Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Staff pressures good reviews- Don't trust - The room was smelly, with a window next to a mountain/hill dump, and the breakfast was horrible.
- Yusuke (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Thank you!
- Anas (8/5): - فريق عمل متعاون
- Muhab (10/5): - Excellent
- carol (4/5): - My stay at Rafi hotel in downtown Amman was ok. The first room I was given was unclean and had a flooded bathroom. The second day I was given a room in better condition. The breakfast is meagre but for most of the time I was there, I was the only guest at the property. I did not feel safe walking the area at night. Location is excellent for the theatre and visit to the citadel though.
- Paula (8/5): - Great value, decent breakfast, in crowded downtown area. Shower hot/cold mixer was not the best.
- VIJAYANAND (10/5): Two thumbs up!! - Traveled from Los Angeles to Amman for four nights. landed late night and reached the hotel just before 1AM. Service was great! Yusuf was very friendly and helpful during checkin and also during checkout when he ran downstairs to get me a taxi/cab and also negotiated the price for me.
The location is perfect. Literally 3 minutes walk from the Roman Theatre and 20 minute walk to the Citadel.
The room, at least the one I booked was small (compared to US standards but the same as the ones I had booked in Rome and Brussels so I guess not really a problem) but perfect for me as I had booked a two day tour so. Wasn’t in the room much but it was clean and everything was functional. I tried the breakfast on my last day; small selection but can’t complain, it was good.
Overall, really enjoyed my stay would definitely recommend Rafi hotel and would absolutely stay there again.
Only thing I would say is that I sent a few messages from Hotels.com (for airport shuttle and also for late checkin since the airline kept moving/delaying my flight) but never got a response. In the end, it didn’t matter…Hotels.com does mention that you can call their phone number which I didn’t :)
- Joseph (8/5): - Other
- Giovanna (8/5): - It is a calm and clean place, my thanks to Alhaveth for his special help.
- TITO (10/5): - I stayed 3 nights in this nice Hotel, I really like that it was really close to the 2 main attractions in Amman, the Roman Theater and Amman Citadel, both with in 15 min walk. The premises were clean and the only thing that It can be improved is the breakfast. Staff is nice and welcoming!
- Wesam (8/5): - Na
- randa (10/5): - From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They were friendly, professional, and always willing to assist with any request or question I had.
The hotel's location is perfect for both leisure and business travelers. It's conveniently situated close to downtown making it easy to explore the area and get around. The surrounding neighborhood is vibrant and full of great dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
- Rashidah (10/5): - I had a very small budget for a 2-week stay in Amman, so I took a risk and booked at the Rafi Hotel. I'm glad that I did! The staff, especially, helped me to feel safe and at home even as a woman traveling alone. At this hotel, you don't need to worry about anyone coming into your room and possibly going through or moving your belongings. Because it's a budget hotel, housekeeping doesn't come into your room everyday to clean it. But you can request your room to be cleaned and you can always ask for clean towels. Breakfast includes a variety of bread, meat, cheeses, raw vegetables, tea and coffee. The hotel is really a great value for the price, and the staff are willing to help you with any problems that you have. One thing to note for travelers is that in Jordan people smoke indoors a lot. This was also true of the hotel, both in the lobby and in the rooms, which was very surprising to me as an American. If you want a non-smoking hotel, you will need to specifically seek that out in Jordan; it's not a given. But I would stay at the Rafi again!
- Arturo (10/5): Friendly Staff, clean hotel, good breakfast - I was greeted by the Desk Clerk in a very friendly manner and was shown to my room. The breakfast consisted of varied vegetables, boiled eggs, cheese, bread, cereal, orange juice and coffee.
- Ismed Ghazali (8/5): - Location was central & within walking distance to many tourist destinations.
Restaurants, markets & shops are all closeby
Staff were informative and helpful with arranging tours.
Being on a main road, traffic noise only faded away after 9pm
- Elia (8/5): - Nice place for a 2 nights
- Arturo (10/5): Affordable, Clean, Comfortable, well located hotel - The Rafi Hotel is an older hotel in the Downtown Amman Area; it is very clean and comfortable. The service and the attention was great. The hotel is situated approximately a 5 minute walk from the 2000-year old Roman Theater. There are shops and restaurants conveniently located nearby. The hotel is priced very reasonably. I will definitely stay there in the future.
- Jawairia (4/5): - The staff was very nice but the hotel is not worth the price I paid. There was no hot water, no proper heating/AC, and it was so noisy. They did change my room to a better one when I requested it.
- Kimiko (10/5): - It’s a good and convenient location! The service was excellent. All the staffs are very friendly and helpful. The only thing is that the TV in the room was not working.
But, other than that, I highly recommend this place!
- Emiko (8/5): - Mattress was old
- Stephen (8/5): - Just down the street from the Roman Collosseum and walking distance to the citadel. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Mursal (6/5): - Good location and close to some historical sites
- benjamin (10/5): - Fantastic place and even friendlier staff. A
- Alan (10/5): Great hotel. - The Rafi hotel was a good hotel to stay at. Its location is superb, right in the old town and close to the Roman theater, downtown area and a good base to explore the sites of the city. The room was clean and had air con and shutters. The hotel staff were very helpful and it was a bargain price so I would recommend staying here. They had upgraded me to a room with two beds, a fridge, a good view of the street and a sofa. I wish i had booked this hotel for my whole trip in Amman but only stayed one day. Thanks to the staff
- Mohamed (10/5): - Great stay, suitable location
- Mariusz (10/5): - Location and quietness
- Mario (8/5): - No one clean my room or make bed. Close to main attractions in Amman. Restaurants and stores all around.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Value for money
- ahmad (8/5): - Good for quick one night sleep in Amman, the breakfast should be improved
- Inna (10/5): Good - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Rafih Hotel - The hotel staff was very helpful I wouldn't rate this hotel a 2star , I would definitely recommend it and I'd think it to be 4 star can improve on the breakfast tho but other then that the hotel and my stay was excellent nearby to everything
- emir (8/5): Nice, good location, excellent staff - The hotel has a perfect location in downtown Amman. Close to historic sites. Don't get discouraged with the look of it from the street. Although it is surrounded with not-so good-looking shops, inside it is very calm and nice, but if you want to see and feel culture you are in the place.
Rooms are spacious, decent, and decently clean. Rooms are not the same. One at the back, on the first floor did not have any view, but still it was ok. The one on the front, at the top had nice view, but was little bit loud. So take your pick.
Staff is more than nice, and very helpful.
Breakfast was nothing special, but it was plenty to eat. All in all, a good budget hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
- Rita (8/5): Great place, recommended - The room I got was ungodly noisy but the staff were completely understanding and moved me to a room on the other side which was really quiet. They are very helpful and pleasant. The hotel does not cater much to Westerners but as an American female traveling alone I felt very welcome here. Good value for money. Amazingly close to the main tourist attraction, The Citadel. Hotel arranged transport for me with a good driver at 4:30 am to go to the airport. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good clean hotel in near the Roman Amphitheater. - This is not a luxury hotel, but it is pleasantly decorated in the public areas. It is simple but the room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom plumbing is a bit outdated and delicate, but we couldn't have been happier for the price and in this location. The hotel is a bit hard to find and is nested in the hubbub of everyday Amman life. It backs up to the hillside between the Roman Amphitheater and the Roman Nymphaeum.
- Fouad (8/5): Convenient and good value for money - Friendly staff, hotel position is clear and room (single room on 3rd floor) was good. very good value for money. good wifi in all areas.
I spent only one night, stay was alright and convenient.
- mohammad (10/5): Lovely, strategically located hotel. - A wonderful choice. i was a little hesitant at the beginning but it turned out to be a real wonderful experience. A very good breakfast, clean rooms, great location and extremely helpful staff, they were very helpful with answering my questions about where to eat and where to go and they arranged a taxi to take me to the airport the next morning...
- Verified traveler (2/5): ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! - In my recent short 3-day trip to Jordan, we were due to arrive at 23.40pm and hence booked into the Rafi Hotel for a cheap overnight stay before beginning our adventure early the next morning (i.e. we expected to stay in the hotel for only a few hours and hence no point on spending too much). I booked the overnight stay on the 21st November and promptly requested the hotel to arrange our pick-up / transfer when we arrived on November 29th (the following week). No response, so I chased the following day, I was told by manager Thair Majed that 'I am very glad to confirm your airport pick up at the special rate of JOD 25'. Great.
I had an extremely busy week before travelling to Jordan - the day before travelling (28th November), I contacted Thair Majed to ensure that the transfer was arranged. As we would be landing close to midnight (and allowing for baggage, passport control etc, this would have been close to 1am), the last thing I wanted was any issues. Nil response from Thair but I had already a previous confirmation so off we went. The following day we arrived in Jordan - at around 12.45am, we started looking for our transfer / pick up. No one had our name and no representative from Rafi hotel......we spent around 15 minutes looking around before we called. We spoke to Mohammed at reception who asked us to call him back.....basically nobody had bothered to turn up and we were left with no driver. At around 1.15am, we decided to go for public taxi which cost JOd 18 (so muc
- Matthew (8/5): Central, pleasant hotel - The hotel is in the very centre of the downtown district, very close to places like the roman theatre and citadel.
The rooms are very basic - but meet expectations of what you're paying for. The staff were very helpful in assisting me to organise a bus to Petra for early the next morning. However, when I tried to check out early to get across town to catch the bus, there was no one at reception to help me - apart from a very sleepy porter who just kept gesturing at me, before going back to sleep in his chair.
- Stephen (8/5): nice staff in a decent location - The hotel has a convenient location to the colloseum. I asked for a room with a view if they had one. My room's window was completely blocked by their sign.
- Jane (8/5): Great stay! - Rafi Hotel was great, and in a perfect location. It's a few blocks down from the Roman theater and the citadel and right next to the souq. The staff could not have been nicer. One gave my friend her coat when it got unexpectedly cold, and as we had a very early departure, they set up breakfast (fresh pita, cheeses, coffee) early for us. The accommodation itself is perfectly nice and clean. The only negative was that it is not very sound proof so we heard activity in the hall and on the street, but still slept fine. Great stay for the price.
- MUEEZ (8/5): Convenient - Convenient for one night stay, close to local attractions & shopping
- Dan (6/5): Good location, good value for $ - Hotel was centrally located and served us well for a place to sleep for the night. Room was ok, bathroom was quite filthy, but could have been worse, considering we've seen other hotels in the area.
Staff were kind, nice and helpful. We hated the fact that people were smoking everywhere in the shared spaces, including the dinning room and lobby.
- Nazri (8/5): Nice room & good service - Room is very clean & big.
Good location,great staff
Breakfast just fair.
- John (10/5): - Mohammed the reception gentleman was extremely nice. Informative, caring, helping and attentive.
- Bill (8/5): - The check in was very easy and our room was clean and comfortable. The location in the center of the city made it easy to walk to nearby shops and restaurants.
- Matthew (6/5): Excellent location in Jordan but very basic hotel - This hotel is very basic but located in the heart of downtown Jordan so lots of great cafes and restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel. Breakfast is only just adequate . If you stay in the rooms with a view of the city below, make sure you bring good ear plugs. I don't think there is daily housekeeping here but we certainly never had any the four days we stayed. This is a good budget option but don't expect anything special. Also would be a good idea to bring some body wash and shampoo for your stay as they only give you one teeny tiny bottle of each for your entire stay.
- Tee (6/5): Not bad - Rooms are clean (most important).
Came across two hotel reception members, one was useless and one was super helpful, hence the acceptable rating, otherwise I would have rated it excellent for that one receptionist's advice and care.
Breakfast needs a whole lot of upgrading in choices and quality.
Basically the price you pay is what you expect out of the experience.
All in all, not too bad.
- Abobakr (10/5): Awesome nights - It was wonderful
- Jim (10/5): Great location and good value - This hotel was in walking distance of everything that is worth seeing in Amman. The room we had was high up away from a lot of the street noise and with a good view of the citadel . The staff were very helpful and friendly . Amman is the friendliest city i have been to in the world .
- Abdulkareem (8/5): Enjoyed the stay - Overall was great. very close to the shopping area, friendly staff, very helpful, and a clean hotel
- Verified traveler (2/5): They are not let me check-in - We planed to have trip in Amman and booked this hotel for a week before we get there, we left from the United states and heading to amman. After we got to this hotel, the reception not allow us to check-in, cause we do not have marriage certificate to show them !!!. This is so bad and unacceptable for me. No any details in the website when we book. We got out from that hotel with our baggage, tired and walking around the city in the night to get a place to staying. !! Thanks
- Helz (10/5): Hidden gem of a hotel - There are so many great things about this hotel, it's difficult to know where to begin. Firstly, the rooms and services are those of a much higher rated hotel. The rooms are all new, clean and comfortable with all the amenities like satellite TV, fridge, 24-hour reception and towels shaped as swans.
The staff are second to none. It's a family run hotel and you get a warm feeling. They're very polite, friendly and welcoming. Really keen for you to make the most of your stay and visit to Jordan. They organised a driver to take us to the baptism site, Mount Nabo and Madaba. They also put us with another British couple for us to share a taxi to Petra - making it cheaper and more convenient for us.
The breakfasts are good. Typical Arabic with bread, tea, cheese, ham, tomatoes, jams and fruit.
Also, the Roman amphitheatre is literally behind the hotel and the citadel is short, uphill walk. You're right the centre of Amman, so loads of shops, restaurants and hotels are on the doorstep.
I've never come away from a stay anywhere thinking I definitely need to come back to this country soon and when I do, I'll absolutely stay at the Rafi. It's an absolute gem of a hotel and a steal price-wise.
- Naz (8/5): Great little hotel in Amman - Had a wonderful stay at the Rafi Hotel. We had a late check-in and a very early check-out but everything went very smoothly.
The rooms were clean with a large, comfortable, king size bed. The bathroom was well done up and had a hot shower.
Was more than we expected for a budget hotel. If this is maintained, it may even be better than the more expensive hotels.
- Naz (6/5): Good value hotel near Roman Amphitheatre - Stayed at the Rafi Hotel for 5 nights whilst exploring Jordan.
Good hotel, recently refurbished so the standards are pretty decent. The rooms are well designed and clean. Our room had a comfortable, king-size bed though a queen size or even a large double would have been more than enough.
The shower was hot with good pressure, with shower curtains although the water did spill on to the rest of the bathroom floor.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the owner of the hotel.
All in all, a pretty decent hotel for the price and includes a good filling breakfast. A full basket of laundry is only 5JD, which was a nice perk.
Only downside was that we were fighting with mosquitoes every night! Knew I should have brought mosquito repellent with us! And it would have been a little nicer if the pillows and cushions were placed neatly on the bed when the room was cleaned. Just to add to the whole 'niceness'.
However, for the price it is definitely worth the money and would definitely stay again and will recommend to others!
Well done to the Rafi Hotel for pulling up the standards of a budget hotel. We need more hotels like yours.
