• smeverhardt (10/5): The Perfect Big Sky Getaway - We had a wonderful time at Lone Mountain Ranch! It was a real Montana experience that made us feel like locals. Instead of standard hotel rooms, you stay in beautiful log cabins that are cozy, quiet, and a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Being able to reconnect with nature was such a treat, and even though it's only a few minutes from the heart of Big Sky & Big Sky Resort, the ranch still feels tucked away and private. The staff is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay one of a kind. The food is 5-star across the board. The best part was the Omakase dinner at the Auric Room; all ranch guests get a pass to the club, so definitely don't skip that. The quality and the whole vibe there were outstanding. The service is sharp and the setting is unbeatable!
• sbrodersen (4/5): Did not meet our expectations - overpriced and underdelivered - Very disappointed with our stay here. It didn't help that there was no snow at the resort itself so we could not cross country ski, it was a giant mud pit with loud ATV vehicles running around to bring people back and forth. In our cabin - Grayling - we felt like we were in a fishbowl - the ATV's go right past the windows. Also Grayling cabin was connected to Rainbow cabin and when our neighbors returned, we could hear every word they said. The Horn & Cantle restaurant was good - but overpriced. We had a nice dinner but For $1800 a night your stay should at least include breakfast. Our breakfast burritos were $100. I was able to go snowshoeing with a guide, which was a good experience. But having stayed at many luxury hotels and ranches, I can tell you this one is not worth the price - we ended up leaving a day early - $1800 down the drain.
• Experience409295 (6/5): Inconsistencies have brought property down... sadly! - I have stayed at LMR twice now and having communicated these challenges last time with no improvement my hope is that the owners of the this property - not the management - will take notice. This is a treasured property. It is one of the only properties in Montana with exquisite rooms, no tvs and a loving staff. Housekeeping and barn staff are stand-outs in the hospitality industry. However, there are so many misses, it's hard to return. LMR has a major F&B problem and also a significant front staff problem. I assume this stems from the GM because these people are genuinely incredible - they are dying to be trained well - and yet are left in the dust. The lack of communication among the Team makes for a tepid guest experience. Brass Tacks: Breakfast is included yet it is the SAME every day. Sugary yogurt, stale bread and the same scrambled eggs. Breakfast is a major miss at LMR - it could be full of life and healthy choices with fresh juices and Montana granola and huckleberries, etc. The staff is a mess in the morning, no soul, no greetings, barely there except to give you the check where you can add a tip. The front desk. Here are the phrases we heard many times: we're short staffed, I don't know, we're not here that early ( 9 am), oh, you didn't get your coffee?, I'll get someone else to help you, I don't know the computer, you should go to Ski Butlers to get your skis (we did, they are only a delivery service so had to run around town). One of our favorite things as a couple is the Cowboy Dinner Sleigh Ride. This time it was interrupted by a very loud - and I mean very - and very drunk guest at the table behind us. Except she wasn't a guest, she was the event planner for LMR! She had helped us before with a few things, but we were surprised that she would be permitted to get that drunk on property. Communication. No one told us you could have food delivered to the cabin (imagine how much more revenue Horn would make) in the two times we've visited. No one communicated the rules of the Speakeasy. No one told Yellowstone Dog Sledding that we would be there an hour after our time for a private booking. We emailed about a few things but because this person was off for a few days, never heard back. Shouldn't there be one shared email? The ice was so bad when we were there and NONE of the walk ways were scraped clean. It's so easy to make little paths. I get it. We live in MT - it's rugged. But to and from the cabins became perilous and so easy to fix. My fervent wish is that someone comes along like my husband and teaches these eager and friendly and lovely team members about hospitality, that someone gives LMR some consistency, some rules when it comes to staff, some coherence. It would be such a shame to see this beautiful place become a mere shadow of itself which is what is happening now. Even the local purveyors mentioned to us that LMR has high staff turn-around - and this usually stems from the top. I'm sorry to have to write this review and rarely do, but I love this ranch. If the above things wouldn't bother you, by all means, book it. Nothing is cozier than the LMR cabins, the property and the good energy there. If you want breakfast go to Cowboy Coffee, don't expect the Team to be tight on much and book your own adventures. Written with love for y'all, but $12k is a lot to spend for inconsistency.
• d_fanger (10/5): ★★★★★ An Authentic Montana Experience — Truly Exceptional - Our stay at Lone Mountain Ranch from March 6–9 was nothing short of magical. We travel frequently and have stayed at many luxury resorts around the world, but this experience stood out as one of the most authentic, warm, and memorable stays we’ve ever had. We stayed in the Bald Eagle One-Bedroom Cabin, tucked right along the creek and just a short walk from both the Horn & Cantle Restaurant and the main lodge. Waking up to the peaceful sounds of the water each morning felt incredibly special, and the cabin struck the perfect balance between rustic Montana charm and refined comfort. During our trip we skied at Big Sky Resort, enjoyed lunch at Everett’s 8800, and stopped by a few après spots on the mountain including the Iglu. But what made the trip truly unforgettable was the time we spent right at the ranch — dining at Horn & Cantle, enjoying cocktails in the Auric Room, gathering by the fire in the lodge, and celebrating with everyone at the lively Trapper’s Den cowboy après party on Saturday night. What truly makes Lone Mountain Ranch extraordinary is the people. From the moment we arrived, every team member treated us with such genuine hospitality. By the end of the weekend, it truly felt like we were among friends. Mak at the Outpost created a beautiful custom hat for my partner and even added some finishing touches to mine — such a fun and memorable experience. Menka, our concierge, curated our entire itinerary ahead of the trip and took incredible care of us throughout our stay. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail made everything seamless. We even gave her a hug goodbye when we left. Saskia at the front desk was equally wonderful, always ready to help with transportation and any day-to-day requests. Hamlet (“Hammy”), who picked us up from the airport and has been with the ranch for 30 years, shared incredible stories and knowledge about the Gallatin River Valley and Yellowstone that made our arrival feel like a personal introduction to the region. Joe at the Horn & Cantle bar was outstanding and made every evening there feel special — we wish him the best on his upcoming trip to Peru. And Robert in the Auric Room delivered such a warm and thoughtful experience that truly elevated our evenings at the ranch. There is something truly special about Lone Mountain Ranch. The setting is breathtaking, the experiences feel genuine and thoughtfully curated, and the hospitality is heartfelt in a way that is increasingly rare. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about returning in the summer — and eventually sharing this incredible place with our family for years to come.
• ronaldk495 (10/5): Love Lone Mountain Ranch! - This place is fantastic. It's our fourth time there, and except for LMR, we virtually never vacation at the same place more than once. The XC ski trails are wonderful, the staff are so incredibly accommodating and nice, the food is wonderful, ski lessons and kid activities are wonderful, and the cabins are outstanding. For this trip my extended family of 7 (including 2 grandparents, 2 parents, and children ages 3, 7 and 10) stayed in B_K. Previously my wife and I stayed in Ouzel. Both cabins were awesome. I know it's expensive, but it really is worth it in spades!
• 373melindan (6/5): One Glaring Weak Spot - Positives: the location, ranch amenities, the sleigh-ride dinner, cross-country ski clinic, and pre-visit concierge service. The food was phenomenal!! Negative: transportation management was SHOCKINGLY bad, especially at this price point. During our 5-night stay, they fumbled an airport pickup (an hour drive away) for two family members, who ended up taking an Uber to the ranch. Hospitality management reached out offering apologies and reimbursement, which we appreciated. Two days later we were left waiting for pickup from our dogsledding adventure for so long that all other guests were retrieved, and the crew packed up their gear and all of the dogs. Ultimately, the owner of Spirit of the North was kind enough to give us a ride back to Lone Mountain in his personal vehicle. Again, hospitality management was extremely apologetic and pro-actively set our pickup/retrieval times with pre-assigned drivers for the remainder of our stay. For our airport departure, and with the transportation manager's direct involvement, we were picked up on time, but our pre-ordered boxed lunches were nowhere to be found. We burned 20 minutes of travel time waiting for them to sort it out, but ultimately told them to skip the order because the road conditions were challenging and traffic expected to be slow. Fifteen miles from the airport, the manager admitted we would run out of gas before we got there, so we had to stop for gas! We arrived at the airport at 12:45 p.m. for a 1:30 p.m. boarding. It's too bad - one very weak spot in guest services took some of the shine off of what was otherwise a wonderful family trip. If I ever considered a future stay with Lone Mountain Ranch, I would bear the additional expense of securing my own transportation. I'm very hesitant to recommend it to anyone else.
• adamtC3422PH (10/5): LMR is the perfect hub for outdoor activities in Big Sky, offering the pinnacle of luxury and service - Magical stay at LMR. It was recommended to us by a family member. We stayed in the Lodgepole cabin, and really enjoyed the fireplace, record player, and soaking tub. We happened to come when the snow coverage wasn't great, but it was still more than adequate to enjoy some guided on-ranch XC skiing. We even were offered a shuttle to the top of a hill, enjoying a mostly gentle downhill groomed run on our classic skis with instructors (thanks Cole Ethan and Lilly!!!). Service at LMR is top notch. Need anything? Text them (they ran into town to pick up toothpaste for us). We enjoyed some off resort activities that they booked for us - fly fishing, and dog sledding with Spirit of the North. If you are a dog lover, this is a MUST. It is such a unique experience that pictures cannot do justice. Dining on ranch was as good as it gets. Horn and Cantle chefs are top notch, as are the wait staff. We had the best pork chop we've ever ever eaten. Their salads are wonderful, cocktails and live music some nights too. If you can swing it, their winter "discovery package" was very much worth it to us - included XC ski rentals, shuttles to/from airport and to big sky mountain, included bfast lunch and dinner, amongst other things. Coffee with your choice of milk is brought to your cabin porch every morning, which was wonderful. Hands down this was our most favorite vacation we have ever taken. It's perfect for the active couple, especially if you want to dabble in their extraordinary nordic ski trails.
• watchfulone (8/5): Pricy for the experience but it is a unique ranch vacation - There wasn’t much snow which clearly detracts from the experience but that’s the one thing they can’t control. The ranch is not as pleasant an environment as it was when it was still owned by a family before being sold to a corporate entity in 2013. It was almost magical before then. Your fires in fireplaces or wood stoves were kept going by people you never saw and at just the right burning rate. Back then the restaurant brewed its own root beer and the food was better with excellent cuts of meat from all the types of elk, deer, bison and other indigenous animals. The staff was dedicated because they were either family members or long term employees. The cabins had more charm with differing quilts in each room and outstanding maid service. Anything you needed they anticipated and provided. On this trip, it’s still a very nice place but no one keeps the fires burning nor did they put the sofa bed away every morning and pull it back out at night so there was no place in the cabin to congregate. The staff was primarily seasonal and they were everywhere. Why they needed so much staff is puzzling to me. The problem with all the temp staff is their lack of experience and knowing the ranch. All the staff was very pleasant though. The restaurant food is good but not much of the local fare. The bison was only available as ribs or in very spicy sliders. The elk was tough. Lunch sandwiches were pretty average. All cocktails and dishes were very overpriced. Think NYC prices. We took a snow coach into Yellowstone the first day and that was fabulous. There was plenty of snow there and our guide showed us things that many people never see in Yellowstone. We didn’t use the company that the ranch normally uses but they provided transportation for us Dogsledding the next day was not so great. There was too little snow on the mountain but that’s a different review. For our cross country skiing we had good instructors but it was too icy for most of us (party of 6, all adults). We took a long nature hike on our last day and it was a nice walk but no animals to see. Too many lights now on the ranch so it’s harder to enjoy the beautiful night sky. In general it lost a lot of its warm coziness and they added a gift shop - ugh! The sleigh ride dinner is not so good unless you really want some prime rib - the food was very good but the entertainment was over bearing and not so good. Even though our group was brought up on its own sled it was hard to leave when we wanted because they wanted us to stay through his sets. I will not plan to return because all in all it was overpriced for the experience. My family enjoyed it more than me probably because they don’t know what it cost. The photo is of the weird remodel that added a barn door to the master bath. There was not handle on the inside and it was free hanging making it awkward to ensure privacy in the bathroom.
• 37juliannak (10/5): A getaway experience with creature comforts and beauty all around. - A luxury vacation for sure, but the comfortable cabins, the great food, and the friendly staff who were available to help with whatever you might need, made it all worth while. Not to mention the beauty that is all around. This was the vacation of a lifetime for me, filled with memories that will last forever.
• daniellesS5927CV (10/5): Ridgetop Lodge Stay - We had a great experience overall at Lone Mountain Ranch. The views were immaculate, the cabin was wonderful. The staff was so friendly, kind, and helpful. The only downside that I wasn't aware of before our arrival, was that our cabin was up above most of the other cabins, and they do not allow you to drive your own vehicle on property, you have to leave it in a parking lot. For us, we couldn't walk to the parking lot and/or restaurant every time we left due to weather, and small children in our party. Even so, it would've been a long walk to make multiple times per day some days. So we had to wait for the staff to come pick us up, sometimes having to make 2 trips to accommodate our family size. The staff did so happily, however, it was mildly inconvenient on our end especially not knowing about it in advance. Overall, a great time & experience though!! I would definitely return.
• dlpogge (10/5): Almost perfect. - The setting is beautiful. The accommodations are first class. The only imperfections are three: First, there is only one place to eat if you do not have a car and cannot drive into town. The food there is very good and the services is excellent, but after a few days I found myself wanting a bit more variety. Second, most of the staff are very young people who are only going to be there a few months. They are nice, bright, enthusiastic, and sincere but they really do not know much about the ranch, the setting, or the hospitality business. This sometimes poses a problem when you are looking for answers or assistance. Not serious problems, but problems. Third, during the time my wife and I visited there were many activities that all of the guests were expected to attend. This was not clear when we made our reservations and we might not have gone had we known. We just wanted to be left to ourselves and did not seek to make friends and socialize. This almost seemed required. Not quite, but almost. If a period of time entails that sort of engagement with fellow guests it should be made very clear, as it significantly affects the quality of the experience. Otherwise, it was wonderful.
• G5267QOjustinw (10/5): The Only Place I Would Consider Staying - I spent 5 amazing days enjoying Lone Mountain Ranch. If you're on the fence on booking, do it! The service, care and attention to detail was fantastic. Every person that I interacted with was genuinely wonderful, and really made you feel welcome, and that they wanted you to enjoy your time there. Everyone was always smiling, and that truly brightened my days there. A number of the staff knew me by name by the time I left, and that really added the personal touch. Kudos! Brendan in the Lytle Bar greeted me right away while I was checking in with a delicious cocktail. He continued to mix up fun and tasty drinks throughout my time there. Savannah at the front desk was so kind and helpful with handling changes throughout the days and answering all of my random questions. The staff at the Horn & Cantle were a blast, and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. What a treat to get to eat there each day of my stay! Then slide over to the Saloon after dinner for some entertainment and a night cap. Incredible way to end each day! Saving the best for last, the Wrangler crew was absolutely incredible! They made sure that everyone was comfortable and safe throughout each horseback tour. The areas that we were able to explore on horseback are truly breath taking. I often found myself distracted by the scenery, and having to remember that I'm also on a horse and need to pay attention to that. However, Trigger did an amazing job taking care of me! Kylie did a fantastic job on the intro ride making sure everyone was paired with the correct horse and getting everyone comfortable with being on a horse. Lastly, and the highlight of my time there was my arena riding lesson with the incredible Kate! Her patience with me as I learned, and her genuine support and encouragement allowed me to find my mistakes and learn, to try things and not be afraid of failing. Or looking like an idiot! The things that she taught me in the course of my lesson heavily outweighed all that I have learned in the number of lessons I have taken at home. She's an accomplished equestrian herself, and an incredible instructor with a great gift of explaining how to do the things we worked on. All in all, an amazing week that really filled my cup! It was just what I was looking for!
• travelzod (8/5): The ranch has so much potential ....but ... - We spent three nights at Lone Mountain Ranch to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Overall, our stay was enjoyable, but there were definitely some hiccups that fell short of the expectations you’d have for a luxury resort. At this price point, you’d hope that every aspect of service would be consistently five stars. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The Horn and Cantle restaurant was truly exceptional. The food was outstanding, and the service from both the servers and bartenders was top-notch—easily the best part of our experience. We also loved the variety of activities offered, from horseback riding to archery to the high ropes course. Our group especially appreciated the wranglers and activity leaders, who were personable, knowledgeable, and made the experiences memorable. The biggest disappointment was the service at the Outpost—the hub for check-in, reservations, transportation, and purchases. Upon arrival, we walked into the front desk area and were not acknowledged at all. Check-in was disorganized, and after repeated requests, we were finally given our keys, but not without encountering rudeness from the staff. To make matters worse, our luggage was delivered to the wrong cabin and swapped with another couple. Communication from the transportation director was equally frustrating. We received urgent, late-night texts before our arrival (including one at 9:30 PM), which felt inappropriate and unnecessary. Throughout our stay, interactions at the Outpost lacked care and professionalism. Many staff members seemed young, inexperienced, and untrained for the caliber of service expected at a resort of this level. We also shopped at the Lone Mountain store, which advertises a cowboy hat bar. However, none of the staff were equipped or willing to assist with shaping or designing hats. One employee even mentioned she had a late night and didn’t have her supplies, which reinforced the sense of immaturity and lack of professionalism. For the price we paid (over $14,000), we expected consistent, five-star service across the board. While the activities and restaurant exceeded expectations, the Outpost staff fell far below them, dampening what could have been a flawless experience. I’d strongly recommend that management reevaluate hiring and training practices for the front desk and retail operations. The ranch has so much potential, but unless this critical area improves, guests will continue to feel that their investment doesn’t match the service delivered.

• Angela1011 (10/5): Epic solo adventure - What an epic solo adventure at LMR, in Big Sky, Montana for Cowgirl Up! Week. This was an experience beyond my wildest dreams. The story began in Bozeman, where I spent last Saturday night. The following morning I was picked up by Randy, the ‘legend’ and ‘bear guy’ from LMR. Randy has been with LMR for over 20 years and there’s not much he doesn’t know about his home land. Randy doesn't usually do hotel pick ups so I was honoured to have the pleasure of his company and impressive knowledge on the hour drive to the ranch. Knowing he did the Yellowstone tours, I traded him some Scottish tablet for a front row seat on his tour bus. Up before sun rise to watch the stars shoot across the sky from my cabin porch, a trail ride in the morning and afternoon was how I spent most of my days. Yellowstone midweek was a welcome break for my backside. My four legged friend for the week was old boy Slice. He’s the oldest of the LMR horses so was calm and steady on the trail rides and made me feel at ease on the narrow paths going up and down the glorious mountain side. The mountain range views and fall colours were breathtaking. Bursts of green, orange and yellow everywhere. The bright sun and clear skies every day made for perfect trail rides. Ain’t nothing better than the sound of horses hooves on the ground, a flowing creek and wildlife just going about their business. No vehicles and no devices, just the wilderness in all its glory. And glorious it was. Slice, a mama bear and her two cubs, bison, elk, chipmunks and Old Faithful was all the entertainment needed. No book, no headphones and no iPad was required, just my eyes and my ears. A few people to say thank you …. Monica Ellis - I don’t know how you do it but I’m in complete and utter awe. I thought I was organised but you, for sure, take the hay. You knew every ladies name and their horse. You were there at the crack of dawn making sure the horses were ready for the day ahead, still around at night making sure we were all booked in for our rides the following day and no-one did the same trail route twice. All this, and the smile never left your face. Thank you. Payton and Minka - thank you for looking after us cowgirls and for the most awesome trail rides. Randy - thank you for the ride to LMR. Never stop educating those around you. Keep reading and drinking coffee. The girls in The Outpost - thank you for your patience with my hat design and branding almost everything I own. We came without our very young kids, but we can't wait to bring them when they're older. The cabin was lovely and furnished well. Listening to the sound of the stream out the window each evening was so relaxing. The food at the Horn and Cantle & the rodeo was phenomenal. The activities were well planned, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We thought the Yellowstone tour with McCabe was fantastic - he was a very knowledgeable guide. We loved the horseback rides, archery, and fly fishing. My parents took me to LMR when I was 8 years old, and it was amazing to rediscover it and return in my 30's. We will be back!

Last year, we stayed in a duplex (didn't love it) and this year we were in Aspen-which was fantastic. The days are packed with fun activities outdoors with professional wranglers and guides. The evenings are spent at the Horn & Cantle which is a top-notch restaurant or the family BBQ which was a change of pace and fun. All surrounded by gorgeous views. I found the staff to all be quite friendly and professional. A special shout-out to Taylor and Jess in the Outpost, Wranglers Nina, Natalie and Peyton, Will who seemed like he was everywhere, and Ava, Bella and Robert in the H&C. Can't wait for our next visit.

The attention to details for setting up and planning the trip was excellent, very attentive to what we were interested in and what activities we were looking to do. The highlights, the food was good, we ate at the saloon for dinners and the live music was a nice ambience. The horse wranglers and all the barn staff were very helpful and attentive. They ensured that we were safe and that we were comfortable ridding the horses. The trip to Yellowstone was enjoyable, as the guide was very knowledgeable about it. We had a small group which was nice and allowed us to decide on where and what sights to see. The cabin was quiet and the sound of the creek was a nice touch. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job maintaining the cleanliness of the cabin and the sweet treats, cookies, chocolates and truffles was a pleasant surprise to find every night when we returned back to the cabin. The transportation being included within the package was a key factor for us to stay at LMR. The pickup and travel to the ranch was fine, our driver was on time and very friendly. We were the only couple in the car, so we had private transport to the ranch. For our transportation back to the airport when we were checking out, that did not go as smoothly. Just with the current issues happening within the airports, we had assumed we were going to have ample time to arrive at the airport. The ranch informed us that they gave us a 3 hour window based on our flight departure time, not boarding time, for when we leave the ranch. When we inquired about this, the staff told us that was the time and that there were no other drivers available if we needed to leave earlier. There was no flexibility on finding another option to leave earlier or to make changes. The trip was relaxing, up until we left, with the uncertainty of making our flight created a stressful situation for us.

We did have a small hiccup with our cabin, but it was handled graciously and resolved quickly. Now that we’re back home, we’re already counting the days until we can return.

The attention to every detail makes it a stress free vacation for the entire family. The pre arrival concierge calls along with emails of itinerary options were so helpful. After arrival, the text communication for any and all services was easy and always prompt with a response. We participated in numerous on property activities such as Axe throwing, archery, ropes course, and horse back riding. As well as off property for fly fishing. The easy transportation to and from the airport and Big Sky was also a pleasant addition. The wranglers were kind and patient. Great, easy going demeanors. The child care staff were excellent and always seemed eager to see the kids and into their jobs. They provided fun activities that were age appropriate everyday for our 8 year old son. The Rodeo was a family hit and we all loved it! The food at H and C is wonderful. Service is very slow however and can be hard with a younger child. Go earlier and it moves faster! Cabins were clean and the housekeeping service was excellent. Loved the morning coffee delivery. I do agree with another reviewer stating that snacks should be replenished during the week.

The place is set in a valley surround by mountains and wildlife is everywhere. We saw so many different animals. Joe the manager is great and very helpful and kind. Upon check in they did great. I had such great interactions with Corinna and Taylor. Jake and Pearce served us at the restaurant and we truly enjoyed both of them. Jake is very knowledgeable with wine and we really enjoyed our conversations. Will took care of our luggage when were got there and he was everywhere. That guy worked his butt off and was the most kind good person. He was so helpful with everything. Logan who was the head wrangler this year was so sweet and kind. We love her. She did a wonderful job. We had Payton and Owen for a few of our rides and they were so good too. EVERYONE WAS GREAT! The food was great. Every morning they left coffee of our choice on the porch. The cabins were super clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job. We had a drain issue and an air conditioning issue and both were fixed promptly. Everything was close enough to walk to. We did the ropes course and the guys were great as well. My only wish would be that they had some type of fitness center with some dumbbells, kettlebells, etc. There is plenty of walking and hiking trails but some stuff for stretching and anaerobic would make this place over the top. Overall this place was fantastic. They matched a horse with each of us and we rode the same horse all week which was really nice. Once the horse got to know you it was even more fun. We missed the rodeo but we went to the BBQ and line dancing and had a blast. Whomever leaves this place a bad review has some other issues. We are going back over New Years and booked for next June as well. I generally only stay at a very high end place and I thought this place was great. If you want great family fun this is the place. Great food, Great accommodations, great people, great everything.
• Drewbage13 (8/5): Excellent with a few rough edges - The context for this review is their room rate - which is at the high end of luxury. Our family had a great time and we would recommend the experience to others as it is way more varied than just a regular downhill ski vacation. But I don’t think it rose to the standard that I expected for the cost- having stayed at places at similar rates. Grounds: Amazingly spectacular. Even when it was dumping snow it was beautiful. Great views etc Activities: A+. XC skiing and snowshoeing opportunities were limitless. Equipment available for use was top notch/new. Horses readily available for pets from excited kids. Lack of advertised carrots was a major disappointment to my kids however. Food: Horn & Cantle is a really good restaurant. The staff are super pleasant and accommodating. My only suggestion would be to vary the menu a little from day to day. Staring at the exact same menu or buffet items for five days in a row gets a bit stale. Great ambience in the dining room. Service: Mixed bag. We got some folks who fully engaged in rolling out the welcome mat and went above and beyond, but others who gave off the vibe that they’d almost rather be anywhere else and/or disinterested. Consistency here is something that top notch places really focus on. Pet peeve- turndown service…..great but coordinate it with the cabin’s dinner reservation, don’t show up at 5pm. Transportation: Easy getting to and from the ranch and then to and from the ski area. Only gripe would be to make sure the inside of the vehicles are relatively clean/organized. Leftover trash from the group before you doesn’t feel appropriate to the price point. Some drivers helpful with loading your gear - some let you handle it yourself. Everything ran on time. Cabins: We stayed in Aspen up on the hill. Amazing view and big windows. First the good. Super comfy mattresses. Heated bath floors. Nice decor. Supplied with board games. Spacious feeling accommodation. Morning coffee delivery. The not so good: their thing is record players ilo TVs. Love it…if the record player works. We told them it wasn’t working, someone tried to fix it but then they clearly just gave up. Never worked. The air is very dry at that altitude so humidifiers are a must. They have them, but they have clearly not been cleaned in a long time. Smelly humidifiers or ones with white crusties are never a good sign. Should be disinfected at every cabin turn. Fit and finish is not what I would expect for the price point- understanding the rustic log cabin vibe. Wobbly toilet, leaky shower, slow drains, missing covers/pulls, loose tile trim. Nothing bad, but just not what I would expect. Agree with the other comment about wanting dressers ilo wardrobes. Two wood stoves in our cabin. One worked great. The other smoked us out of our bedroom as the flue was either blocked or partially closed. Room was stocked with snacks when we arrived that we were told would be replenished. They were not. There was a nice little bar area with an electric tea kettle…but nowhere to plug it in except a floor outlet which doesn’t work with kids around. Small detail but one that matters. The cabin was quite clean…except when you looked up. Cobwebs and dusty light fixtures / windows took the shine off for me a bit. Again something that should be addressed at every guest turnover at this price.

No detail is missed in providing a special and unforgettable stay - from the morning coffee deliveries and sweet notes, to the evening specialty chocolates and treats - they think of everything! We renewed our vows for our 10th anniversary and Tammy worked hard to make sure everything was perfect! The Horn and Cantle, Saloon, and Auric Room are first class and provide not only amazing food, but top notch customer service! The employees of every part of the ranch love working there and it really shows! Beautiful cabins, great food, friendly people, horses, elk, and stunning nature all around! Perfection! We will most definitely be back - a piece of my heart lives there now ❤️
• LightPacker727329 (6/5): Could've been a five star! - Great time visiting LM. Food, dining, staff and accommodations were superb. Would rate them all a 5 star. So why an overall 3 star rating you ask. The gist of my trip was to XC-ski to my heart's content. With over 50+ miles of groomed trails this was the place to be. Trails were well groomed though there was one spot where a sizable log was hanging over the tracked part of the trail - one would have to be 3 ft or less to get under it! Now to why the low rating- signage, signage, signage!!! I printed out a map ahead of time to get an idea of where I wanted to ski. Upon adventuring I found the trails to be poorly marked. Names of trails are of no use when the names don't match the map. There are very few intersections with numbers posted even though numbers are on the map. In one instace the sigh showed Beaver Slide to the right yet the map showed to the left! There is an app you can download that will show where you are on the trails. I am there to ski - not to have to pull out my phone to see where I am. No fun having to take off gloves in -23 degree and check an app. It was also mentioned about QR codes coming - same issue - I don't want to have to be using my phone! There should be trail maps available at the Outpost. There should be trail maps at the intersections showing "you are here" or at the very least have numbers that correspond with the map numbers. I was told better signage is coming - hopefully these are some ideas you will consider when doing so

Cabin was great, and the food and Horn and Cantle was amazing. They used to give out welcome baskets which had carrots to feed the horses. For some reason they do not offer them anymore which my kids were a bit disappointed about. Other than that the trip was fantastic

We stayed in the Bald Eagle cabin for 3 nights in January on the ranch, and it was like staying in a winter wonderland. This place is magical. The staff were excellent and first class all the way. They had great accommodations, blending modern conveniences with rustic Montana vibes. We really enjoyed not having a tv in our cabin, but a record player instead. We took advantage of the included Nordic skiing, snow shoes, and carrots to feed the horses and goats. They also have a new Cigar Cabin that was great. We did the Sleigh Ride dinner one evening and it was also extremely magical. The price was well worth it. I think bringing kids 10 and up would do well at this dinner, but kids younger than that would be challenging. Overall we can’t recommend this place enough!
• 939cicelyj (10/5): Our Number 1 Vacation is our Lone Mountain Ranch Vacation - Our family had never visited Montana (and I will admit that we had watched too much Yellowstone which was our motivating factor for visiting Montana) and we conducted significant research before we selected Lone Mountain Ranch. I highly recommend that you consider Lone Mountain Ranch for your stay. We had a party of seven and we stayed at the B-K cabin. Before arrival, we were concerned that the pictures were not align to the "aesthetics" of the cabin. Thankfully, we were wrong and the cabin was AMAZING. It was spacious to accommodate all of us including bathrooms and we enjoyed several nights of games during our visit. Additionally, we loved using the fireplace, we CONSTANTLY had a fire blazing, and we appreciate concierge taking our requests for more wood and getting us tools. If you love food like our family does and love new food adventures, your family will love the saloon/restaurant too. In particular, we loved the morning staff (who was the same staff every morning) because the staff was very personable and welcoming (thank you). Again, the food was amazing (breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they will accommodate all food allergies and accommodate all of your needs) and we experienced all the specials (Lone Mountain Ranch, thank you for your creative and talented culinary staff). Also, the sleigh ride dinner was an amazing experience which I will not spoil for anyone but I doubt that this curated experience can be duplicated in my opinion. Lastly, I recommend that you experience all that the ranch has to offer - nordic skiing guided tour and snow shoe guided tour on the ranch. Concierge also assisted with other activities and I am appreciative of their services. My main goal was to relax and not stress about anything for a week and the Lone Mountain Ranch concierge exceeded my expectations and it was nice to enjoy a vacation where customer service was the number priority (instead of just talk). Sincerely, Lone Mountain Ranch, thank you for our number 1 vacation to date (and we have had international experiences too). I have a bucket list of other vacations to take but I may consider another trip to Lone Mountain Ranch.

Accommodations were excellent and cozy...could use a couple of dressers instead of armoires in the cabin we had (Coyote) and more clothes/towel hooks in bathrooms. Service was outstanding!
• 358garyp (10/5): A great long weekend with my wife - A very memorable, thoroughly enjoyable, long weekend with my wife at Lone Mountain. This is my 3rd time in Montana and I've stayed at other 'high end' ranches but I have to say I really loved the authenticity and relaxed vibe of this place. The cabin's were very well appointed (that bath towels were amazing!!) and each one has their own vinyl record player which was a nice touch. The food and drink were excellent with a nice selection of steaks, game meat and fish. Breakfast was a highlight with a very nice buffet with real maply syrup; a la carte options included a breakfast burrito that my wife absolutely loved and was cooked perfectly. The staff is amazingly friendly and nice and everything is just so relaxed. I went fly fishing on the Madison, my wife went hiking, and we both did line dancing one night during a special BBQ night (they had a band that I swore had to be professional as they were so so good!). Really just a great experience and kudo's all around to Lone Mountain!

I ride every where we vacation but I have never had wranglers/ guides that were so knowledgeable and took so much time & care with the inexperienced riders in our group. We plan to return again next year & maybe every year after that.
• 74makih (8/5): Great Experience - Went here for a girls trip and what a fantastic experience. The activities were fun and well organized and we got to do everything we wanted. The food was good, especially the meats, but there were some misses with undercooked potatoes and fish. The grounds were gorgeous and it was nice to kick back and relax. We talked about coming back here with our kids and husbands. Minus one star for one of our drivers talking about Trump. We’re from California, c’mon, we despise the guy. Aside from that all of the service people were fantastic from the waitstaff to our drivers.

The history is wonderful coupled with the luxurious remodeled cabins. The restaurant is fabulous on site along with the new speakeasy and rodeo. The Concierge is wonderful and will connect you with everything adventure you’d wanna do in big sky area, including Lone Mountain, private tour of Yellowstone. I love all the activities on site. You can do with a naturalist such as archery, high ropes, course and many more. Again, we vacation a lot and enjoy adventure with luxury. We have only repeated this vacation and will definitely go back.

The entire ranch was so incredibly beautiful. The horn and cantle restaurant and the saloon had amazing food and drinks. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The entire experience was amazing. The rodeo was so fun and we received an amazing family photo taken there with lone mountain in the background. We had guided hikes. We did archery and axe throwing and horseback riding. It was one of the best family vacations we’ve ever had.

The Horses and trail riding absolutely an amazing experience and the views breathtaking. The food and drinks were delish. Morning coffee at your door was a treat and turn down treats were an added surprise. Rodeo and line dancing on site was so much fun. Looking forward to a winter return to experience another season.

We loved our cabin "Blue Spruce", big enough, well appointed and sat on a stream so you could hear the water at night when the windows were open. The grounds, surrounding areas, horseback riding, and the willingness of staff to accommodate our every was outstanding. And we loved the food, it was an 11. We were on the discovery package so almost all the activities were included, and as much food as you can eat. Magical!

Fantastic restaurant with chef and delicious food on site. Saloon to quench your thirst. So many fun and adventurous activities on site and around the ranch to do. Great for couples of all ages, groups of friends, and families of all ages. Such a wonderful place.

Amazing experiences, the scrnary is unmatched, all the staff was fantastic! Elevated dining every evening, this was a once in a lifetime kinda trip! • O8388KJgracef (10/5): You will not be roughing it on this ranch!! - The best 5 days ever!! The all exclusive package was well worth it. The food was outstanding! The activities, cabins, amenities and all the staff at this ranch exceeded our expectations! Coffee on our doorstep every morning! Lots to do, but also a great place to just relax. Our guided tour of Yellowstone was unbelievable!

We tipped everyone and if we knew about the gratuity fee being included we would have not tipped. We did enjoy our stay and just be aware of all the extra fees and taxes that get charged. It’s a beautiful place!!!

However, I booked a two night stay through hotels.com, and was informed after I checked in that I would have to check out the next morning because they were closing. Due to the price of finding another place to stay on the same day, I just cut my ski trip short and went home. I have yet to be reimbursed for the night I was unable to stay, despite talking to two people at LMR and one person at hotels.com customer service. And now

Tons of activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing etc. on the property. Excellent hospitality (morning coffee delivered to your cabin, luggage service).

• Michael (10/5): A True Winter Wonderland - The Ranch is beautiful. It was not clear where to check in, but once you entered the Outpost building, everything was there. VERY cordial staff in a beautiful surrounding. The cabins are incredible, complete with a woodturning fireplace or stove. There was a welcome basket in our room complete with a bag of carrots to feed the horses! Dinner at the Horn and Cantle was incredible and do not miss the Sleigh Ride dinner. What a magical place!

• Verified traveler (4/5): - We were made to feel by all the staff that every other guest on the property was more important than us. We were celebrating a very special occasion, but we were treated as if we were a nuisance. From check-in, where the receptionist was visibly annoyed that she needed to assist us, to being ignored by the hostess as the restaurant where we had a dinner reservation, we were made to feel like chopped liver. It was awful. There were many other mishaps in terms of the service we received that I would be happy to discuss with the property manager, because I know that they would not want their guests to feel unwelcome as we were. On a positive note, our cabin was wonderful, we loved the coffee delivery, and the property beautiful.
• Verified traveler (6/5): OK stay, not safe practices during a pandemic. - The property was great, the area was amazing, the horse ride was so beautiful and the staff were all super nice. That said, the room was surface clean, all surfaces were clean, but I had a hard time breathing in there, the spaces under the beds had such a thick layer of dust the wood was barely visible. It was no wonder we had a hard time breathing in there. We ended up sweeping the room and spraying it down ourselves. Honestly, we lived with it, but if you have severe asthma, probably not the best place to stay. The place was really a nice place to stay, but not a single staff member had a mask on, which meant zero guests had masks on, and there was no distancing at all. They supplied masks, and had made changes like no turn down service, but there was zero safe distancing practices from staff and zero mask wearing so it totally defeats the purpose. It was really concerning that they would put guests and staff members at risk like that. We wanted a break from COVID lockdown but it wasn’t a relaxing experience because we were told they had taken measures to “be safe” before we went there, but in reality it was the most unsafe we’ve felt in months of lockdown. We ended up pretty much locking ourselves in the cabin outside of some distanced activities outside. If a safe getaway during the pandemic is what you’re looking for, this isn’t it. That said, it was a nice resort, with great staff, and a great property. But overall, the experience landed us at an “OK.”
