- porro (7/5): - Local location for my visit to St Charles Not very clean
- Wilbur (5/5): it was a place to sleep. - I was on my why home from the Sturgis motorcycle rally and needed a place to rest for the night. They provided that. No frills, no ice machine, no breakfast, not even coffee.
- Steven (6/5): - Decent fleabag hotel. Check in was weird.
- Gfk1962 (9/5): Superb -
- Lily (10/5): - Place is clean but old. Staff got great personality and nice
- Olson (8/5): Very good -
- Gabrielle (2/5): - Bedbugs!!! Do not stay here. The room was disgusting. I’m not a high class girl, but I expect to the room to at least be clean, and the bedding to be washed. Absolutely horrified to pull the bedding and find a bed bug and stains on the bedding.
- Addy (9/5): Superb -
- joseph (6/5): - Nice location, looks good on the outside, easy parking, bed good, shower good, comfortable interior temperature and pleasant atmosphere (air), service very good. Negatives- toilet seat loose, bathroom door drags on floor, tv had lines through screen and refrigerator worked but bably yellowed. Overall would stay again because of good price, location and service.
- Karen (5/5): Depressing, dark, everything was worn out. Manager needs to get some teeth. - Great location. Decent carpet. Comfortable bed. Old and stained shower, bathroom was tiny, heater was antiquated and didn’t work. Bed linens were clean but very old. No shade on one window, just a thin curtain - couldn’t block out the dawn.
- Tim (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carolyne (5/5): Passable - Kind and helpful staff, and the location Both sink and shower water was unsafe to use
Was also not happy when dogs were released this morning without supervision as we were packing and checking out
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Both my son and I slept on top of the covers in fear of bed bugs or other critters
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - I came to visit with my daughter and her family but I think the motel should supply hand soap shampoo and conditioner in little packages and they should sit on the sink.. thank you It was to cold in the room Plus it had a little odor to it ..put Air freshener s
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would advise not to stay here. - Room was dirty and had a smell. Bathroom had no soap in it. Would advise not to stay here.
- Yang (10/5): - The staff is very nice and friendly. The room is old, but it's worthy the price.
- CRAIG (4/5): - Chips of plaster on the floor. He added "local taxes and fees". I have never had that with hotels.com before.
- Laure (6/5): - bed was excellent/comfortable, but overall room was very dated and not very clean
- Jerian (8/5): - Room was clean and comfortable. The exterior of the building needs some repairs and updates.
- John (6/5): - The check in person was very nice and very understanding, because I missed placed my drivers license. This is an older motel but more than adequate for a man attending Gladiolus Days in St. Charles. Clean and the Air Conditioner worked Great for the Hottest weekend this year. I will stay again next year.
- John (10/5): - Good
- Carol (2/5): Skip this place! - This hotel is old and in bad shape. The bathroom was extremely small, and badly in need of renovation. The rate quoted was not the rate that we were charged; it was significantly higher. Checked out a day early, and on-site manager told me he only had authority to charge, not to refund, even though he told me that checking out a day earlier would be no problem. Ended up paying a lot more for two nights in a dumpy hotel.
- Anne (2/5): Keep looking this place is not good. - The carpet was dirty. The room smelled musty. We were not given the type of room we reserved and were over charged. All in all it was an awful experience.
- Leslie (6/5): White Valley Motel critique. - The beds were good, shower was OK. Just a very small bar of soap and shampoo, I couldn't find them but my wife did. No place to plug in a phone charger except the bathroom.
- Anthony J (2/5): Horrible and filthy place - I had a 2 night stay and only stayed 1 night, spoke to the person who checked us in and informed him that the rugs were dirty and stained, the bedding was ripped on both beds, the mattress cover was stained and very worn there was no hand or body soap, the refrigerator was filthy my husband is a diabetic and his medicine needed to be kept in fridge so I had to sleep in the car and keep it running every so often to keep the electric cooler cold enough I sent a message to the property and I spoke to the man who checked us in and asked him to speak to the owner and ask him can he please refunded us for the second night since the room was so bad and unclean, we did not return to the room for the second night and let them know that.
- patricia a (2/5): - Hotel was dirty, smelled and had no shampoo or soap for shower. i was on road for 2 days needed a place to stay and thought since it was the only place in st charles on expedia it would be ok. At least I got some sleep!
- Andrew (6/5): - clean room
- W.F. (6/5): - The check in process was disorganized. Otherwise the rooms and property were appropriate for the room price. This motel is very affordable, and was adequate for a one night stay.
- Marc (6/5): St. Charles Mn. - Rooms floor was filthy, floor was not level. Beds were clean, has microwave I did not use and apt size fridge worked great. Bathroom was small. Did not know about the reservation from previous day, but luckily had one room left.
- Brandon (2/5): - very dated room but i needed a place to sleep nothing else. was overpriced for room i got however.
- janet (10/5): - Sweet little spot. Lovely common area outside
- Dennis (4/5): - Check in was easy. Desk clerk (owner) courteous . Room was average clean. Room was very cold. Hot water heaters appeared not to function, only heat was from a small electric baseboard heater. Extra blankets had an odd smell. Probably not used since last winter.
- Amanda (6/5): - Was ok. The guys were nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nothing. Dirty showe with hair and mold. No soap for hands or shower. No shampoo. Took forever to heat up and when it did there was no way to control it.
- Levi (10/5): - extra pillows and blanket in the room
- Jerry-Cynthia (10/5): - The service was excellent, the guy went out of his way to make us feel comfortable
- Verified traveler (2/5): No-frills disappointment - Booked 1 night for myself and my teenage daughter. Room was definitely no frills -which is fine, I am not fussy- however, there were dead flies (not just 1) on the TV stand and the refrigerator was brown on the inside. Thin bedding, again no-frills, I get it. There was a gentleman in a pickup in the parking lot just staring at us, looked like a possible worker, not sure? Anyway, it made my daughter very uncomfortable. We were there about 15 minutes, then left to stay at a hotel in Rochester. I asked for a refund, but was told "no-sorry". If you are concerned about cleanliness AT ALL I would recommend avoiding.
- Dianne (4/5): Disappointing - Staff and location. Very convient for my work. Not clean. Drain in tub full of hair. Waste basket filthy. Pillow very worn and hard.
Rusty water out of the sink faucet. Had to leave it run for 4 minutes. I90
- Ruth (8/5): Very good - Location and price isn’t too bad. No water pressure in sink or toilet. Mattresses worn out. Would be so nice if they would fix the place up!
- steven (8/5): tiny shower - claustrophobic shower was so tight it was impossible to bend over.
Room was very quiet.
The motel has a good variety of cable stations.
The warped bathroom door doesn't close completely.
Location is perfect for those going to the Winona County Fair across the street.
- Nina (2/5): - There was a dirty mask in the trash can when I arrived. The floor in the bathroom was dirty. No one came in to refresh the room between the dates of my stay. When complaints were made; we were told they “ were going through some stuff”. I will not stay there again.
- Lena (10/5): - Great beds
Great water pressure
Spacious
- Michael (2/5): Hotels.com screwed me - Place is a dump, smelled moldy and musty, like I was in a basement. I did not spend the night, but left after my show.
- Yang (1/5): Bad -
- MICHAEL (4/5): - Shower had mold, room was not very clean.
- Margaret (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. Used 4 rooms 10 people. Very friendly to us stayed the weekend accommodations were clean but what we expected … would definitely stay again
- Hoyt (8/5): Very good - Staff was nice Room stunk, pillow cases dirty, hair on bathroom floor, garbage in medicine cabinet, shower was very small
- Martha (10/5): - Nice big rooms.
- Rishelle (2/5): Very poor - This is a bare bones motel. Actually seemed clean enough but so very old, run down. Floors slant, bed slanted, terribly stained bathtub….couldn’t even look at it let alone use it. Only place in St.Charles……so my recommendation is Do Not stay in St.Charles! ALL!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Yearly trip. - We stay here on our
yearly trip to St Charles. Where we display our model railroad at Gladius days
So convenient perfect for our need. Would recommend.
- Terri (2/5): - It was dirty and run down. Nasty.
- Pam (4/5): Needs a good cleaning. - Old and outdated, which is not a huge deal, but it was not real clean. Stained bedsheets, pillowcase, and mattress pad. I showed it to manager, and he changed it all, and left a note apologizing, which I appreciated. The drawers needed cleaning/ wiping down. Someone’s toothbrush in one drawer. I had disinfectant wipes with me and wiped down pretty much everything.
- Jay (4/5): - Room was very outdated, heaters didn't work that well, there was no heat in the room on my last night stay
- Christopher (2/5): - The hotel is conveniently located but poorly maintained inside the room. This location need a remodeling desperately and a continental breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Check-in was smooth. Very dated property, room smelled really bad, air conditioner was extremely loud, spent 30 minutes figuring out how to plug it in, turns out the outlet next to the air conditioner didn’t work, so we ended up using an extension cord to plug it in which ended up laying on the floor through the entire room. Bedding was clean. Towels in the bathroom smelled bad. Light on the night stand between beds did not work. There were a few wet spots on the carpet on the floor. Shower is very small and does not have even a shelf to place tiny piece of soap. Hair dryer did not work. Wi Fi was fine.
- David (4/5): - Dated but clean...horible wifi....
Friendly staff in a nutshell
- Erica (2/5): Just say no to this place - This is probably the worst place I have ever stayed. We arrived around 4pm. Sign said "open" but door was locked. Rang the doorbell and was left waiting outside for about 15 minutes before a very rude man unlocked the door and let us in. As we gave our information from our online booking, he immediately made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. He informed us that our room was unlocked and the keys were inside, extremely odd. As we pulled up to our room, the phone was ringing before we could even get inside. We answered to which he immediately started yelling at us that we would have to pay more for extra people. He saw my 2 nephews exit the vehicle. We had just come from 4 hours away. We do not see each other often. When we had stopped prior to going to get our room, because it wasn't check in time, they had asked if they could ride with and help us carry our things into the room. He could have at least asked if the kids were with us before beginning to yell at us. So the temps were in the upper 90's during our stay. It's pretty sad that it was cooler outside then it was in our room. The AC unit did not work at all. We attempted to inform the owner, but of course the door was locked. This time though he did not answer when we rung the doorbell, nor when we attempted to call to the office. The beds were harder than rocks. The pillow, yes each person only got 1 pillow, were paper thin. It smelled horrible in the room. TV was so small you couldn't see it
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No one on site for check in . Owners left teenage daughter in charge but told her no one was registered for the night (they were unaware that I'd booked via Expedia) & that she should not open the office door or let anyone check in.
- Michelle (2/5): Okay for no frills - The room had a weird smell and floor was not flat. The bed was somewhat comfortable, it got me through the night. It says tgat this motel has been remodeled but I found no evidence of that. When I took a shower in the morning the hot water was not available all the time and smelled like urine.
- Steve (6/5): Very clean - Very basic motel room that could use some updates. Unfortunately for us it was very cold the night we arrived and the room was freezing. It took a bit of hunting around the room to find the register on the back wall, plug it in and figure out how to get heat. There were no instructions in the room and none offered at the front desk. It took over 3 hours to get enough heat to be able to get ready for the night. The space was immaculate but the beds were very uncomfortable. As a single night accommodation it served its purpose...just.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bedbug dump - Besides of the owner being nice, which is the only and only positive thing about this run down place. This place needs a major overhaul! We had a room with 2 beds and
both beds had bedbugs! It is not only a health hazard but you run the danger in taking the critters with you. In this day and age it should not be happening. Place needs to be fumigated and cleaned. Change bedding, not from one room to the other but it needs to be replaced. Shower head could not be adjusted and it was hitting the wall instead of the person showering. Had to put it on the faucet setting to get a decent shower. Towels were smelly and grey. Floors were uneven. Would absolutely not recommend this place, even if you are desperate, stay someplace else! Keep driving a few miles more or less. Unless they do a complete gutting and overhaul of this motel it is not worth even a dime.
- Jamie (8/5): - This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a clean, comfortable place to rest your head. It is a motel so if you are looking for frills you won't find it, but the price is affordable and the staff were helpful and flexible. I stayed her after my mom had surgery. The staff switched my room at my request so that I would have a recliner for my mom to sleep in. They adjusted my dates of stay when her date of surgery was changed and were able to accommodate an extra night. There are walking paths and a park near by. Subway, a coffee shop and AW are all within walking distance (across the road). There is a great little cafe in town (Dels). It was quiet, with a comfortable bed, clean sheets, and hot water.
- Traci (8/5): Hot shower - I just needed a place to stay. It was an average ma and pa hotel. No frills, but it was clean and a hot shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was nice and cozy and centrally located to where were going. Would stay again.
- STACY (8/5): Nice owners - The room was updated and clean enough. The owner allowed check-in at 5:30 am and gave me a discount for the 2nd night. There was no shampoo/conditioner provided but there was vending available.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s a nice place for an older motel. The office person was very helpful and friendly. I will stay here again if need be.
- MeannieJeannie (2/5): - I was turned away & wasn't allowed to checkin! Very, VERY disappointed!
