Guest Reviews
- Keng-Chieh (8/5): The pros certainly outweighed the cons. Great place to stay for large groups - Though there was a language barrier, the owners were super friendly and accomodating to our needs. The free shuttle to the ski resort was also a huge plus and made our trip a lot more convenient. The small shared bath slightly put us off due to its small size and factoring the large number of other residents (hygiene). Furthermore, there was a lack of appliances such as microwaves and fridges.
- Sarah (8/5): Traditional style accomodation 10mins walk from Furano Station - Traditional style tatami and futon rooms. The owner will drive you to the ski resort in the morning and this year he gave us complimentary tickets to catch the bus back. This was our 3rd time staying here. The bathrooms are downstairs separate for men and woman. It’s a shower room with a bath. The Spa Bath is always filled and covered so its like Onsen, you wash yourself then go in the bath. You use it privately and lock the door. Toilets are shared in the hallway and sinks are also in the hallway. There is a ski storage area downstairs though you keep your ski boots in your room in trays to dry out over night. Casual shoes are left downstairs in the entranceway. The owner will take your room rubbish bin out each day and replace your tea and you get a yukata in your room. There is a communal fridge downstairs to use. It is close to Furano station maybe about 10mins walk and not too far from convenience stores. Wifi was fine this time. The owner doesn't drive you back to the station when you check out. I mean its just down the street which is fine most of the time but sometimes walking in the heavy falling snow with a suitcase to and from the station is hard work. Towels aren’t included with the room. You have to spend another 150 yen per towel which is weird. We actually just brought our own towels to use this time. The Futons are a little thin/ hard. The bean pillows aren't very comfy so we use the second blanket as a pillow.

- Sabine (10/5): We loved it. - The traditional rooms. Friendly staff. Ski shuttle in the morning. Only a few ski busses per day to the ski area.
- Nozomu (8/5): とにかく清潔なのが良かった - 清潔でどこもきれいに手入れされていた。 冷蔵機や電子レンジを2階にも置いてほしい

- Christiaan (10/5): - We loved the more tradition accommodation and the rooms, our host was always available for recommendations for the area and very friendly. He offered a lift to the ski resort daily as well as a bus ticket home. Very convenient! This accommodation is also nearby plenty restaurants which helps if you don't have a car. And the train and bus station is about 10 Min walk.
- K (8/5): -
- Johnson (8/5): - Property was solid, we had a good sized room for threee people and the shower was nice, had a bath. Good location if you want to stay in town right by the station. Far from the ski slopes but that was fine as the bus up was close

- WeiHan (10/5): - 房間很大! 廁所比較小,樓下浴室只有一間。
- wei (10/5): - The room is very comfortable and with a pleasant wooden scent. The bed and blankets feel very nice to the touch.
The bathroom is comfortable as well. No

飲食店が近い 冷蔵庫があればいいと思った
- James (8/5): Affordable, comfy Japanese-style stay in Furano. - Affordable Japanese-style tatami mat room with lots of extra cushions and blankets. Cool Japanese-style shared bathroom with big bathtub and lots of shower options. It's a pretty short walk from Furano Station and restaurants in the Marche area. The toilet room was tiny and it was actually sort of hard to use the toilet since my knees were hitting the wall in front of me. I'm average height so this could be a huge challenge if you're on the taller side!

- Angus (6/5): Not bad - Location Stairs only and the room without hair dryer, who need to use in bathroom
- Christopher (6/5): Pleasant - Very close to Furano JR Station and other sightseeing and restaurants of Furano. Quite good futon (ie: not too hard compared to other Japanese lodgings) and AC in the room. Only one shower/bath for men (same thing for women I guess). No scheduling problems for me though, but could have been one. Paper thin walls, you can hear your neighbours like they're with you. Atrocious vinegar smell that didn't leave my room during my stay.
- Vered (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (8/5): Lovely one night stay in a clean and spacious property. - Spotless, so clean. One of the cleanest hostel like accommodations we have stayed at. The tatami room was also spacious - fit our family of 4 plus 2 large and 1 small suitcases. Very thoughtful things were provided for like the yukatas, slippers and other items. I like the hot bath in the basement. Only one bathroom per gender. It can get busy.
- Jasper (10/5): Exceptional -
- Foo (10/5): Decent place to stay. Would recommend - Not far from the station, walking distance to restaurants and seicomart. Clean and comfortable place. Kind owner who provides 1 way ride to the ski station but you have to find your own way back after. One shared bathroom so you'll have to take turns using it.
- Sarah (7/5): Japanese style accomodation 10mins walk from Furano Station - The owner will drive you to the ski resort in the morning. We stayed here last year too and his English is getting better! We do try to speak in Japanese when we can though. Whilst the owner will drive you to ski resort in the morning he doesn't pick you up in the afternoon so you have to catch the lavender bus back to the station and then walk from there which is fine but the busses don't come very often and are sometimes busy. He also doesn't drive you back to the station when you check out either. Sometimes walking in the heavy snow with a suitcase to and from the station is hard work. Towels aren’t included with the room? You have to spend another 150 yen per towel which is weird. Why not just include them with the room? You can hear people talking through walls sometimes. The Internet was really slow and sometimes didn’t work at all. We weren't sure if it was just our room as it worked fine last time we stayed here in a different room. The Futons were a little thin/ hard. The bean pillow wasn’t very comfy so we used a second blanket as a pillow.
- A (8/5): simple but very pleasant - Love this place, Akiba san is a nice person and will do everything to help you. Located near the station, not far from restaurants, there's a shuttle service in the morning. Large and warm room limited amount of toilet/bath is not a problem but when the place gets crowded you might have to wait.
- Evelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Anaiteraii (7/5): Good -
- Lucy (7/5): Good - Location was great, walking distance to the train station and lots of food options. We loved the super close izakaya called Lantana - definitely book your dinners if you're coming during a peak time. We were lucky enough to walk in at the right moment on our first night here, but our second night here we had a 7/11 dinner after trying place after place for about 40 minutes. K-sports is a great place to hire your snow gear - they're super lovely, and they'll drive you to and from the ski resort AND store your hired gear for you over night. Across the road from them is Hostel Tomar where you can have a nice Japanese breakfast.
- Wai Shun Wilson (8/5): - Loved staying in the hotel. Very traditional Japanese style hotel. Room has your own heater and AC for summer. Sound insulation is pretty good. Room has plenty of space for my one person room.
The only problem that I can't give 5 star is the bathroom. Seems like there's only 2 male and 2 female baths in the whole hotel, they are single people bath like they have in normal Japanese house. I only used it for one night and had to wait 10mins for the other guy to finish. I went for public baths somewhere else in town for the remaining nights, luckily I was driving. Not sure if there's another public bath near by you can use.
If they have a public bath instead I'd have given 5 star.
Will go back and stay if I'm driving

- Heng (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Very friendly owner, traditional Japanese room There is one shower for all of the guests so it is best to shower at night
- Yuan (10/5): Pleasant surprised to choose such a cosy place. - The staff are very nice and friendly. The property is super clean. Close to station. none.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Traditional Japanese style lodging. Clean facilities. Comfortable bedding.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitality was wonderful
As a family of 5 with children, we love Tatami mat rooms, as we have some extra room in the day when the beds are put away
It was very clean and tidy Not bad for us - but it is a Japanese guest house - toilets and showers are shared
- Eric (9/5): Great place to stay on a budget - The room is spacious and the futon beds were very comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities (sink, toilet, shower) were also very clean and availability was not a issue at all. It is about a 10 minute walk from the station and is close to many restaurants and convenience stores/supermarkets. The owners were also extremely kind and helpful! Be aware that the bathroom facilities are shared. The noise isolation of the rooms also isn't the best so you can hear people in the hallways (when using the sinks for example).
- Thitsana (8/5): Very good - Comfortable bed
- Sawatruja (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Very simple, cozy and clean location that is perfect for those visiting Furano on a budget. - Very cozy, traditional minshuku with good facilities for storing ski equipment. A simple location but walkable to good restaurants and izakaya in town. A little more storage space for clothing in the rooms would have been beneficial. We had to have our clothes on the floor or still in our bags instead.
- Vanessa (3/5): Just a room and shared bathroom - Bed was comfortable No welcome or positive hospitality.
Reception doesn't exist/front counter not attended.
No staff available if needed.
No dining/eating/rest area. Literally just paying for a room and shared bathroom.
'Hot tub' is a standard bathtub that is just full of water all of the time. Not allowed to drain the water/fill with fresh water.
- Neymik (8/5): Very good -
- Guthrie (9/5): Superb - Very clean and tidy lodging. Owners offered shuttle to ski resort. Very kind.
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goh (8/5): Very good - Exceptionally clean everywhere in the minshuku. And room is big. Nothing
- Zhaochuan (8/5): Very good - Room is big and comfortable. Everything is convinent and clean.
- Benita (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (7/5): Traditional Style Accomodation, short walk from the train station - The owner is nice. He only speaks Japanese but we understood him and can speak easy Japanese so we were fine but if you want anything and don't speak Japanese you may need to use google translate. The hotel is only about a 10min walk from the station and there's a Convenience store Seicomart nearby and also a drugstore near the station. Its a quick walk into the centre of town. The owner will drive you to the ski resort every morning. He will take your room rubbish bin out each day. You get yukata in your room. Bathrooms are downstairs separate for men and woman. It’s a shower room with a bath. Spa Bath is always filled and covered so like Onsen you wash then go in the bath. You use it privately and lock the door. Toilets are shared in hallway and sinks are also in the hallway. There is a ski/board room downstairs and you keep your boots in your room in trays. The town is not too busy and you can walk around and find restaurants easily. Whilst the owner drives you to the resort each day he doesn't pick you up so you have to catch the lavender local bus back. Check times on google maps but they don’t come super often. He doesn’t drive you back to the station when you check out either. No room cleaning, not that I mind that, I don’t, but replenishing the tea after use would be nice. We only got 1 day worth of tea. No bath towels in the room you have to hire from the owner. The futons are kind of thin and the bean pillow is terrible but we folded up a blanket and used that as a pillow which was actually really comfy.
- Claire (10/5): It was an amazing stay! So comfortable! -
- Mark (10/5): Traditional style, cosy and warm - Traditional style Ryokan accommodation, very warm, clean and comfortable room. Much more fun and less expensive than ski resort accommodation. The owner very friendly and helpful. This place was close to the station in older part of town, some distance to the ski area but there are reliable local buses, plus the ski rental guy in town 'K-sports' is happy to do drop off and pick up if you rent with him ..
- A (10/5): Great - Nice warm and spacious room, shuttle service to ski resort, near most restaurants and the station, Akiba San was a great host, will come back
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the bath room, it's almost like a mini Onsen. The owner is very helpful and kind. He doesn't speak English but uses a translator app and is eager to help. If you let him know the night before he will drive you to the ski field at 0830. A taxi home from the ski field costs between 1500-1800 yen (about 17 dollars AUD). The location is right in the middle of down town, very near a lot of amazing food places and bars. The JR rail and bus terminal is a 5 minute walk away.
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niall (4/5): Disappointing -
- Bec (8/5): Very good -
- Ready (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruby (9/5): Great budget place - The owner was very friendly and used a translator to communicate. He will take you to furano ropeway at 8:30am if you ask the day before. Everything was kept very clean. Close to the station & restaurants. Good, clean hot bath at the end of the day. You have to make your own way back from the slopes at the end of the day (bus was limited). No common room.
- Teeranai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alessandro (9/5): Superb -
- Fred (9/5): Superb -
- R (8/5): Very good -
- Isabelle (9/5): This place is worth the money. I highly recommend staying here. - The room was spacious and the facility has everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay as it was close to Furano station and other establishments. Fortunately, I have no negative comments about the place.
- Jack (10/5): Very pleasureable authentic experience with amazing service - Amazing service! Akiba is a genuine friend. Nothing!
- Wafir (7/5): Good -
- ケンタ (8/5): - エアコンはない感じでしたが扇風機があってなんとかくつろげました。
- Ekanayake (7/5): Good -
- Dominic (7/5): Good for cooling days only - Location and big room. No air conditioning, so in hot day it is very hot in the room. Only 1 bathroom each for male and female. And bathe time is restricted to certain hours only.
- Marloes (6/5): Pleasant - Be mindful there's only a small ventilator, no a/c during summer. Meaning our room was very hot, as outside was 30°C too.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Kritsaran (6/5): Pleasant - Kindness
- くにあき (8/5): - 想像よりキレイでした。
- Ashley (8/5): Very good -
