Guest Reviews
- Curtis (7/5): Too expensive for what you get - Nice location Very run down and not clean
- Sarah (8/5): Great for one night stay. Beautiful views and very comfortable - Super comfy bed, bathroom nicely updated.
Amazing view over hanmer village! đ Could hear everyone in neighbouring rooms. Very close proximity.
- Katharina (7/5): Lovely stay with minor improvements - Lovely view from the window and balcony, comfortable bed, options for sky TV, nearby car park. We stayed one night, and while we still had a restful stay, the arrival experience was not as smooth as expected for the price. We received the lockbox code by text, but there was no clear information on room access, amenities, or what was included in the kitchen/bedroom. It would have been helpful to have any arrival details in email in advance or simple card/folder in the bedroom. Also, only one bathrobe was provided for a booking of two people.
- Jodie (9/5): Cosy and comfortable bed and room, great views and location helpful owner - Cosy and comfortable bed and room, great views and location helpful owner We had a very loud talkative neighbour that we could hear through the walls. We put the tv on the second night to drown him out which worked.

- Jenny (9/5): One night is not enough - just being here makes you want to extend your stay - The bed was so comfortable and the view so relaxing.
We had to walk up from the street with our bags but at least there was room on the street to park the ute and car trailer just fine.
- Vanessa (9/5): Comfortable, outstanding views. - The view is outstanding. A comfortable, tidy place to stay in Hanmer Springs. Modern bathroom, and water pressure in the shower was great. Beds comfortable. Couldnât hear the neighbours, unless youâre on the deck. It does feel dark and a bit dated in the common areas, itâs your first impression and wouldnât take much to change, itâs not a deal breaker, the rooms are nice & the view is worth it. No coffee machine on site.

- Grant and Jackie (9/5): - Lovely views over the town & mountains from the room & balcony - easy walk down into town
- Nicola (9/5): Lovely room in a small hotel, but be prepared for a bit of a hike up the hill if eating in the town in the evening - Beautifully decorated room, spacious bathroom and very comfy bed Right next door to neighbours when using the balcony space
- Wanden (9/5): Enjoyable stay on the hill looking out to the mountains - Love the room with the view of the mountains . We arrived early and I rung so they let us early . Loved the shower It was too far to walk to the restaurant for dinner.
- Kelly (9/5): Great place to stay. Extremely comfortable - The privacy. The view Nothing.
- Fiona (8/5): -
- Annefloor (9/5): Heel fijn! - Fijne locatie en mooi kamer met balkon. Er is geen staff bij de locatie aanwezig, maar de staff is goed bereikbaar dus het is geen probleem.
- Lynn (10/5): Felt just like an alpine lodge - beautiful - A beautiful property with amazing views and the guests lounge was an added bonus
Beautifully decorated and the shower was bliss Nothing to dislike !!
The only thing that spoiled our stay was the unfortunate weather which canât be helped
- Brian (8/5): - Great views from the veranda
- Leanne (8/5): - Lovely views. Comfortable bed. Up a large hill to walk back from town. Balcony nice but not completely private.
- Deborah (9/5): The views were stunning! The location super. Sitting on the balcony watching the light play on the mountains! - The views were stunning! The location super. Sitting on the balcony watching the light play on the mountains! Nothing.
- Georgina (7/5): Lovely comfortable stay with amazing views - The bed was big and very comfortable and the view was great. Late checkout was a little bonus. We could hear the conversations and tv from the people in the room either side of us which disturbed the tranquility a little bit
- Hannah (9/5): - Very clean with stunning views. Good facilities with everything you needed. Easy check in Soundproofing between rooms could have been a bit better and only 1 bathrobe provided for 2 people but no major issues. Overall, lovely place to stay đ
- James (8/5): Comfortable bed after a day out exploring and the most perfect view to wake up to. - 8 on Oregon is a compact unit with a balcony and superb view across the village and the valley. The unit does not provide cooking equipment but is perfectly adequate for brewing coffee or tea. The bed is huge and very comfortable. I think you would stay here if you are likely out exploring the area. You can come back in the evening, sit on the deck with a glass of something and take in the view and the stars. Very much recommended. I donât think there is anything you would need to be done better.
- Jane (8/5): Very quiet with beautiful view. - The view is amazing. We have stayed there before but different owners. There was no water - (would have been happy with cold tap water)in the fridge. No decaf coffee. The shower was difficult to work out and there was no shower gel. The view hadnât changed but somehow it lacked the same friendly atmosphere we experienced last time we were there. Think it was privately owned then.
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Astrid (10/5): - Die Aussicht ist episch.
- Nicholas (9/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Pleasurable - View from the room were nice. Wifi password was confusing in the room the capital I looked like a lowercase L.
- Neil and Karen (7/5): Nice enough. The bedroom was so small their was not room to store an open suitcase - Great views. Excellent response to heating issue . Tiny room. Communal lounge.
- Helen (9/5): Lovely place to stay with a view. Cosy well decorated room - a nice change from bare motel rooms. - The location was great - 10 minute walk into town and the restaurants and high on a hill with wonderful views. Bed was very comfy and shower great.
Felt homely. Nothing
- Amanda (8/5): -
- Cathy (9/5): Great stay and highly recommend - Lovely interior very comfortable and cozy. Everything you need is provided including washing machine and dryer. View over car park is a shame for such a beautiful property
- Martin (8/5): -
- SHARON (10/5): Lovely award winning hideaway - This was our best accommodation during our south island stay wish we had booked 2 nights. The bed was beyond comfy and the views from the balcony were lovely đ„°
- Mitchell (9/5): -
- Amanda (7/5): Just ok, not great. - Comfy bed. Mold in the kettle.
Smokers on the balcony meant we couldn't open our door/window.
Only one robe in the wardrobe.
Shower is leaking.
Paper thin walls between rooms.
Now run by Hanmer Holiday Homes so zero personality, lacking any kind of value for money now.
- Ranjana (7/5): Disappointing in some ways. - It overlooked the town and had beautiful view of the mountains. It has modern facilities. There was a lot of difficulty in finding and accessing the room. The bed was small and high and therefore not comfortable. The worst was that no body wash or shampoo was provided either in the bathroom or in the wash basin. One thin strip of soap was there. That was very disappointing as one does not carry soap or body wash in holidays.
- Tony (10/5): stunning views and comfortable - stunning view from room clarence 01
- Sandra (8/5): - The amazing view. The bed was very comfortable The room was rather small and it was not so easy to store our suitcases
- Gerrit (9/5): Verblijf met uitzicht - Prachtige locatie waarbij je vanaf het balkon een heel mooi uitzicht hebt. Kamer was prima, bed comfortabel. Badkamer OK.
- brendon (4/5): -
- Alison (7/5): Very pleasant but over priced given we were there only to sleep one night with no other service - No breakfast was available or offered
View very good. Furnishings etc very good quality.
Maybe a refund for lack of Breakfast could be made Breakfast not available. Room cramped with large furniture. Anyone traveling with large luggage would struggle to move around easily
- Eva (10/5): Excellent all round - Beautifully appointed property with fantastic views.
- Lucia-belle (10/5): -
