- Helen (9/5): - The hotel is charming decorated to an original classic high standard with lovely touches such a fire constantly on in the reception and homemade flapjack in the room. What really sets this hotel apart is the wonderful friendly attentive but not overbearing staff. The bathroom was tight it was quite difficult to access the shower.
- Barbara (9/5): -
- Janet (10/5): A perfect treat in a beautiful hotel in a perfect place - A beautiful hotel, a lovely room (14), lots of little touches like the jar of flapjack, fresh milk in the little fridge in the room
As a person in her own, I felt very comfortable at all times
- caroline (9/5): - Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Paul (4/5): Disappointed - Lounge and bar were comfortable
Setting stunning
Easy to park Staff were almost rude
They rang the day before to confirm
We had booked and paid ??
Was we going to turn up..did we want to eat!
I told them it was our wedding anniversary..
The room was on the small side.
Didn’t even tell us bout hotel facilities
Apparently the spar was fully booked..
We were disappointed..
- Stuart (10/5): First class staff and outstanding location - Beautiful location
- Thomas (6/5): Some very talented people , and too many with the L plates on - inconsistent training in evidence. - Location and helpfulness of reception team : we gave them a logistics challenge and they more than met it. Thank you. Very poor staff in breakfast - a 20 min power cut clearly threw the entire team - once power was restored it took 75 mins for breakfast to appear. Wrong orders on 3 items and no table clearing of any items - clearly a team in training , but poor experience for the price frankly.

- Elizabeth (9/5): - really warm and cosy, very welcoming with log fires. lovely breakfast and evening meal in the brasserie. nice little touches in the room- water, fresh milk and flapjacks 😊. the pool is tiny, can't swim in it.
- Roger (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): Overall love the place - Location was superb Sunday roast dinner was cold
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Ramez (9/5): Good stay & lovely rooms near Bolton Abbey - Nice spacious rooms, great location and friendly staff and good parking. Service at the restaurant could do with more attention to hotel guests.

- PAUL (9/5): Great, peaceful weekend away - Relaxed & peaceful. Professional, attentive staff. Wonderful location. Great breakfast, exceptional coffee (& thankfully no buffet!). Fabulous walking from the hotel. 'Cosy' room was just that (though possibly a little too cosy!). That said meant we spent moretime in the capacious, comfortable lounges!
- Miriam (9/5): Fantastic - The staff are so lovely. Everyone was so kind and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and the little touches like fresh milk for our cups of tea were really appreciated. My hubby’s guide dog particularly appreciated the large amount of dog treats left for him.
The location is fabulous with beautiful accessible walks on the Bolton Abbey estate. We will certainly be returning. The spa pool is a little bit cool for a spa pool. Feels warm when you get in but I got out feeling quite chilled.
- Julie (8/5): Getaway spa relax with a friend - The decor throughout the hotel was amazing. The view and comfy twin beds. The location was stunning. The spa and the food in the hotel. The toiletries in the bathroom were top-notch. The drinks and fresh milk in the fridge. Some difficulty getting in and out of the shower. Window sills need a repaint. Would of liked a safe.
- Stefano (9/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): -
- Jonathan (7/5): Comfortable stay in nice surroundings - Great location for walks to the Abbey and Strid Wood. Really good breakfast. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Room was close to reception which was noisy in the morning.
Brasserie restaurant ambience was odd and food only ok especially for the price.
Spa facilities nice and great to be included in room rate but chlorine levels in pool meant my partners eyes were streaming and had to leave.
- Tina (10/5): Relaxing peaceful and beautiful - I love this hotel it’s so relaxing with beautiful scenery. The staff are wonderful so friendly and helpful ! Food incredible ! Walk around Bolton Abbey amazing ! Devonshire spa so lovely ! The only negatives were the bed head in our room had faded quite a bit and there were a few bits that the dog found under bedside table so not cleaned 100 per cent ! We didn’t like the wall paper in the Brasserie .
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Ann (10/5): I spent my birthday at the Devonshire Arms with 9 of my dearest friends and I couldn’t have asked for more care, attentio - The beautiful entrance with the fire burning in the hallway just lovely! This hotel is relaxed from the moment you enter polite and caring staff dog friendly too!
- Colm (8/5): A beautiful hotel in a great location, with great access to beautiful walks on the estate and along the Wharfe. - A very relaxing atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. The open fire at the entrance provided a very welcoming start to our stay.
- Gordon (10/5): A fantastic mini-break in a beautiful hotel with glorious grounds, friendly staff and wonderful food - Quality of food was very good. Staff were super friendly, polite and efficient. We enjoyed the setting and the peaceful nature of the hotel. Loved having all the fires lit and cozy corners to sit in (especially the dog room). The Spa and the Spa manager was excellent. The gentleman on reception when we checked in and checked out was very efficient and helpful. Minor point, but maybe some areas were a little bit dated although we could see things were being done to improve.
- Sophie (7/5): Great location, restaurant needs improvement - Location is great for walking The restaurant wasn’t amazing, staff not trained properly and it’s dropped off at the end of hotel. We ordered a chateaubriand for our first year anniversary dinner and it wasn’t anything special. Would be better in the breakfast areas as it’s more cosy and would suit evening meals better. Also very casual, not what we were expecting.
- Susan (7/5): Great location, especially for walkers and dogs owners, but not value for money - The location and the look of the property were lovely. The breakfast was not great in terms of execution. Looked better than tasted. Staff very attentive but forgot items.
- Ged (10/5): This is an exceptional Hotel, which never fails to provide the best in Accomodation, Food, Staff and General Service. - This is an exceptional Hotel, which never fails to provide the best in Accomodation, Food, Staff and General Service. N/A
- Julie (10/5): Relaxed rural luxury . - Beautiful location and buildings . Very comfortable rural vibe . Super dog friendly . Outstanding staff . The gym / spa needs better female showers
- Arabella (10/5): We loved our stay so much and would love to return.. - Breakfast was delicious and a treat to be able to mix and match what we ate. The sausages were particularly good. Lovely room to eat in.
Exceptional service at reception - the gentleman who looked after us (sorry for not remembering his name!) helped us plug in our electric car and we charged overnight for FREE - what a great service! And when I left my watch in the spa he went and got it and brought it to our room.
Amazing walk to the Abbey at dusk. Very cosy in our rooms - nice touch giving us free flapjacks. Loved the Yorkshire tea bags. Dinner was good but a bit cold and quite small portions. Quite a soul-less dining room, not very cosy or atmospheric. Disappointed to see calories on the menu as I was with my daughter who has an eating disorder so choosing food instantly becomes challenging.
- Shreya (9/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Gareth (8/5): A lovely, relaxing break, not far from home. - The location and views. The attentiveness of some of the staff. The food - we had our evening meal in the Brasserie, then breakfast in the Garden Room. The ambience of the whole place. The spa facilities. Nothing to add here.
- Standing (10/5): -
- Ian geoffrey (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- David (9/5): Can’t say much more than above! We were there for a family wedding and everything was great. - What a wonderful location!
Room very comfortable and staff very friendly
Service for both dinner and breakfast excellent, perhaps slightly slower than some, but really friendly and attentive.
Overall highly commended. Nothing. I guess parking could be a little problematic but we didn’t have a problem.
- Neill (10/5): We stayed for a wedding and had a great weekend. Breakfast was amazing! - Location, food, friendly staff
- Catherine (10/5): - The staff. The comfort. The bed. The log fires. The spa. The food. The welcome. The location. The walks. Nothing. It was amazing
- Kenneth (5/5): A nice hotel let down by indifferent food. - Nice atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good wine list at reasonable prices. Disappointing food.
- emma (10/5): -
- Diane (6/5): This is by no means a four star hotel and I think it is overpriced. - Food at dinner was good. Service from the barman was excellent.
Staff in the spa were very helpful. Waiting 55 minutes for breakfast and then being told the chef was just going to prepare our order. People who arrived after us had all been served.
Interior is very tired and all needs refreshing. There was black mold on all the window frames in our bedroom.
- Antony (8/5): A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay - Beautiful location, good facilities, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food. The room was very small for the price, the bathroom was a closet!
- Pandora (7/5): Rather disappointing for the price - Amazing location. Lovely public rooms. Nice staff. The bedroom was really small. The bathroom was tired and the grouting around the bath had seen better days and didn’t look very clean. Didn’t like the window between the toilet / bathroom and the bedroom. There were shutters but found it a bit bizarre.
- Magdalena (10/5): Wonderful hotel in stunning Bolton Abbey Estate - Wonderful weekend away for the wedding. Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable room, delicious breakfast and dinner at the Brasserie, fantastic bar with Laslo's bespoke coctails. Very attentive and kind staff. All of that in the stunning Yorkshire Dales setting. I would definitely recommend and can't wait to stay there again.
- Rosanna (10/5): - The attention to detail is so lovely. Everyone was really helpful and we enjoyed the food, the surroundings and the spa.
A really beautiful getaway. The female members of staff had to put up with a pretty misogynistic guest while we were there (which we witnessed at breakfast) and they kept their cool and handled his rudeness with grace and patience. A lot of friendly professionals work here and you can see they put love into their work!
- Heather (10/5): - .
- Hannah (10/5): - Wonderful stay, will definitely return. Thank you.
- Graham (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, in a wonderful setting with great food and wine.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Julie (8/5): A very good hotel wuth lovely sraffcand good service - Lovely room No longer a Michelin star restaurant. More casual now which we didn’t realise when we booked.
- Ashley (8/5): - Great stay and love the spa after a fantastic walk on the estate. Food was good but not as good as our previous visit. Reception staff were excellent but gave up on the cocktail lounge as no one seemed to be available to serve us: didn't spoil our stay but would have been nice. Room fantastic as always.
- Philip (10/5): Great Spa holiday - Great Spa and the breakfast was excellent. Very comfortable bed. Nothing to complain about
- derry (7/5): Bedrooms look tired. - The staff, food & location were excellent. For the price you expect the bedroom to be special. Mine looked tired, black mould in the bathroom, paintwork shabby, and stains on the carpet. Many other hotels offer far better rooms and for less money.
- jonathan (8/5): -
- Lynn (6/5): Lovely wedding - Gentleman looking after the wedding room and drinks was fantastic No aircon and brides room was very very HOT and out bedroom was uncomfortable it was so hot
- Jacqueline (8/5): Peaceful surroundings for a stop over in the Dales - Really lovely room in very peaceful surroundings, good food both evening meal and breakfast. Confusion reigned about the bill. This was sorted out, but only because we were quite clear that the room had been paid for in advance. Had my husband gone alone to pay, we would have ended up paying for the room twice.
- Kevan (9/5): - Lovely location, very peaceful Nothing
- Gemma (7/5): Nice for a 1 night stay. - The location being close to our wedding venue I feel like it’s due a renovation. Parts of the hotel are quite dated.
- NEIL (7/5): Lovely location - Beautiful location, fresh air and peaceful. Food was very good in the hotel. Room was quiet. Staff team are pleasant. Clean. Shower difficult to get into due to bath and really small bathroom.linen is tired on bed.
- Milner (9/5): Stayed before and will stay again - Good food and service Everything was fine
- Richard (10/5): -
- jason (9/5): Amazing location with lovely food . - Breakfast was really good with many menu options to choose from . Evening Meals in the Brasserie were superb and would highly recommend. Furnishing in the bedroom we stayed in were a little tired , with holes in the arms of the chairs and not really expected at the price we paid .
- Imogen (9/5): We travelled all day and turned up to walk in the parkland, drink on the terrace and dine in the brasserie with the most - Outstanding location. Organised and charming staff with first class dinner in the brasserie Slightly slow service at breakfast
- Jane (6/5): Beautiful hotel spoilt by so many dogs. I would not return because of this. - Beautiful building and grounds
Fabulous location
Friendly staff DOGS! everywhere including the restaurant.
Expensive when you have to share your dining experience with animals around you.
- Traynor (10/5): -
- George (10/5): On that trip we stayed at several 5 star hotels. Bolton Abbey was our clear favourite - Room was very comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Grounds and hotel were really beautiful. Loved everything
- Alison (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay in The Yorkshire Dales. - The rooms were very luxurious and comfy. Quiet location. Beautiful views from the windows across The Dales. The staff were friendly and helpful. Ample car parking. Good dining options and breakfast was delicious, especially the porridge with whiskey. Lots of character and history. Lovely walk from the hotel to Bolton Abbey along the river.
There is a spa but we didn’t use it. Nothing.
- Jackie (7/5): Beautiful location - Its location and staff were very good. Could do with a deep clean
- Susan (8/5): Lovely hotel and nice spa for a Yorkshire dales weekend! - Great location for walking, warm Yorkshire welcome. Great breakfast with loads of options. The sharing platters in the garden room are a nice idea. Good wine list. It’s a bit lacking in atmosphere somehow - in the main hotel rather than the Brasserie.
- Janet (9/5): -
- Jeff (8/5): Great location and a Class act to explore the Yorshire Dales - Great breakfast and good value. Super location! We wish that the fine dining restaurant had still been open. No real beer in the cocktail bar. No real bar in the Brasserie.
- JOHN (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Home from home. Rob on reception is so kind and helpful. Didn’t get to find out the names of the other staff but everybo - It’s unique it’s comfortable. It’s incredibly quiet. The staff were all very sweet, very kind and very helpful. Gardens are beautiful nicely maintained. Can’t honestly think of anything we didn’t like.
- Harold (10/5): -
- Stuart (10/5): -
- Mike (10/5): -
- Mike (10/5): - Swimming
- Carrick (10/5): Probably the best hotel I've stayed in - The breakfast was excellent and the hotel is in a lovely situation. The paintings in the lounge were a feature
- Cassie (10/5): - The staff was amazing as were the grounds and amenities. We had a lovely stay and hope to return.
- Peter (10/5): - We had a wonderful 35th wedding anniversary weekend at The Devonshire Arms Hotel. The staff were fantastic in the hotel and at the Spa, always polite, welcoming and professional. The room was lovely and we much appreciated the kind gift and card to start our anniversary weekend celebrations. We had a delicious three course evening meal in the Brasserie. The Spa was perfect for us both and we used it quite extensively during our stay. The walk along the river from the hotel to Bolton Abbey and through the woods to The Cavendish Pavilion made our weekend.
- Imogen (10/5): Lovely hotel and grounds, very comfortable, enjoyable visit - Beautiful large well appointed peaceful room Nothing
- Kate (10/5): - Beautiful hotel! Amazing staff too
