Guest Reviews
- Voigt (8/5): -
- DJ2TONE (1/5): - Nothing Couldn't check into the hotel after 3pm
- Devin (3/5): -
- Mary (4/5): - Upon arrival 7 pm the office was locked with a note to call a listed phone number. Received an answer only that the mailbox was full. Ran into another tenant who tried a number she was given earlier. Same result. She found another office to knock on but no answer. Shortly I received a text with my room number and access code, I assume based only on my phone number I called with earlier. This worked but if not for the help of the other person I likely would’ve left and had to try another hotel and been charged for this one as it was non refundable. The whole experience was irritating and unnerving.
The room was clean but musty. Bed comfortable but not much sleep due to very loud traffic noise. No coffee or disposable cups available. Broken drawer handles. Had to take our own garbage out. For $100/night I expect a bit better. A bare bones place to sleep but service non existent (Office not open til 9 am, well after we left). Will not stay here again.
- Eric (2/5): - The staff is only there monday through friday from 8 til 5 we booked at 6:30
- Danielle (2/5): - Oh, I can go on and on about how awful the room was. I booked a double queen room but was given a single king bed, as that was all that was left. Our thermostat was broken, stuck on 66 degrees. (I had to turn it off at the breaker to keep it warm enough in there). Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was filthy. The floors were covered in dirt and grime, the carpet was sticky and soaked next to the bed, we couldnt even take our shoes off. There were cobwebs in every corner, every lamp shade, the blinds, every vent. Every surface besides the bathroom sink seemed to have some sort of grimey film on it. It was absolutely disgusting.
- Voigt (10/5): -
- Ellis (1/5): It wasn’t good at all. - The front desk lady was nice. Dirty, not what was advertised, AC was out of one of my rooms I had gotten.
- Michelle (8/5): Good - It was cheap and nice and it was located like 5 minutes away from my family goes every year, Lake Michigan Well i booked and reserved a room that was supposed to have 2 queen size beds in it but when i got there to check in they didnt have that room. I thought thats why you book it and reserve it so no one else gets that room?
- Snedeker (1/5): - They were not open for me to check in. Very disappointing.
- Gayathri (2/5): - Probably
- Meuser (1/5): Bad - Locked out of room. Horrible management. Had to stay at a different hotel the last night because nobody would answer the phone and no one at front desk.
- Lisa Marie (2/5): - Booked through Expedia in November 2024. Upon arrival there was no one available in management or at the front desk. I had to wait over an hour for someone to show up. Upon being given a key to my room, I took a walk around to check out the common areas and my room. The normally key card operated door to the inner facilities was being held open with a rug, there were loud and unsupervised children running amok, the room was dirty and the water heater had overflowed from its overflow bucket into the hallway
I immediately decided to make other arrangements for my stay and spoke directly with the manager at the front desk. I was charged for the entire stay through Expedia and even though I messaged multiple times My money was never refunded for a 5-day stay.
- ANDREA (10/5): - Staff was nice and the property wasn't bad also it looked like a regular apartment. I would recommend it for renting.
- Tonya (2/5): - The whole experience was bad!!! We ended up leaving before the end of our stay. We asked if we could be refunded those last two nights because of excessive fighting at this hotel the night before and was refused. We should not be penalized for acts that occurred between other guess. The rooms are dirty and ran down. Couch was so dirty i refused to allow my grand babies to sit on it! The walls were filthy as well. Very little supplies in room and there was never anyone at the office. we arrived at 3pm and the office was empty and no once answered calls til an hour after waiting for a response!!! was given room code via text message but didn’t work, had to wait for new code only to enter a very run down room! We reluctantly stayed but after 2 nights of neighborhood arguing loudly all night we had enough!!! With all this said we should have been greater with customer service support but instead was told no refund! We will never stay at this hotel again and will be telling all friends and family members to leave! This is not a hotel ! I believe people live here as well which makes for a different experience when traveling! Beware!!!
- LaVette (2/5): Slumtell - It was a Nightmare! Arrived to dirty room! Smelled like old cat pee and the front desk person was unexpectedly rude! I will never stay hsrz$
- Ralisa (1/5): Bad -
- Stephanie (7/5): Ac didn’t cool - Location The ac didn’t work well
- David (4/5): We made the situation work, kinda had to. - Our room that was originally booked was out of order. So our options were to cram into a king room, go try to get another hotel while already on a a budget, while in town taking care of family affairs. Little kids up at all hours of the night play and crying outside the door.
- Susan (2/5): - We had encountered several issues with our stay. Upon arriving just after 6pm we had to wait to check in as their office was closed. We made several calls to their emergency number. We were given the wrong code to our unit and had to wait again to find the owner. Our unit was infested with fruit flies, no soap and barely any kitchen supplies. I had to go back and ask the owner for some apple cider vinegar to try and create a trap. Additionally our unit wreaked of marijuiana and the air conditioner did not work. Upon arriving we had to sign an agreement that there are no refunds. That should have been a red flag.
- Kamran (8/5): Very good -
- Hoss80 (7/5): Good -
- Kiana (1/5): I have pictures and need my whole visit credited - Nothing The complete stay was horrible
And shouldn’t be on booking.com
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not the best place to stay. - I’ve stayed at Affordable Suites many times in the past and it’s a no frills old hotel but I like the location and kitchen availability and size. However this trip, the room we got was much worse than usual. It was dusty, the lock on the door was broken, there was something hanging from the microwave that shouldn’t have been there. And the couch which you can normally sit on was extremely stained. The extra sheets were balled up on top of the shelf as if they were used. My expectations weren’t a 4 star room, but it is in a serious need of some upgrades.
- Kelly (10/5): - Location
- Michael (6/5): Stay was good should have got the discounted rate to begin with but it only took two weeks - Nice rooms set up Entry codes to enter after 11pm
- Daniel (8/5): great for the money, I'll be back! - Convenient to work and food. Nice room for the money. full size fridge and microwave. The road noise was the worst I have ever had in a hotel.
- Poe (1/5): Bad - Nothing about that property is nice! We did not stay...we left and went and stay at another hotel! We found a big hair ball in the bathtub...gross!
- Lynette (10/5): Exceptional - The home settings with the stove and fridge. The let out sofa and the king size bed Everything was great
- Shannan (10/5): Awesome 114! - I loved Shannon at the front desk got us in early and when there was an issue with the tub draining they came within 10 minutes! I will definitely stay again. So happy with the room size and location. Was a,little upset that I didn't being my fur baby because on line it says no pets..but there was plenty of them.
- Knight (4/5): Disappointed - The location and price There was a family in the next room with big dogs that barked nonstop and kids that ran and screamed the whole time. We attempted to contact the office and the number on the door several times with no answer.
- Ramona (7/5): It was okay for a one night stand. - Good location, close to different restaurants/ fast food places. Comfortable mattresses and liked the kitchen area. Even though the front area was closed😮by the time we arrived , the front desk representative texted us with check in instructions. The ceiling fan need a good dusting as well the air conditioning vents. The smell of the dust when the AC was running was awful. Knowing that the room was booked for 4 people we only got 1 small shampoo bottle, 1 small conditioner bottle.
- Raquel (8/5): Worth the money - Vary spacious, price was good, off the highway , easy to find Non smoking rooms smelled like smoke, can hear a lot of traffic
- Ginsberg (1/5): Dirty room - Leaving I didn't feel safe. The room was very dirty.
- Jeremy (7/5): One of the more reasonably priced stays near Indiana Dunes - The room was spacious and clean. Had a microwave and full-size reference. Conveniently located near Indiana Dunes. The people in the room directly above us were having a party with what sounded like 10 or more people that went on wellll into the night.
- Sally (9/5): Superb -
- Monica (7/5): REasonable accommodations for the price and kitchen was nice, otherwise a fair experience. - Loved having a full kitchen to use while travelling. The room also had an extra seating area in the kitchen area. A full size coffee pot was provided. Bedding was clean. Things were in working order. Cleanliness could have been improved overall - floors had dirt on them, blinds were very dusty. The room faced a very busy road and street light so it was not a quiet space. The room did not feel very secure - the lock had a numbered code on it and it was not clear if the access code was changed between guests.
- Michael (2/5): Terrible experience. Will never stay there again - Location Bed was terrible. Room had a distinct odor.
- Jalen (4/5): - Stayed here twice with over a month in-between each time.
1st time I was on the top floor and it was super quiet,
Only complaint was the ceiling fan couldn’t be on without the light being on, something was broken with it as my other room worked fine.
2nd time was legit terrible, I think I slept 3.5 hours and woke up a ton from the person next door to me coughing and smoking weed till 3:30am and the person above me stomping till 1am. I guess get the top floor because people have no common decency nowadays. I probably just won’t stay here anymore.
- Stromtho (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean very nice facility The only thing we didn't like was the room had a bit of an odor to it
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (10/5): It was a great quick stay - Very clean
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable - Close to our initial destination The room floor was dirty. The covers and sheets were also dirty
- Dennis (8/5): - The room was clean and comfortable.
They do need new pillows.
- Emma (8/5): Very good value, comfortable stay - Big suites with two large queen beds, desk, wardrobe. Bathroom was clean with sufficient towels. Kitchen/living area was also sizeable and very comfortable. Cleaning staff were exceptional. The kitchen didn't have enough bowls and cutlery for the number of people who were on the booking but we didn't stay long enough to need to ask for more. We were warned in advance that the fridge door was opening the wrong way so we knew about that. The only issue was that we arrived back late one night and door code didn't work and it took a few minutes to get a response from the front desk phone number, but that was resolved.
- Adrienne (9/5): We’d love to return for another overnight on our road-trip to Michigan. - The atmosphere was nice and well appointed. The walls were a little bit thin.
- Garcia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (6/5): Cleanliness not up to par - We chose this hotel as it included a kitchen and was reasonably priced. At first, the suite seemed pretty nice for the price, but after our one-year-old crawled around for a couple of minutes, we realized that the floors were filthy--as in they hadn't been mopped in weeks or months. My son's knees and feet had black marks where they had made contact with the floor. The counters had sticky stuff on them, and the bathtub drain immediately backed up after we turned on the shower. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with the cleanliness. Glad we only stayed one night.
- Anusha (6/5): Pleasant -
- Diane (10/5): Best hotel on my entire trip!! - The room was well worth the money, well appointed, clean and very comfortable. I hated to leave!!!!!
- Becky (1/5): Dirty, smelly, unsafe. - Size of room was good, but nobody wanted to be in their rooms due to the smells and dirtiness. Every family in our group had a room that smelled musty, damp and like someone sat there chain smoking cigarettes for about 10 years.. No staff available ever and some rooms had only two bath towels. Office is never open, we talked to several guest that showed up with a reservation but the office manager was not answering calls to get them checked in. They were stranded without a room. Dirty people walking around all hours of night and day, we didn't feel safe. This is a crack trap. Do not stay here it's all of the nasty things you don't want.. dirty linens, stained furniture, awful smelling rooms, broken shower heads. Shady! Awful.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): - Cannot rate the staff as we had zero interaction with any staff.
- Jamie (1/5): Keep on driving. - The units are spacious & close to the beaches (thats the only bonus). We did not feel safe. Strange residents wandering around. Pounding coming from the unit above us all night long. Noone is working in the office. They are impossible to get ahold of. There were multiple families needing to check in & unable to do so. They left a sign on the office door with a number to call for help, but they don't answer! After relentless calling & texting from us, they text us a room number & code to get in our room. Rooms are FILTHY. They are picked up, yes..but absolutely FILTHY. They haven't been mopped in months. Rooms smell of cigarette smoke & funk. There is noone there attending to guests, so if you need something or are staying multiple nights, you will not get fresh towels, replenished toilet paper etc. This could be a great place, but needs major cleaning & refurbishment as well as someone attending to the office so you can actually check in.
- Bob (8/5): We plan to go back again in future. - Great value all things considered. Room was pretty nice and we enjoyed staying there.
. Shower needed some help.
- Sheila (5/5): Basic nights sleep for just traveling through - Manager contacted me to give door code since desk personnel leave at 5:00
Housekeeper very friendly and helpful
Handicap parking directly in front of main door It was OK full kitchen with basic utensils.
- Lee (10/5): Fine for one night - Nice rooms No pool
- Vicki (10/5): Family birthday weekend - Staff was very friendly and helpful Linens could have been newer but they still were clean just old and stained some
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darnell (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jessica (9/5): It was good for the price and like the outdoor area - Large rooms, convenient location
- Timothy (1/5): Bad - We arrived at 10:30pm after arriving in Chicago from London. There were no staff at the hotel but there was a contact number. I rang the number but it went straight to voice mail. Unfortunately the voice mail box was full and I couldn't leave a message. I rang several times but each time it went immediately to voice mail with the same message. I had know idea what to do next, so I found a nearby hotel with a vacancy and booked in there instead. I managed to contact the hotel two days later and they refunded my payment.
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Slayton (8/5): Very good -
- Todd (7/5): good for a short stay - the room was clean except the couch was very dirty and there were food stains on the kitchen ceiling. due to being a holiday weekend we never saw staff. the office was closed the whole time we were in the building The stained couch.
never staff presence.
lots of truck traffic noises.
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (7/5): Good place for being on a budget, it did the job. - Location was perfect for visiting Indiana Dunes NP. Layout was very spacious, like a townhouse. The bedding desperately needs updating.
- Abhishek (1/5): Bad - No breakfast available Nothing to like… avoid this place. Super dirty and no helping staff after 5 pm.
- Tina (9/5): Clean and comfortable room with outstanding communications from the check in staff!!! - Outside access to the room door. The access stair wells were a bit rough. Could use some paint repairs etc.
The toilet seat needed replaced in the room as it was chipped and looked bad.
- Colleen (7/5): Accommodations were good. - Location
- Shadrix (4/5): Disappointing - We didn't get the room we reserved. The room apparently hadn't been swept in a while. It was very dusty and sand all over furniture. There was no one in the lobby to get extra towels from that evening. It just wasn't what I expected at all !
- Iryna (10/5): Great, will come back again - Clean room, all staff you need( kitchen, plates, grill, coffee maker....) very comfortable 2 rooms apartment, backyard..personal 👍🏻
- Regina (7/5): Location was good and it had a kitchen, but the floor had not been mopped in a long time. our feet were black after walk - location, kitchen my feet was black after walking on floor.
- Donna M (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised with the room. Although I read that a kitchen was available, I didn't expect it to be so nice and the entire room was very clean. We especially liked that all the rooms faced the courtyard and needed an access code to enter. The courtyard also offered 2 BBQ grills, and table & chairs to use for outside dining. Very nice facility. Would definitely stay there again.
- Leo (6/5): - Room was dirty, dishes in the sink, room was never cleaned, no coffee in the morning. room smells like dog urine.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Eddie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Deron (7/5): Good - nice room layout. Location too close to road with a high level of tractor trailer noise.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tabitha (10/5): We still love this hotel - We’ve been here before, and we love this hotel, only thing bad is we wish we could stay longer. the Roos are so spacious, and the who property is very well kept
- Christine (5/5): Passable -
- WILLIAM (6/5): OK for quick overnight - We received a phone call at 5 PM the day of our arrival telling us that the lobby was closing early and that they were going to text us the door and wifi codes. The bed was not really comfortable. The road next to the hotel was very busy and we could hear the traffic noise inside the room.
- David (10/5): - The property is a little aged and there's damage to some furniture but that's minimal our room was extremely clean and still up to date.
- Keith (9/5): good clean comfortable stay - clean, great staff, value location was a bit off the main path. breakfast could have more/better choices than frozen sausage links.
- Sara (6/5): Pleasant - Good price easy to get to. Tv system didn't work.
- Tabitha (10/5): LOVE the rooms - loved the property, room was the best my husband & I have been to. loved the check in process Had to ask 5 separate times about a noon checkout, didn’t receive a response until we were texted by them to send our room info. it was granted, but on the day of checkout, we are lucky that we had the chain on the door, the cleaning lady tried to enter the room around 1030am. startled us very badly. just flat out opened the door, didn’t give us a chance to even get to the door before she opened it herself. we told her that we were given permission when we checked in to leave at noon, she said she needed us to leave before noon, so she could clean the room. not sure why she was not aware that we had permission. she said that she already changed the passcode at 1030, so we need to take everything out at once. because we would not be able to get back in. that literally was the only bad thing, right at the very end.
- Steve (4/5): After finding blood stains on the comforter I went to Walmart and bought my own sheets and comforter - I like the floor plan with the kitchen and the appliances. Needs to be cleaned better found fecal matter on the toilet seat blood stains on the comforter mattress very cheap needs to be upgraded badly !!! otherwise passable Locations
- Eric A (10/5): - Awesome room, very comfortable for the money. Gorgeous right outside the room. Nice kitchen
- Ruth (8/5): Check in. - Would have been nice to be able to more easily connect with someone on site for a late check in. Had trouble with getting in room. Found out where the managers room was from another person at about 9:40pm. Otherwise not sure i would have known what to do.
- Laura (10/5): - The kitchen is stocked with dishes and pans for a longer stay. The floor was very clean as well as the rest of the room. We would definitely stay again.
- Lisa (8/5): Great value! - We've stayed at this place many times in the past, but haven't been there since 2019. It was very clean and the staff was helpful, but it seems a little rundown since the last time we were there. The beds could use newer mattresses and the furniture is beat-up. There are also seem to be people residing there, which is more a complaint about the state of housing in the U.S. than a complaint against the hotel. The prices are up a little, but not as much as most other hotels. Overall, I like this place and would stay again.
- Patricia (10/5): - Rooms very roomy - bed comfortable - great attention to germ control. Looks pretty new. Restaurants close by. Only suggestions are - lighting is pretty dim and only have a light on one side of the bed for reading. Also, spotlight on outside sign kept the room from darkening.
- Sarah (6/5): my family had a great time! - the location was perfect for what we needed located
next to a bunch of places to eat or get coffee. the floors were really dirty. they only clean I think it said
on certain days so the floors were definitely in need of
cleaning our feet were black. was not impressed with
that.
- Kellena (10/5): Good vibes. would definitely comes back. Great value - It was pleasant and safe. nothing
- lynn (4/5): - Good location
- Julie (10/5): Great place to stay - I checked the ratings and reviews and booked my room because it was reasonably priced. I was VERY pleased with the room. It is like one of those kitchenette places but very spacious and clean. The staff was excellent!
- Jackie (8/5): - Nice place and welcoming staff.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Needs Attention to details. - We booked a unit with 2 queen beds but received only 1 king bed forcing our son to sleep on a small couch. We were told no other units were available. Noone at the desk answers the phone. Shower head was stripped and fell off immediately.
