• Barb (9/5): Will stay here again and recommend to friends and family. - The staff were excellent! Shuttle bus service at this location is an awesome perk…it’s not only for the airport. Continental breakfast was perfect. Facility was clean Room was comfortable. My only complaint, a minor one, is the grout around shower was dirty (maybe some mold?) This is so common in hotel bathrooms but it always bugs me.

• Eric (10/5): - We were traveling with a newborn on oxygen. As soon as we got checked in the baby went into crisis mode. Staff was exceptional in their response!!! They made sure the ambulance got in and straight to our room and checked on us after the crisis had passed

The room was attractive, spacious, and comfortable. Loved the modern bathroom with the walk in shower. The free breakfast was fantastic! When I first walked in, there was no one at the reception desk. It took a couple minutes of looking around for an employee before she noticed me and came to assist me.

The hot tub was a little cooler than I prefer and juice machine was out of order at breakfast. Overall not deal breakers.

The tub needs new caulking. The tub faucet didn't quite switch all the way to shower mode. The mattress was a bit too firm, yikes! I kinda felt like I was sleeping on a wood table.

• R5789PRkimg (8/5): Great One Night Stsy - We spent a Sunday night in a suite on 4th floor. Room was clean. Bathroom tub was not pretty. Pet fee $25 much more reasonable than my normal Hyatt brand. Breakfast was good with cheese omelette, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fresh pancake machine, juices. The cinnamon roll was ok; not nearly enough frosting for me. Parking lot at night well lit for my dog walking. Area safe. Free parking. Not too far from interstate. The only issue is it appeared hot tub needed a good cleaning. It smelled too.

• Monique (6/5): - Upon arrival, I found out their wifi was out; they were waiting for a part. The pool was closed for servicing. My room was clean and comfortable, but the walls are thin. My neighbor had the loudest TV. I was surprised to have a neighbor, as the hotel seemed pretty empty. The staff was very nice, the hotel felt safe, and breakfast was good.

• Jennifer (6/5): - I was disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed. We were not informed of this until we checked in. It would have been nice to offer a discount/partial refund. The reason I booked this hotel was too keep two kids in my family occupied with the pool while another kid in my family was at the skate park all day for a competition. I definitely would not have paid this much for a hotel without a pool/hot tub. I was pretty sore after driving all day to get here from another state, which was another reason for me booking a hotel with a hot tub. My hotel reservation through expedia was fully paid for and non-refundable, so I was stuck with it. Overall, we were disappointed. This was the first time in a couple of years that I've stayed at a Holiday Inn and I will probably avoid them going forward and stick to Marriott.

• Adam (6/5): - Overall the hotel wasn't bad. Our room definitely needing some uplift. The ceiling was discolored in places along with the walls. Shower faucet was about broken away from the wall and needed more caulking. The hand soap was also empty in the room, and other amenities in the shower were almost empty. If you just need an overnight stay it's not too bad.
• TMicahT9 (10/5): Comfortable, reliable HIE with an excellent hospitality team. - Reliable HIE property that's new, pet friendly, and excellent staff. All the comfort and convenience of an HIE with the extra perk of being new, in a great central location for downtown and uptown cafes, bistros, and art scene. We always stay here when visiting Des Moines. The team here provides excellent customer service. This time, Brittany at the front desk was friendly, professional and acknowledged on IHG Diamond Ambassador status and provided us the the corresponding perk. A very pleasant stay. I highly recommend the HIE Downtown Des Moines.

Shuttle service to take you anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel. Nice continental breakfast area. Used the pool, hot tub and fitness center- no issues with anything.

• drinaely (6/5): Fine but noisy - We stayed here on a roadtrip for 1 night and the hotel was spacious and pretty clean. The first room we opened smelled like an old hotel room- musty like a smoker almost. We asked for a new room and the new room was completely fine. However if you are a light sleeper, I would ask for the top floor. We were on floor 3 and could hear people running above us all night. I did call the front desk at 1am but the noise started up again at 5. It was a Tuesday night so not sure what was going on. The trains were also going through and blowing whistling so not the quietest location if noise bothers your sleeping. Otherwise fine for one night. We did have our dog along and they were very welcoming of that with a $25 dog fee. Plenty of places to walk the dog around the hotel. Great pizza place walkable called meatball mad.

They had high quality comfortable beds and linens. The bath had a great shower, with adequate vanity space. The room was well designed with a desk and effective lighting. There is also plenty of parking on the premises. It is pet friendly with a modest pet fee.

The only reason I didn’t rate it high is the building showed a few sign of wear and tear. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

• Steven (8/5): - The property was well suited just outside of major traffic, and made for convenient walkable distances. Very solid and clean place. A slight ding comes from the internet throughout the whole building being very poor/non existent.
