Guest Reviews
- Rudi (2/5): - The outside is well kept and beautifully Beds uncomfortable. Inside not clean. Lots of spiders webs and the white walls are stained brown. 4th time I stayed there and the place is starting to fall apart. On arrival wanted to overcharge me with price between bookings.com price and what they charge. It is a pity I loved the place. Love the workers and the owners
- David (3/5): Very disappointed in the unclean bedroom full of dust and dirt. - Damp towels
Damp bedding
Unclean tiles, washbasin
Brown watet Ensure bedding and towels are not damp.
Tiles in the bathroom and washbasin stained brown.
Overall dusting a cleanliness required in the room.
- Juliana (6/5): - It is set in beautiful surroundings There was no hot water and we had to remind twice before it was put on.. Breakfast was also slow and no explanation even though we were the only ones there at the time
- Delplanque (9/5): Chalet agréables en pleine nature - Chambres très spacieuses logées dans un écrin de verdure.
Restaurant et bar disponible sur place.
Nous y avons passé un bon séjour.
- Constanse Mjeldheim (10/5): Great, green and spacious stay in Lilongwe - Really lovely and spacious lodges. Great food and super friendly staff. Great value and cool location Nothing. All good
- Jenna (8/5): Good - I previously read reviews saying the mosquito nets were too small but they have been replaced by bigger ones and it is all good. Restaurant could offer vegetarian options when i was there. I had "hot" water in the shower a bit after 7AM. Breakfast was good. Restaurant stops taking orders at 8pm. They could arrange airport transport for me for 66.000 (the amount I had left in local currency). Coffee available in the room. Mosquito net is efficient but looks dirty on top.
- Justine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Janet (9/5): Superb - Basically clean and comfortable for a good price. Food was good. One of the light bulbs in the room was really dim, making it difficult to see. I traveled with a friend, so it would have been nicer to have 2 twin sized beds; however, the couch was really comfortable.
- Rudi (8/5): Very good -
- Pieter (7/5): Good for start in Malawi - Kindly staff and quiet location Manager owner totally not interested in customers. We stayed there 4 nights and she even did not welcomed us.
- Rudi (7/5): Good -
- Van (8/5): Perfect stay before and after going to the airport. - Nice, green place with friendly staff
- Cillian (10/5): Absolutely brilliant - Brilliant location just outside of Lilongwe (easy to get a cheap taxi into town/wherever) Rudolph and his team are awesome - go above and beyond during your stay. Would definitely recommend. Nothing
- Orth-moore (9/5): Superb - Absolutely loved the staff!! Such kind, friendly, and attentive staff. Absolutely beautiful grounds with incredible trees and gardens.
- Shelton (6/5): Pleasant -
- Roger (9/5): Superb - The situation in the woodland. You can have breakfast sitting out among the trees watching the birds Nothing
- Judith (6/5): Calm, good for a night on arrival or before departure. - Great large chalet room.
Far from town but that’s what I wanted. Food is not good at all. Coffee is the worst I’ve had in the country - and the tiny cup for 5000.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mattis (9/5): Great place in lush forest park environment to stay for short or long-term. Amazing staff & owners! - Great breakfast included, super friendly and helpful staff and owners. The chalet is situated in a diverse, green and lush forest park, with lots of birds around. Nice walking possibilities to the nearby forests. Well equipped bar and restaurant with everything you might want.
An unexpected plus was the included tea service everyday in the afternoon. Just minor things: The bed could use a new matress soon. It's a bit soft in the middle for my liking. The shower could use a curtain, to avoid setting the bathroom under water.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good - Great staff. Beautiful surroundings A few issues with water supply. There was dirt/debris on bedding when we arrived. Should maybe have been checked prior to check in but understandable that it would occur after room had been cleaned
- Rebecca (6/5): Convinient location - Convenient
Nice food and bar
Nice staff Beds and mosquito nets ( they hang on body and face very claustrophobic and uncomfortable)
Beds tiny in twin rooms and not great for adults or couples
- Rebecca (6/5): Convenient - Convenient and easy
Clean and good size rooms Beds very small and quite uncomfortable for adults nets on beds hang on faces and are uncomfortable so you don’t want to use them
- Ntsako (5/5): Passable -
- Speight (8/5): Very good -
- Maseko (8/5): Very good - The location and the surrounding and the good food and beers The old stained bathrooms and showers
- Frederike (1/5): Horrible! - Signage to get there - loud music until early morning, lots of people shouting
- really terrible bed
- not flexible owner
- grumpy staff welcoming us
- Adrian (8/5): Very good - We stayed at Barefoot for 2 nights in the chalets. Property is beautiful but far away from town, expect at least 30 mins drive.
Breakfast was standard.
Rooms could be cleaner.
- Susan (8/5): A comfortable stay. - Convenient location /after crossing the border.
Spacious rooms. Nice gardens and leafy surroundings. No pool.
- Bc123456 (9/5): Superb -
- Admasu (7/5): Good - It was very quite a d green The food was not good and there is only egg and bacon option for breakfast
- Rebecca (8/5): Great value and location. - Great location for our travels
Great staff
Good food
Brilliant value Mosquito nets aren't over beds well, so I couldn't use them as they would touch face and pillows
As they are single beds, they were cold with small bed duvet and only 1 blanket between two people for the time of year where temperature drops it would be good to have a blanket on each bed
- Anonymous (5/5): Fine for low budget , ac will help for the cold night. - scenery no ac, mattress was worn down. No wfi in room.No bed lamps. Miskito net was useless.
- Rūta (6/5): If cleanliness is not an issue you may consider staying. - The lodge was conveniently nearby Lilongwe. We just needed a night on a road from Zambia to Lake Malawi. My main complaint is the dirty rooms. I totally understand basic furnishings, however I was not impressed with the cleanliness. How hard it is clean windowsills ot toilet seats from dust just before the guests arrive? Also, there was no hot water in shower and lots of spiderwebs crossing pathways around the property. It could have been an easy fix. Unfortunately I would not feel comfortable recommending the place to others.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (7/5): Good -
- Kroll (8/5): Very good - Food in general was pretty great at a decent price square frames for the mosquito nets would be a great improvement
- Noel (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bertie (9/5): Superb - South african food, peace and quiet Add fridges and solar to rooms
- Leandri (9/5): The owners are super friendly & helpful, the locals were amazing! - I loved everything about this place! The power is a big problem.
- Gregory (8/5): Very good -
- Vitaliy (8/5): Calm and relaxing stay - Nice idyllic surroundings with greenery, good water pressure (hot), kettle in the room is handy. I had chicken tikka masala for dinner and somewhat unexpectedly it was very good! I was continuing to Zambia, so was convenient to catch a mini-bus towards the border It is located out of town, so if you don’t have own transport - 20min walk to the main road to catch a mini-bus or 10-15eur taxi (40eur from the airport). Frequent power cuts are common in Malawi, but they give you a powerful torch.
- Marietha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nils Anders (4/5): - The information about distance to city center was absolutely false, it is NOT 3km to town but 18km.
And the pictures of the room I booked for that price wasn’t accurate, I was initially placed in a dorm despite booking a single bed room.
