Guest Reviews
- LOUISE (10/5): - Superb in every way! Not only is the hotel and its rooms exquisite and charming (500 years old!), the service is next level! The staff (particularly the wonderful Sibelle!) made us feel so welcome! You will not regret a minute of your stay here! :)

- Cody (10/5): - Amazing hotel with excellent service. Rooms were beautiful and beds soft. The rooms are furnished with stunning antique pieces. Great restaurant downstairs!
- Victoria (8/5): Historical building with nicely decorated bedrooms - The rooms are very nicely decorated and the bedding is super comfortable. The building is very clean.
Beware there is very little parking option close the hotel and be prepared to climb as the restaurant and hotels bedrooms are layered up on many floors.
I would have appreciated to have tea/coffee option in the bedroom as I left early and the breakfast was not available yet.
- Anna-maria (10/5): A truly perfect stay, in a beautiful place at the Rhein. - This medieval hotel is simply beautiful - understated and elegant. The staff are very friendly and sensitive, and the food including the breakfast is good quality. N/A. I liked everything.
- Peter (9/5): We were very happy. - The breakfast was delicious and the service very friendly. I found the room a little bit too warm. However it was clean and charmingly decorated.
- John (9/5): I wish I had stayed longer!! - An all around delightful experience! I didn’t have a car and it was only a 30 minute train ride to the airport or Zurich
Excellent restaurant! Nothing
- Anat (9/5): Beautiful hotel next to the Rhine river and not far from Zurich airport. - the hotel is beautiful, full of atmosphire and caracter.
Our room was very specious, clean and comfortable,
Staff was very helpfull (the girl in the reception carried our lugage to the 5th floor).
Dinner at the restaurant was very good. The room was on the fifth floor with no elevator. Luckyly, the girl at the reception helped us with the lugage.
The bathroom in general and the toilets in particular has no door.
Breakfast is served quite late (8:30). We had to leave without.
- Nikolai (9/5): Great relaxing stay with friendly hosts -
- Andre (10/5): Exceptional -
- maged samir (10/5): - Staff are amazingly nice and cooperative. Really old / Authentic and historic hotel but so clean and excellently maintained !
Breakfast was delicious especially bakery was so fresh !
- Benvolio (10/5): A joy - This hotel is a gem. It is a joy to stay here. The building itself is historically fascinating, and it has been intelligently restored to preserve its charming, ancient décor and features, and simultaneously to ensure that it provides top-notch modern conveniences and cleanliness. On successive visits, year after year, one can see that these high standards are rigorously maintained. The establishment is run with impressive efficiency, thoughtfulness and professional expertise by a formidably energetic manageress. The rooms are impeccably "done" every day by the hotel's maids, who obviously take pride in their work. An excellent breakfast is provided. Finally, the hotel's superb position in the heart of old Eglisau, directly overlooking the Rhine, gives its guests immediate access to the lovely, grassy beach along the river, which is a haven of serenity. Swimming safely in the surprisingly warm water of the Rhine during July and August, in that gorgeous setting, is an unforgettable experience. Everything was perfect.
- Lisa (10/5): Super amazing - Everything
The staff was wonderful to our family !! There was a festival and it was great but we could hear everything from the street below
- Michael (9/5): Very spacious room , worth the visit - Super location , spacious wooden room , dog friendly , lovely staff
- Perez (10/5): Beautiful and charming place. - Everyone was very friendly, the hotel was very romantic. We loved it and will come back. It’s the perfect gateway for a couple. Excelente
- Amber (10/5): A true gem! - So happy to have found this gem of a hotel! A historic, 500 year old building on the banks of the Rhine. The room was very comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back! A few things to be aware of: there is no elevator, a taxi or Uber between Eglisau and the Zurich airport cost between 50 and 100 Swiss francs, and the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. But all in all, a lovely, relaxing place, so different from Zurich.
- Rebekah (10/5): - We stayed in this delightful hotel the night before our flight back home. Even though we checked in late and checked out early, we enjoyed the accommodations. The hotel is in an old building with gorgeous wood floors and updated amenities, including a spacious bathroom. The communication from the hotel was prompt and helpful, and I recommend staying here.
- Radhika (9/5): It was an amazing experience ! - The Staff was extremely helpful.
- Kemmbelly (7/5): Would probably not go again, but not bad - Beautiful location, clean, nice personnel, good breakfast 237.- for one night is failry expensive and is not justified. (Dark rooms, uneven floors, expensive food but small menues)
- Huib (10/5): Die Aussicht alleine! - Debt gut Und freundlich
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, great service and very friendly.
- Margaret (10/5): A treat! - Historic, welcoming, went above and beyond
- Zsd (10/5): Gorgeous, spacious rooms, beautiful river view. - Very helpful, friendly staff. Gorgeous, spacious rooms, beautiful river view. It was incredibly hot when we were there so without AC it was a little uncomfortable in the middle of the day.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Sergejs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Celia (10/5): Charm by the Rhine - The location, the views, the service, the overall charm of the building and the place. And the restaurant is perfect for a nice summer evening. I loved this place and have been there twice in a couple of months.
- Richard (8/5): - Perfect last evening before flying out of Zürich
- Traveller (10/5): - The property is located on the Rhein River and our room had an amazing view. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning and the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The room was modern and super clean, but the hotel itself is a historical building. There is a small beach and changing rooms nearby and it is possible to swim in the river. Over the bridge and near the hotel you can rent kayaks and SUP’s. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station and downhill. It is uphill going back to the station but you can take a bus (5 min. ) or call a taxi. There is a wonderful bar/tapas on the river with live music about a 5 min. walk from he hotel called Vivi Kola. Opens at 3pm. Get there early 5pm to get a seat. Loved our stay in his quiet village. Lots of beautiful walks along the river.
- Fabrice (10/5): - Très beau et authentique !
- Christina (10/5): Sensationell - Sensationell, wir kommen wieder CH&NL Freunde
- lynn (10/5): Historical hotel with a great view of the rhine - An employee took the time to explain the history and historical highlights of the hotel.
