Arthur (10/5): Wren Cottage - Perfect stay. Yummy breakfast. Wonderful people! We were in town for a conference and a one day get away. Stayed in the Wren Cottage, beautifully decorated and very cozy comfortable. I didn't like that we couldn't stay longer. No fault of Silver Heart Inn.

The cottage truly felt like "heaven on earth," providing a perfect and peaceful atmosphere. The hospitality and consideration shown by the host were beyond words, and the "breakfast baggies" were a delightful highlight compliments to the host/chef! Nothing at all—the stay was perfect.
The Vagabonds (9/5): A terrific stay in a vintage inn. - It was a wonderful bed and breakfast in a vintage home. The host was amazingly friendly, but let us have our privacy. It was a great value and a good location. We would love to go back again and use the hot tub and spend more time at the end. I really can't think of anything I didn't like.

The only downside was the continuous traffic on S. Noland which was right outside where our bedroom was located. He did provide a sound machine and earplugs to put a barrier on the traffic sound.

Edwards (10/5): Gem in Independence - From the moment I arrived, I felt less like guests and more like old friends. Charles has created such a welcoming sanctuary here. The attention to detail is incredible especially each homemade food at breakfast that I’m still thinking about. If you’re looking for a stay that feels personal and genuine, this is the place! If you need to hit the reset button, look no further. This spot is a hidden gem. Our room was impeccably clean and offered the perfect blend of comfort and charm. You can tell Charles truly care about his guests' experience. I will definitely be back! I cannot recommend this B&B enough. The hospitality here is truly second to none. Because I had to head out for work each morning before the official breakfast time, Charles went out of his way to prepare a breakfast 'to-go' bag for me every single day. It’s rare to find a place that anticipates your needs like that. It made my busy work week so much smoother and more enjoyable

Leah (10/5): Beautiful bed and breakfast for a fair price! - We were only there for one night so I can’t comment on too much, but the room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The host took the time to walk us around the property and get us checked in even after typical hours. Also, the included breakfast was very good and was freshly cooked. Highly recommended! It was a little bit hard to navigate there since we arrived at night and my navigation was taking us around in circles but once we found the property it had ample parking and was easy enough to get into. The room was nice, but we were connected to another guests room by a small entryway and all the doors (including the door to our room) had large gaps to the hallway and the attached room, which overall took away the feeling of privacy.

The breakfast was fantastic, quiche, sour dough bread and fruit with yogurt. Great coffee. Again, Charles was the perfect host and catered to any need. Gave us a great recommendation for supper. Alan (10/5): Romantic, charming, and relaxing! - The home is absolutely beautiful, the library, parlor, breakfast and guest rooms are fantastic. The home has so much ornate detail that it is hard to see it all. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast is outstanding as well! Charles makes you feel like part of the family and Kat is so kind to everyone. If you are in the area, this is the place to stay. You can not beat the hospitality here!

We were amazed at the hospitality, as it was just as good if not better than most 5 star resorts we have stayed in previously! The mornings we were met with the most exquisite breakfast, that rivals anything I have ever had. The home was a beautiful fusion of 1800s, 1940s, and 1960s decor that flowed seamlessly throughout the home. Our host Charles was absolutely amazing, and provided a memorable experience, one that will not be forgotten. This place is truly a gem of Independence/Kansas city area. We cannot wait to come back.

Lori (9/5): My 10th Anniversary at the Cottage. - The host was wonderful! He was polite, friendly, and accommodating. He went out of his way to make certain we were comfortable. The cottage was cute, Could use some updates, but the bed and pillows were comfy. The B&B was beautiful inside with time period pieces. The owner was knowledgeable and interesting as we learned the history of the B&B. We had the romance package added and received the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries (personally prepared by the owner) and rose petals. It was very charming. Although the cottage is sound proof, you can still hear sirens and cars revving and racing their engines all day & night. We felt safe enough going in/out after dark, but it is a very busy street with a lot of sirens, in a crowded neighborhood. The houses were just a few feet apart. I must mention that we never saw one neighbor. The B&B would be much more appreciated if it were in the country somewhere. The only other thing I didn't care for was the hot tub. I thought it would be romantic, but it didn't feel private and cozy. There was a blaring overhead light we couldn't dim or turn off. And I felt like people could see us. The sheers were too sheer. I will say that the provided towels were nice and clean and fluffy!

Jacent (10/5): Overnight staycation in Indep and worth it 100% - My husband surprised me with a night away for just the two of us and he found Silver Heart through a google search. For us this was a staycation. The house is gorgeous, there’s no other word for it. It’s historic and I fell in love with it. The cottages, there are two, were super cute. We stayed in the beach cottage and I loved it. The hot tub was a lovely bonus as was the fire pit. We had unseasonably cool weather for August, so we were able to use the fire pit. The hot tub made me want to buy one for myself. It is secluded in a closed off area in the back of the cottage. The owner was an amazing host. Very personable, warm, and friendly. They were attentive the entire time we stayed. The bed was not comfortable, there was a dip in the center. It’s loud with sirens, but I’m from the city, I grew up with those sounds and I was able to tune them out. I can see, however, that some people might be disturbed. It didn’t take anything away from the experience at all.

Ella (7/5): Quirky and welcoming - This is a very quirky little B and B style accomodation. The host is wonderful and welcoming and there is tea, coffee and lovely homemade biscuits on offer for guests. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was very nice but there is little choice above any dietry issues. Which for most people will not be an issue. Parking is provided and there was no issue with getting a space. The one negative is the the door frames to some of the rooms. The one we stayed in was not complete. It only comes up to the level of the door. So you are left with a very large gap at the top that is open to the landing. So there are issues with sound proofing in both directions. There are internal doors to the bathroom and bedroom that can be shut. However, the room was very small so having to shut them does hem you in quite a bit. It is perhaps where for us quirky departed into wierd. However, we had a one night stay, the bed was comfortable, the water hot and the stay pleasent.

Sandra (6/5): - I called and booked late at night traveling from Colorado to St. Louis Missouri today. The gentleman was very kind and very polite. Very helpful. When I got there, I did not realize it was in a neighborhood. Easy to find with his directions. The cottage was very cute. You park in a parking lot walked down a little boardwalk over rocks. I did not realize that the cottage was so old. When we walked in there was a distinct musky or maybe a water leak or something’s been closed up maybe because of the age of the building. The gentleman when I mentioned it to him, he did offer to come out and take a look. He said he’s not had anyone complain, but this was a very distinct smell and the heat was on 70 blasting when we got in there and there is air freshener that automatically goes off so I just found that hard to believe. He also said that the beds were extremely comfortable. it’s Chooch twin mattresses on a king bed. They were hard as a rock. The bathtub has a very slow drain so the water almost comes up to your ankle. Maybe the other units in the main lodge is nicer. The layout and design is very cute, but even when I tried to open the window to get some fresh air , I couldn’t open the window because they are super super old and very dirty windows. I probably would not stay again, but the gentleman hospitality was very nice and we greatly appreciated that traveling and being laid at night.
Susan (10/5): If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely return. - The owner, Charles, is friendly and helpful. He is very respectful of a person's privacy. Breakfast was delicious. Everything is made from scratch. Tea and coffee are available at any hour. I stayed in the house rather than one of the cottages. It contains a lot of history and is beautifully decorated. It is also situated several miles from the downtown square and Truman Presidential Library. The house is close to the street and people race at night. The inn very thoughtfully provided early plugs which I found helpful.
