Guest Reviews
- Carol (10/5): A fabulous stay in large comfortable accommodation set just outside Arrowtown. - Loved everything. We had a very nice one night stay. Exceptionally clean and large bedroom/lounge. Double sink spa bathroom. Utility room. As well as a washing machine, also had a clothes dryer. It didn’t bother us but not sure if the spa bath worked.
- Shieling (9/5): Excellent - Spacious house and rooms. Some traffic noise as house is off the main road. Very well kept and maintained. House off the main road.
- Muddassar Mahmood (8/5): - Location was very beautiful
- Jenny (10/5): Magnificent! 5 stars!! - Wonderful accommodation, stunning location, lovely host
- Young (1/5): Do NOT stay here, it is AWFUL - Nothing. 'Luxury Lodge' this is not. The room is someone's grannyflat, with all the accompanying mismatched furniture, reject shop inclusions, garage sale pictures on the wall, old, frayed bedding, old scratchy towels, the toilet is in the laundry, the fridge was not plugged in etc etc. This is very very far from luxury and very very far from a lodge. All the photos on booking.com are highly curated or not real images of the accommodation. The 'host' just handed the keys to us, no words, no greeting, no welcome, no explanation of how things work. We felt extremely unwelcome. Communication was woeful, most of the phone numbers are not connected. This house is across the road from the lake but the road is a major highway with heavy traffic. Do not book here. We left after 15 minutes, enough time to book elsewhere. We felt so uncomfortable, we had to leave. Host

We liked nothing about this place, so much so, we left.

- 迪思 (10/5): 非常美丽的房子,就在Hayes湖的对面,过马路就到湖边停车场 -
- Guest (4/5): Would not recommend at all. Not a good advertisement for Queenstown which has many wonderful places - The location to the lake and Arrowtown. New bathroom was nice. Unfortunately many things were disappointing. This lodge says it is a luxury lodge - it is not! Don't see how they can say this. Accomodation is very basic - old marked furniture - plastic pot plants. Old duvet cover. The insects that came in on the 2nd night at 10pm were so bad I thought I would have to leave. I would have if I could l have found another hotel at a reasonable price. The insects were there in 100s. ? mosquitos. Very large. There was a section next door that looked like a dumping ground - ?did it have stagnant water for these insects? I had to sleep under a sheet all night not to get bitten. The outside windows were covered in insects - no way I could open a window or door. I would not recommend this place. Very tired looking. The contact person was an Australian phone number so no use me contacting them. I also wasn't going to use fly spray and sleep all night with the chemical fumes. Photos made this look so much better. It is NOT luxury.
- Tony (10/5): -
- Samantha (7/5): Lovely stay, just didn't have everything advertised. - Very spacious room, beautiful location, beautiful home. Jasmine was super friendly and always available for a chat if you see her. The wardrobe was large, shower was AMAZING (large, hot, good pressure) and Lake Hayes is right across the road with a great walking track. Air con unit in the room was nice and toasty. Also just a 5 min drive from Ayrburn - we went twice we loved it so much! We were disappointed there was no spa pool, bikes, robes or slippers as advertised. The spa and the bikes is what made us choose this place. Also no breakfast, however there was milk and tea.
- Debora (9/5): We would definitely stay again as we liked staying a little bit out of the hustle & bustle - For us, the room was very spacious and the facilities were excellent. Jasmine was great too :) Only the local TV channels but that's why there are plenty of DVDs. Needs a slightly larger fridge
- yanling (7/5): A friendly lodge with nice surroundings, but facilities and accessibility could be improved. - The location is about a 15-minute drive from Queenstown center, and the surrounding scenery is beautiful once you step outside.
The host was warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with, which made the stay more comfortable. The room was well-equipped, but the space felt a little small, making cooking inside somewhat inconvenient.
Some of the facilities appeared a bit dated.
Although basic supplies like cereal, coffee, and tea were provided, the coffee had a production date from 2019, so we did not feel confident using it.
The washing machine did not spin-dry clothes very well, and given Queenstown’s weather, having a dryer would make the stay much more convenient.
The bathroom’s hot and cold water control was not very responsive, with the temperature shifting suddenly from very hot to very cold.
Finally, the main road entrance to the property was quite narrow and hard to spot — we missed it a few times while driving, especially at night when it was harder to find.
- Srikkumar (10/5): -
- Claire (7/5): Spacious, warm studio. - Very spacious studio, good heating and comfortable king bed with electric blanket. Also fabulous to have a full size shower with great water pressure, in addition to a spa bath. Lots of dvds to watch if the weather turns bad. Boring view - outlook was to cars parked adjacent to main studio window. So no privacy unless I pulled the curtains.
Heated towel rail but only a single bar.
Studio felt cut off from main lodge and the guest info folder didn't include information about access to the main communal areas, if there were any, as suggested by online photos.
- Sarah (8/5): - Very comfortable room, with electric blankets and good heating. View in shared living area was stunning. Helpful to have access to shared living/kitchen area although you are not able to cook in the kitchen. Good sized room and great bathroom. Hot tub didn't have enough water in it to use, this would have been nice to relax in after a day hiking but it didnt matter too much for us.
- Roger (7/5): -
- Lata Paulo (9/5): - It was private and had everything we needed. Host was responsive. Hot water ran out the first night but then it was OK for the rest of the days
- Alison (8/5): Good, perfect location between Queenstown and Arrowtown - The location was good, comfortable and clean
- Nathaniel (5/5): - Large room, easy parking. Luxury in name only, a combination of a 90s motel and your grandmother's spare room. Facilities are very out of date, in desperate need of a refresh. The DVD rack next to the door says it all. This is for the studio room, unsure how luxurious the main house is.
Not their fault but the neighbours "junkyard" has roosters that crow the whole time too.
- Guest (8/5): -
- Fraser (8/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay at a very clean and luxurious location - Very clean and comfortable. Relaxing It felt a bit isolating as we were the only people there. Good if you prefer solitude / privacy.
- Shelton Agar (5/5): - Lovely bathroom. Very comfortable bed Arrived late. No lights on. Not an easy indication as to where our room was. Freezing cold room. Had to boil the kettle on the floor. Pillows like flat hay bales. Nothing to welcome us eg . a biscuits even. Quite a weird vibe. Then what cracked us up the most was if we didn't leave by 10.30am, we would be charged $100. WTF
- Guest (9/5): -
- Christine Burke (8/5): Very comfortable self contained unit for an overnight stay. - It was a very warm and comfortable place to stay, tucked off the main road but not noisy. The kitchen was useful and appreciated the Royal Doulton plates. Bed very comfortable. There was no milk supplied, but there was cereal. There was tea but no green tea. So we had to go and buy some milk for tea and coffee. There was condiments but no bread so not sure if they are a B and B? The heater does not warm the bathroom, easily but if you kept the bathroom door shut, the main room was lovely and warm
- Marty T (10/5): Great value great place - Excellent value price wise compared to properties in the town.
Very homely and comfortable Nothing it was great
- Nabilah (8/5): -
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ces (10/5): Very present and happy. A beautiful setting and room lovely people to deal with. Highly recommend - Lovely room and staff. Very pretty and clean. Fabulous value. Nothing
- Frank (8/5): Very good -
- Wayne (7/5): Good - Breakfast was fine, but very basic for a bed and breakfast.
Location of main house is superb but not utilised by being in the studio out the back.
- Jonathan (10/5): Lake Hayes retreat, exceptional spot! - Location was awesome! We had awesome views and incredibly easy access to lake Hayes being just across the road. The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. It was clean, well organized and provided us a great relaxing time away
- Michael (7/5): not good - No breakfast no office no room cleaning no lights in carpark at night felt abandoned
- Carol (4/5): Comfortable room but no views. - Right across from Lake Hayes with access to walkway. Comfortable bed. Lilac studio is round the back with none of the views you see in the photos. Didn't feel like we could access the front patio and enjoy the hot tub or outdoor chairs there as felt part of the front units.
- Jaydon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassandra (7/5): Cozy and calming - Super cozy! Loved that we could just come and go and how easy it was to ‘check-in’. Location was absolutely stunning. Not too far out from town itself!
Bed was so so comfortable. Loved the little amenities, having lots of dvds was such a cute take. We loved coming back at the end of a long day and popping one on to fall asleep. Bath was absolutely incredible! Overall very lovely little stay. The water temperature for the shower was very niggly. You’d turn it the slightest touch towards cold and it would be freezing and when turning it towards hot would be boiling. Shower head could also do with a really good clean.
- Brook (6/5): Pleasant - Would prefer to be met and welcomed.
No milk in fridge, no answe when we tried to ring.
- Bing (10/5): Sweet home - Very nice owner, Lake view
- Stephanie (9/5): Everything we Needed - Everything we needed was there: extra blankets so we could adjust the bedding temperature: very well equipped kitchen: beautiful bathroom and laundry: extra touches like dvd's and bathrobes.
Well insulated
An easy drive to Queenstown and Arrowtown.
Was private but hosts were very quick to respond to any questions. Just a personal preference but I'd like a softer pillow in the choices.
- Laura (5/5): Great potential but super creepy place-recommend only for groups - The location was awesome This place was really creepy. There was a For asale sign out front and literally no one else on premise. I thought it would have a front desk or Bed and Breakfast bibe but instead I felt like I broke into an abandoned sukmer house. I felt really uncomfortable here as a so traveler
- Lee (7/5): Good - Spa bath in room but once used - no more hot water until the next day.
No views from room.
TV needs replacing as it is old technology and has no capacity to use apps for streaming.
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (10/5): A welcome stay in a deluxe studio unit with everything I needed and more. - A welcoming luxury studio, especially after an unexpected car accident. Arrived late with lots of luggage which the hosts kindly let me store in their garage for the next day. Very much appreciated.
I would love to have stayed longer and would happily come again. Next morning a beautiful view of Lake Hayes. Nothing
- Andy (6/5): No longer the Lodge that earlier reviewers liked. - The bedroom suite was huge
The view was stunning
Off Road parking The owners have moved out, the place is for sale, it’s certainly no longer a lodge, the kitchen isn’t available for guests, ponds were empty, there’s not enough cutlery to eat a takeaway, the decor is tired, & @ $375 a night, it wasn’t good value. The spa was unavailable & the main highway was busy almost all night.
- Jean (7/5): Good - Good location. Large room. Very cramped kitchen area
Quite cold evening and morning
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Ella (3/5): Quiet place but there's better places to stay in queenstown - Quiet location and easy enough location to get places in the rental car. Very dated, very dirty, pictures online are misleading of what the view is from the room. Lots of stuff under the beds from previous guests so clearly hadn't been cleaned properly.
- Ian (9/5): Excellent - View Nothing it was great
- Lester (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Kitchen designed for Hobbits - Good location near Lake Hays. Good sized accommodation, good bathroom, utility. Let down by it's kitchen facilities. Designed for hobbits I think. Everything between ankle and knee level, spent a lot of time on my knees. Good amount of space but badly utilised. Shower reminded me of Eddie Izzards sketch. Search Google for Eddie Izzard 'Machines That Lie'. Wait for the shower section, exactly like it 😳
- Suzanne (7/5): It would have been beautiful to stay on an autumn or spring holiday not a summer holiday. - The room was absolutely beautiful. Big windows faced the lake and hills. The big window copped the afternoon sun and was too warm to sit in. When I contacted the owner regarding the aircon I was told how to turn it on. It didn’t work in the room and made it very uncomfortable.
- Dennis (10/5): We enjoyed out stay - There was no breakfast served to us . That was disappointing.
- Sarah (5/5): Average motel-like studio that has potential but probably wouldn’t stay again - - Location was alright albeit not actually on the lake
- Main room was quite large so we had plenty of space to move around
- Bathroom is modern and nice (doesn’t quite match the main room)
- Liked that it was self check-in - Pillows were hard and thin
- Partner and I kept sneezing and coughing as if from allergies in the room
- Aircon points directly onto the bed so you get cold air blowing on face overnight, but it was too hot in the room without it
- Pretty basic/old fashioned room with a good bathroom
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Highly recommend. - All provisions were exceptional. Whitewear was new. Some pieces of furniture were dated and chipped.
- Lipa (10/5): We loved it. - Everything was perfect! The owner is very caring and helpful. Will go back again. Very close to shops and airport
- Anna (9/5): A lovely stay away from the crowds - Wonderful hosts, beautiful private room, well stocked kitchen, washing machine in bathroom Not applicable
- Kanita (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable stay. Well appointed.
- Peter (8/5): Very comfortable ans pleasant stay -
- Ashwin1092 (9/5): Superb -
- Mia (3/5): Very bad smell in the room despite opening the window. invasion of mosquitos. Traffic noise - was 10 minutes from airport Very bad smell in the room despite opening the window. invasion of mosquitos, never saw so many. and noisy due to traffic even at night
- Deanne (8/5): Pleasant Night's rest - This is a very nice studio apartment behind a home on a busy highway alongside Lake Hayes. We selected it for the location. We were walking from Queenstown to Arrowtown and wanted a place to stay to split up the walk, This location was a good choice. The room was comfortable. The hosts made yogurt, bread and fruit available for us to serve ourselves. There is a washing machine so we were able to wash our walking clothes and set them out on the drying rack to dry overnight. The bathroom was very nicely designed, clean and modern, but it lacked a shelf in the shower to hold soap, shampoo, etc. As we are two sisters traveling, we appreciated the twin beds. The hosts provided privacy- we never met them although we did see them come and go. Their process of contactless arrival and departure may appeal to guests. The home is across the busy highway from the Lake Hayes Trail that we were walking when we arrived and we had to run across the highway when the busy traffic provided an opportunity. Someone is a car would not have that issue, but might have to cross traffic to pull into the driveway. We did not find any walking accessible places to eat nearby so we had peanut butter sandwiches for dinner in the room.
- Karren (8/5): Very good -
- Hay (9/5): Superb - Location lovely alongside Lake Hayes None
- John (8/5): Very good - Spacious. Clean. Comfortable. No view
- Nicola (10/5): Overall super friendly hosts, lovely room and great value for money. Thank you. - We loved our cosy room, our host was super friendly and helpful with advising us about what to see in the area. We loved the close location to Lake Hayes and Arrowtown. The room was advertised as "Lake View" room, which it wasn't, as it was at the back of the house. However it was a lovely room and we could walk around to the front to see the Lake.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rod (8/5): Very good -
- Rod (8/5): Fantastic - Beautiful location and scenery. Nil
- Yao (9/5): Superb - Service and equipments Location
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sydney (9/5): Comfortable lodgings in beautiful location. - Beautiful location close to Lake Hayes walking track.
Friendly host.
- Robyn (9/5): If you’re after a place that’s a little out of town at a picturesque lake with public transport convenience and a winery - The location the quietness and the studio room facilities were great.
- Rosemarie (10/5): almost Perfect - it's in a lovely location just outside of Queenstown, i was for some reason under the impression it had a lake view when I seen the photos. The studio was however at the back of the main house property.
Still it was a beautifully presented clean and tidy. Big thank you for your kind hospitality. Only that it had no views of the lake
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Allan (8/5): Very good -
- Jojo55 (10/5): Jojo - Great location away from the business of QT, spa exceptional, bed very comfy, all the extras in the kitchen were great. Found leftover food in microwave & hairs in bath.
- Christie (10/5): Excellent! We stayed in the Lilac Studio for just one night, but wished it was for much longer! - The host was super friendly upon our arrival. The room was extremely spacious, with a huge comfortable bed and a lounge. The kitchenette was great and we really appreciated the breakfast items available. We indulged in having a bath - a luxury we'd missed while travelling - and it was the most comfortable tub we've ever been in. The bathroom was very modern and it's awesome to have a washing machine and dryer available, even though we didn't need it on our trip but it'd be very useful for some people. The WiFi was great quality. The location is great, literally just across the road from Lake Hayes and only a short drive to Frankton, Queenstown or Arrowtown. We'd definitely stay here again!!! It's a bit tricky to find the entrance when driving both in daylight and more so at night, especially with the fast speed limit on the road. Maybe a bigger sign or different placement of the sign could help?
- Gavin (9/5): Superb - Friendly host, spacious accommodation n/a
- Oliviajane (7/5): Not as planned but still, a beautiful stay. - Jasmine was lovely. The room was spotless, bed was so comfy, and the bathroom looked brand new. Beautiful water pressure and new air conditioning installed to warm the room in the cold night. I really enjoyed this peaceful stay. Unfortunately, the studio that I booked on booking.com was not available due to a 'burst water pipe', so we didn't have the stay that we intended. Jasmine offered a cook breakfast or a $30CR, which I thought was very kind of her.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donald (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (7/5): Good - Spa bath, comfy bed, warm, modern bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen for cooking was a bonus. Quite next to the main road for road noise. I wouldn't say it was worth the amount per night.
- John (9/5): Very good accommodation in an excellent place. - The accommodation was at Lake Hayes just outside Queenstown with beautiful views.
Excellent facilities and very good accommodation. The whole time we stayed we did not meet anyone at the property.
We stayed in Lilac Lodge at the back of the main house where there was no one residing.
It seemed a little strange as we had booked for 3 nights.
- Neil (9/5): Comfortable studio apartment close to Arrowtown. - Great location a few kilometres out of Queenstown. Washing machine and clothes line were a bonus. Pillows were very hard. We did not not meet anyone at the property but communication in advance was good.
- Tuan-anh (7/5): Nice accommodatiom near Lake Hayes. - Quiet location and private, next to Lake Hayes. Clean spacious bathroom and large living area. Very limited information provided for guests inside accommodation such as places to see and things to do. Wifi password not provided (but given when contacted through Booking.com). Iron available but no ironing board
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (8/5): A great stay and lovely owners! - A great location being able to cross the road to the wonderful Lake and walking track and being easily accessible to the lovely town of Arrowtown and then the following day going to Queenstown.
It’s a lovely studio behind their home and it’s comfortable and peaceful. Sitting outside would be very nice.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Location, parking, nice room N.a
- Lisa-maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (8/5): Very good - Easy access to the lake walk.
- Caroline (10/5): Friendly, well equipped and excellent location. - Location perfect for QT and Lake Hayes. Quiet alternative to staying in QT max 20 minute drive. Breakfast excellent, well equipped with washing machine. Lovely host, could not do enough for us. Would stay again! Nothing
- Duangrat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable - Tidy, continental breakfast, good location Road noise, no Netflix or Neon
- Ledy (7/5): I would return - The place is amazing, just a few comments below for improvements 1. The curtains do not block out the soon, so can't really sleep after 4.30am, so that was a bit unpleasant taking into consideration that we were on holidays and wanted to sleep in.
2. The microwave was very dirty
3. The fridge was all wet and smell was fishy 🐟
4. Please move the furniture to vacum properly.
5. You provided fruit, which we could not eat as they were very raw, make sure you put ripe fruits, so your customers can eat them.
Your place has everything we need, it is luxurious and very very comfortable, if you fix those little things, that will definitely improve your customer's satisfaction.
Thanks
- Jessica (7/5): Lovely place between Arrowtown and Queenstown - Nice clean space. Bathroom was great and we really appreciated having a washing machine in the studio. We ran out of hot water at one point but in all fairness I was trying to fill the bath and have a shower at the same time. Then when my husband went to shower it was just cold water.
- Karen (10/5): Spectacular location, lovely host and a comfortable well appointed studio apartment. - A lovely light continental breakfast was provided along with a bowl of fresh fruit and selection of teas, I was delighted to find a proper china tea cup in the well appointed cosy studio, The king sized bed was comfy and the sheets crisp. The location is stunning wish we had time to stay a little longer. We had a bit of trouble with the TV, so we enjoyed watching an old movie on dvd
