Ivan (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel. - A beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Both breakfast and evening meal were of a very high standard. You entered a code to raise the barrier upon leaving. We did have trouble with this but think it was just down to our age.

Andrew (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable stay. - Nice room of a good size. Good was excellent and well cooked. Bedroom was hot could do with fans in room if no air con. Also I have sleep apnea and it would be good to have a socket by the bed.

The bedrooms are spacious if a little dark but the buildings have a ‘stately home’ charm. The breakfast was excellent. Nothing except the bed was possibly a bit old.

The poached eggs were done to perfection every time and the eggs royale were fantastic. Beds a little hard but still slept relatively well. The cold continental selection at breakfast could have been replenished as croissants were sparse by 9.30.

The mattress was also old and uncomfortable. When I reported this to reception I got a platitude but no action or apology!

The bed was a bit too firm for my liking, it would be better with a topper. The walls were quite thin and we were woken by noisy neighbouring guests.

Nothing apart from as I was last in for breakfast at 9.15am the bacon had obviously been cooked already and kept warm despite ordering from a menu and you couldnt eat it as it was rock hard and it was one tiny piece .
