Guest Reviews
- Patricia (8/5): Property looks newly renewed but staff needs to be trained. - Breakfast was not great. The front desk told us when we checked in that breakfast started at 6 AM on week days.
Both my husband and I made a mental note of it. We went down at 6:15 and the breakfast attendant told us that it did not start til 6:30. We waited. Coffee was awful - must have sat in pot all night. Grits were cold. Containers that contained nuts, choc. chips, etc. were almost empty and looked very dirty. Bacon was not cooked enough.
Attendant was nice but did not seemed to have been trained. Front desk attendant in the AM was not friendly at all. She seemed annoyed that I wanted help. I gave her the key - she tossed it in the box. I told her there were a couple of problems that I wanted to report. One was the shelf in the shower that was falling and the front of cabinet holding the bathroom sink looks terrible. She did not take note of any of this.
Entrance needs better signage. We didn't realize it was the entrance. We drove all the way around the property and decided that that was the only possible entry.
There was no "Do not disturb" sign to put on the door.
- monica (8/5): - Front desk greeting Price
- Carol (9/5): I was impressed with all the amenities. - Needed a Kitchenette
- James (4/5): Facilities good. Management poor. - TV didn't work. Took a couple of days to get it fixed. Asked for room cleaning service. Took a couple of days and had to ask twice.
No soap in shower dispenser. Left a note, but it was ignored.
- michael (10/5): -
- Camellia (10/5): Bed not too soft or too hard! Peaceful - They had a kitchen with full size fridge, dishwasher, two eyed stove top, microwave etc all the fixings for a studio apartment either a comfy sofa and spacious desk with plenty of storage! The kick back thing on the door for safety.
- bethmG1979OJ (2/5): Found roaches the first night. - This hotel has roaches. At first glance it looks clean, but almost every surface has visible finger prints and residue. Brought up the roaches and they moved me to the room over. It’s also an extremely loud location as it is right by a freeway.
- Ginn (1/5): - Never got to stay , the room was unavailable and I have yet to receive a refund
- Anita (5/5): -
- Kelvin (10/5): -
- 166eileena (6/5): Clean Room, But Common Areas and Service Disappointing - Although the hotel room appears recently renovated and our room was clean, the overall experience left us with an uncomfortable feeling. The lobby, patio, and exit door glass were dirty, and trash on the lobby floor was not picked up. We also noticed chicken bones scattered on the patio and trash left outside a guest’s room for more than 24 hours.
When we arrived, someone was sitting at a table in the patio area with a blanket over their head smoking a cigarette on a 75-degree day, which was odd and unsettling. We later learned the person was an employee.
Our new TV did not work with the old remote that was held together with tape. Maintenance could not resolve the issue. The front desk staff were not always welcoming. As mentioned in other reviews, breakfast was minimal compared to other Marriott Hotels.
The hotel did provide 3,000 reward points for the TV issue, which we appreciated, but overall we would not stay here again.
- Salas (10/5): - Great service 👏 9
- Jermaine (10/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): Comfortable room with a 12 noon check out and in contrast facilities in need of repair or upgrade. - Did not go to the breakfast as we got in late and slept in. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. However, the facilities overall appeared worn and in need of repair or upgrade. Carpets were dirty and needed vacuuming. Despite the staff being friendly, the one member was training and it took a while to get checked in; it was late and we were tired. Free waters and snacks were not offered but waters given when I asked.

- r0naldme (10/5): DON'T LISTEN TO ANY OF THE BAD REVIEWS... RECOMMENDED - This hotel is rated 4.3 of 5 but looking at the reviews, I was surprised by some of the bad reviews that said poor breakfast, small kitchen, and or "I am a Marriot Rewards member, and this is worst Marriot property i've ever stayed at (blah, blah, blah)."
Give me a break.
This hotel with a price point around $100 is nicely located around retail and things to do, has a breakfast with some hot food items, has a grilling area with a Weber Genesis grill, was remodeled in 2024, and as a mini kitchen with adequate utensils, and a full size refrigerator.
I'm not sure what you expect for $100-ish but for me, this place knocked it out of the park
- Childers (8/5): Nice - Roomy Bed saggy
- Shana (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (7/5): It was comfortable - Overall the stay was comfortable. The breakfast and the location was a plus. The problem was not getting room service for our complete stay. We had to ask for more towels but had to take the dirty ones to the front desk We had to pile the trash we used grocery bags in our room, I didn't like leaving it that way. No staff knew how to fix the TV, we figured it out on the 2nd night
- Chyna (10/5): -
- Jaidyn (9/5): the room was extremely comfortable and clean! staff were nice and their breakfast was great. -
- Moore (9/5): -
- Jamaal (10/5): -
- Fabiana (10/5): - The room is extremely pleasant, well maintained, and very clean. The bed is comfortable, and the atmosphere creates a real sense of rest. The breakfast is very good, with nice options to start the day. Excellent for a peaceful stay.
- Kellee (8/5): -
- Driving s. Laura (8/5): Laura O - Easily check in and check out. Good location. Comfortable room. The breakfast was not the greatest.
- Bridgette (10/5): Laid back and smooth - Nice and clean I liked it
- Joe (10/5): We would stay here again. - Good location, ease of reservation, good breakfast. Traffic in and out of lication
- Hattie (1/5): - My reservation was canceled , so wasn't able to give you an answer, I am sure your suites are very nice, I have stayed with you before,,thanks for asking
- Ronald (10/5): -
- Quellas (3/5): Clean room,Double Charged after checkout - The room itself was clean and comfortable. I was double charged after checkout. I contacted the front desk and was told the manager would process a refund within 24 hours after I sent my credit card information. After a full week, I still had not received the refund.
I eventually had to contact Booking.com to resolve the issue. This experience was frustrating, and the front desk handling of the situation felt unprofessional.
- Joyce (10/5): - It was very clean Everything was good
- Sabrina (7/5): Over all I will stay here again - Only one night here but was good and comfortable Breakfast could have been a bit better
- Joyce (10/5): - They stay was great Everything was great
- Charles (8/5): - At least they had two elevators. Lobby and halls were dirty.
- India (8/5): -
- Mr.Nelson (10/5): - It was cozy and clean Had A Issue With The TV Had To Move Into Another Room.
- Lamar (10/5): -
- Tonia (10/5): -
- demetro (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent Nothing I didn’t like.
- DAJUANA (10/5): - The room and the way it was set up. N/A
- Susan (10/5): We enjoyed our stay . The room was super nice with a kitchen area (full fridge) . Beds were comfortable. And the lightin - Location . Staff was extremely polite and helpful . In a safe part of town with easy access to multiple restaurants and shopping . Not one thing .
- michael (10/5): -
- Corey (10/5): -
- Jethro (9/5): One night stand - Shower liner is too short
- thomas (8/5): Stay was real good we were comfortable. The only issue was your toilet is not suitable for senior citizens. - Everything Kindergarten toilet
- CGSMOM (6/5): Recent complete remodel. Lots of road noise. Lack of attention to detail on housekeeping. - I really wanted to like this hotel. The front desk staff, especially Shelly and Camila, were kind and helpful. The hotel had been recently renovated, so the beds and furniture were very comfortable. However, even after being placed in a “quiet room” on the top floor, away from elevators, the road noise kept me awake (even wearing ear plugs and using a noise maker).
Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. The coffee maker in room was filthy. I used four Lysol wipes cleaning sticky grime off the top of it. The shower drain clearly has not been cleaned in some time. It had black mold or mildew growing around the edges. There was a strange smell in the room when we entered. Fortunately, opening the windows for about an hour cleared up the odor.
The fitness room was ok. All the equipment worked fine but had clearly not been cleaned in a while. There were no disinfectant wipes available to wipe equipment down either.
Breakfast was adequate but minimal for a TownePlace Suites or Residence Inn. There were only a few gluten free items…sausage, bananas, peanut butter, & yogurt.
If we were to stay at this location again, I would inspect the room more carefully and ask for a change if we found the same type of housekeeping deficiencies. We were coming off a 12 hour road trip, though, so I did not look carefully enough upon check in.
Although there is no sidewalk, you can walk through parking lots to get to a few restaurants. We had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse, which was ok.
- Louise (10/5): My stay was great you will see me again - Clean and friendly people The front entrance
- Melissa (7/5): -

- Meghan (10/5): Great, clean place for price - We were hitting up Lake Murray on our way to Folly Beach and stayed here and we uad a very nice experience. Both check-in and check-out were very easy and everyone was nice & polite. Our room was clean and bigger than most hotel rooms and price was decent. There were multiple good food and brewery choices right by us and it was only about a 12 min drive the lake. If we were in the area, we would stay here again for sure!
- Juan (10/5): - Great stay. We were greeted very warmly by the girl at the front desk at check in, and when we got to our room we found it was very nicely renovated, and clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was amazing. Overall a very comfortable room, and having a full kitchenette, makes this hotel a must stay. Also great location near the highway and many restaurants. Would definitely stay there again.
- Timothy (8/5): - Property was a little worn. Hallway carpet was worn, no ice buckets in room. Room was clean.
- Melanie (10/5): - At this time there was no washer or dryer. There was a laundry mat close that was nice.
- Robert (10/5): - The bed was really really comfortable.
- Mark (10/5): - GREAT
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall the hotel was clean, but the carpet was dated and needed replacing. The floor we stayed on had a constant smell of marijuana
- Jamesha (10/5): -
- Rebecca (8/5): - Friendly staff. Clean room. Noise from nearby interstate highway.
- Snell (10/5): -
- Aimee (10/5): - Very nice staff, comfortable rooms.
- JAMES (10/5): very nice hotel. staff was great too breakfast was excellent - grilling area and pool areas were beautiful. gym was very nice. nothing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Rick's Review - Easy chk-in, rooms have fridge, good counter space, coffee maker, hotplates and dishwasher and dishware.
Staff is friendly, only issue was pool was pretty dirty when i went to pool area. Breakfast was good with multiple choices.
- Barbara (8/5): Staff was very nice and place was very clean . - The property was very clean and staff couldn’t have been nicer. The breakfast was out of food and the coffee was not available until later.
- Jamie (1/5): Bad - It was a very nice place... So they charged me twice..which is like a total of 600 dollars for 2 nights..I went and told the front desk immediately and she told me she would have it fixed. They never got it fixed, nobody ever called me back..I had to file a dispute with my bank...I am still dealing with this matter nearly two months later. This is just sloppy. 300 dollars is a lot of money to me and to just not even care to try and fix it or call me back is disgusting.
- Sheila (5/5): Not good - Clean The managerI’m first shift was not quite pleasant. I was assuming and talking with the employee who I assume was New and it’s just his attitude, maybe his posture and it just didn’t sit right with me and the room that I ordered online was not what it look like online and I know pictures is 1000 words, but it could’ve been better four us coming from out of town to enjoy Columbia.
- heywardh2023 (10/5): Responsive team and great weekend stay. - We recently stayed at the TownPlace Suites Columbia Northwest / Harbison for a family wedding weekend. I am happy to share that the staff went above and beyond to make our experience a great one. Although the specific room we initially reserved was unexpectedly unavailable due to a maintenance issue, the hotel worked with us to provide a solution that fully met our needs. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely focused on making things right. Their responsiveness and professionalism turned what could have been a disappointing situation into a very positive experience. We truly appreciate their level of care and hospitality. I highly recommend this property for a comfortable, accommodating, and guest-centered stay.
- Martina (10/5): - It was amazing
- Sandra (10/5): - The staff was amazing! Everyone that we encountered was super friendly and helpful. The room was a little smaller than we expected but it was perfect. My daughter and I had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel!
- David (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Easy and fit our needs!
- Leri (10/5): - Always my stay here when on vacation. Staff are professional and courteous. Rooms are spacious and quiet.....
- Shirley (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent customer service by Reilly at the front desk . Felt like I was being welcomed home.
- Ralph (9/5): Superb -
- Gabriela (10/5): Every employee was so sweet and nice very courteous. I will gladly come here again. It was a pleasure meeting all these - The breakfast was amazing delicious everything on point The location was very convenient cause it was close to the mall and lotta restaurants and to a Walmart
- Tammy (10/5): - Friendly staff, nice and clean, loved our room, bed was so comfortable and pillows were soft. I would recommend!
- Carolyn (8/5): The majority of my stay was good, some things could have been better - The staff was friendly the breakfast.
Was mostly good. I was allowed to have a late departure. Upon entering my room it smelled like weed. We were there for an event, and when I told the front desk. We would need some additional wash clothes and towels for in the morning, I was told we would have to bring them the unclean ones before we could get new ones.
- Wesley (7/5): Liked the stay except for the lack of housekeeping service and poor breakfast service one morning - good sized room with a full kitchenette (including range, pots and pans, utensils, dishes)
good location near freeway, shops and restaurants
friendly and helpful front desk staff Lack of daily housekeeping service, even if requested. I believe this is the first hotel I have stayed in where you don't get the option of having housekeeping come in. I did not see a notice advising of this. I realize other hotels discourage daily housekeeping "to save the environment", but they usually will come in to clean if requested. Had to call the front desk for fresh towels and to empty the trashcans. I noticed some other tenants putting bags of trash out in the hallway.
Variable quality of breakfast service (buffet in the lobby). Was good the first two days, but poor on the third day. There are a limited number of items, which would have been okay except when food was not immediately replenished when empty. On the third day, the boiled eggs were gone and not replenished. The sausages were gone, when finally replenished they were cold. The scrambled eggs were tasteless and watery. (there were no other egg choices or alternative to the sausages). The orange juice tasted like water (corrected when the empty orange juice container was replaced at my request). The lone trashcan was overflowing. It looked to me like the lone visible employee working there was overwhelmed.
- Kireem (9/5): Superb -
- mbg996 (8/5): Nice option for the price - We were surprised to find the TownePlace was one of the best rated Marriott options in the area, considering it was the lowest amount of Bonvoy points. We’re longtime Marriott loyalists but have always avoided TownePlaces after a poor experience during the early days of the brand. Since we’ve noticed TownePlace as a whole has changed quite a bit over the years from its initial apartment complex layout, we decided to give the brand another shot. Our room was clean and comfortable (it appeared to be recently renovated), though it was much smaller / tighter than expected in terms of the configuration. The property had ample parking and tons of dining options within a 5 minute drive; it's also about 35 minutes from Congaree NP. Lois at the front desk was very personable, and the gentleman who ran breakfast was also friendly. The breakfast itself left a lot to be desired, as I noticed some other reviews mentioned; it appeared they started the day out of stock of a few items and the waffle maker was out of commission. Considering the low points value, we were overall satisfied with our stay and would keep newer TownePlace properties in mind for future travels.
- Jennifer (4/5): Disappointing - Very load and rooms are really s
- Joseph (10/5): - Nice rooms, close to shopping and restaurants.
- Tamara (8/5): Everything was great minus the minor issues with my room I felt at home and the staff was super nice - My door handle to the bathroom was messed up. And one of the bathroom lights flickered on and off.
- Nandi (8/5): Very good -
- Markita (7/5): Good -
- Bell (9/5): Fair - The layout The front desk staffing. It appeared they were short staffed. It took 40plus minutes to check in. Upon arrival there was no one at the desk attending customers. I requested a 5p check in and still waited with no assistance for 10-15min
- John (10/5): - Excellent staff
- Works (10/5): Perfect getaway - Lois was AMAZING! She was so hospitable & made us feel so comfortable. Actually everyone we meet there was really nice! The room was perfect & I LOVED the full sized fridge. Thank you for an amazing time!
- Shautoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (6/5): - The front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was noisy from an older air conditioning unit and outside traffic. The bathroom also needed to be updated. The breakfast was good.
