Anne Marie (8/5): A peaceful place in this hectic world - The location was beautiful in rolling Yorkshire countryside. The staff were very accommodating with my luggage on arrival as there is no lift. On leaving a member of staff came to take my luggage directly to my car within 5 minutes of calling reception with the request. The evening meal was too large for me but delicious. The breakfast menu covered every appetite and the young man in charge of the breakfast service was polite, smartly dressed and I enjoyed my conversation with him. Son of the owners, he will go far. We stayed in one of their splendid suites .. they are spacious, very comfortable with all the facilities needed for an enjoyable stay. The hotel staff are welcoming, friendly and often go out of their way to be helpful. In particular Logan, Katrina, Joe and Lisa are very welcoming and a credit to the hotel. The food, breakfast and evening, is exceptionally good .. offering a wide variety of choice well cooked and presented. Altogether an enjoyable stay and thoroughly recommended.

RIchard035 (6/5): Reasonably good country hotel - Rogerthorpe is a country house type of hotel in the countryside with excellent views over fields and local villages. It is a bit of a maze navigating around the winding corridors. The common parts are quite attractive, with their oak-panelled walls. Service at reception was very friendly. The room felt a little dated although it was clean, with plenty of storage. The bed was quite low which was somewhat odd. The bathroom was fine. There is a good continental buffet at the breakfast, including cut up fruit. There is also a choice of hot food to order. Service at breakfast was a bit slow. There is plenty of parking on site.

The Bedroom and Bathroom is specious (Classic Double Room) with a window view of the garden. Comfortable bed. There are lots of plugs in the room but none near the bed.

Loved my morning run down the country path which led to a river. First night away from my children in over two years! Was very disappointed at 8pm when a very loud dj started a birthday party. For such a tranquil setting was very upset to not have been notified and for this to have interrupted my stay alot. It finished at 11.45pm when I could finally sleep in peace. I would stay again but would definitely check to make sure there are no events on as I wasn't told and I would have chose somewhere else had I known.

Louise (7/5): An inconvenience having to move rooms. - Lovely building, ideal for our location. Food at the attached restaurant was lovely in the evening and at breakfast. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately the first room we were allocated the toilet was a bit of a squeeze for myself but impossible for my husband. And was embarrassing to ask as my husband has a stomach condition which really we shouldn’t have to think of that when booking somewhere, first time ever had this problem. We requested if there was another room available where the bathroom configuration was different, (receptionist wasn’t sure of other rooms seems to think all the same) but there wasn’t one to our requirements, only a suite. Which the nice lady at the reception offered us, at no extra cost. The only unfortunate thing with this, was we were next door to the Party Room, luckily they didn’t go on too late.

Sarah (8/5): Perfect location for a large family get together - The property is lovely! The suites where some of our party stayed are exceptional. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to look after us during our family reunion. We were advised of a noisy party beforehand and were able to request a room away from the noise. The breakfast was plentiful and the grounds were exciting to explore. Room service was excellent and our bed was changed on request. The shower in our room was quite weak. We were upstairs in the jacobean part of the hotel so I imagine it must be tricky to get good water pressure.
