• Sean (10/5): Wonderful Hotel - Everything. The hotel is truly beautiful. Our room was enormous and had a jacuzzi in the room 😎The gardens are kept meticulously. The lovely pool and pool jacuzzi are tended by the most wonderful pool attendant who always ensures that he has towels available. We also took a canoe ride out into the lagoon and he was our guide. We were the only ones out on the lagoon save for a solitary fisherman. Paddling through the mangroves was magical as was the array of birdlife. Afterwards we enjoyed great cocktails and chilled by the pool. Breakfast was very good as was bar food. We did not eat much or dinner at the hotel but only because we wanted to explore local offerings. Lastly it would be remiss not to mention the outstanding staff at the hotel who were attentive and very polite and made our stay a delight. Nothing. This place is outstanding- It feels more authentic than the bigger, more lavish but perhaps brasher Cinnamon Blu just 100 metres away.

Loved the restaurant food (thank you chef Suneth!) and the bar. We arrived at 4pm and by 4.30pm were in a kayak heading out into the beautiful lagoon with a mini picnic for a spectacular sunset, which we watched from a rock whilst enjoying the peace, views and wildlife (esp the eagles). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we had a couple of the best massages we’ve ever enjoyed 😊 Fascinating area to visit. Everything was very good

• Kris (10/5): Tranquility in paradise - This was our best 6 days restfull holiday ever. The food was amazing. As a Tamil who has been overseas for 48 years, I really appreciated the chef going out of his way to cook all the different dishes I requested for breakfast and dinner. The junior suite was spacious, had a comfortable bed, sports channels streaming and excellent room service. The rooms were cleaned and refreshed everyday to the highest standard. The service excellent throughout the hotel and was with a smile. Being quiet season, the weather was mild and we had the pool to ourselves for lap swimming By the time we left, we felt as though we were part of the family. We missed the hospitality when we arrived at a 5 star hotel in Colombo for 4 nights. Hopefully we will return one day.

We found it to be the best pool we could find in Trincomalee with a decent deep end. Rare in trincomalee. We all loved it so much that we booked it for a second time during our holiday. Very central to all the best hotspots like Fernando’s bar district. 5 mins walk. Would definitely recommend five stars all the way. That we had to leave:)

Very large and comfortable room with terrace leading to pool. All staff delightful, very attentive and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and dinners were excellent. The hotel provided better drivers' accommodation than the other hotels we stayed at. Handy location between Trincomalee and Nilaveli. Took a long time to get hot water in the shower and jacuzzi. Reported this and hotel were unaware but will look into it.

La struttura è curata nei minimi dettagli e molto pulita e situata in una posizione leggermente isolata, lontana dalla confusione ma comunque a pochi passi dalla spiaggia di Uppuveli e dai ristoranti/negozi. La colazione e la cena, entrambe a buffet, offrivano un’ampia scelta e di ottima qualità, mentre il pranzo è possibile gustarlo a bordo piscina direttamente sul lettino o al bar adiacente. La camera, spaziosa e luminosa, offriva una vista mozzafiato sulla baia che ha reso il risveglio ancora più speciale. Un luogo dove sentirsi coccolati e rilassati: lo consiglio assolutamente! niente
• clare (7/5): A pleasant but overpriced stay - Very big rooms. Viewing deck lovely to watch the sunset. Nice big pool. Great aircon in the room. Lovely shower. This didn’t feel like a five star resort to us - the facilities were quite outdated and old with great room for improvement (for example: the pool chair cushions were grubby/tatty/missing entirely, there were no cushions provided if you wanted to sit by the lagoon, the coffee machine was broken so cappuccinos weren’t possible, they didn’t have ingredients for some of the cocktails on the menu) There is no gym on the premises. The cocktails were also very, very overpriced - they charge £14 for a margarita! The rooms were cleaned but again, not to five star standard - dirty glasses and spoons were left and not replaced with clean ones.

The bartender lacked cocktail knowledge, and both times I ordered, the drinks were poor quality despite being expensive.

The team arranged all of our activities seamlessly. A special thanks to the Guest Relations Executive, Sri Mayuran, who was extremely helpful, as well as Mithu from the restaurant —both made our holiday truly memorable. The hotel is spotless, the food is delicious, and the location is excellent. Highly recommended!

• Bram (6/5): - De kamer was heel groot en van alle luxe voorzien! De rest van het hotel is verouderd. Zowel het verblijf rond het zwembad als de bar en toegang kan een opfrisbeurt gebruiken. Een groot contrast met de kamer zelf die er prima uitzag. Vooral het prijskaartje stond niet in verhouding met wat je te zien kreeg. De avond van Volle Maan was er geen drank te verkrijgen. Volgens de barman kon je ook geen drank meenemen naar de kamer. In het zwembad waren veel kinderen aan het spelen waardoor rusten rond het zwembad moeilijk was. De bediening was oké, maar niet zo warm als we elders in Sri Lanka hebben mogen ontvangen. Het hotel ligt op wandelafstand van het strand, maar je moet wel langs een smal en verlaten straatje.

• helen (10/5): Will definitely return to Trincomalee and this delightfully peaceful hotel. - I was ill during the whole stay so we only used room service which was excellent, as was the room which was huge with wonderful bed, a lounge area with tv and a balcony, so the best place to be ill! A short walk to the beach. A lovely swimming pool and attractive grounds. A quieter more authentic hotel than the upmarket western hotel up the road. I am looking forward to going again when I am in full health to fully appreciate everything the hotel and the area has to offer. Nothing.

• Anna (9/5): Beautiful and relaxing stay at Amaranthe. - We had a wonderful stay at Amaranthe Bay. Our room was beautiful and very clean, with everything we needed including excellent AC, TV, coffee making facilities, sofa area, and lockable safe. The bathroom was large with a good shower, and we particularly loved our jacuzzi tub and balcony area overlooking the pool. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and helped with anything we needed. The pool area was beautiful and clean, and we loved the cocktails from the bar. We also enjoyed having massages at the spa. The hotel was a short walk to Trincomalee beach and great local restaurants. The WiFi wasn't very good and we often struggled to connect. A curtain in front of the jacuzzi tub window would have also been useful as the net blinds meant the room got very light early. We also found the music played in the outdoor pool area not very relaxing or enjoyable (classical renditions of old pop songs on loop). Although the cocktails were great we weren't very impressed with the restaurant food so chose to eat out after a couple of visits.

• Arwin (8/5): - Amaranthe is a peaceful and quiet complex with a nice pool and a small-scale restaurant. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. the staff were very friendly and welcoming. All in all, a pleasant and comfortable stay. While the price is higher compared tot many other accommodations in Sri Lanka, it's worth noting that there are relatively few upscale options in the Trincomalee area.

• Wietske (8/5): Mooi hotel, goede locatie, aandacht voor verbetering - Prachtige ligging, mooi hotel op Loopafstand van de zee. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Fijne bar en goed ontbijt. Allemaal Luxe. Jacuzzi met uitzicht op het zwembad was prachtig. Onze driver had een verblijf bij het hotel. In tegenstelling tot de luxe voor de gasten was dit echt ondermaats ( met meerdere personen in stapelbedden) en is hij ergens anders gaan slapen. We kregen hier een nare bijsmaak door. Hoe prettig alles voor ons was maar hoe slecht voor de drivers. Ook goed zorgen voor de drivers is belangrijk. Als dit op orde zou zijn is het een top hotel, maar anders komen we hier niet meer terug.

• Maya (8/5): Beautiful hotel in Trinco - The staff are amazing here as they are so attentive and friendly. They made sure everything was looked after and were available to help with anything. The rooms are absolutely stunning, they look out onto the lake so you wake up to a stunning view. It's a little inconvenient to get to as it's not on the beach or the main road. We also were a bit surprised to find breakfast not included and an additional cost.
• Ireneusz (9/5): Boska Zatoka - Niesamowita lokalizacja przy rzece / zatoce. Boski zachód słońca. Cicho. ogromny basen i dużo miejsca do relaksu. W pokoju jacuzzi ale trzeba uważaj na obserwator za okienkiem :) Śniadania i obsługę kelnerską. na dwa pobytu mieliśmy dwa rodzaje podawania śniadań. Jednego było z karty a drugiego był już szwedzki stół. Pierwszego dnia podawanie śniadań trwało wieki plus Pan donosił nam już wystudzone potrawy bo czekały na inne potrawy.
• Raphael (8/5): - Le personnel au petits soins, la notion de satisfaction du client, le buffet petit déjeuner excellent et très diversifié, la piscine incroyable, le calme absolu, la propreté et la taille des chambres. juste peut être les prix exorbitants pour dîner sur place ou pour les massages proposés. Les vélos (bien utiles pour aller dans les différents restaurants de la petite ville .;-)) clairement pas dans un état digne du standard de l'hôtel et qui devraient être un service gratuit de base.

• Sarah (7/5): Nice hotel with lots of positives, but overpriced for what it is - After some initial hiccups with the air conditioning not working and the jacuzzi bath not functioning, we were moved to another room which was identical. The room was huge and in good condition. The jacuzzi bath, was a pleasant addition. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pool was a decent size and not busy. The towels in the room were lovely and fluffy. The resort is definitely not a 5 star place and the rating is somewhat misleading. There were public areas which needed better maintenance and it was overpriced for what the condition of the place. The coffee at breakfast was undrinkable, with the paid-for version not much better. This is really a 3 star plus, maybe a 4 star, hotel and if that was how it had been advertised I would have overlooked some of the negatives had we not been paying as much to stay there.

• ILIA (9/5): - Бассейн, вид из окна, джакузи, размер номера, вежливый персонал, быстрое заселение, красивый дворик-сад с пальмами и ухоженными дорожками. Отель не около пляжа, и, соответственно, лежаков от данного отеля на пляже представлено не было.
• Lisa (9/5): Super! - Super grote kamer, van alle comfort voorzien. Hele resort ziet er heel netjes uit. Heerlijk zwembad ook! Activiteiten die ze aanbieden zijn 3 x zo duur als dat je het zelf op het strand regelt. Onze regendouche deed het niet, alleen de kleine hand douche.

• Ilia (10/5): Роскошный спокойный отдых - Отличный завтрак и в целом ресторан. Приветливый персонал, многие вещи делаются до того как ты об этом попросишь (например, каждый раз когда мы только шли к бассейну - сотрудник уже сам бежал расстилать лежаки и полотенца). Шикарный теплый большой бассейн, ухоженная территория, стерильно чисто. Отель не на первой линии и в отдалении от главных улиц, поэтому для спокойного отдыха подходит идеально. Единственным замечанием может быть музыка возле бассейна, лучше поменять на что-то более подходящее тропикам и пляжу, чем жесткая долбежка. Но так было не всегда, поэтому за большой минус считать нельзя.

• Bjoern (8/5): Good for a short stay in Trinco - It’s a good spot for a short time relaxing in Trinco. The location is good, just some minutes walk to the beach and the centre. The pool is nice. In total we wouldn’t say that this is a five star. The hotel looks older from some sides and the lobby with the reception and the restaurant seem old and cold. The breakfast was bad in our eyes. The prices for food and drinks are high in relation to other hotels. For food we went to all the local restaurants in Trinco.
• Florine (10/5): Top verblijf in Trincomalee - Wat een heerlijke kamer met een geweldig groot bubbelbad. Hele lieve mensen, fijn zwembad, goede locatie op 5 min lopen van Fernandos market waar je veel opties hebt. Ontbijt was ook lekker. Lieve verrassing voor onze huwelijksreis. Super lieve mensen in het hele hotel en goede beveiliging we voelden ons heel erg welkom. Dankjewel!❤️ De muziek bij de bar aan het einde van de dag kon soms wat meer geschikt zijn voor yoga nidra dan voor een lekker biertje aan de bar. Het personeel vond het echter geen probleem om iets anders op te zetten toen we het vroegen. Bedankt❤️
• Warren (7/5): Good if you don’t book a standard room. - The room was very good ..eventually (see below). We like the location on the peaceful river a few mins walk from the beach. The staff were helpful and the food was pretty good and not overpriced. We booked a standard room but when we arrived we saw that this room was ground floor with a balcony the opened onto the car park and a window that looked out in reception. It was awful. However, after sharing our thoughts with the staff they upgraded us for free to a great room. They had offered us an upgrade (at extra cost) when we arrived so perhaps they expected our reaction to this room!! There is a dog kept locked up on the premises which barks loudly a lot and drags the atmosphere down to that of a typical Sri Lankan Homestay.

• Beckmann (10/5): Das Personal ist einfach unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben zur Abreise noch etwas zu essen mitbekommen. D - Die Zimmer sind einfach so schön und unglaublich groß. Wir waren im 3. Stock mit Blick auf die Lagune und den Pool. An sich gibt es nichts zu bemängeln, aber das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Dies muss jedoch jeder für sich selbst entscheiden.
• Dave (10/5): Heerlijk luxe en ontspannend. - Kamer was super. Ruim, luxe met een fantastisch uitzicht vanuit de jacuzzi. En toch privacy. Top. Personeel ook top. Eten is goed. Eigenlijk beviel alles maar we hebben wel twee tips die ook niets kosten om te verbeteren. Laat bereid eten niet staan. Zowel de roomservice als lunch was bijna koud bij serveren. Wij zagen de lunch gewoon staan op de bar maar deze werd niet geserveerd voordat wij deze zelf wilden pakken. En de muziek bij het zwembad is op zich prima maar het zijn steeds vijf dezelfde nummers. Dat kan toch simpel anders? Hetzelfde voor het restaurant. Hetzelfde ook nog vrij korte deuntje elke dag bij ontbijt en diner dat constant wordt gehaald wordt op bepaald moment echt vervelend. Wij waren verder heel tevreden. Pak deze twee punten ook op en het is perfect.

• Léa (10/5): Super - Nous avons passé un super séjour dans cet hôtel. Le personnel est super sympa, et l’hôtel donne sur la baie, d’où on peut voir pas mal d’animaux. De plus, l’emplacement était top car il est proche des nombreuses excursions que l’on peut faire à Trincomalee (snorkelling, dauphins…) Je recommande !
