- Garry (6/5): - The shower was all black fungus at the corners and plastic trim on shower door was horrible dirty the breakfast was good but cooked breakfast should be cooked on order not on hot plates to be fair for a 5 star for breakfast have had a lot better to be fair and the way it’s set out too small for the size of place and the mount of people having breakfast
- Enya (10/5): - The room was very nice and clean! We were upgraded which was so lovely of the hotel which was another reason for us to want to return. The spa facilities were perfect, made us feel very zen and ready for the day ahead. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice of both hot and cold food and nice that you could just help yourself. Thank you for the perfect stay!
- Peter (10/5): - We have stayed here a couple of times staff always friendly the walk into Bowness on Windermere is lest than 10 minutes walk where there are pub restaurants and shops. And you can take a boat trip on Windermere itself which i recommend to do we will be stopping there again.

- Sarah (6/5): - Firstly I would like to note how friendly & helpful the staff are. I would also like to highlight how clean the hotel & facilities are. However there are several aspects that I think prospective visitors need to be aware of before booking. The spa had a very strange vibe, it felt like an environment to encourage drinking alcohol as there was a bar in the spa rather than feeling like a relaxing environment. It was incredibly dark & a strange set up having to walk through the hotel car park to get to the pub where you then had to walk through in your robe & slippers whilst other visitors were sat eating.

- Yvonne (6/5): Good but could have been better - The spa was nice and relaxing albeit quite small. The staff were very professional and friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our room was very cold, the heating didn't seem to be on, even though the radiators were. And also the water was luke warm, with random seconds of scolding water. When we checked out there was other rooms with the same issue, and we were refunded our £12 parking, which seemed almost insulting given we had spent over £500 with them. And to top it off, the weather was horrendous and used the hot tub for 20 minutes and then had to come back to a cold room and a cold shower, but I appreciate that the weather wasn't the fault of the hotel

- Hayley (8/5): A lovely Stay - We had a superior room which needs updating as a bit tired - needs coffee machine (who drinks instant from a packet today) Shower not powerful and very poor lighting. However the view of the lake was just lovely to see last thing at night and first thing in the morning.The food was incredible especially the asian restaurant. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Didn't rate the spa but a nice added extra for those who like it. Location is perfect so close to the centre.
- Emma (10/5): We cannot wait to return. - We visited on Sunday 21st September and fell in love with this hotel. We are already planning out next visit. We were greeted by name when we drove up to the gate, so to the 5* service had already begun. There is plenty of parking on site. The entrance and reception area are beautiful. Alicia attended to us straight away and we had been offered an upgrade for my partner Birthday and also some complimentary prosecco. We were upgraded from a Double to a Double or Cosy Double with a Hot Tub. We were so grateful. We were shown to our room 232, which had a HUGE bed and TV. It also had a Hot Tub. (We sat in the hot tub in the morning with the sun beaming down on our faces). Alicia showed us around the hotel and to the restaurants, the breakfast room etc. Her Customer Service was definitely 5*. We decided to eat dinner in the pub before going to the spa for an evening session. The food was very tasty there. The spa was a great size and had plenty of seating.Although the sauna is small, we used it 3x without anybody else coming in. Breakfast offered a large array different foods from cheeses and meats to pastries/ toast and cooked breakfast. We had fruit, cooked breakfast and a blueberry muffin for later and it was all delicious. The hotel is also very beautiful and well kept.

- Lisa (10/5): Anniversary 2 night stay - We had a wonderful 2 days celebrating our anniversary here. We were greeted by Lauren who checked us in and offered us a glass of fizz before showing us round the hotel and to our room. The room was perfect with the hot tub on the balcony an extra indulgence. Very clean with Elemis toiletries for us to use. We ate in the cocktail bar/restaurant on our first evening and had the tapas which was delicious. Konrad in the bar was very attentive and made us the perfect cocktails. We ventured into the spa during our visit which was very relaxing - we didn’t have any treatments but did see that they were reasonably priced. All the staff here couldn’t do enough for us and when we asked for advice on where to go for live music, Lesley found places for us and offered us a lift into Bowness in the Bentley with more local information given from Mark who drove us in. We absolutely loved the hotel and our stay and will be back next year to celebrate another years anniversary!!

The spa is more like a leisure club and is very small. Overall underwhelming but it is included in the stay, which is handy. The check in was fine and staff were helpful. Walkable and the location is amazing. Breakfast was lovely too.

The room was unclean (marked bedding with hair and rose petals from previous guests, mouldy shower, cobwebs on the ceiling, dusty fixtures). The room was also hot with no air conditioning and very poor soundproofing. When I complained afterwards with photos, the response was dismissive. Instead of a proper redress, I was offered a discount on a future stay. Expedia had to step-in to provide compensation. Importantly, the hotel has self-rated its own five-star rating– and it shows. This was nowhere near genuine five-star standard.

- Darren (10/5): Bank holiday get away - last minute decision to go to the lakes on the final bank holiday weekend and booked Lakes hotel.I have been here on at least a dozen occasions and its my first choice everytime.Upon arrival,i was offered a glass of prosecco and check in was very quick.I was then shown to my room and case carried by Mark who explained how the hot tub worked and various other items in the lovely room.Enjoyed the spa facilities then had dinner in Mizoni fusion restaurant and the food was amazing.Then finished the evening in the hot tub on the balcony of the room.Check out the next morning was 11am but we were allowed to use the spa facilities and car park until 1pm which was great. The staff are fantastic,the hotel second to none,food brilliant and the spa facilities are the best in Bowness in my opinion.Location is brilliant too,a couple of minutes walk from Bowness bay. Cant wait to go back again soon.

- Ben (10/5): Absolutely loved it! - You really do pay for what you get. All of the staff from reception, bar staff and waiting on staff were extremely attentive, polite and professional. The hotel has a premium price tag yet everything there from side tables, lamps and mirrors are all premium. The decor is respectful to the original building yet they have also managed to make the hotel new. We drank in the bar, we ate in the restaurant, used the spa and booked treatments - it was exceptional. We arrived home today and plan on booking this hotel for over Christmas. We loved it!

Cosy small double room was also modern and comfy, and a good size. Complimentary Elemis toiletries in bathroom too. We ate at the restaurant onsite which was very enjoyable.

Breakfast good but you have to be clear with the breakfast staff to avoid confusion.

- Verified traveler (6/5): It’s ok - Our stay was ok. It was a lovely hotel with fantastic customer service but we were disappointed with the Spa being open to kids and quite a lot at the same time. Kids were playing in the plunge pool and hot tubs which made it difficult to relax and ruined our stay as we were only allowed to use the facilitates the same time as kids. This became an issue in the changing rooms too as the locker area is very small. We probably wouldn’t revisit and I’d definitely opt for kid-free spa’s now.

My only complaint would be there was no smoking allowed on the bar terrace, they had fires in the table and amazing cocktails but not a smoking area, I'd have spent £100s and hours on that terrace but instead we stayed for one and left into town. They offer food so I can understand why but there should have been a smoking area.

The only downsides were that a gym is advertised on the hotel listing which there isn’t one & we both paid £90 for a full body massage and after asking for firm pressure it was more on the softer side.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and we were pleasantly surprised with the upgrade to a room with a hot tub – a lovely touch that really made our stay feel special. The room itself was spot on – clean, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing. We also had dinner at Mizumi, which was a real highlight. The food was excellent and full of flavour – we especially liked the sharing plates. Overall, we’d rate our stay a solid 10/10. We’ will definitely be back again in the near future.
- Daniel (4/5): - We had a very disappointing stay at the lakes hotel and spa. Our first impression of the hotel was arriving Friday evening and having a relaxing spa at the end of our journey. What we arrived to was a unlit dark and seedy room with empty alcohol glasses all over the tables and 7 couples being intimate in the pool. Whilst I can't blame the hotel for the guests behaviour, it's important for prospective guests to be aware of the vibes of the place. We left the spa immediately and it was a similar experience when we tried again on Saturday late afternoon. The mix of alcohol and no natural light was an unpleasant one. The room was nice, spacious and clean but the location doesn't really lend itself well to exploring the lake district (this was my mistake in booking accommodation in the area). The breakfast was satisfactory. I can understand the parking charges which are clear and upfront as there is limited capacity but it felt like a kick in the teeth after an already expensive weekend.
