• Caroline (6/5): In & out and straight forward ! - The staff were very friendly , The place could do with a freshen up with paint inside …. but the overall of facilities was good . I enjoyed my experience… although updating the Female dorm would be nice ….why not make it amazing ….. id be back if they made it a tad more decorative and better bunks :) i Loved the location:) and the Music facilities :)

• White (1/5): - Nothing Rude Steve, no repose when you phone them, refusal to call a manager, changed my booking to restricted, they went into my back and took the room reservation full fee, then refused to give it back stating that it is a cancellation fee for the room and it was not what I asked for. Very disappointed with the level of professionalism and theft.

• P (8/5): A friendly, lovely place offering fab value for money - Staff were hugely welcoming and informative. The facilities are really great and exceeded my expectations of a hostel. Location - also excellent - so proximate to Brixton station etc (just a short walk). Room was great. Bed was massively comfortable - shockingly so - I'm middle-aged - so being able to say that, is a bigger deal. I could envisage staying here again and for longer than a night. I liked that the hostel was connected to a pub and gig venue - it was buzzing (as we say in Wales). And if you're looking for a quiet night of sleep, well you'll get that too - the music faithfully stops according to the gig schedule. All round perfect. The bathroom - probably as clean as one is going to get for a shared hostel bathroom but I'm being honest, I didn't like the bathroom! But let's get everything into perspective - this hostel offers a lot for very little £. Would I stay here again? Absolutely yes I would.

• Anasmemala (7/5): - Value for Money option compared to other hostel options in London. Public parking was available for limited hours during night but by morning its pay to park. Sainsburry was very next to the hostel and ready to eat meal options if needed, especially for India Travellers. The party was very active at the ground pub and it was an youngsters party. Secure locked rooms. The staff didnt give me any info about street parking. I parked with bit of confusion, but was okey. The hostel building was old, but it served my purpose and was affordable. Good for the value I paid.

The hostel is above a bar. The noise and music last till 3am on Friday. No fan is available. No locker inside the room. The guest has to enter and leave through the backdoor. The building has no lift. It is old fashioned. Needs a refurbishment!

• Angie (8/5): 7 - My second time staying here. Great location, great kitchen, nice staff. Beds are very comfortable. Lots of stairs and codes and doors, but that’s for security of the guests. The bathroom, showers and sinks are a bit dated. Would need refurbishing. It’s a bit noisy at weekends but that’s ok, because there’s also some good live music nights, and for the Hostel’s guests its free.

• Michelle Carroll (10/5): Personally, an excellent stay, but make sure to read the description before booking! - The staff, amenities, and venue were excellent. If I had any questions or needed any help with using any utilities like the washing machine, a member of staff was there to help me and I greatly appreciate that. I've always wanted to visit a hostel that not only has a plethora of amenities, like the Sainsbury across the street or the short walk to central Brixton, but also has a lively bar and nightclub on the first floor. The events on the week I visited even had free admissions for everyone that booked for the hostel that week. For the low price of staying at Hootananny Hostel, I'm very happy to say I had a great time visiting this hostel. I had no issues with the hostel, but I will note that the description says everything about what to expect for booking at an economically affordable hostel. After reading the description for the hostel, I understand that booking a room that's located above a nightclub which usually plays loud music for much of the night may not be preferrable for some visitors, but that isn't the case for me, and if I had any issues with the hostel, I'm willing to believe that they would be sorted well by the staff.
• Jones (8/5): - Lovely staff, plenty of facilities and nice location. The best hostel I've personally stayed at. Love the free earbuds considering the location haha. Was given a towel too, very hospitable. One toilet had vomit in there and another urine on the floor however it was cleaned next time I went plus plenty of toilets there anyway. The ONLY suggestion I would have going forward would be installing curtains on the beds to allow some privacy

• Yvonne (10/5): Very nice expérience - Very nice stay. Interesting people and happy to find people of all ages. Comfy sitting room and a large kitchen. Microwave and hob which was useful. The toilet was far from the bedroom which was a bit difficult during the night. The bedrooms were a good size. Security was good and it felt safe. Music venue which was great. Went to a concert which was free.

• Ms J K (7/5): Good value, especially for Brixton / Brockwell Park. - Good value, great location for Brixton / Brockwell Park etc, with the centre of London easily accessible if wanted. Friendly staff. Nice little balcony. I had assumed the noise would be horrific but it really wasn't (a little bit bassy). I just don't like 'open' dorms i.e. beds with no privacy, but I knew what I was booking, and showering was a little tricky (cramped with no lock or place to hang your stuff). Essentially, it wasn't ideal but I absolutley wouldn't moan for the price and other people can weigh up their own prioritites. Probably best to make it clear you need to strip the beds before someone's rushing off at the end of their stay though!

La cocina no estaba muy limpia. Habian avisado pero es verdad que hay bastante ruido del Pub de abajo.

• Valentina (8/5): Great place to crash a few hours - This place saved my life while I was queuing overnight for a gig in Brixton which is not exactly the safest place on earth. When arrived at the hostel we realised it was on top of a club (it was already communicated though the booking confirmation) so a very fun environment! It can be a problem for a lot of people but we only needed a place to crash for a few hours so we didn’t mind. They provide earplugs too if you want some silence. Overall it was a good place, it’s pretty clean and tidy and it wasn’t too busy either. Price is great too. Nothing

• Floortje (9/5): Fantastisch! Vriendelijk personeel en leuke locatie! - Uitstekend hostel, leuke locatie en onwijs vriendelijk personeel. Ligt vlakbij Brixton station, is zo'n 10 minuten wandelen. Het inchecken ging soepel, de kluisjes waren netjes en de bedden lagen prima. Er zit gratis ontbijt bij en een kluisje is inbegrepen! Fantastisch! Weinig om op aan te merken, de douches waren alleen niet altijd even schoon.
• Ícaro (9/5): - The place is really cute and in a nice location in the neighborhood of Brixton. There is a bar a concert house in the same property that adds a party vibe to it. The staff is wonderful and was very cooperative, I was treated very well. Definetely a good place to stay for your 1st time in London. Also there is a big supermarket outside which makes it very convenient. It is not exactly close to the main tourist attractions in the city center (Big Ben, Buckinghan palace, etc). The bus is almost 1 hour but the metro is faster (around 30 minutes).

• esther (4/5): No duermas aqui, por favor :) - Me gustó mucho el precio y la atención de los empleados y que incluyera un pequeño desayuno. El lugar está sucio, los sartenes, las ollas estan llenas de grasa. Para moverte por la hostal debes subir y bajar muchas escaleras, los casilleros disponibles son MUY pequeños y no te cabe ninguna mochila, por lo tanto, debes dejar tu maleta o mochila sin candado en la habitación. Yo llegue a dormir un sábado y el ruido de la terraza del bar que está abajo era insoportable incluso con tapones de oídos. Ninguna área común va bien.
