Rooms were nice if a bit small, restaurant was quite nice - and the staff was excellent. The room was cute and spacious, comfy bed but overall a little uncomfortable at night-- my allergies were triggered (maybe some mold bc an older building?), cold even with heater which only works at night, very dry, shower was a little dated and worn.

Live music every evening with happy hour in a beautiful courtyard with open fire, lounges and blankets. Our room was gorgeous with a bathtub (which was great at the end of an active day and cold evening) Conveniently located within walking distance to most things.

Rooms were quite small and very very dark (I guess the fact its an old building with small windows meant that that was unavoidable). Down sides were shower was either scalding or cold and continuously fluctuated meaning it was very hard to have a good one, rooms always felt a little dark/damp just due to the lack of air circulating as so few windows and the service at breakfast/at the front desk was very hit and miss. Reception didnt speak good enough English so when there was an issue with check in it took the guy almost half an hour to check us in and then eventually he let us go to the room but then rang about 4 times to try and explain the issue. Really needed better English. In the breakfast room, one day they would be all over you and the next you couldn't get a glass or juice without chasing someone up. Waited 20 mins just for a coffee one day as pots needed refilling and no-one around.

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here & it made it the extra pleasure to visit this amazing City. The cleanliness of the rooms excellent along with the staff & there over & beyond service mixed with the prettiness & Peruvian Classical style of the hotel was grand. Breakfast delicious & so much health variety. We are there most nights & dinner along with the later afternoon Pisco sours sitting by the fire pit listening to the live Jazz was a scrumptious treat. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. The only negative is that the rooms offer little in the way of soundproofing and voices carry down the hallways.

The location is also great - it is only a few blocks from the main plaza and many of the main attractions (Cathedral, Inca Museum). There are lots of great restaurants nearby too. The breakfast buffet was excellent - lots of great food including crepes and omelettes.
- Ria (8/5): Great location - I stayed in cusco 4 days and my stay was excellent. The hotel doesnt look highly appealing from the outside but as you enter it is simply beatiful. The courtyard is rustic and the fire at the center is an artistic addition. The breakfast is full of continental options and was delicious as well. The staff is very helpful! The rooms are clean and cosy. Excellent location in close proximity to the main square where many pick up and drop offs occur. I woyld highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting cusco.
- tatiana (10/5): Beautiful Unique boutique hotel - El Mercado was a great pick - it is a beautiful and well kept boutique hotel, every detail was taken into consideration from the reception up to the rooms, they have a fire pit in the middle of the center garden with throws and free jazzy music every night, creating a unique ambiance for all. great customer service and they even accommodated a breakfast box to go , if your plans include getting out of the hotel before 6am -

- Amy (10/5): Wonderful STAY! - English speaking staff was very helpful and very pleasant. We arrived early morning and they were aware that we were tired. They went to prepare our room right away. They told us where everything is, recommended warmly to rest and go out to eat at their wonderful restaurants. We loved our Limo Bar Restaurant as our first experience which set the expectations. They assisted in the coordination of our tour pickups, put is in the right cab and reminded us they were there for us. Ability to speak a little Spanish will get you a long way here.
