• Marli (8/5): - The staff were amazing. We had an issue with the air conditioning. The room was very hot. They did fix it later. The door wouldn't lock. It was a little scary. The breakfast was good. I would stay here again for the price. It's walkable everywhere in the little town of La Fortuna.

The hotel had more birds than Monteverde itself, we saw a sloth on a tree in the hotel premises. Cozy, very eco friendly, homemade breakfast. There is a restaurant right outside the hotel called Familia Restaurante, the food was very tasty! Highly recommend Secreto!

• Leilanny (6/5): - My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and 4 days. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed when we saw not only our room but the hotel itself. Pictures make it look better than it is - though it's beautiful and is surrounded by trees, flowers, and plants, we were left very disappointed. We thought we booked the room with a balcony, only to find out we were placed in a single-level room. The room either has clear sliding doors as the main entrance, so, you can either get sunlight and be able to see outside but have zero privacy, or, you can have privacy but not get sunlight or be able to see outside. Those sliding doors need to get some sort of mirror film where you can see outside but people outside can't see in your room. The TV had very little channels available, and half of the channels didn't have sound - just the image. The channels that did have sound kept going in and out and we kept on getting a "no signal" error every couple seconds. There is only one thin mirror in the room, not very useful for a room where there's more than one people staying. Another thing, we struggled to get hot water. The last night was fine, but every day/night before that we'd only get maybe 3 minutes of hot water then it'd get cold. Another important detail: the walls are VERY thin. We stayed in room 11 and all we could hear for the 4 days we were there was the man in room 10 coughing and coughing. The pool is VERY small. The sitting area is very limited. Free breakfast was great.

• Eric (2/5): Review of Hotel Secreto La Fortuna - Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. We arrived after 9 PM, well past check-in time, and were given a room with a broken air conditioner. The room was unbearably hot, the refrigerator was unplugged, and it was obvious the space hadn’t been properly prepared. When we reported the AC issue, staff only tried switching the remote, even though the unit itself was broken. After repeated requests, we were finally offered another room, but it was a downgrade, dirty, and smelled strongly of mold. At that point, the conditions were unacceptable, and we had no choice but to leave and book another hotel at our own expense. The staff showed little effort or compassion in resolving the situation, which made the experience even worse. This property did not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would not recommend it to anyone expecting clean, comfortable accommodations or reliable service.

• Malhar (8/5): - ✅ The staff was amazing. ✅ As a vegetarian, I found the breakfast had ample options. The staff even made hot-cocoa for the kids. ✅ The hotel in general is great too -- offering view of the Arenal Volcano. ✅ The hotel is situated in the heart of "LaFortuna downtown" so most places were in ~5-10 mins walkable distance -- though we drove due to heavy rain. ✅ The TV is smart-TV so Netflix/YouTube etc were built in. ❌ There are geckos (which I thought were lizards) everywhere. I expected them to see outside, but they were lurking inside the room. So, we were always afraid of opening bags. The staff did eliminate one of them on the first day. But we come back after dinner, and two other tiny ones show up. We always kept patio door closed, but either the geckos were hiding behind furniture from the beginning or they sneaked in from under the door. ❌ The AC never cooled -- even after setting to 17c (~62f) the room felt damp, humid and hot. ❌ The bathroom does not have exhaust fan. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, and would definitely stay again on my next trip.

• Anthony (10/5): Location, location, location! - We had a quick stop in La Fotuna, but Secreto hotel was the perfect stay. So close to eveything. The rooms were nice and clean and Fabrizio who greeted us was spectacular! The grounds are very beautiful and the breakfast was great.

They were wonderful and accommodated our early morning departure with an early breakfast. It was a very nice place to stay.

• Patricia (8/5): Una joya con vista al volcán Arenal - Nuestra estadía en el Hotel El Secreto en La Fortuna fue maravillosa. El lugar es hermoso, con una vista espectacular al volcán Arenal, lo que hizo que cada mañana fuera especial. El servicio fue excelente. El recepcionista siempre nos saludaba con una sonrisa y fue muy amable al recomendarnos lugares para comer. Además, reservando con ellos obtuvimos un descuento en las aguas termales de Baldi, y también ofrecen otras excursiones con precios especiales si las compras directamente con ellos. La habitación era amplia, cómoda y el baño estaba en excelentes condiciones. Lo único que podría mencionar es que al estar en el primer piso, se escuchaban algunas conversaciones de personas que pasaban cerca, pero no fue algo que afectara mucho la experiencia. Definitivamente me volvería a quedar aquí. La ubicación es ideal, ya que se puede caminar fácilmente a varios restaurantes, bares y cafés. Lo recomiendo sin dudar.

The privacy and the safety measures they take are far above and beyond anything we experienced else where. The staff were absolutely professional, kind, courteous, and helpful at all times. If you were going to go to La Fortuna, this is where you stay no other place.

• Veronique (10/5): - Hotel Secreto in is a gem, it is located close to the main shopping and dining area in La Fortuna but is very quiet at the same time. The rooms are big, very modern, clean and the beds are super comfy. The A/C works great and the shower has good pressure. The staff is super friendly, helpful and striving to make your stay special. On a clear day, you can see Arenal Volcano from your balcony/patio. The pool is nice and located in the center of the small property surrounded by amazing flora. The free breakfast was really good (they offer 3 options) and the coffee amazing. I highly suggest a stay here and would certainly book it again myself when back in La Fortuna.
• Emilio (10/5): - This was a great property and great stay! It was walkable to multiple restaurants and the park. Shuttles were able to come pick us up and drop us off for excursions. All the staff were smiling super hospitable and especially a special shoutout to Fabricio who checked us in and was amazingly helpful in getting us situated in the room and great restaurant recommendations. We went in May and the volcano top was a little cloudy but there was a day it cleared up enough we could see the volcano top from this hotel. It had a beautiful tree path walking to and from our room with flowers and birds. Room was comfortable with ACs and clean room and showers. Beds are firm mattresses and firmer pillows. Breakfast had 3 meal options to pick from each morning and each was great. Coffee and a juice that changed daily. Great stay here.

The gardens on the property were maintained so beautifully. The breakfast was satisfying and I enjoyed the gallon pinto. Everything was well maintained and secure. The pool area was beautiful. Outside each room were lounge chairs. I was able to book tours through the front desk. Many delicious dining options available within walking distance, as well as the Central Park.

• malcolm (8/5): - The idea of this hotel is lovely- a tropical oasis with well planted gardens on the edge of the very busy town of La Fortuna, 5 mins walk to the main streets. The rooms are fine and spacious. The main problem is that the pool is tiny (more of a bath and crowded with children most of the day). If you don’t need a pool and want a base for exploring La Fortuna and the adventure activities in the region then the hotel is good. If relaxing by a pool is more your thing then this isn’t the place.

Overall, a great experience and I would definitely stay here again!

The room was large and clean. Enjoyed the patio overlooking the garden and pool area. Loved the clothing rack on our patio to hang wet suits and towels.

But the gardens were nice, breakfast good, beds comfortable, AC good and staff friendly.

The Staff was very helpful with spotting the Sloths plus Coffee tour and restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was fantastic! We only had two nights here but wished we had a longer stay. Incredible value. My favorite part was sitting outside the room with my binoculars looking at a large Sloth that stayed in the same spot our whole stay! Also nice to be able to walk everywhere. Highlight of our Costa Rica adventure.

• Christine (10/5): Would definitely stay again! - We had a lovely stay at Hotel Secreto in La Fortuna. The staff were amazing! Very friendly and attentive to our needs. It's tucked away a bit off the main street, which made for a mostly quiet stay. The only issue was the roof work being down on a Sunday, which we planned as our rest day from excursions. It had to be done, but we wished it was done on another day. The staff was very apologetic about it, which we appreciated. The hotel is conveniently located to many great activities, suited to whatever level your sense of adventure! Also within walking distance to many great restaurants. We would stay there again!

• Denise (10/5): Absolutely wonderful resort! - The two gentlemen working the front desk truly were more like concierge’s. They were in constant contact with me as this was my first trip to Costa Rica with my son. They arranged all of the activities the driver to pick us up from the airport. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful gorgeous layout. My only disappointment was with Hotels.com as we had to leave a day early which we knew long before our trip due to work schedule and they wouldn’t let me change the reservation. I had to cancel it entirely, but then I wrist not getting this hotel again this hotel great location. We walked everywhere to dinner. Would definitely stay there again.
• Patricia (10/5): - This hotel looked amazing in the photos, which hardly did the spot justice. There was a garden in the center of the property with a pool and patio area and many exotic plants. Breakfast (three options) was served in a open air patio area. The staff put fruit out to encourage the birds to visit, providing a colorful, entertaining show. Our room was brand new, with a semi-private balcony. It was very quiet and felt safe and secure. There were both a two toed and a three toed sloth in residence in trees next to the hotel, which was exciting since we had not seen any on our trip to Costa Rica to that point. So happy we stayed there!
• Geza (10/5): - The staff were very accommodating and assisted us whenever we asked. The breakfast was well done and the rooms were clean and quiet. The one area that was a bit lacking was the WIFI connection went out regularly.

• Vicki (10/5): - Great hotel, great location, great price! The breakfast was delicious and we loved the garden and pool with all the beautiful birds.
• Kapil (10/5): - Good property. Walkable to main La Fortuna area and lot of options for dining. Staff is flexible with pre-fix breakfast options. They also did mix and match for us.
