Guest Reviews
- Clayton (10/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): A pleasurable stay at the Villa with the surrounding nature and a great host. - John the owner was so helpful with are travel plans for hiking and rafting. Got us our guide as well as set up for rafting.
The location of the Villa was awesome for getting around. The Villa has such a tranquility to it with the surroundings made you want to stay for longer. The meals were also amazing. I so loved the fresh mixed fruit plater you got with breakfast in the morning. The puppies also added to creating a pleasurable stay.
- Monique (10/5): It was an extremely relaxing stay. - Soledad and her husband were the absolute best hosts. The breakfast was delicious! She also provided dinner one night for an added price. I felt like I was at home. They also helped us book a rafting trip. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. Hospitality and the property was beautiful and quiet. It's on top of a big hill, so make sure the taxi takes you all the way to the top or they offer a pick up service from bus station.
- Sarka (10/5): Krásna vila i zahrada - Výborná snídaně.

- Maria (10/5): Our experience at La Villa de Soledad was one of the major highlights of our 2 week trip in Honduras. I hope to have the - John and Soledad, the owners and hosts of this property, are incredibly kind, welcoming, hospitable and knowledgeable about the area. John helped us book 2 incredible day trips (one hike and one rafting expedition) despite it being Christmas Day. The property is absolutely beautiful, and John and Soledad are very detailed ensuring you have everything you need and more (we had lovely fresh flowers provided in the room). You feel immersed in nature and wake up to the sounds of the river and birds chirping. Rooms were clean and with plenty of space. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious.
- Charles (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Villa de Soledad. It’s located in a beautiful setting and right near the trailheads of the Pico Bonito National Park. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and helpful!
- Alon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeremy (6/5): - we did not stay here, as we could not find the place. we called the manager and canceled our stay and he confirmed he would let hotels.com know to refund us. i also called hotels.com twice to get a refund and no return follow up.
- Timothy Paul (10/5): Would come back - We only stayed one night but wish we stayed longer. La Villa de Soledad is a beautiful mansion in the traditional Spanish style with an open courtyard. The room was spacious, clean, and the beds were comfortable.
John and Soledad were kind and accommodating hosts. We had an incredible dinner there cooked by Soledad - maybe the best during our trip to Honduras.
The short walk down to the river is really nice and it honestly beats having a pool.
- Andreas (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was in perfect condition, everybody was super friendly and helpful and the area is really nice.
Closesed to the park and it also had a nice spot at the river just 2 (steep) minutes by walk.
During the whole day and night you can hear the jungle around you, I love it!
- Margaret (10/5): Peaceful Haven - Excellent hosts, beautiful location, excellent meals. Would highly recommend staying if you enjoy a peaceful setting immersed in nature.
- samantha (10/5): - This is one of the best hotel/B&B experiences I’ve ever had and one of my favorite lodgings to date. If you’re going to Pico Bonito National Park, this is hands down the best place to stay. The owners were so kind and helpful, and the property was gorgeous. I also really enjoyed the food and conversation. If I’m ever back in the area, this is the only place I’ll stay!
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alvin (10/5): Best place I've been in a long time - Beautiful secluded location, lovely gardens

- Jason (9/5): Sweet couple run/own the place; very accommodating. - Peaceful. Clean. Beautiful location
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - John and Soledad were friendly and attentive hosts. Soledad made us healthy and tasty dinners on request. Breakfast was a complete meal that included a large plate of fresh tropical fruits. The setting in the rainforest was beautiful and relaxing with the sound of the river and fountain. The beds were comfortable. It was a great place to come back from activities such as sidetrip to Cayos Cochinos.
- Lawrence (10/5): - If you’re looking to truly relax in nature, this is the place! The property grounds are surrounded by lush gardens and the sounds of nature all around you is just a calming vibe! There’s a river just steps from the property that you can go for a swim and it’s super refreshing! The owners John and Soledad are very nice and they will help you if you need to book any tours you’re interested in. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this place for anyone looking to get in touch with nature!

- Keeley (10/5): One of the best place we’ve ever stayed - Everything! Stunning location, beautiful rooms, delicious food and friendly helpful hosts.
- Neil (10/5): Great - Beautiful hotel, with the perfect balance of comfort but still feeling in the wilderness. The hammocks and sofas are great after a day of hiking, and the food was excellent. The sound of the birds and wildlife was wonderful

- Grace (10/5): exceptional - John and his family were so welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. the scenery was stunning and the food was great! we loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. no complaints
- Robert (10/5): - This is a wonderful B&B operated by a friendly and helpful couple, located in a scenic valley overlooking the Cangrejal River. The rooms are clean and comfortable and quiet. A wonderful breakfast, cooked by Soledad, is included, and one can opt to eat supper there too, home-cooked by Soledad and delicious. John is a fount of knowledge about the area, the country , and Central America in general, and can help to set up side trips such as white water rafting, hot springs massages, and tours. A wonderful place to escape to and to renew!
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erik (10/5): Lives up to the Reviews - La Villa de Soledad B&B does not disappoint! Everything said about John's knowledge and Soledad's cooking are absolutely true. They're both extremely welcoming, saying "our house is your house". They meant it and what a remarkable house it is. My girlfriend and I made sure to stay more than 1 night and were extremely glad we did.
I wasn't feeling great upon arrival. No problem, John graciously gave us a bottle of Pepto Bismol. We wanted a guide to take us through the jungle. No problem, John knows everyone in the area and had a private guide at the Villa the next morning. We wanted to go white water rafting another morning. Again, no problem! John made a call and got us all set up for the adventure.
We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Like everyone else, we strongly recommend La Villa de Soledad B&B!
- Khan (10/5): Unforgettable - I don’t usually write reviews even when I intend to do so. However, this place deserves a review and more.
My cousin and I booked a 2 nights stay and ended up staying for 7 nights. I cannot say enough about the hospitality that was extended to us.
John is such a great man! He’s always eager to share information and take care of your needs but he’s also a hoot when you catch him in his moments.
His wife, Soledad, is an absolute gem! She is so full of love and her smile lights up the room. Her cooking is HEAVENLY! Every meal, every time!
On our first night, my cousin and I asked what was for dinner. After our first taste, we never asked again. We just waited to be surprised!
The villa is beautifully built and designed. The pictures that are posted certainly don’t do it justice. Waking up in this paradise to the colorful hummingbirds, beautiful bird songs, and the rushing river felt right in every way.
We are still exploring Honduras and we have been trying to figure out how to squeeze one more night in with Soledad and John before we leave.
If you book here, you will not be disappointed at all! If you are, you can blame it on me. Yes, we loved it that much.
Thank you Soledad, John & family for the most amazing week we could have asked for. I can’t think of one thing that we did not like besides having to leave.
- Hadrien (10/5): Hidden gem - As the owner tell you as soon as you arrive, you definitely feel at home at this hotel! Very clean rooms, beautiful decoration, nice terrace with hammocks, pleasant garden, excellent breakfast and dinner. The owners are also very friendly and answer any question you would have! Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect jungle location teeming with birds and a view of the river from the terrace. We saw a toucans and hummingbird every day from our hammock.
Super friendly staff who really made an effort to chat (we communicated in half Spanish/ half English). Jessica’s food was delicious and we had dinner there every night. Maybe more information on local activities/trips
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tatiana (10/5): Enjoyed the place its charm, its peace and relaxed - location, vibe, architecture.. place really give you a sense of peace. nothing.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - An amazing place, beautiful, open home, with amazing views, lush, mountain surroundings, and incredibly friendly owners staff. This is so much better than staying in a hotel in La Ceiba. The national park is just a 5 minute walk away, with incredible hiking and many recreational options nearby. You and/or your family will love this place.
- Catlin (10/5): - Amazingly relaxing vibe. John & Soledad are super hosts. Coco the dog seals the deal.
- Jennifer (2/5): Hotel Owners Are Wrong - We drove 3 hours to the hotel and were turned away by the Honduran military in the mountains on the way to the hotel, about 3ish miles from the hotel. I immediately turned around and drove to the closest place that I could get cell service. I attempted to contact the hotel immediately, but there was no phone number listed on Hotels.com. I contacted Hotels.com and they advised me they could do nothing and to contact the hotel and gave me the phone number. I contacted the number via What's App, and several hours later, the hotel contacted me and said they could not refund me because they already charged me and my room was ready. I am a frequent traveler to Honduras and have never encountered this. The right thing to do would be to refund us because we were not able not reach the hotel, due to the military. We were forced to book another hotel because it was so late in the day and cold not drive three hours back due to curfew in the country.
- Brandi (10/5): - We love being able to get away and relax here. It has become a place of rest and refreshing for us. Thanks for the amazing hospitality. Can't wait to go back again soon.
- Laura (10/5): A TRUE EXCAPE - I traveled with a friend here back in January 2020. The villa was beautiful, and it was a true escape. John and his wife Soledad were amicable and catered to our every need. They offered to go in town to get anything we needed and educated us on the area. One night it rained so hard, and the noise hitting the villas roof was peaceful. It was so relaxing to not have any distractions and be able to truly enjoy Mother Nature. The scenery was beautiful and the vicinity was well kept and clean. My favorite part was Soledads cooking!!! It was nice to smell the cooking through the open wooded cabin style feel blinds. The food was tasty and delicious. The resort was also extremely affordable!
- gary (10/5): Great stay at La Villa de Soledad - La villa de Soledad was really an excellent experience.. Soledad is a great cook and took care of all our dietary needs. John is a great host and made sure everything was well taken care of. The Villa is well located and well priced with lots of activities nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great birdwatching, John draws on vast knowledge of the area to suggest local adventures, the location is great, food fantastic and its all wrapped in old world feeling charm
- BERNADETTE (10/5): Inn on the Mountain - We recently spent three nights at this beautiful Posada Rural- truly a special place to stay. The surroundings were quite stunning and like nothing we have experienced in the States.
The Inn is about 10 kilometers up a tropical mountain surrounded by amazing trees, foliage and flowers. We saw toucans, hummingbirds, stunning butterflies and the resident agouti.
The host, Soledad made sure our room was beautifully presented with a stunning show of flowers cut from her garden. Upon arrival we were offered a deliciously refreshing glass of fresh squeezed lemonade.
The food was delicious and made fresh daily. We loved the included breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee and eggs cooked to order. We opted to eat dinner there two nights and both meals were expertly cooked and reasonably priced.
The hosts, John and Soledad were available for us whatever we needed with recommendations and information about the area. John can arrange any tour that you would like, or you can opt to hang out and simply enjoy the beauty of the Inn and its gardens. The river is a short walk down the hill and we loved the morning we spent there. The views are stunning and the water cool and relaxing.
If you are in this area, I highly recommend that you visit this beautiful Inn on the mountain.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What is there not to like. This B&B is lush, hip, relaxing, beautiful, comfy, spacious and so much more. The proprietors could not be nicer. The food was outstanding. The rooms are well appointed. This place just feels like you are living in your own home. except it's in a lush jungle near a beautiful, picturesque river.
- Mary (10/5): - What a beautiful peaceful BB! Beautiful landscaping and wonderful hosts. This is up in the mountain next to the river. We were treated with a tasty drink. They don’t have a restaurant but guided us to where we could go which is a nice 20min walk up the road. You might get lucky and get Nina (the dog) as a guide. Breakfast was amazing. Good plate of fruit, tasty beans with eggs and toast. Fresh juice! We were always offered a ride up the road which was very generous. We wish we would’ve booked two nights. No Tv in the room and no AC. The room has beautiful doors and windows that let the night breeze cool you off. We slept great and the TV was not missed. Highly recommend this BB!
