Front end employee was extremely rude and condescending-she acted like we were inconveniencing her and that she couldn’t be bothered answering our questions. We often stay at holiday inns and usually like them-but this place was awful. They know nothing about customer service!

• Tearza (4/5): - We actually decided to change hotels after check in. Staff was very kind. The hallway leading down to our room had old carpet, walls that were (we assume) being renovated? There were holes being held by tape that was peeling off. The room itself had a very strong musty smell and a few moths flying around. I’m sure Much of that was Out of the control of the management but my family and I would not have been comfortable. Unfortunately next door was a very upset infant so all things considered we just decided to move.

When I went to the desk to explain our room phone wasn’t working, we’re wet met with a “sorry”-no offer to have maintenance look at it. When we asked for pillows for the pull out we were told they were out. The receptionist said she’d look for some, but as we walked away she sat back down and started on her cell phone again. We never did get pillows.
• HMom2 (8/5): Overnight stay - Hotel was clean and quiet. Beds were not very comfortable and the air conditioner unit made a racket all night. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was standard for IHG and met expectations. Spent one night to break up a long road trip

• Nomad11807441611 (6/5): Won’t return - Room smelled like dogs had stayed there. My daughter thought it smelled like sweat. Spent first part of my stay spraying a can of Lysol empty trying to get rid of the stench. Hotel rooms shouldn’t have carpet because they retain smells. Check-in was fast and friendly. Grounds are well taken care of and there is plenty of parking. If I managed this place I’d be embarrassed.

The morning lady didn’t have the same friendly attitude. Can’t win'em all. They do have a few plugs for boaters.

Perfect location for an evening rest stop! - Family friendly and welcoming from the start of the phone call for reservations. The receptionists were helpful! Vacationing on our way to the Gulf with 2 adults and a 3yr old. Even though there was only 1 king size bed room left with no couch we had plenty of space. There was a working couch that worked perfectly for our 3yr old. Beautiful facility. Nice amenities. Easy access on and off the highway. Amazing breakfast options. Indoor pool was refreshing since the weather was too cool to swim outside. Easy access to many food options, but close to AL #1 BBQ - Big Bob’s! • Denise (10/5): - Service was great until the one night that I was really resting and the fire alarm malfunctioned at 1:07 a.m. causing everyone to evacuate only to find out it was a false alarm. I understand that I would rather have a false alarm than no alarm at all with an actual fire though. Please hurry up and get that fixed, please!
• Ray (4/5): - This was our return trip stay from vacation.We stayed here the week before heading to vacation on 8/13. The 8/13 stay was even worse. We would've changed hotels after the 13th, but rates had gone up significantly. The 8/20 stay was disappointing because the a.c. unit would get noisy at random intervals. We should've tried to change rooms but were so tired and gathering everything up for just a few hours didn't seem worth it. The stay on 8/13 was marred by a noisy guests. The staff tried to calm them down, but it was pointless. Rock The South was that weekend and the hotel was filled w/ concert goers. The combined experiences of the two stays made us decide we won't be staying here again.

• Tonja (2/5): Terrible Smell - The hotel had the worst smell that I have ever smelled in my life. The staff didn’t know where it was coming from and offered no apology or solution. I was sick the whole trip from the smell. We are supposed to be returning the end of the month, there is no way I will stay there until that smell is gone.
• gregn516 (6/5): Nice rooms - bad smell - Half of our family stayed at this hotel last night. The other half was in another hotel we were forced to use for a soccer tournament. In comparison, the Holiday Inn was mostly a big upgrade. Much nicer grounds, lobby and room. The room was also a lot bigger and better appointed. The one big drawback is the smell that hits you in the face the moment you walk into the lobby. I don’t know what it is, but it reminded my wife of the time a mouse died in a wall. Fortunately it was much less prominent on the 3rd floor, and almost gone in the room. We brought in food last night after our last soccer match and intended to eat in the common area on the first floor, but quickly realized the smell was not compatible with eating.
• adunlevy (2/5): Dirty - Booked this hotel on our way to Florida, my husband travels for work often and always uses holiday inn express..this one is dirty. Our floor looks like it’s never been swept, a dirty towel hanging in the bathroom, the mirror in the bathroom is so dirty you can’t see yourself.
• Bedford (6/5): Like trying to sleep in a barrel... - The hotel had a strangely “hollow” sound to it, causing the noise of roaring vehicles from the two nearby gas stations and nearby busy highway to loudly echo through the room all night. In the morning, someone was moving metal chairs from the pool about 6:15. It was hard to sleep with all the noise.

Everywhere. We notified the front seat and they moved us to a double bed room. The problem is they did not seem concerned at all. No offer to help, nothing. They showed no concern that there is a bug infestation or that we had to down grade rooms.

No coffee available except for in your room. 2 other Holiday Inn within an hour of each other are open and great. Coffee available at the desk for you and they are trying very hard. This hotel is not trying they just close things off. I left 2days early and found a much better IHG.

• KellyB727 (2/5): Disgusting property! Not what you would expect from Holiday Inn Express. - Do not stay at this property! We checked in without any problems. When we got to the room and looked around, we found a used towel was hanging on the bathroom door! Gross. Clearly housekeeping didn't do much if don't even remove used towels. Then went to get ice, opened the ice bucket and a used bag of melted water was in there. Then a used Q tip between the bed and the wall. ZERO housekeeping. Disgusting. I let the front desk know and she was going to tell her manager. I never heard from him and the second day the room wasn't better. It would not have done any good to move to move to another room, due to fact front desk said same people cleaned all floors. This is disgusting even in times without COVID. So much for Holiday Inn stepping up housekeeping to help prevent spread. Awful property. Stay away! IHG corporate should be appalled they are operating under their name.

A bit of a drive from restaurants. Front desk girl didn’t seem to know as much about IHG members as I am used to.

I can't say enough about them! Kim & her sister in housekeeping are attentive and checked on us everyday I was here! The front desk ladies are RockStars!! I absolutely love it here!!!
• 61tmd (8/5): Almost new, clean. Pleasant stay, - Did not realize this would be located so far from I65. Chose this location because it was relatively new and reasonable price. Check in went fine, once in the floor and room, noticed that it felt really musty. Called downstairs and asked if they had recently cleaned carpeting. She moved us as I have asthma and would be bothered by this. Was VERY pleasant and accomodating even though it was a disruption to her I'm sure. Was better on another floor. Don't feel that they should leave the rooms "in service", especially when they aren't that busy. Check out person was a little frazzled and not as polished as she should have been. Breakfast was HIE typical choices, issues with the pancake maker. Host was busy talking to other staff at front counter. Overall we did enjoy the property.

• F6602ZEtracys (10/5): Nice new hotel - I stayed here during Memorial Day weekend. This is a brand new hotel. Loved room. spacious Comfortable bed. Had a fridge. Nice, modern decor. Friendly staff. Down the street is the mall and any fast food chain you could want. This is my first Holiday Inn Express. I am an IHG gold. I stay at a lot of Crowne Plazas. Loved it. Very new and modern. The other hotels down the street are not as new. Would stay here again.

When we arrived we were told that Expedia had not properly told them that we ordered a king room so we were currently booked for a double since they had no more kings left. Although this wasn’t their fault, they still upgraded us to a king suite for the night. The Star was very welcoming when we checked in and they even checked on us a few times at breakfast to make sure we had everything we needed and even encouraged us to take some food for the road. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable compared to other Holiday Inns we’ve been to before. Overall very satisfied with our stay!
• michigtraveler (10/5): Nice new hotel! - Was a pleasure staying at this new property with the modern HIE design in room. Lots of restaurants and businesses within a short drive. Standard HIE breakfast. I will stay here my next time passing through.
• MinnyTrips (10/5): Nice,new and clean - We only stayed for one night, but our double queen room was spacious and comfortable. Our room on the third floor was very quiet. The room was well laid out and included a refrigerator. There was a nook in the room that would make a great dressing area had there been a door or some sort of divider. I would choose this Hotel again.
• RU4Real2 (10/5): My choice in Decatur - Another business trip to Decatur AL that was enhanced by a great hotel. The staff was so warm and welcoming on arrival. The hotel has the new HIE updated design and the beds are wonderful. I got a great nights sleep in a quiet room. Although the hotel is not “downtown”, there are many eating options within a couple miles and I suggest Scruggs BBQ on Hwy 20 as a place to try.
