Guest Reviews
- Norman (10/5): - Quiet and safe. Very clean. Slightly dated but bathroom was completely renovated. Highly recommended
- Nick (10/5): - Always a good stay at the Travellers Motel in Stratford. Rooms are clean, quiet and safe.
- Beth (6/5): - Clean but very dated. Parking close to room. Definitely could use a refresh.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean!
- Christine (10/5): - The motel is older and could maybe use a bit of paint but inside the room was renovated and very clean with good AC, microwave fridge and tv. The owner and staff were very helpful and nice. Check in and out very easy. A very short drive to downtown and a short walk to the mall and other stores and restaurants. Haven't stayed in a motel for years and forgot how nice it is to have windows that open front and back and in the bathroom. Paid a fortune for a room and parking on previous visits to Stratford so I'm very happy to have found something affordable with free parking.
- Neil (10/5): - Nice clean room ideal stay overnight
- Douglas (8/5): - The staff was very friendly. I appreciated being able to check in before their official check time.
- Anisa (4/5): Stay elsewhere if possible! - Everything else was booked in the City or was a lot of money. It was a place to sleep and the air conditioning worked. The smell of the room deodorizer/cleaner was overwhelming and the carpets were suspect. The beds were small and uncomfortable. Try to book elsewhere in advance. I certainly will in the future.
- Sarah (10/5): - Clean, friendly and reasonably priced! Mattress was a bit soft but everything else was a delight.
- Richard (10/5): - Place was great. Clean and well kept. Check in process was super quick and ample parking. AC in the room was great. Could benefit from a blackout curtain on the east facing windows to help with the rising sun but we would definitely come back.
- Christine (8/5): - Non-smoking room, but it had definitely been smoked in. The bedding had hairs from previous guests. Convenient and friendly, but would not stay again.
- Cara (8/5): Good family operated motel - The family that owns this are working very hard to make sure everyone’s stay enjoyable. No corporate overloads here. Good value for the money. Big rooms.
- Gillian (8/5): - We were not available to check in until after the front desk was closed. The staff were very accommodating and made other arrangements so we could get into our room and combined check in with check out the next day.
- Bryanna (8/5): Adequate and affordable - Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Efforts have been made to update the interior of rooms. Price was good compared to other hotel/motels in area. Adequate accommodations for a one night stay. Some attention should be given to the door locks.
- Connie (10/5): - Very convenient too downtown
- Caroline (8/5): - The gentleman in the office was lovely - super patient and helpful. I was able to walk to the theatre (Avon and Festival) and not have to worry about parking.
- Chris (6/5): - Older motel - Rooms are basic but clean - Very convenient
location - minutes from downtown
- Delena (10/5): - Room is very clean and comfortable
- Helen (8/5): - The rooms were perfectly acceptable but they smelled a bit musty.
We weren’t given the WiFi password when we checked in.
There was a guest sitting outside his room next door smoking most of the time we were there which wasn’t very pleasant.
There was a coffee maker in the room but no coffee mugs or milk / creamer.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Clean but dated. Great location. Accommodating to my late check-in.
- Janet (2/5): - The facility was very rundown. People appear to be living there.Had to ring a bell for help. Door was beaten up. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
- Robert (10/5): - This an old school motel. It was clean and tidy. The room was large and the beds quite comfortable. The owner was very personable and pleasant.
- James (6/5): - Good clean accommodation, good value for the price.
- Sharon (10/5): Our stay was fine - The place needs a bit of outside TLC but our room for one night was clean, comfortable and quiet. No complaints.
- Louis (6/5): - I couldn't open my room door with my key. The door handle wouldn't turn except with great effort which I don't have. The manager did attend to my problem but his solution was to unlock my room up to 30 minutes before I arrived back from my evening activity. He assured me my room and contents would be safe, but still my door was unlocked without my being there.
- Barb (10/5): - I was impressed with the room. Had 2 double beds which were very comfortable, very clean and a large size room which was surprising.
- E ALLEN (6/5): - The exterior of the motel looks run down, but the room we stayed in was clean, quiet and well-maintained
- Elaine (10/5): - The room was clean and staff was very helpful. We were close to shopping and had a nice walk to the festival theatre.
- lee (6/5): - Room was clean and fresh but it needed a lot of upgrade.
I had to pay extra $15 for 3rd person because it didn't show on the reservation. I am not sure why, i reserved a room with 2 queen beds for 3 peoples, but only 2 showed on the reservation?
- Birgit (10/5): - This is a great old school motel conveniently located at close both main theaters in Stratford. It has been renovated and was clean. We noticed we did not have a coffee machine and that was rectified immediately. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for 3 consecutive showers. You'll be provided with a hairblower if needed for security reasons. We would recommend a stay here.
- William (8/5): - Convenient - 2 minute drive to festival area. Appears rundown from the outside and parking lot; but the room was clean and had all one needed.
- Lance (6/5): - It's basic, but it's clean. An affordable place in a town that doesn't otherwise have affordable places.
- Howard (10/5): - Very economical and well located. Hope to see you again.
- Jack (10/5): - This room had everything I need; comfortable bed and shower. Also the things I appreciate; micro, TV, AC, fridge. However, if you're looking for fancy or luxurious, go a bit closer to town and pay a lot more $. Next time I'm in Stratford I'll stay here.
- Elizabeth (4/5): - Place needs to be renovated as furniture tired and there was big couch in room and not sure why as beside tv. The condiments for coffee were in a container and not sure what it was. I used Amex to pay and then told after went through that they did not take Amex. I had to go back as person at desk could not do the refund-an inconvenience. The room was clean but curtains tied up and air conditioner old and not clean. Would not recommend this place.
- Grant (10/5): - The owner is making nice renovatios
- Anne (8/5): - The room was clean and so was the bathroom. There was no place to hang up my clothes.
- Mitzi (10/5): - The property is unpreposessing from the the outside but the renovated room is lovely, comfortable and quiet. We’ll happily stay here again.
- Janet (10/5): - The motel was very nice. It looks like an average, older motel when you drive in, but the room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. The AC unit was new and very good on a really hot day.
- Michael (8/5): - Proper
- Marijana (10/5): - The owners are friendly and accommodating. The room was nice and clean. Within walking distance of Festival Theatre and not too far from the Tom Patterson. This is now our place to stay when we come see plays at Stratford or just come to visit the city. :)
- Stephanie (8/5): - Dog friendly. Affordable stay in Stratford. E
Quick drive to theatre and downtown
- Jacqueline (6/5): - The room was nice for the price, a bit dusty but overall clean. When we were coming back to our room the man from the front desk came and yelled at us, thinking we were trespassing. It took him a second to recognize/believe but seemed very apologetic about it after.
- Neil (10/5): - Great spot and value
- Jerrod (10/5): - The outside of the motel looks dated - but the individual units were fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely book here again.
- Florence (10/5): Great hotel - Room was very, clean, with just the right firmness in the mattress after a very long day to our destination.
The shower and washroom facilities were extremely clean and well maintained.
Thank you for a great place to stay.will definitely recommend
- Wey Lun Jimmy (8/5): - For a motel this place is very good. Only $135 ish. We wanted a cheaper stay closer to Stratford for a day trip. The air conditioning is strong which we love. The room is good size and 2 good beds. Bathroom is big for motel room. I even soaked in the tub. If you are looking for a room that is better than most air bnb and cheaper, then try this place.
- Paul (8/5): Great value; a real gem! - Great value! You know what they say about not judging a book by its cover? It applies here. While the exterior is rustic and dated, we were exceedingly pleased with our room, which was incredibly clean and well-appointed. We were in Stratford for a show at the Festival Theatre. This little gem of a motel is a 20 minute walk from there. Perfect if you’re looking for comfort and value. An added shoutout to the very friendly and welcomed Raj the owner. He even allowed us to keep our car in his property until the end of the day we checked out.
- PAULINE (8/5): - Tracy, one of the staff and ray, the owner were very helpful and welcoming
- Shelagh (6/5): - It was close to Stratford Theatre. There were designated smoking outside each room. I don't smoke, so I understood that my room would be non-smoking. As soon as I walked into the bathroom and turned on the light which turns on the exhaust fan, I could smell the tar and nicotine. I looked up at the fan and it was yellowish/brownish as people had been smoking in the bathroom. The cover and perhaps the blades of the fan need to be cleaned with TSP and maybe even the entire washroom.
- Sabrina (10/5): Best place to stay in town - Excellent room very nice stuff then they front desk person is so welcoming. It’s so cute and so helpful.
- John (8/5): - From the outside, the Traveller's Motel looks a little dated. My room, however, appeared to have been recently remodeled. It was comfortable, well-furnished, and relatively spacious, although the couch and armchairs--which I definitely wasn't expecting--took up a lot of that space.
- Wanda (8/5): - We had a little kitchenette with fridge, sink and microwave which was quite convenient. The unit was very old with very outdated furnishings but the beds were clean and very comfortable. We stayed only one night and so it served our purpose.
- Denise (10/5): - Anything needed they provided and had someone there in 10 min to fix an issue in my room…
- Shujon (8/5): - Great location
- Brett (6/5): $ - An inexpensive place to stay in Stratford. An old 60's motel that looks its age. Large room probably renovated in the 90's. Clean, quiet. Okay for a couple of nights. Unit 4, c/w coffee, fridge and microwave.
- Sharon (8/5): - Will definitely stay there again
- Bruno (10/5): - It’s clean, comfortable and a cheap option for those staying overnight. Very convenient. I’d recommend.
- Patti (10/5): - Every time I go to Stratford, I book a room at the Travellors Hotel - so convenient.
- Jacqui (8/5): - Clean place, pleasant staff and reason rates.
- Louise (10/5): - With the new renos the rooms are very nice. Like the old days.
- mandy (10/5): - I like how homey the rooms where ,the beds where so comfy. Very clean !! Staff was very friendly
- Tracey (8/5): - It was a little rough from the outside and could use a bit better lighting at night but the room was clean and the price was right
- John (10/5): - Excellent facility. Very reasonably priced. Not fancy but provided what I wanted. Good value for the money.
- Mike (10/5): Great location and helpful staff - Very convenient location and nice staff. All that you need in your room and good climate control
- Eugene (10/5): - no
- caitlin (6/5): - Was okay for what I needed
- Wilma (10/5): - It's an older motel but the room is neat and very clean.
- Simon (10/5): - Excellent Plumbing, and Heating fixtures and cabinetry custom fitted...Staff Always Available For Check-in and assistance. Restaurants, shopping close by. Convenient to Stratford Festival grounds. Short drive to Lake Victoria, Avon river. Short drive to VIA Rail
- Brian (10/5): - everything
- Brandy (10/5): - The only real "note" I have is that there are no coffee makers in the rooms which would have been fine except that all of the nearby places that I could have just bought a coffee were closed when I left at 7:30am.
Otherwise it was great. Big comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower, and the shampoo smelled like Earl Grey Tea. I'll be back.
- Ruth (2/5): - There was no daily service to the room even tho it was offered, there was an old trailer in the parking area and junky garbage around the perimeter. Definitely suffering from lack of management.
- William (8/5): - Room was small, but clean. Staff was friendly. Adequate for a one night stay .
- Christopher (10/5): - This is a hidden gem. No doubt about it. The outside looks old. But damn the rooms are nicely renovated. Clean. Very clean. And the service (they called after I booked to see what time I was arriving to have the room warm and cozy) and check in were awesome. I won’t lie. Thought this was gonna be a lot worse then it is. I was expecting a bit of a dive. But I learnt again to never judge a book by its cover.
- Debra (8/5): - The room was clean, warm and quiet. Other residence coming out of their motel room asking me for money.
- Kathryn (8/5): - Inviting clean and quiet…..nice people
- Sandra (8/5): Clean, warm, and spacious accommodations - The room, which was large, was warm and toasty when we arrived. It was very clean and cozy. I was surprised to find no coffee maker, even though coffee cups were sitting on top of the microwave, and no hair dryer in the bathroom (or anywhere else), but perhaps these omissions were due to our visit being during the Stratford Festival's off season. Overall, staying at the Travellers Motel was a very good experience.
- Lothar (6/5): - The property is a little run down. Clean and comfortable.
- Philip (10/5): - It’s an older looking motel property but the room we stayed in was clean with modern decor and a vey nice bathroom. Bed and pillows very comfortable, room was cozy and warm
- Karen (10/5): - Close to all amenities.
- Brenda (10/5): - Very basic motel, somewhat dated, but exceptionally clean.
- Winnie (6/5): - quiet place for short stay
- Edward (8/5): - Units were a little run down.
- Nicole (10/5): - Service was amazing!
Exterior was less than impressive but the room was renovated and the bed was so comfortable.
Never judge a book by it’s cover :)
- Douglas E (4/5): - Plumbing held together with electrical tape. Nausiating odour in unit and unable to open window.
Despite these problems the unit itself appears to have been well cleaned.
- Karen (8/5): - Outside looked shabby but room was very nice - clean, lovely bed and bathroom and decor.
- Christina (6/5): - You get what you pay for, overall decent place
- Steve (6/5): - You get what you pay for
- Nigel (8/5): - Convenient and low cost
- Jessica (8/5): - In a perfect area for access to all needs, everything is super close by. Single room bed was fine, clean and spacious enough. Price beats others in the area and would stay again if ever needed.
- Diane (8/5): - Xxx
- Gail (8/5): - Outside areas in poor shape, looks like there are permanent residents at the motel.
- Thomas (10/5): - good value for the money
- Robert (8/5): - Z
- Mary-Louise (6/5): - If you are looking for a bare bones room that isn't too expensive, you would like this motel. However, everything is run down. The chain lock on the door came off as we undid the lock in the morning, the ceiling in the bedroom and bathroom had patches that had been fixed but not repainted, the microwave clock couldn't be reset and it chirped when you passed it to enter the bathroom, there wasn't any kind of ledge in the bathroom to put out your cosmetics, brush, etc., there was only one straight back chair in the room (there were three of us), the lights were old and not very strong, making the room dark, there were only three hangers (and only one had a bottom bar to hang up pants), and the curtains barely covered the windows. The beds were comfortable, though, and there was a mini fridge.
- Lana (8/5): - Don't let the 70's style exterior fool you. The rooms are modern and renovated. Would definitely stay here again the next time at Stratford.
- Allen (4/5): - I've stayed in worse motels, but not worse by much. There was an unpleasant smell outside and another in my room when I arrived. (cleaning products?) There were only a few other cars there both nights, so it was not a busy place. There was no screen on my one opening window, so I couldn't really keep the window open for fresh air. The air conditioner was very loud so I would have preferred to get fresh air in the room. In the bathroom, one of the two lights over the sink were burned out and there was no soap tray in the bathtub. The 32" TV was too small for the room size based on the large room size and I had difficulty at times using the remote from the bed. The bed was ok, no complaints there. The furnishings were old but clean. The front office was a mess and the check-in person was not terribly friendly or thankful for my business. You need to ask for daily room care otherwise they will not make up your room daily. I would not stay there again and opt for somewhere like the very nice looking Best Western Arden Park just down the street for a few dollars more.
- John (4/5): - The property looks like it is currently being upgraded which it desperately needs. Our room was clean and looked like it had been recently updated. Needs paint and a new air conditioner. The office definitely needs work. The whole building is very tired looking. Hopefully this will all change if the upgrading continues.
- IONA (8/5): - We come here every time we visit Stratford!!! Great location, plenty of dining options, close to mall, friendly service. Room very nice with mini fridge, coffee machine, shower/bath combo, air conditioning, beds very comfortable.
- Sandy (10/5): - Older, but very well looked after.
