- Mark (9/5): - Momo was welcoming and gave us a nice tour of the neighborhood.
- May (9/5): Super séjour - Personnel d’une immense gentillesse, pleins de petites attentions. Bon petit déjeuner traditionnel.
- Stephane (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Amazing neighbourhood, we will be back! - The space of our room was amazing and location also great we will stay again. The detail of the room and location of hanare was easy walking distance to everything and immersing yourself in a neighbourhood was lovely. na
- Saman (10/5): Calm part of Tokyo in a beautiful room with thoughtful staff. - The room was large and well decorated in a neighborhood that was exceedingly calm for Tokyo. The hotel staff have prepared an extensive list of local restaurants, stores, and amenities - so many that I couldn't visit all of them on top of everything else I had planned for Tokyo.
They also include free breakfast with your stay with a variety of options. Everything was excellent.
- Daan (10/5): -
- Karolina (10/5): -
- MARTIN (10/5): - Alles Nichts
- laura (10/5): Lovely hidden gem in the city - I booked this for one night but wish I'd stayed longer the staff are lovely and make it feel like a home and it rubs of on everyone staying there too being calm and relaxed
It's got a great traditional room with lovely window views of the streets
Not too far from stations and getting into the city
An Also included a onsen ticket which was a amazing perk It's a bit difficult to get to if you don't know the area well as I found myself getting lost a few times before finding it
Rien

- Val (10/5): - I highly recommend Hanare. Our accomodation was superb, the staff very friendly and helpful. Yanaka is a charming residential part of Tokyo and we were only a few minutes walk from the station making the city very accessible. We really appreciated returning to the area and Hanare after a day out in the city. Great food and drink options nearby also.
Cristian Dior)
- Elisa (10/5): - Accoglienza, gentilezza e tranquillità. Un piccolo paradiso! Tutto perfetto!
- Eleonora (10/5): One of our best stays in Japan!
- Louise (10/5): We loved our stay and will be back! - Everything went well. The room was very clean and beautifully designed. The bathroom was huge and also spotless but even better were the passes to use at the local sento each day.
The free gelato left in the frig for us was a nice touch. My only comment would be that it would be nice to change up the breakfast menu slightly so that it wasn't the same every day.
- farhana (10/5): - We are so glad we got the ground floor private home booking of Hanare. It was so comfortable, easy, beautiful, clean, flawless, and well designed. It is located in the most quaint neighborhood. They were so kind as to hand deliver our luggage when we couldn’t check in face to face. It felt like a little heaven to live like a local. Yanaka is gorgeous. The price! Quite high per night. But I’d love to come back
- Gabriella (10/5): Quiet, peaceful neighborhood with a wonderful Japanese style breakfast - Our stay at NIWA was like an oasis. Clean, quiet and wonderfully Japanese style. We loved everything!
- Aaron (10/5): -
- Stéphanie (10/5): -
- Timothy (7/5): Cozy place probably best suited for solo travellers but I wouldn't stay here again at this price. - The room was interesting and we liked the windows and views onto the street below. But the walls were very thin so you could hear people brushing their teeth, etc. It was more of an upscale hostel type experience for a four star hotel price. You could hear people brushing their teeth, coming and going, etc. Very limited privacy. I liked the free sento passes. Yukata should be provided because this is essentially an inn. Also when the concept is 'the neighborhood is your hotel' it would make sense to provide yukata to go to the sento down the street, etc. It was annoying having to get dressed to use the bathroom in the hallway, especially during the night. Yukata are typically provided at inns/hotels like this with Japanese style rooms. Even business hotels with public baths provide them so this was a bit baffling. The check-in time was also a bit too long with too much unnecessary information provided (such as details about where the breakfast food was sourced from). Check-in should be a smooth and quick process not a long presentation. I told the staff that I had been to the neighborhood many times and was familiar with it but they insisted on providing a 20 minute overview of it. A lot of this information could just be provided in a pamphlet in the rooms. The service in the cafe was also bad. I did not get my coffee that I ordered, and then when I wanted a refill I had to go and ask a second time. The Japanese breakfast wasn't very good. I love Japanese breakfasts and foods but fish or or something else other than fish cake should have been included. Having to be at breakfast at a specific time was also annoying. It felt like having an appointment during a holiday.
- Amy (10/5): Calm and peaceful stay near Ueno Park! - Nana was so sweet, and helped my sisters and I so much during the stay. The hotel went above and beyond our expectations with the breakfast and extra goodies at check in. We loved that the rooms described the artists and desgn behind the rooms, and everything had such a personal and intentional touch. Everything was wonderful!
- Martina (10/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): Simply Magnificent staff and location - Welcoming friendly staff and location of Yanake district. Nothing
- wizArd87 (10/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): My favorite place to stay again and again in Tokyo 💛 - Everything… great location, friendly and helpful staff, beautifully designed rooms, clean and authentic, delicious breakfast Nothing
- Thomas (10/5): Simply amazing, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Toyko -
- Tanya (10/5): - Everything about our stay was lovely - there were many personal touches. We would love to stay again next time we are in Tokyo.
- Catherine (10/5): Delightful lodging in Yanaka. We really felt like we were living in the neighbourhood. - We had a lovely warm greeting on arrival and shown to our cute little room upstairs in the lodge. Everything about Hanare was explained perfectly and the girls were able to successfully book us into an amazing Sushi restaurant down to road. We had the best night eating with local diners. Breakfast each morning at Hagiso was beautifully presented and delicious. Location was perfect and would stay again if in the neighbourhood. Nothing.
- charlotte (9/5): Sweet and recluse location in the middle of Yanaka. Beautiful ryokan style rooms. -
- ALEXANDRE (9/5): Parfait - Le style japonais
- Ruslan (10/5): -
- Krystal Samantha (10/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): -
- Tereza (10/5): - The stay was above expectations. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, acommodation clean, comfortable. I also enjoyed that it situated in a traditional Japanese building and you get a free ticket to a local spa. Amazing experience.
- Dave (10/5): The perfect escape if you’re looking for a calmer Tokyo experience. - Me and my friend just stayed for 4 nights and we absolutely loved this place. It was the perfect escape from the craziness of Shinjuku etc. the attention to detail from the moment we checked in was without fault - I’m not sure I’ve ever stayed anywhere where everything has been curated with such thought. Nothing!
- Truong (9/5): - Free ice cream, quiet neighborhood
- Anna (10/5): - Momo, who was in charge of our Stay did an amazing job. The place is very beautiful and cosy. The location is perfect. The area is quiet and nice and close to egerything at the same time. Design, clean, Great service
- YI HSUAN (10/5): - Mahiro san
- fabrice (7/5): -
- Daisuke (10/5): -
- Daria (10/5): -
- Ngoc Mai (8/5): Pleasant stay - Breakfast was really good, futon very comfortable Shared shower between 6 rooms is inconvenient, especially if you’re in an upstairs room.
Bringing heavy luggage upstairs is also difficult, I would recommend travelling light if you’re upstairs
- Alles was zo smaakvol ingericht!
- Karolina (10/5): Amazing! 🤩 - Everything! Romantic, charming. Simply beautiful. Very very friendly and welcoming staff. You feel like home. Nothing to dislike.
- Joshua (10/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful staff and location - Quiet and interesting area, convenient too! Fantastic team made Hanare welcoming.
- Rémi (10/5): - L’acceuil et le charme
- Hannah (10/5): Unvergesslich!
- Laura (9/5): Tranquility - A fantastic stay in a peaceful part of Tokyo. The futon was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Apart from some brief noisy period, in the mornings and evenings, Hanare was a tranquil and homely inn.
- Kathleen (10/5): Hanare is a home away from home. - My daughter and I loved our stay at Hanare. We were warmly greeted and welcomed even before we arrived through messages inquiring about the nature of our food allergies. We loved the cozy and beautiful rooms. Everything was very clean, and we slept well. We stayed twice - once at the beginning of our trip to Japan and again the days before we left. We felt cared for like home both times, and the breakfast at Hagiso was delicious. We also walked through the neighborhood to visit the shrines and used the nearby train. The area is very family friendly and lights up at night for nearby restaurants.
- Rowena (10/5): Beautiful and friendly boutique hotel in a local area of Tokyo - Wonderful, clean, well located hotel with fantastic amenities and friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Hans-Hakon (10/5): -
- Melissa (9/5): Perfect introduction to Japan with the warmest of welcomes - Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Mahiro with a cup of tea and biscuit. She introduced us to the area with a map of places to visit, both in the daytime and the nighttime. Our stay came with daily bathing vouchers and breakfast. We stayed 3 nights, so we had opportunity to try the different bath houses and breakfast options which was great. The bath houses are a true experience that helps refresh and recover from a big day out in Tokyo. And the breakfast café is a peaceful and lovely way to start the day.
This accommodation is much more than simply somewhere to sleep, it is a warm introduction to Japanese hospitality and culture. My partner particularly loved it as a first timer to Japan, entwining traditional living quarters with delightful surprises.
Being an older and traditional style building, we did hear the occasional thumping footsteps and such, of other guests. Not a fault of the building, just something to be aware of as guests ourselves, to step lightly and respect that the building is a shared space.
The surrounding area is very charming and we found it easy to get around Tokyo, with the JR station and subway within easy walking distance.
Hanare is a cultural gem, it was the perfect start to our holiday in Japan! Thank you very much, Hanare and Mahiro!!
- MARIA AUXILIADORA (10/5): Charming - Our receptionist Mahiro was excellent. Thank you so much for the welcoming💖
We enjoyed staying in Hanare, it is a 60 years old house with a lot of charming and the neighborhood is amazing for walks during the day and the night. Nippori station is 7 min walk, I highly recommend staying near this station because it’s perfect to use the Yamanote line and the skyliner to Narita airport.
- Dominique (10/5): Nana and the staff were so hospitable, a beautiful place to stay. Really enjoyed our stay, only wish we could’ve stayed - Location, staff, breakfast, comfort Nothing to not like about this property
- In Young (10/5): -
- Isabel (10/5): -
- Chrizel (10/5): One of our best stays in Japan! Thank you Nana and Momo :) - Everything, it went above and beyond in trying to make our check in, stay and check out comfortable and memorable. The staff were so friendly and paid so much attention to all details. We could have chatted with the staff for hours!
The room was in a beautiful traditional house, it was very spacious and comfortable. We wish we stayed longer! That we didn’t stay long enough
- Lawrence (10/5): - Complimentary Japanese breakfast at Hagiso cafe was amazing. Nana was so kind and friendly, really helped us out with recommendations for things to do in the neighborhood. They also included a bunch of nice gifts with the room. Includes free access to local sentos or bathhouses, which were an amazing way to unwind after the day end. I've stayed in Tokyo 4 times, this has been my favorite accommodation by far. Rooms were a little small.
- Danbee (10/5): -
- Alejandro (10/5): - An exceptional welcome, meticulously planned and full of thoughtful touches that made us feel very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The architecture of the buildings was beautiful and detailed. We were very grateful for the attention from Momo, Nana, and the rest of the staff.
- Stephanie (10/5): My favorite stay in Tokyo - Minimalist yet comfortable Design, authentic feel of old Japanese house. Great location and most friendly staff. Nothing
- Matt (10/5): High-end traditional stay with amazing staff and breakfast. Love the area, the building and more. - Wow. The people. The help. The building and history! Everything was an incredible 'traditional' Japanese stay. I would stay here again 10/10 times. I cannot wait to be back!! Mijiro was such a delight to meet and her help was above and beyond! Loved it. Do not have any complaints.
