There was no one available when we arrived to check in, no communication to let us know any directions to check in when everyone is gone. There was no phone number or contact to use, property signable was non-existent made worse with nighttime. Little lighting and impossible to see where to go. We left with no resolution.
mary (6/5): What you get is not what is pictured in the ad. - Cottage needs an overhaul. There are newer things like a couch, sinks, bedding, beds yet really old and tired parts like a Naugahyde type chair that has lost much of its covering, stand alone heaters that are scary and kitchen cabinets that have seen better days.

Good location for visiting the Willamette valley trails etc, don't miss the Saltcreek falls about 5 miles away. A bit dark inside, need more lighting?

Brad (9/5): This is a charming place that is rustic, serene, beautiful and has conveniences like yummy food. - The location of the cabins is off by themselves, so there is privacy despite it being a large RV, camping and area used by Pacific Crest Trail hikers. The cabin was super clean, very comfortable, old school yet convenient and well equipped. The food at the Hook and general store were excellent. People were very friendly. I would have loved plastic Adirondack chairs outside, to sit and look out at the lake and/or to take out onto the pier. Otherwise, all was good.

Geneva (1/5): If you want relaxing time with your family and some sort of privacy don’t rent a “cabin” here - Asked for a cabin with privacy and was told to book this one from the front desk 5 months prior. There’s a work shed just steps away from the cabin which people were using the entire weekend and early mornings making loud noises and basically invading our privacy. Could not even step outside our door without men looking inside. Not sure if they work there or own the property but either way it’s rude and inappropriate. People rent cabins to relax and this was NOT relaxing. Second time having a bad experience here … first time we were “upgraded” to a room in what looks like an apartment complex and had loud neighbors partying all night keeping me and the kids up all night. Thought we could have some quiet at this new cabin but apparently they just don’t want people coming here. No privacy! Stop having men working in that shop right outside eagles nest and invading people’s privacy that paid good money to rent a cabin and relax! One guy even had his lawn chair set up looking directly at our door at 7 am! Why?! Also tell people before they check in that the TV does not work! You admitted you knew after we told you!

Donna (10/5): I wished my stay was longer— one night didn’t give me time to fully enjoy the cabin and the lake. - The 1 room cabin was cozy and clean. I loved it. It had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The only challenging thing was to keep the faucets dripping all night in order to keep the pipes from freezing. It’s hard to sleep with a dripping sound going on, especially when you’re in the same room with it.
Danny (1/5): Sucked - It was dangerous. My partner got hurt getting out of car had to leave I safe to walk drive to wet frozen slippery and they did not do anything to help. Ended up not staying ask for refund they said no. The fact they did not care about conditions and would not refund. Should have been better in terms of making access to cabin safe and parking. No kindling for fire, wet wood , cabin was freezing. Had to leave because partner got hurt getting out of car on frozen water ice everywhere.
Madelynn (10/5): Wonderful family vacation - This place was wonderful. The restaurant is closed for the winter. The cabins are great but there is very little privacy. You can hear the person breathing in the next room.

The lake was beautiful and having a dock right there was nice even if we didn’t have a boat. I loved the amenities and welcome for Pacific Crest Trail hikers. Gave the area a nice feel of community.

The worst not safe, danger is shower,HANDLE COMES OFF IN HAND...Ben left that way so long plastic chewed up on part handle goes on....Left that way many times...To cheap to miss a few days to repair it....What does this say about this place. Care more about money!

The cabin its self was too historic and dark inside for our liking and standard of stay. The lighting in the cabin is poor for reading as the interior is very dark. We should have chosen a more modern cabin, but wanted more spacing from bedroom to living room.

Stephanie (8/5): Simple cabin in the woods - This cabin was a nice spot for our stay in the area. We came to ski at Willamette Pass for a couple of days. There was still a lot of snow but the roads and paths were cleared nicely. The cabin itself was average for what it was. The beds weren’t comfortable and the main bedroom bed made a lot of noise. The couch and dining area was simple but comfortable though. The kitchen was also simple but it met our needs for cooking breakfast and supper for a family of 7. Though I know it’s hard to clean rough wood surfaces, the kitchen needed a good deep clean. There was food splatter on the wall and next to the stove. We loved having a fire pit right outside our windows and a beautiful dock on the lake. All-in-all, we would stay here again but I don’t think the price was worth what the cabin is. Maybe winter prices could be discounted because we don’t use any of the summer amenities.

Which we were glad for because there is not much else around the area to eat. They provided plenty of wood and kindling for the wood burning fireplace. It was super cozy. Bed was comfy. We will definitely go again.

Heidi (8/5): - Beautiful setting. Staff were wonderful! Cabin appeared “clean” (surfaces wiped down) but didn’t feel sanitized, and floors had only been swept enough to clean up visible surface debris. There’s a broom in the room, when I swept I filled the dustpan with dirt. Definitely not mopped, other than possibly pushing around a dirty swiffer pad on a dirty floor. The bathroom floor was a bit sticky and smelled like urine. Thankfully we brought extra shoes that we wore inside the entire time and our own towels, so we use their towels on the floor when taking a shower. The overall state was really fantastic. I brought my own cleaning wipes, so I was able to wipe everything down and wash dishes again before we use them.. Please note, I am admittedly more of a germ aware person than what most peeled seem to be these days. If using a seat cover at public bathrooms and paper towels to open the bathroom door when you leave, sounds like you, this information is directed at you. I am not convinced most people would be as observant. lol! For you, everything about your stay will likely be all 5 stars. I would definitely stay again and bring my own linens and cleaning wipes again. No regrets.

Walked down to it every morning and heard the crunch of the snow under my feet. Well stocked store and a tiny kitchen to pick up pizza or whatever they are making. Rebecca (10/5): Loved every second! - A cozy escape! Such a gorgeous place, serene and relaxing. We had a rainy cabin day and loved it. Fabulous shop for any forgotten bits and can borrow dvds for free. There are garden games and a fire pit, you can stroll up the jetty’s and rent a boat. Incredible waterfall nearby called Salt Creek Falls (must visit!). We had a bbq on the deck of our cabin. WiFi didn’t work in the cabins and had to use it at the shop/reception area. Please note check-in ends at 5pm or similar and we didn’t realise so nearly missed it.
Jstlns (9/5): Came to stare at the sun and will return to stare at the view. - The location and view was amazing. Like that there are boat rentals and guides for fishing trips even though we didn't take advantage this time. Just another reason to return. The mattress in our room was a little noisy when we one of us moved. The sink needs to drain better and the awesome gas stove needs to have adjustable temperature or guests will probably burn through more gas than needed.
Laura (10/5): - Shelter Cove is a wonderful resort. Great people, beautiful location, and they have a lot to offer. RV sites, cabins, boats to rent (motorized as well as kayaks, canoes), fishing, hiking, as well as a store with a wide range of items (fishing, food, trinkets, sweaters). It is at a higher elevation so the weather is a bit crisper. The area has beautiful rv sites in the trees and trails along the lake, and it is along the PCT. We rented a boat and stayed in a cabin. The cabins were located on the edge of the lake with a beautiful view. The cabins themselves were "rustic" and had a full (but small) kitchen with all the basics... which was handy as there were not a lot of food options close by beyond what the resort offered. The one we stayed in was for three people with a bunk bed and the cabin was quite small with the kitchen, bathroom, bed and counter all crammed in. There was not a table for all three to eat at, but a counter with two chairs. But as we did not spend much time there except to eat and sleep, it worked for us. Note the "rustic" part. It was not "shiny" inside, and the wood beds and chairs creaked ALOT. But that really was the only complaint. The cabin was otherwise cozy and warm (cool outside). No WIFI at the cabin, but the store had pretty good service available 24 hours. And there was dish tv and a dvd player, so we were not very unplugged. Verizon had some service, Metro PCS none. It was also very dog friendly. Overall, a great experience!
Amanda (10/5): Very cozy for a large group - The lodge was right on the lake, could watch the sunrise from the balcony and overall enjoy the lake views from inside. Loved the large space. Full kitchen, large picnic like dining table, comfy beds. Kayak rental options were a huge bonus. Could have more seating. For a place that sleeps up to 10, there were only two couche. You could hear the neighbors very well. At one point they sneezed, we said bless you, they responded with "thank you"... all through the walls. We had fun sounding neighbors but could be a problem with loud people, or if you want to be loud.
Maida (8/5): Very good - Amazing views of the ocean - managed to see some whales very close to the beach from our balcony. The unit itself could have been a bit more updated.

Phillip (8/5): Lovely location on the lake, cabin very clean and tidy. - Property was clean & tidy right on the lake Asked to up grade to larger cabin as ours wasn’t available at the time of arrival. Price given at reception was higher than booking.com. Asked if booking.com price can be matched it couldn’t. Then mysteriously 15 minutes later the cabin wasn’t available on booking.com. Ended up paying full price for upgrade.

Occupant is responsible for cleaning dishes and emptying trash cans, however this was not stated prior to check-in. Several dishes/utensils were dirty. The coffee maker was dirty. Use at own risk. Rodents were busy at night between ceiling and roof.

Elizabeth (6/5): Wish we were more prepared. - We stayed here overnight on our road trip. I specifically chose Shelter Cove because it seemed like a perfect mix of nature/camping along with having food amenities on site. Because we were on a road trip, we did not have food packed, and were a bit disappointed with the lack of options at the general store, and the hours of the restaurant on site. Fortunately, we checked in on time to grab dinner, but when we left at 9am, the restaurant still was not open - we had planned to have breakfast and coffee before taking off. We were told breakfast opened at 7am, and unfortunately there is nothing near the resort to pick up. The cabin is so cute, the views were amazing, and we absolutely would have loved this stay if we were more prepared, but I felt that the website, and hotels.com web descriptions were inaccurate and so we didn’t know that we needed to prepare more for the one night stay. My advice to anyone doing a stopover - Bring food to cook, and you’ll probably love this place.
