Guest Reviews
- Cecilia (10/5): - Great place and views.
- Wanli (10/5): - This is a beautiful property close to the north entrance of Cotopaxi national park. The grounds are very nice and the beds comfortable. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food at the restaurant was excellent and rated the best in the area.
- Natalie (10/5): Amazing hotel, wonderful staff - Superb hotel! They had the kindest, most welcoming hotel staff I have ever encountered. We were warmly greeted with a welcome tea, and the lady at the front told us about the property and showed us around. There were two hot tubs, a cold plunge, and a steam room. The massage was great. Breakfast was included and had fresh fruit, eggs, little breads, juice, coffee. We also did a trail around the property and saw horses and a waterfall. The room was clean and cozy. Before our stay, the hotel helped us get a driver who picked us up from Quito and spent half a day showing us Cotopaxi and dropped us off at this hotel. Wish we had stayed another night here.
- Janina (10/5): - Very unique , lovely maintained hacienda. The Service was wonderful, a lot of Little Details and extra amenities.
- ignacia (10/5): - We stay at the Hacienda el Porvenir for one night. And let me say I wish I could have stayed longer. The staff makes you feel right at home. They welcome you with some empanadas and the traditional canelaso. The downside to staying at the Hacienda was we couldn’t enjoy what the place had to offer
I totally recommend this place.
- Kathy (10/5): - Amazing staff!!!! Beautiful property, great food, wonderful cozy rooms. Love this place!
- Jeannette (10/5): - Beautiful hacienda right next to the Cotopaxi national park. Wonderful horseback ride trough an incredible landscape with view of the Cotopaxi. Excellent dinner and breakfast! Expensive, but worth the price!
- Leonardo (10/5): - Todo muy bien
- Matt (10/5): - This is a beautiful property in the countryside. The staff are excellent, the food was excellent and the location is beautiful. The lodge is so cozy and we spent hours sitting by the fire. This is truly an amazing place.
Getting there: the road from Machachi begins with several kilometers of very rough cobblestone, then there is a paved section for a few kilometers, and then a dirt road for the remainder to your destination. If you decide to go on the extra 4km to Cotopaxi National Park, the road is mostly dirt. Inside the park it’s a washboard dirt road.
Bottom line: it’s worth the trip, but get an SUV or truck with all wheel drive and higher clearance and drive slow. We had a Renault Stepway (small AWD crossover) and we were fine.
- Mark (10/5): - This is one of the most beautiful and welcoming places we have ever been! Pulling up to the property in a car we were already stunned by the beauty, and it just got better from there. We had a gorgeous room with a fireplace (they made a fire for us!) and a view of the volcano. We went on a stunning horse ride and some short hikes around. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome and couldn't stop gushing about how magical it all was. The food is excellent, as well. Not to be missed!
- CARLOS (8/5): - Lugar y paisajes preciosos, rica comida, mal servicio de restaurante
- Barbara (10/5): - Gorgeous property, most perfect staff, lovely clean rooms, amazing food.
- Anthony (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at Porvenir. The rooms, food and service was excellent and it is a great place to explore the National Park.
- Brian (10/5): - Loved the place. The food is excellent. Would return
- Jenny (10/5): Fabulous stop - This was a highlight of the trip! What a lovely, cozy lodge. The host went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and cozy from the welcome tea to hot water bottles in the bed! Great food and great activities!
- Joseph (4/5): No hospitality at the hacienda - We were really disappointed in our stay here. I had tried to reserve a horse ride before our stay and they didn't want to book it because of our 2 year old. He's been on horse rides before so we weren't worried. We checked in and asked to go on the ride 2 hours later. We were told it was ok for our kids but they needed to see if there were enough horses. We checked in again 10 minutes before the scheduled ride because we hadn't heard back and we were told they needed to check the horses. They returned 5 minutes later and told us there was no space. We decided to go on a hike and when we came back we asked about the ropes activity. We were told it was too late in the day. When we checked in, no one told us about any of the activities or the time frames offered. We found a game room by wandering on our own. I booked a massage and only after my massage learned that there was a pool and jacuzzi that we could have used. I feel that all of that should have been explained when we arrived and definitely offered as options when we were told we couldn't go on the horse ride. It turned out to be a very expensive night for our kids to play on the playground. It's too bad because the hacienda is super cute. There was just no hospitality. Regarding the horses, there's over 20 horses on the property, but the ride we wanted to go on only had three people riding horses.
- Muriel M (10/5): Perfect way to discover the Cotopaxi national park - Absolutely wonderful hospitality in a mountain cabin type of setting. Everybody is so nice and helpful, the scenery is breathtaking, food very good and the highlight of our stay was the horse riding tour.
- Annie (8/5): Lots of Atmosphere! - We spent 2 nights here and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel has lots of character and you feel like you are stepping back in time.
Roberto, the host, was very nice and accommodating. He gave us good information about the surrounding area.
The common area was very cozy with fire place and comfortable seating plus free coffee and tea.
The hotel has 2 hiking trails, which you can do on your own and are very nice.
We visited Cotopaxi park which is very close and has amazing scenery. Food at the hotel was very good. Our room was comfortable and warm.
The only drawback was the hot water took a really long time to make its way to the shower.
Also, they charge $13 per person to use the hot tub/jacuzzi, which we thought should have been included in our cost since we were paying over one hundred dollars per night for our room.
- maria (8/5): - So close to the Cotopaxi, it was a great experience, the staff is very nice and helpful
- Daniel (8/5): Rustic Charm with great views - Nice hacienda with a rustic and warm vibe. Walls a little thin. The food is very good and locally sourced - you will have some unique flavor twists. Great place if you want to do hiking or horseback riding which can all be organized through the hotel. Views are spectacular. You should have a 4x4 as the road can get dicey, especially if it rains.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful location. Staff was very helpful. Food could have been slightly better. Overall, a great experience.
