Georgia (4/5): We’re not able to stay there as stated above - Clean, nice My husband has a broken leg and although we requested 1st floor , they gave us an upstairs room. The stairs were outside and like a fire escape very steep very small steps and a lot of them. We were not able to stay there and had to drive to the next destination. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Zekos (4/5): It was fine for a one night stay for the star party but I don’t think I’d stay there again. - Charming older property with good location. Honestly it smelled like a mouse or squirrel died in the walls somewhere, like a week ago. Overpowering enough to be difficult to ignore but subtle enough that your nose eventually got use to it. I can’t comment on the staff as I never saw or interacted with one. I used the number provided to text for more towels because we were only given one for me and my husband to share, and no one ever responded to the text or gave us more towels. It was a little dusty and they could easily change the shower head so it’s not spraying out of the shower. They gave a coffee voucher for a place called Double Shot Coffee but when we tried to go get it the girl said she was too busy with other things to serve us. So we never got to use it.

The reception staff were friendly, accommodating and responsive. Our room was clean and spacious. Room 42 in the casita across the street from the hotel was a little noisy during the night facing road noise and windows are on the porch where other hotel occupants pass to access their rooms. Very narrow vanity. Could use a second suitcase stand and/or a chair.

Deaton (10/5): Unique stay in a historic hotel - Our king suite was very cozy and comfortable, and quite cute. It is an old, historic hotel, but it is in very good condition. The bathroom was a bit uncomfortable (clawfoot tub with a hanging, oval-shaped curtain ring), but that is understandable due to the age of the hotel. The website does tell you that the facility is not ADA accessible. Our suite had a full-sized kitchen which was a huge plus for us. Everything in our suite was amazingly clean. The staff was very nice and attentive. And of course.. the whole mountain area is beautiful. We will definitely stay here again. Totally recommend! Although the clawfoot tub was cool and unique, it was not comfortable taking a shower in it. It comes with the territory... not complaining! We would still rent this suite again.

The walls are pretty thin, everything around (bars, restaurants) closes pretty soon. They were a bit confused with our payment since we paid via Booking.

The staff was friendly and cheerful and so helpful. I wish I could have stayed more than one night. I definitely recommend this hotel. And if you have mobility issues they have lovely rooms on the ground floor. Nothing!

At 83 I'm not keen on schlupping my bag and myself up and down the stairs. Love the Limpia. Best, Frances Morey I couldn't reach the high up AC that may have had heating. The desk clerk was kind enough to bring me 2 blankets and a space heater. Thanks to him my night's sleep was comfortable.

The lady at the desk was very helpful and told us where to eat next door. The food was so very good. Overall it was a good experience.
Hui Yu (5/5): Overall for the price I paid it's not worth it at all. I do appreciate Barbara, she is an angel! - The room with two queen beds is good size. Barbara at the reception desk was so wonderful, I hardly ever see anyone who is so nice and works so hard. I feel she is the only person running the place. Without her, the stay would have been worse than the worst experience. We only got the room in the building across the street due to the reason that I booked via the third party, not directly with the hotel. This information was not shared at booking.com or the hotel. If we need anything or talk to the staff, we had to walk across the street to the main building, which happened right after we made to our room. When we arrived in our room, there was no towels, no soap, shampoo etc. Not even the shower curtain. We had to walk across the street back to the main building. The housekeeping was gone for the day. We had to bring the towels and amenities with Barbara to our room, my hustband helped to take the shower curtain down from an unoccupied room and put it up in our room. The room is very basic, the windows were cracked. The sheets had non-washable big stains like dyes on them. I saw the same in another room the next morning, the stains were big enough that I could see clearly by just passing by. The building I stayed is just like a motel with more than double the motel price tag.
Nichole (9/5): Nice relaxing getaway - The room was beautiful and spacious. We were downstairs in the veranda, so it was bright and quiet. The staff was soo wonderful, and it was nice to sit in the courtyard and relax. The restaurant was really good too. Fort Davis as a whole is dying. A lot of places were closed til the weekend or closed for the season. The only breakfast was at a grocery store down the road, the restaurant was only open from 4-8 pm, so you had to travel for lunch, or bring your own. The rooms didn't have a refrigerator.

Es liegt auf der anderen Strassenseite. Das ist nicht weiter schlimm.

Joachim (6/5): Hotel cool, Schlafcomfort schlecht - Unser Zimmer war nicht im Haupthaus, sondern gegenüber an der Hauptstraße. An sich war das Gebäude sehr urig. Es hätte wunderbar in jeden Western gepasst. Leider lag unser Zimmer direkt zur Hauptstraße hin. Die Fenster hatten den Schallschutz einer Plastikfolie… Das hießt, jedes Fahrzeug fuhr akustisch direkt durch unser Zimmer. Auch wenn der Verkehr in diesem Städtchen gering ist, so war jedes Auto, jeder LKW und jedes Motorrad deutlich im Zimmer zu hören.

Heather (10/5): Good Stay with Some Missed Details - This hotel is always great - my preferred one when I go to FD. I noticed the bed linen had stains on it, and there was dust on the bed frame…just some details that were missed. We were in the casita building that was separate from the main building. TBH it wasn’t by choice - the front desk said all Expedia guests stayed there (which is a first for me. I’ve used hotel.com to reserve my stay there for the preview four times, and I haven’t been shunned to the other building before. It was a little off putting.)

Staff were generally very friendly. Our room was across the street from the main hotel buildings, above a storefront. I'd have preferred to be closer to the ice machine and lobby/garden/restaurant. A refrigerator would be a very welcome addition to the room.

Cpt (10/5): Historic charm in a lovely West Texas location. - It is a truly charming location! Historic and in a lovely location in West Texas. The drive along the road from Belmorhea is very picturesque and pleasant to view at different times of day, to see how the light changes the scenery. The enclosed veranda, reading room, and central reception area are perfect for spending some time reading or having a coffee. This visit was in the first week of June, 2025, when the temperatures ranged from 78 to 85°F. We also made the short trip to McDonald Observatory for the star party. We will definitely return.

delialm2025 (2/5): DO NOT stay here. - We checked in mid-afternoon, left our luggage in the rooms without really checking them out because we wanted to get to the state park. Big mistake! When we came back later, we noticed the room in the main building and the one in the Orchard House were unclean except for the beds. In the Orchard House the microwave was very old, did not have platter, was scorched, and did not work. The little fridge did not have a freezer cover so it had at least 2 inches of ice. The coffee bags were scrunched, there were only water cups, no cream or sugar. Worst part? The tub. Had to put a towel in it to take a shower because it was grimy. Next morning went to front desk to ask for toilet paper; could not get any until the maintenance guy came to work. The room in the main building had a kitchen but the dishwasher had apparently been broken for some time and the ceiling was in bad shape. Morning coffee in lobby? Yes, but no cups; fortunately a guest found some. Nothing had been refreshed from the day before. I have never written a complaint review, but i had to this time because of sanitary issues. I added a couple of pics as examples of what I said. Wish I had read recent reviews and cancelled before we came.
Kelly (2/5): It sucked big time. I treat my dog better than they treated us! - There was no breakfast. The bed was so uncomfortable and hard that my wife slept in an upright chair. I slept in the bed and kept waking up because it was so uncomfortable. Could not take a shower, because the faucet to the bathtub was broken. The floor in the bedroom was sunken in and it felt like we might go through the floor. Since we were on the second floor, despite our request for a bottom room, which they didn't honor, even though we are Senior Citizens and I have cancer, we were concerned we might fall through the floor. There was no elevator so we struggled to carry our luggage to the second floor and staff didn't offer to help. Their restaurant was so bad that it took two hours to get our food and we were advised it was because their waiters, waitresses and cooks were understaffed. We couldn't eat breakfast there on Sunday morning, because they were so understaffed that they had to close the restaurant on Sunday. They advised us no one wanted to work on a Sunday. We will never stay in this outdated gnarly hotel again.
Barbara (10/5): Relaxing - Quirky historic building filled with antiques and amazing staff provided a se ce of comfort that’s hard to achieve Not the hotel’s fault, but food in the town was hard to find. The town is struggling and the food choices were very limited. The food we did find was very good. The food in the restaurant attached to the hotel was good but it wasn’t open part of our stay.
keithsC2993EW (2/5): Buyer Beware! - This place is a disappointment. I've waited a week to write this review so that I cauld cool off. Either way, there is no way to make it less brutal. In late spring of 2024 when we planned our trip, we were not able to make reservations online. I called and was told the hotel was under renovation and they were not taking reservations yet for Spring Break 2025. I checked back later in the summer of 2024 and they were able to take reservations. I inquired about the room types. I was told that the only rooms with two beds were in Casa Limpia across the street. This isn't at all true. They are the rooms for "budget travelers" at $315 per night. For that price, you get a room that is the equivalent to a run down Motel 6. Of course, with Indian Lodge still being closed for renovation, there wasn't much choice in Fort Davis. When we arrived, the desk reception was rude and dismissed my request to change buildings. Obviously they were full, and that's ok. But be courteous about it. We parked on the street and unloaded our things into our room, #42. The carpet had embedded sticker burrs in it, so forget about walking around in the room barefoot. There were only two towels, so I went and requested one more towel because we are a family of 3. They did not have any, but would bring us one. That's fine. An hour later we were brought a wet towel. A soaking wet towel! I questioned the person that brought it to me, why it was wet. "You can hang it up to dry" was the response. Really???? I said "No! I want a dry towel!" Which we received a couple of hours later. Being brought a wet towel and told to hang it up was a first for me! The next day our room was kind of cleaned. They made one bed, but not the other, and took the third towel away. I went to the desk to ask for another towel, and no one was there. I just happened to see cleaner outside, and was give a towel with holes in it. At least it wasn't wet. The next day, our room wasn't even cleaned at all. We have stayed at The Gage and Paisano on prior trips, and the El Capitan on this trip. We were under the impression that we would receive a similar experience at Hotel Limpia. NOT SO! This place doesn't even know how to "hotel", nor are they even remotely in the same league as the aforementioned hotels. We paid $100 less a night at El Capitan (visiting GMNP) and had a two bedroom suite! And it was amazing. As bad as our experience, the family checking in behind us also had booked a room with two beds and were given a room with one bed and a cot. I guess we got the last room with two beds. Buyer beware if you are staying here!!! Not enough thumbs down. Now for the Blue Mountain Bistro. For everything the hotel does wrong, the restaurant gets right. While the menu choices are not many, they had a good special the two nights we ate there, that were really good. They have a good bar and a decent wine list. The waitstaff was good, and attentive. We enjoyed our two meals here and would return to eat. So go eat at the Blue Mountain, but stay somewhere else.

Only complaints was that the smaller room had a very tiny shower with a shower curtain that was too short and caused water to spill onto the floor. Loved the full kitchen and dining room for meals. Side note, the building is old and the walls are pretty thin. Overall, very happy with our choice in this location !
