- Malcolm (6/5): Moat house - The aircon was broken and the outside area resembled a scrap yard. Not sure if the place was being referbished but did not see any skips.
- Adam (4/5): Disapointing - Very disappointing. Turned up about 10pm to many lights not functioning properly in the car park. Smooth check in but rooms are very tired and discoloured. Air con does not work. Breakfast very disappointing too.

- Paul (8/5): - The hotel itself was good. While it is a bit dated, we got two rooms that were adjoining. The temperature was not great. The breakfast was over priced for what we got.

Food quality for dinner was surprisingly good, buffet breakfast food quality was low, but if you don't mind about lower quality and are more interested in a large breakfast then you will be happy. For me, the bedroom temperature was set far to high.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Long way to go Hotel! - Flooded car park but nothing new for this hotel even when it was the Hilton.. Many years of this. New reception area, clean and inviting but after leaving there the best way of describing the hotel is run-down and shoddy, which needs lots of work carried out quickly in the stairways (distinct smell of damp), hallways and rooms. The room we had looked like there had been a flood in the bathroom with the bath panel curling up, the door splitting and peeling, the shower is about 20 years old, random brackets left on the wall which I guess were old towel rails but who knows? The room felt old and well used (mind you this hotel was used as an immigration refugee hotel until recently!) Getting a taxi from the hotel and back was a nightmare because firms did not know it had open its doors to the public again instead of temporary housing for other people! When taxi were sourced, the reputation of the hotel was lower than a snakes belly because of the people that were there! Not a good start in anyway for the hotel and if they don't announcing they are open as a normal hotel again with paying customers this will not be open for long. A lot of work to be done with the local companies i.e. taxi companied etc and loads of work internally urgently required to make it a place you want to stay at or even recommend.
- Nicolle (2/5): - Our room was an executive room so we expected it to be nice! We were above a pub, which played loud banging music until gone midnight, I’ve been in quieter nightclubs! The worse part was they started the music again at 6.30am!! No one wants to be woken up to people blaring out sweet Caroline at 6.30 on a Sunday morning! Totally disrespectful

- Martin (2/5): - People smoking outside windows until 1am, car park flooded to get to my vehicle on leaving. Someone took a number 2 in the hallway of hotel outside rooms and this was left there for considerable time. Guessing this hotel is being used to house immigrants/probation adults.

- Jade (8/5): - The hotel was clean and smart, the dining options were excellent and the food absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly. The room was clean and well equipped. Bathroom also nice and clean. The bed was a little uncomfortable but not terribly so. Unfortunately it was a very warm September weekend. The first night the room was unbearably got even with the window open as the air con wasn't working and the heating was on. We reported this to reception and asked if there was at least a fan. Unfortunately this wasn't provided and the AC wasn't fixed, we were told it was out on the entire side of the hotel our room was on, they had at least turned the heating off but it was still unpleasant warm even with having left the windows open. This did mean we didn't sleep at all well especially as the noise was excessive from parties and people coming and going from the hotel. The TV also wasn't tuned in so we couldn't even watch TV to pass the night and even though it was a smart TV it wasn't connected to the internet so we couldn't even cast to the TV from our devices. Hopefully the renovation work they are doing will fix these issues soon.
- Vicky (2/5): - The worst place I have ever stayed, dirty, disgusting, smelly. Marks on carpets and broken drawers. Skylight window so dirty couldn’t see through it.
- Jessica (8/5): Attentive staff, few small improvements needed - Very helpful and accomodating reception team. Corridors and door to room looked rundown and not inkeeping with the interoior standard of the rooms and lobby area, which were modern and attractive. Cleanliness standard good but bedding could have smelt fresher, mattress was also quite firm. AC not very effective, could only open the window slightly so room was quite warm.

- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was dirty and extremely tired. The toilet had brown stains, the curtains were covered in stains, the bedside table was covered in cigarette burns, the room was hot and stuffy/smelly. The Atlantic beer tasted bad/different and gave me an upset stomach (only had 2 pints). This is probably the worst hotel I have stayed in.
- Chris (4/5): - This is a hotel that has seen better days. On arrival there was nobody at the reception desk and we were left waiting for 20 minutes for a staff member to check us in. The room we booked was an executive suite for us and or 11 year old daughter, however the sofa bed was so uncomfortable with unpadded springs that all three of us spent the night in the king size bed. The hotel is undergoing some undergoing some refurbishment, which it badly needs, however the drilling and hammering at 11PM on a Sunday night was completely unacceptable. We paid extra for breakfast and honestly wish we’re had not bothered. The food had been left under heated lights for quite some time and was tough and greasy. The hot drink machine was broken so no hot drinks were available. All in all it was not worth the money. It was such a shame to see how this hotel has deteriorated over the past 10 years since we last stayed.
- Sarah (4/5): - Our room was musty smelling and there was a giant wooden beam next to the bed with barely any room to walk past without walking into it during the night if you needed to use the bathroom. The bed was soft and small. Not a good stay.
- Kevin (2/5): - The bathroom had mould and no hot water. There was damp everywhere. I even had to go back to the reception to get teabags as there wasn’t any in the room at all.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tired and a poor breakfast - The place felt very tired, and a shadow of it's former self. The breakfast was over-priced. I had to pester to receive a fork, sugar, and milk - all things you should expect to be available at breakfast.

- Rikki (6/5): Two night stay best Western plus? - Check in fine Room nice Evening meal poor. Ordered fish and chips which came from the poachers pub as kitchen closed It was burnt. I struggled the even get a lnife into the batter. I showed the staff member who said about getting another but by the time he asked it was to late as partner had almost finished. Still charged the 18.50 for it. The breakfast was ok. Croissants not cooked in midlle and fried eggs seen better days. Best part room
- Lindsay (2/5): Black Mould on the Walls! - BLACK MOULD ALL OVER THE WALLS! Glasses not cleaned. Terrible stay.
- Paul (6/5): - Appreciate the property maybe in the process of refurbishment but this should be highlighted upfront. extremely damp and musty smell especially in hall and stair wells and lifts out of action. If i was hotel owners i would also look at quality of work being done and poor paintwork and lack of attention to detail like replacing worn stained carpets damage woodwork like skirtings door frames or architrave will let the refurbishment down. Breakfast was adequate but again quality not the best and cooked breakfast elements not kept warm enough. thankfully only 1 night stay and chosen purely for location to the places we needed to visit.
- I (2/5): Dire - Mould infested. Do not use their iron unless want clothes ruined. Do not be fooled by 'new' lobby and bar. Rooms are mould infested and not decorated in last 20 years
- Elizabeth (6/5): - The first floor room we were allocated was just above the pub, and on Friday night was VERY noisy until past 10pm. We could feel it through the floor. As well, we had electrical problems - the mini fridge tripped out the power when switched on. When we asked, we were able to move to a quiet room on the 3rd floor. This room had a very soft bed - to the extent we rolled into the middle. There was no blind for the roof light, but that didn’t matter much because the window itself was so dirty. On the other hand, the staff were very pleasant, and the fitness room was clean and well-equipped. On the whole not a brilliant hotel since it claims to be 4 star.
- Richard (6/5): - Maintenance was poor. Complained every day (3 days) about TV not usable. Bathroom floor grout broken up sharp and cut foot - no response. LEDs flickering in bathroom - probably due to cheap fittings. HOWEVER - you get what you pay for - cheapest hotel in the area - Food was excellent - not so cheap!. Would I stay there again ? Yes.
- Lisa (4/5): I wouldn't stay again - Large room (allegedly suite) but it was in need of tlc. The room had single glazing which was broken as well as secondary glazing also broken and hanging off. Curtains wouldn't shut and we're hanging down. However, the reason this is relevant is that we were directly above an independent pub not owned by the hotel. The music was constant until 12:10 midnight when it stopped for approximately 5-10 minutes before starting again. To say this music was loud is an understatement, we were singing along and could hear it word for word, tbh we could physically feel the music vibrate. The shower wouldn't work and the bath took over 10 mins to get hot water. It was badly stained along with other marks on the ceiling. There was no restaurant in the hotel, instead a man hovering offering to get us food... The bar staff were pleasant but unable to pull a pint and charged us varying rates each round despite asking for the same... I would recommend finding somewhere else!

Reception areas very modern but thats about it. Breakfast was good. In urgent need of updating. Complained at reception and all they said was sorry!! The bin area in full view of hotel was appalling and dirty. Rats around the works.

- Keith (6/5): Seen better days - I recommend the Indian veggie food, which was great, but the hotel has seen better days. First impressions was a pile of fly-tipped furniture and junk in the car park, and then I discovered that there was no hot water in my room (and nothing could be done about it). Desk staff had no authority to offer anything more than a free drink.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor experience for the price. - I stayed in one of the more expensive executive rooms. Check in was friendly, but that was where the good ended. Halogens in the bedroom and bathroom were flickering and strobing. No electrical sockets near the side tables. Loud thumping music from the pub downstairs until 01.20am on a week night - seemingly for the cleanup staff as it closed at 11am. Stains on the carpets in several places which also looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. Avoid and find an alternative.
- Beverly (4/5): - Absolutely filthy, staff eating lunch sitting on stairs. No hot water. Stair carpet loose. When i told receptionist we had no hot water he just smiled, they are obviously used to all the complaints, i heard 4 other couples complaing too.
- Philip (4/5): A very disappointing stay - Difficult to report this. The First room we were in was Next To the Pub which had a constant bass going. The Bathroom sink didn’t drain and the Lights flickered . The Next room was better positioned but the Lights In the bathroom also flickered all the time. The Sink was cracked. The bed was old plus it dipped in the middle we ended up sleeping on top of each other, whilst I love my wife dearly it was Very uncomfortable and the air con barely worked. Both rooms were in need of some tlc and a coat of paint. The communal areas were nice and the staff friendly. The garbage area was a mess the outside area covered in rubbish and empty bottles and the car park lights were flickering, overall that’s a lot of bulbs that need replacing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs Work - This Hotel should not be open yet it's a work in progress. Rubbish everywhere, this site won't allow me to upload photos of it. There is no food available at the hotel it comes from the pub next door. I ordered a pint which was warm and cost £5.90. The rooms smell, are unclean and need refurbishment.

However, curtains far too small, barely covered half the window, only half the sockets worked, one of the side lights was out and the shower head pipe was too short. Whoever is signing off the rooms for use needs to go and have a proper look before letting them out. Staff too my complaints seriously but there wasnt much they could do.

- adrian (8/5): Nice hotel with dome isdyes - A lovely, hotel with good staff, no BBC channels in the room when the England match was on, flickering lights and no hot water in the morning were not ideal. Also limited vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast.
- Emir (2/5): - If you want to smell damp cat and be woken up to a moisture alarm in your room at 1am which cannot be turned off then this is the place for you. The elevator lights do not work and the carpet has some god awful stains which makes walking around barefoot in your room really disgusting. The window curtains have holes in them so the sun comes in first thing in the morning (if you’ve managed to sleep through the moisture alarm). They’ve clearly been flooded and are still renting out rooms before rectifying the problems.

- Neil (2/5): Don't use hotels.com or hilton ever - Didn't stay at hotel as was covid hotel, hilton no help, yourselves couldn't get through on hold for over half an hour cut off ×2 so gave up. Rang both 2 months ago as email saying there was a problem but neither said there was and confirmed my booking, and said was guaranteed. Still got my money, luckily paid with PayPal so should be able to use them at least. It has cost me nearly £200 to have a hotel of the same quality near to friends who were booked in the Premier inn and then i get this message asking how was my check-in and another saying how is my stay, thought you are taking the p***. I was going to the British motor show so alot of hotels near by were all booked up and i booked what i thought was a good deal in a nice hotel, haha. Manager at hotel basically said speak to you booking agent, not interested. This was also supposed to be a sort of early wedding anniversary treat for us, spoilt. Customer service or help for both yourselves and the hilton a joke. No emergency number, live chat etc. Book elsewhere and save yourself cost,stress hassle and money. Will have to do something really exceptional to make me use them again as trust is gone. Will book direct in future with company's i can rely on and trust not these 2 companies which seem to be a total shower of s***.

- Ayman (6/5): Review - There was a large amount of dust in the room, as soon as I entered my allergies were triggered as of the excessive amount of dust in places like the bed headboard and other areas which should be cleaned or dusted before hand. - Miss (4/5): Very disappointing, will not be staying again - No food or drinks available by the time I could get there after work both evenings, just the poor quality coffee in the room. On first night staff member was kind and got me some food from the kitchen but no such offer the second night. Pre-prepared cold breakfast given in brown bag in morning, with undercooked bacon roll available form a drawer in reception. Lift was out of order, had to take the stairs to the fourth floor- not ideal with heels and suitcase. Furniture and furnishings not in great condition. Have stayed in several hotels throughout the lockdown period and this was definitely the poorest. Was expecting more from a Hilton.

- Chris (10/5): Good location and spacious - The hotel is in a good location with easy access to the M4. Parking was easy and there is provision for EV charging which is good. We had a family room which was a good size and clean. Only negative was the footbridge to get to the hotel was very slippery. This would be treacherous for someone who wasn't sure-footed.

Manager tried telling me the Heated towel rail came on with hotel heating at 5.00 - rubbish, it was broken - It was only a problem as our items were wet after swimming and needed them for next day,

- Graham (6/5): Not as good as last stay - Very friendly staff, good parking however, TV had only a couple of channels that worked, room very cold due to air con blasting cold air on arrival. There was no WiFi working and had to use phone data. Toilet seat was broken but useable. The bar closed for drinks and food at 21.30 which was probably due to Covid but as a guest there was nothing else available as the pub next door closed at 22.00hrs so relaxing with a snack or drink before bed was not an option and with very few channels to choose from on TV that worked, it was a boring couple of nights away from home. Will consider other options for next business trip.

- Carla (4/5): - We booked a king room but was told on arrive there was a problem with it. The reception area is lovely but the stairs and hallway carpet stink and look like a 1970’s bus. We had boy racers in the car park and roads around the hotel late into the night, and then someone talking loudly on their phone at 4am again in the disabled car park. The room was functional and clean, although missing light bulbs in the bedside lamps. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

Food delecious in the restaurant but I thought on the expensive side. If the Poachers Inn belongs to the hotel it definitely needs attention. Great location but not welcoming to look at. Sports screens everywhere.

- Laura (6/5): - Nice enough hotel, but tired - dirty in the bedroom / bathroom and in the pub that’s attached to the hotel. Few things broken, such as the shower switch, shower plug and blown bulbs in a couple of lights. It’s inexpensive and served a purpose for us. We would stay again but may be more selective of room. We had a junior suite but it was located above the pub which was obviously noisy. We had the dog with us, so maybe that’s why we got a less than perfect room.
- Dawn (8/5): Great place to stay if visiting the nearby Spa. - For a one night stay with friends after a fab day at a Spa that’s just a 5min drive away the hotel met the needs for myself & my friends. The room was clean and comfortable just a little tight on space as a twin. In the evening we ate in the hotels restaurant which was of a reasonably good standard for a fairly basic menu. Likewise, the breakfast in the morning was of a reasonable standard too. All in all for the amount we paid it was great value for money. So yes I’d stay here again.

- justin (4/5): Condition of the room - The TV was not working in the family room. With 2 kids the tv was to keep them amused. After looking around the room we found that the TV socket was hanging off the wall.

- Vaughan (6/5): OK, but not up to Doubletree standards! - • On arrival found note that safe is not working. On further inquiry were told none of the rooms had working safes! I tried our safe and it worked. • On arrival, tissue holder in bathroom was empty. • Insufficient drawer space for 2 people. Had to live out of our suitcases. • Wardrobe space is almost totally consumed by a giant ironing board. • No notepad or pen in the room. • Only 1 suitcase stand – inadequate for 2 people, especially no bed covering to keep the duvet free from dirt off the suitcases. • Room key cards (x2) stopped working every day – even when kept away from phone and credit cards. • On asking to print a 1-page document was informed that the printer was broken.The manager offered to print the document for me. • Some of the front desk staff (esp. the manager) were helpful and courteous, others show zero sense of hospitality. • On checking in we found 1 set of bath and hand towels and requested a second set as there were 2 of us in the room. A 2nd set was delivered, but we had to repeat request every night. • Bedroom and bathroom clean but public areas show lax housekeeping (eg, cobwebs and other debris on plants, lamps, etc.) • Phone next to the bed not working. • Breakfast good, but some buffet dishes (e.g., fried eggs) were cold. • By way of comparison, we have stayed at this property several times when it was a Best Western, and had none of these issues.
- Katie (6/5): ‘‘Twas alright - It was completely fine. Took a bit longer on check in that necessary but fine. Upgraded to a suite for a bit of extra space. Plug sockets in the desk didn’t work and took 3 of us 10 minutes to find the remote for the tv. They’d left some brownies for my son’s birthday which was a nice touch. Went to breakfast at 09:30 (finishes at 10:00), nothing extra was added, lacklustre service as the staff clearly didn’t want to serve anyone else. Poor folk who came after us had slim pickings and thankfully weren’t vegetarian as items were loaded in with sausages/bacon to start to clear things away. Check out was straightforward
