked it served earlier at the weekend though. We are early risers and 8am was a bit late for us. There is very limited parking on site so we had to hunt around the surrounding streets for a space. Something to bear in mind if you are not very mobile?

- Janet (8/5): - Wonderful sea views, especially from the lovely piano lounge, terrific for pre-dinner drinks and bar food. The lighting in the dining room was so low however that you couldn't read the menu. Staff were delightful.
- Neil (8/5): - Some of the staff were great, though the attitude of the reception when I turned up 3hrs earl for check-in was decidedly lacking. No help provided, no checking to see if the room was ready even though I was early, instead (because the day was very windy and wet) I spent an uncomfortable 3 hours in their so could 'lounge', decidedly lacking in amenities and the bar was tucked round a corner so not immediately visible if you go upstairs to it. The guy doing the bar and the front desk were very helpful later on, but that initial impression is pretty poor. On a quick look the décor was definitely suffering, peeling pain on all window frames and the net curtain in my room was torn AND had what looked like mildew. Having the bathroom/toliet down some stairs and round a corner was a bit strange as well and I could see that older people would really struggle as there is no hand rail down those steps

- Elizabeth (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - We arrived at reception at 2.40 and without even checking were told our room was not ready until 3.00! So we had to return in 20 minutes! Our evening meal in the restaurant was very good indeed. Breakfast was well below average, with most of the food either cold or dried up. Certainly not worth £29. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The sofa in the lounge was somewhat small but luckily we didn't spend much time sitting on it.

- Glen (10/5): - We had a lovely couple of days here. The property is 19th century and admittedly it is in need of a bit of careful renovation now. However the staff could not be more helpful and friendly and the breakfast was lovely. Our room was very grand looking, absolutely huge with high ceilings.
- Cheryl (8/5): Comfy historical hotel. - I loved the hotel, lovely historical place. A little tired in places. Overall the place was worth the money charged. The food at the restaurant was nice.

- Tristan (8/5): - Staff were very helpful and accomodating and the room provided essential features but it is difficult to get past the creaky sad condition of the property. It is beyond "fading queen" status and needs a renovation soon.
- Andrew (10/5): Great overnight at the RVH - Comfortable and clean. Great sea view and breakfast. 4th floor slight corridor odours. Good reception and bar service. Convenient for beaches and city centre Hastings.
- K (8/5): Sea views - Right on the seafront with lovely views, bit dated but that just gave it character. Very clean. Breakfast was good. Had to use on street parking as their tiny car park was full, but it was all free.
- Matthew (10/5): Confortable stay in a historic setting. - Stayed on a room-only basis. Friendly greeting at the desk, the room was amost like a mini-suite with the bedroom, a second room with chairs, table and tea-making equipment, leading through to the bathroom. No issues with sleeping, bed was comfortable, room spacious, water hot, etc. This is a historic building, just as I like them, quite well maintained, at a very reasonable price point with an attractive and atmospheric interior and a great overall vibe. Not all swish and modern, if that's what you're looking for. I would definitely stay here again. Great views to the front, decent from the rear.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was pleasantly surprised as the exterior is quite old fashioned. It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast room had a lovely sea view but the coffee served was very poor and the cooked offerings looked rather tired but there was a good choice of fruit salad, yogurts and pastries. I will return!

- Patricia (8/5): - Unfortunately arrived in storm and high winds, so hard to enjoy the surrounding property. Huge rooms (could hear the wind whistling through the windows), plenty of furniture, enjoyed room service and breakfast.

- MELANIE (10/5): Lovely old dame - Lovely stay at the Royal Victoria hotel which is right on the promenade with great views over the beach. Large buffet breakfast selection and very nice restaurant and bar area.

- sue (8/5): Pleasant stay - Went to Show and wanted to stay nearby. Good room rate, comfy bed, lovely warm room. Small things, only 2 cups for three person booking although 3 glasses in bathroom. Generally tired decor, but no issues clean wise in the room. Great breakfast but shown to table with obviously dirty table cloth. Bar shut when we got back Fri evening only about 10.30pm, would have been nice to have had a nightcap!
- Helen (8/5): Great place to stay in St Leonards on Sea - Great hotel with great access to both the town centre and sea front. Very helpful staff and will definitely be returning later in the year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The only thing that was not so good was that because of Coronavirus the breakfast only consited of a sandwich, a bag of crisps, an apple, and a bottle of water. I stayed there during the summer, and the breakfast then was good.
