• Jeff (4/5): Sparta can do better. - The facility was a dump. The worst place we stayed at during our 10 day travel. Big area to let the dog run but nothing else positive.
• Victoria (2/5): - Upon arriving, the parking lot was riddled with pot holes. My boyfriend went to check in while I sat in the car with my daughter who was sleeping. He came out with the key card, &we walked in. Immediately after walking in, there was a very odd stench. We got into our room and the tv and lights were on. There were stains all over the sheets and blankets. There was a thick coat of dust on the tv, dresser, window sill, etc. The little chair in the room was disgusting and covered in dust and stains as well. The towels and wash cloths were discolored and falling apart. The bathroom was disgusting. The floor being absolutely disgusting, the tub was so gross I didn’t even want to sit my daughter in it without washing it first for a bath. There was a broken tub plug, and the shower head was also broken. Will never waste money staying here again.

• Robin (10/5): - Our check in was smooth, we arrived super early and was allowed to get our room immediately. This was great since we were on the road for a number of hours. They were pleasant to deal with.
• Marquis (4/5): - We left after we saw the room we were staying in. Very dirty.. Towels had stains and pillows were yellow. We only were going to stay there due to the Holiday Inn being completely booked.

• Patrick (8/5): - Overall pretty quiet, clean comfortable room.Of course you get the occasional idiot that cant use an indoor voice, and cannot close a door properly. That is not the property's fault. The only real drawbacks were very poor "continental breakfast", and the fact their ice machine was not working, and hasn't for quite some time, from the looks of things. A big plus is, they are pet friendly

• Sarah (8/5): - Don't judge a book by its cover! The service at Briarwood is courteous and diligent. The outside and surrounding area might be a little run down, but the owners keep the rooms clean and relatively updated. I've stayed in major chains that haven't kept the rooms as nice and charged way more per night. The walls had a fresh coat of paint, wood-laminate floors, larger mini-fridge, microwave, and the bed was comfortable. I would stay here again, especially at these prices!

• Lori (2/5): - This was not a good place to stay and would not go back there again!! Beds were lumpy, the linens were stained, and there was no breakfast as advertised. One day, I buzzed them to the front windows. It took a while for them to get there. I asked about the breakfast, and she said it was over. I said the sign on the wall says 6am to 10 am daily. It was like 8:30 or so. She went to the kitchen and turned on the waffle machine, threw stuff on the counter and left. Another guy came in looking for coffee, and there was none. They live on the property, have a young boy who is constantly crying and whining, and rides his bike up and down the hallway. They had already charged my stay to my c.c or I would have left and went somewhere else. There was a young man that stood at the front counter for over an hour waiting for help to get into his room. He left to go get him some breakfast at the local mc donalds, which is where we ended up eating. He rang their buzzer probably 50 times and they would not come to the counter! Just a horrible place!!!

• Kandyce (10/5): Good place to lay your head - The room was comfortable. The refrigerator froze all of our stuff, so that was a little annoying. The sheets were stained up, but appeared to be clean. The service was friendly and good. The breakfast they offer was sub par at best. For a place to lay your head without spending an ungodly amount it was totally worth it. We will definitely use them again in the future.

There is not much els available around town and thats what keeps them in business. Next time i will stay somewhere different if the service is better.

• Lynn (4/5): - First of all breakfast was supposed to be untill 10AM, I went to dining area just after 9, lights in dining area were off, NO coffee!! They wouldnt even make any. They speak very little English. She charged me for my Service Animal, ($30) I told her she cant charge for Service Animals. I'm disabled, on oxygen, no staff offered to help me get to my room half way down the hall. Next time I'll spend the extra money and just stay at the Holiday Inn Express...where they actually care about ALL their guests, which is what i should've done in the 1st place! Not a happy guest!!

Had to request several replacement pillowcases before we got some that weren't stained. Driveway to hotel was in terrible shape and there was a tarp on the roof. The church across the block from us was getting broken into and the police were swarming it when we showed up to check in.

• Verified traveler (2/5): - UNDOUBTEDLY THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD OF A HOTEL/MOTEL ROOM IN MY LIFE. 1) Upon entering the room, saw there was splattered diarrhea on the toilet seat. Turned down sheets, two dead bugs. Pillows reeked of rancid oil -smelled like they hadn't been washed in months. Blanket stiff and did not smell of laundry soap. I did not sleep at all. Kept all my clothes on and wrapped my head in my knitted scarf so that I wouldn't have to touch the pillows. Slept on top of sheets. In a.m. no one was at the desk (was about 6:00 a.m.). I stood there for 15 min. with sensor dinging to let them know someone was in the lobby. No one ever answered. My phone would not work there- I had to walk next door to fast-food place to use a phone. I request a full refund. Who do I submit my request to? Room # was 115. Night of stay was Friday Nov 29, 2019. SJM

• howardc761 (6/5): OK for one night stay - You can tell the hotel tries but falls short in so many ways. Carpets are warn and a bit dirty. The "Breakfast" is nothing more than a waffel maker, four types of dry Cereal, load of bread, jug of milk and fake orange juice. The bed is clean. If you stay one night maybe it is fine. You get what you pay for.
• 422frede (2/5): Not a good choice - Room was clean but that is about it. I could never find anyone at the front desk. This will not be my first choice to stay in again while in Sparta. The area was quiet but there was no place to walk to for food.

• 200been (2/5): Aug 2016 Briarwood Inn Stay - My room smelled horrible, just like it did last year. The carpets got wet at some point and were not replaced so my room smelled horrible. I stayed at this place last year too, in a different room, and it smelled nasty as well. Once the smell of mildew gets in, there is no covering it up. They need to spend some money for remodeling in this place.
• SleazEd (6/5): Good basic lodging - Been on a cycling tour for over a month; this was above average but not special. Clean room, barely adequate breakfast, so-so wifi. A couple of food options nearby, but out of town a ways. Rates were high for quality of motel. Served its purpose but hardly outstanding.
• X4637OUroberth (6/5): Great friendly motel with clean sheets good water pressure and very quiet. Courteous management with fair prices. Would - Real close to that WSRC for the SCTP NATIONAL SHOOT. Nice continental breakfast. 3 p illows on the beds and firm mattresses. Good water pressure and lots of hot water. Could use better quality toilet paper. I hope they expand.
• Falcons_Head_Coach (8/5): Our Team Had 11 Rooms For a Week - Our rooms were modest but clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did an acceptable job every day. The pool was clean and a comfortable place to gather in the evening. Management was very accommodating and responsive to our needs.There were no complaints from the 11 families that stayed in our group. This is the third year in a row that we have stayed at the Briarwood.
• 458cherylj (2/5): Briarwood inn Sparta ,ill - This motel had infestation of ants in room 124.. I was there with my daughter and 2small children.. We woke up during night ants were on everything..,even one of the babies bottles that we threw out..my daughter found sticky substance that was on the dresser..the room felled of mildew, I thought my grandson had made a poop.. The bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, was swollen.. Signifying that it had been water damaged...we had 1night stay.. Came to hotel @ 11pm for bed .. Didn't have hot water.. Had to let it run for 15 minutes..the thing that really got my goat.the milk was poured from jug.. Poured in carafe.. When I asked bout the small containers
• 198bradyb (4/5): Nothing special - Stayed here for business for 4 days. To start with the wi-fi is terrible. Dropped internet every 5 minutes is just ridiculous. We had 2 people in room and every day we got 2 bath towels 2 washcloths and 1 towel to share at the sink. Daily we asked for more towels to be left and were totally ignored. If you check in a little bit early it costs you. Room wasn't cleaned daily only left towels. For $79.99 a night go elsewhere.
• LinWey (8/5): Nice and Basic - Spent one night at the Inn to attend event at World Shooting Complex. Staff very helpful. Rooms nice and quiet. Room 100 - deadbolt did not work and informed staff. Nice, simple breakfast provided. Walmart and restaurants nearby.

RooMs Have All The BasiCs. However The Motel Is Not new. The Staff Is Very Courteous And helpful. I've Stayed In The Holiday inn Before And Keep Returning To Briar Inn ..
• 73CMG (10/5): Friendly, Reasonably Price and Clean - We stayed here with a large group for an event in at the World Shooting Complex. This was a wonderful place to stay for the whole team. Everyone was close to each other, all the rooms were on one floor, the team cooked out on the patio, played in the pool, had clean rooms and most of all a very accomidating hotel staff. The people at the hotel couldn't be friendlier. We will definitely be staying here again next year.
• heymom1968 (8/5): Reasonable price, friendly staff - We were in town for a local event and stayed two nights. The hotel was clean. Nothing fancy, but had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable, shower was decent, outdoor pool was clean. My only complaint was the cheap towels. There is a good restaurant right next door and there is a Dollar General within easy walking distance if you should need it. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
• TammyR768 (2/5): Won't Be Staying Here Again - When we first arrived, although I had made reservations two weeks in advance, we were told that the room wouldn't be ready until 2pm. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but, I was told when I made the reservations that we could show up as early as 11am and it wouldn't be a problem. We got there at noon. When we did get to check in, the entire hotel is very tired (to put it nicely). The carpets are all worn, the bed had broken springs, all of the furniture looked like it came from the side of the road. I've attached some pictures. The microwave had to be plugged in via an extension cord (which I believe is a fire hazard). The hairdryer didn't work. There was a funky piece of furniture that nobody seems to know what it is. The chair was literally "sticky" for lack of a better word, and the bedding had a red stain that I can only say looked like dried blood. The shower curtain was cloth, and allowed for water to build up in the bathroom floor. Oh, and we tried to use the heat in the room. But, it blows cool air. The contintental breakfast is a joke. There were 3 opened boxes of cereal, a loaf of wheat bread, a loaf of white bread, a jar of peanut butter, a stick of butter, and a bottle of syrup. For an actual breakfast, Mcdonalds is less than a mile away. I didn't check out the pool. The weather was too cold to even think about it. But, I did see it through the door at the end of the hall. And the best part... The morning we checked out, I found a hard-shelled black bug in the bathroom. Originally, I thought roach, but I think it was a "water bug." Regardless, when we checked out, I told the guy at the front desk about it. He responded by saying "Oh, yeah we get those up here too." Do yourself a favor and don't stay here just because it's a "former best western." Drive the 20 minutes and stay at the Reids Inn (which is an actual Best Western). The $20 difference is well worth it.
• WandaH231 (6/5): Good, affordable, basic motel - This place was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for economy and basic conforts and this was it. The room was large and well furnished. The furniture was a little "tired", but everything was clean and the desk personnel were very friendly. Would definitely stay here again
• Rodeguys (6/5): Above average and economical - We syayed here late August, 2012. This one story, interior corridor building is in very good shape. Although carpet in the room was a bit stained, it was clean. Beds were clean and comfortable and bathroom was big with a strong shower. We used the outdoor pool - very nice. The people we encountered at the front desk were freindly and helpful. We didn't try the breakfast. The cons: Location is a bit out of the way but, there was a pizza hut nearby. There was another restaurant even closer but, they close early. Our TV was awful. Old style (which is OK) but we could'nt figure out the remote. When we finally gave up and called the front desk, she acknowledged that (either that TV or all of them) were possesed by the demon and filled us in on the "trick" to make it work. Had we known that ahead of time, we wouldn't have fiddled with it half the night (thinking we were the ones that were goofing things up). Overall, it still looks like the best choice in Sparta . . . or you could pay another $60 at the Holiday Inn Express for a TV that isn't possesed.
• Vacationer9898 (10/5): nice little hotel nothing fancy - Fairly modern hotel, spotless, nothing fancy, no frills, good clean hotel at a reasonable price. Front desk people are pleasant/professional. Has an outdoor pool that was clean.
