- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel, small room but clean. - This hotel was very interesting, there are doors between the room in the hallway so it makes it very quiet. The room was very small but nice and clean. We did not eat here but it had a large dining room.
- Chris (10/5): Friendly hotel, good amenities and EV charging. - A one night sta with my wife. The room was clean and comfortable and my wife really appreciated the black-out curtains. Coffee , tea and water were provided. Bathroom was clean and we were able to have a decent shower. The pressure is not too strong but adequate enough and the water was hot. There are extensive grounds but it was raining one day and extremely hot the next so couldn't take advantage of a stroll. Enjoyed a very tasty breakfast with everything you could want from a full English to pastries, fruit and yoghurt. Would definitely stay here again. The added bonus was the 2 EV charging points which I didn't see listed in the amenities. Was great as I could charge overnight and drive home without stopping.
- Sanjiv (10/5): - Excellent service when I needed to alert the hotel that we would be late in checking in. The reception staff was waiting for us when we arrived slightly later than originally mentioned. The check-in process was completed quickly and we were in our rooms soon after.

- Nathan (8/5): - Overall, a charming property with real character. The room was beautifully decorated, well appointed, and the bed was especially comfortable—perfect for unwinding. The bathroom was clean and modern, with good-quality fixtures, though some of the furniture and smaller fittings (like the towel rail and toilet roll holder) could use a bit of tightening or TLC. One thing to note: our room was located above a communal area that wasn’t soundproofed, so it was a bit noisy until around 11 p.m.—not disruptive, but something to keep in mind for light sleepers. The staff were friendly and attentive, though they were quite enthusiastic about promoting the on-site dining options. Not pushy, but we were asked several times if we wanted to add meals or make dinner reservations. That said, it’s a lovely place with a lot of charm, and with just a few tweaks it could be a truly standout stay.

- Amelia (8/5): Guaranteed a good night sleep, bed so comfy - Very Comfortable bed - I slept really well (have osteoarthritis and spinal disease, so sleep impossible on a bad mattress), nice bathroom (though no space to put things like soap in the shower), not much cupboard space, just open shelves, but for short stay this is fine. No hairdryer in room, otherwise really nice place, and breakfast was good, though coffee not nice as it's clearly a dark roast and strongly made, I like strong coffee, but not dark roast, it's just bitter and all true bean taste lost. Will stay again when we come down to Witney to visit our nephew. Our usual hotel's been repurposed, so had to find another decent place to stay, and Sudbury house ticks the boxes.

- Emily (8/5): An okay stay - We booked a stay at Sudbury House on our 22nd wedding anniversary, having got married at Sudbury. We certainly didn't want a fuss but I was very surprised that at no point was there any sort of acknowledgment that we had married at the hotel 22 years previously, not even a congratulations at check in or a card in the room. Our room was comfortable but small. It was clean and the bathroom had a lovely shower. There's a kettle for tea and coffee. The 'view' from our room was a patch of grass at the side of the property and annoyingly the windows were at a 90 degree angle to a clear glass walkway in the adjoining hallway so anyone walking to their room looked straight into ours, straight at the bed. This meant that day and night we had to keep the thick curtains closed. The young staff at the hotel who served us dinner and breakfast were very good - both professional and friendly and very polite. They are a credit to the hotel. The food for breakfast and dinner was very good quality and it was the food and the young members of staff that made our stay enjoyable. I think that the hotel lacked a little bit of the personal touch, and perhaps some of the overlooked rooms should be fitted with reflected film on the windows or some sort of net curtains to provide some kind of privacy.

- Nicki (4/5): More notel than Hotel - The stay started off well with a very warm welcome by reception. We asked if we could have some snacks prepared for when we came back from an event and was told a firm no. They had a small wedding going on so the Chef was too busy. We asked if we could have food / snacks at all and was told no - food is only served at Breakfast and Dinner. We felt that as they had a wedding they were not interested in making our stay a welcome one. When we tried to get drinks, we had to look for someone to assist - as they were all busy with the wedding.

- David (10/5): Highly recommended - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help. Our car broke down on the way, so we arrived very late. We had booked the restaurant and the chef had waited long after the normal serving time had passed in case we arrived. On arrival, although the restaurant had closed we were given a complimentary drink and pizza. The food in the restaurant the next day was excellent and service was quick and friendly. Good breakfast/ The room was comfortable and clean, perhaps could do with a bit more storage for clothes . Certainly a hotel that we would revisit if we were in the area again.

A delightful employee with natural interpersonal skills, that moved from reception to restaurant with ease. For a hotel that advertises as dog friendly, I would say it was a bit more ‘Dogs are put up with, but we’re not that keen!’
- WILLIAM (6/5): - Restaurant closed for dinner during visit but only a few people staying. Shame as website photographs looked great. Must be a great wedding venue. Lovely patio and gardens around the back. Our room was down a long corridor with 5 fire doors but was spacious and really clean The receptionist did not bother to ask if we had enjoyed our visit when we checked out.

- Leslie (6/5): Fabulous grounds/staff, some rooms not remodelled. - Was looking forward to this overnight staycation...specifically picked a nice hotel to take my family for the night. Had i known all rooms were not remodelled i would have not driven to this location specifically. The room was not like the pics and we were given an old room which was musky and the bathroom smelt like sewage. We did not say anything as we arrived late (about 8ish) and just wanted to get the kids comfortable and to sleep. The overall hotel grounds were lovely. The path in the back of the hotel was beautiful. Staff was fantastic and very friendly and helpful--especially the lady that was serving breakfast. I would only stay again if i knew i was getting a newer room.

- polin (6/5): Dirty plug. - The bathroom basin seems blocked. So pull up the plug, a whole lot of hair was dangling on the end. Plug also not cleaned - very dirty. Hearing not on. Had to ask to turn it on. Single sofa bed not great. Once both opened, space was limited. Not family friendly at all. Breakfast was good even though the bacon was extremely salty.

Hotel rang me immediately after booking to advise a wedding was taking place and said they would try and give me a quiet room; they did and i couldn't fault it. The restaurant food was excellent and good breakfast . Lovely gardens. Cons. Hotel areas lack a bit of character and some corridors smelled a bit like a hospital, possibly from disinfecting areas, but these are minor observations. Overall a very good hotel and would recommend.

- DAVID (4/5): - Pleasant accommodation but no evening meal available as restauranr booked. Chef apparently would not offer soup or a snack. Directed to a takeaway or Indian restaurant. Very noisy room, not apparently doubleglazed and directly opposite the disco for a wedding receptoon with several double doors to the reception wide open until late evening. No safety grab rails for the frail and elderly to get in and out of the bath/shower. Basin plug stuck and took me 10 minutes to take out with a pair of scissors at 11pm. At breakfast we ordered tea and received a pot with one teabag for 2 peple. Won't be going back!

- Karen (6/5): - The hotel was ok. The grounds were really nice, so if you have a nice day or a sunny evening, it would be nice to sit out there. The room is basic, but clean. You get tea, coffees, biscuits and water, replenished every day, which was great. The shower, however, wasn’t very powerful. I have fine hair & it took ages to get the shampoo out. I dread to think about how long the trickle would take people with thick hair! That was my only down point really. Other than the foyer smelt a bit odd, but the room and corridor to the room smelt nice.

- Michele (8/5): - The Sudbury is a beautiful place to stay and would recommend it however the village of Faraday has sadly been affected by Covid. A lot of the shops and restaurants were closed. If we come back in a couple of years hopefully the village would be in better shape.

Great location on the edge of Faringdon with easy walking access to local shops and restaurants. Also, well situated to visit nearby attractions of Oxford and Cotswolds.

- Mark (6/5): Avoid the restaurant - Booked a nights stay with some family after reading positive reviews on the app but was left very disappointed. Although the hotel itself is relatively modern and clean, the food in the restaurant for dinner fell very short. Items off the menu, missing ingredients when served, bland tasting and was told to order desert quickly because "the chef doesn't likeaking food" after being made to wait 45 minutes for the main course. Will not be back.

Bin had rust the button stuck in on toilet, bed base stained and the carpets could do with a clean. Shower had no pressure and temp fluctuated. Chef Lee made the most amazing breakfast 😊 and the lady on reception on leaving Saturday morning was an asset to have when welcoming people. 😊.
- Carolyn (8/5): Sudbury stayed - Pretty comfortable for the money, food very nice too. Buffet lunch , 3 course dinner and breakfast. . No feather pillows for fussy me and no room fridge. Slightly scruffy in some of the high traffic areas but overall very enjoyable stay. Lovely countryside.
- Arthur (8/5): - Overall it was good but they really need to have more than one receptionist in peak checkin times I had to wait 35 minutes to check in despite the heroic efforts of the poor single receptionist also be aware that if you have a child o ver the age of 4 you will pay £7.50 for there breakfast and if one of your party ( mother inlaw) in our case only wants a coffee and toast its £12.50, All staff were excellent.

- Mark (10/5): - All the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, both for breakfast and evening meal. The hotel was inexpensive, tastefully decorated and quiet. It is well worth taking a walk around the beautiful grounds. Next time we visit the Cotswolds, we would love to come back here!

- D (10/5): Can do better with some warmth in the decor - Very clinical old age home fee- lacked character. However staff were excellent very helpful and the food surprisingly was good not expected there after seeing the hotel.
- Joanne (8/5): Poor value for money - Pleasant enough hotel but a Premier Inn would have been better value for money. Breakfast was pretty poor unless you like a cooked breakfast. Room was freezing when we arrived as the radiator was switched off.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice overall but hidden charges - It was nice and the staff were friendly. Lovely village too. Downside was that dinner was expensive and with hidden charges (e.g. a service charge was added onto room bill, weirdly). They also charged us for a breakfast we didn’t have, and we are still waiting for the refund. Just watch out for sneaky charges.

- Tanya (6/5): - Hotel looked lovely and was very clean. Rooms were well laid out however shower facilities need improving. We booked breakfast for the 4 of us but only 3 of us ate on the second day as my son was not feeling well, yet we still paid for 4. We also ate in restaurant on evening, my pizza base was burnt and didn’t eat most of it, I told the waitress but at no point did anyone come to discuss it, customer service could be improved also.
- KA KI (10/5): - Comfortable stay with kids during term break! Staff were attentive, kids friendly, polite. Room was good enough in size, but the radiator was placing behind the thick curtain which quite weird :D Cleanness was prefect! Breakfast had good selections, however I would suggest people can go out to the town to have dinner. There was few restaurants look good. I’ve tried the Floyd’s Grill that was excellent.

- Stephen (6/5): Nice hotel but....... - This would have been a good stay for a work trip to Farringdon, but unfortunately it failed on my most basic requirement - 2 out of 2 good nights sleep. My room was located above the bar area, and next door to a room that seem to have a fair bit of alcohol being consumed. Whilst I could hear talking in the bar, the main problem was the very annoying bass line sound from the ceiling speakers in the bar, which went on late and then started early (I went to sleep and woke up early with this ringing in my ears). Next afternoon I asked to changes rooms but instead the music volume/bass was adjusted which did improve things. Being pretty exhausted I fell asleep quickly around 11pm....... Only to be startled awake at 1am by what turned out to be a false fire alarm. The alarm in my room was absolutely deafening. I'd be surprised if it is within legal limits for noise, and certainly slowed my evacuation as it put me into a complete state of panic trying find some clothes to throw on.... We were told it was OK to return to rooms and I tried to get back to sleep. It was quite warm/muggy (the room is not airconditioned) so I had my windows open. As I was drifting off at about 1.45pm, there was the sound of loud talking and laughing from outside below my room. Some smokers (who looked like staff but I can't be sure) were outside making a very thoughtless racket. I closed the windows and tried to get back to sleep. Then a dog started barking soemwhere in the building, so I gave up.
- Paul (8/5): Lovely Break in Cotswolds - We enjoyed our stay at Sudbury House. Staff were friendly and efficient. Our first mornings breakfast was table service, which was fine, second morning was buffet help yourself, again very good. Large dining room well spaced out. We went during the heatwave, so our room was hot, luckily the staff provided a fan for us which helped. Lovely gardens with gate leading to lane to Folly on hilltop.
- Christine (10/5): Dog friendly - Have stayed here a few times with our dog, it's a very dog friendly hotel, it's also immaculately clean and well looked after, didn't use restaurant this time, but food has always been good in the past, they are always very friendly full of local information would recommend to anyone especially those with dogs
