Lack of quality, complained to the manager in the morning and was told they would get back to me. Never did. Very average hotel and not worth £120 , better places elsewhere.
- lynneo596 (10/5): Always made to feel welcome. - I visit Carnoustie often and have stayed at this hotel a few times, and now won't go anywhere else. Always made to feel welcome by all the staff. The rooms are spotless, the bar is inviting with lovely regulars, the food is delicious with a nice choice of meals. I can't fault it at all. A special Thank You to Ruth and Ava for always making sure my room is exactly as I like it, and for having a lovely smile all the time despite their hard work.

- M4826HVdawns (2/5): Terrible Experience.....Avoid! - Booked The 19th Hole whilst visiting friends in the area. Room was clean and most of the staff friendly. Has free parking to the rear of the hotel and is within walking distance to the promenade/seafront area of Carnoustie. On my night of arrival (friday) I noticed a guest being served steak pie at approx 8pm....enquired with a member of the bar staff could I order food and they advised no as the kitchen was now closed.....even though another member of staff had just that minute brought out steak pie for another guest in the hotel..... I ended up staying over an extra night and again booked my stay through Expedia and paid expedia on my debit card for the extra night as i get a discount with my blue light card. On check out I met "Linda" who advised me she had just returned from holiday. I advised I just wanted to check out. Linda advised they had not received payment for my extra nights stay....i advised i had booked with Expedia and that they would receive the payment from them in due course ....I even displayed my bank acc statement to them to confirm I had paid. Several days later Linda took an unauthorised payment from my debit card instead of chasing up Expedia for payment!..so i had then paid twice for the room I stayed in for the extra night! I ended up having to phone Expedia to explain the situation and what Linda had done. Expedia apologised profusely and refunded me my money that I had paid them. Terrible customer service from Linda and what an absolutely disgusting way to treat paying customers! I wont be back for that reason, avoid this hotel like the plague. Surprised you have any customers left if this is how you treat them.

- J1272EBerikaw (4/5): Nice apartment but grubby - We stayed in the golf suite for three nights … fantastic apartment with fantastic views but oh my goodness … - hairs in bath - dirty sheet on bed - so much dust.. the standard lights and tv were covered - filthy shower - blind didn’t work so could not open windows - extremely difficult to open patio doors - pepper pot empty and absolutely filthy - the hair dryer was covers in a film of filth It needs a refurb , settee worn out, flooring in bathroom awful…. Very tired apartment and very dirty sadly. For the money it costs we were not happy at all. What a shame …

- Lleyton (2/5): Accused of taking from mini bar - Absolutely disgraceful experience at the 19th Hole Hotel. When we arrived, there was literally no one at reception. We had to go hunting around the building like idiots just to find someone to check us in. As if that wasn’t bad enough, after leaving I discovered they had stolen £52 from my bank account for “mini bar usage” that I NEVER touched. This is blatant theft. The lack of service, the incompetence, and the dishonesty are shocking. I will never set foot in this place again and I strongly warn everyone else to stay far, far away.

- ducuti (2/5): Worst hotel break I have ever had!!! - Bar and food nice but the rooms not nice, stayed 3 nights first morning our room didn’t get cleaned but wasn’t to fussed about that but 2nd day cleaner only went in with fresh towels and more toilet rolls, bed not made dirty cups and glasses left and the cleaner must of used the toilet as there was poo in and on the toilet and it certainly wasn’t us and the new toilet roll that was left was dirty. Room was very noisy from the bar down stairs until 01:30am I wouldn’t recommend this hotel

- T (8/5): 19th Hole Hotel - Reception was unmanned on arrival and we had to spend 5 minutes looking for someone to help out. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean. It wasn't golf course facing, but towards a warehouse and had no balcony - as detailed in the images. Unsure if these images are for promotional purposes only, but if not they are misleading as not what you are getting.

- Luke (4/5): - We stayed at the hotel for one night for a rest stop while travelling home from a holiday. From arrival at the hotel, there wasn’t a receptionist present- there was a buzzer to ring but nobody came after 5 mins of ringing/waiting. My husband then went to search for a member of staff. When he eventually returned, we managed to check in but were informed that the kitchen was closed so we could not have dinner or breakfast- this was disappointing as we were all pretty hungry and was looking forward to meal and good nights sleep. The room itself was very nice. A good size, clean, and comfortable beds. Unfortunately it was very warm in the room- it did not have air conditioning as advertised, only a window that looked onto the beer garden/smoking area. After ordering a takeaway, we hoped for a peaceful sleep. Instead, we were kept awake well into the night with very loud music, shouting/screaming from the punters, and couldn’t open the window for any fresh air due to the large crowds outside. The music was similar to that of a nightclub- not what is expected of a bar/hotel. My children grew increasingly upset and after a while we did consider packing up and continuing our journey home so our children could at least rest in the car- but as we were both so tired, it did not seem like a safe option. Upon check out and another search for a member of staff- we were not asked anything about our stay. Overall, it’s good for those looking for a nightclub, but families should AVOID!!

- kats229 (10/5): Gem of a hotel in Carnoustie - This is a very nice independent hotel, with friendly, helpful staff and comfy rooms. It's very nicely maintained and spotlessly clean - it's really close to the beach (but it was too cold to spend much time there in February) and there are great range of local shops & takeaways in the nearby high-street. We all really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back the next time we visit Carnoustie!

If the cooks cant keep up with cooking for 14 people on a Saturday night, something is wrong :) Bar staff fairly rude also.
- R4851FZcatherinem (4/5): Kitchen closed !!! - Tried to order food at 19.30 on a Friday night, from the menus sitting on the bar. We were told the kitchen was not taking anymore food orders. This has happened to us before in here, despite advertising that food can be ordered until 20.00. The bar staff are always friendly but the kitchen is a bit hit and miss.

- _kjjslack (2/5): Not a good experience at all - When we arrived, there was noone at reception to help us. The parking was hard to find. The plug in the bath didnt work. The fridge was not working, the toilet seat was broken, and this was all within the first 2 hours of check in. The next day, we were offered breakfast in the pub, but no one was around to make or serve us breakfast. This trip has left us feeling more like we are a nuisance, more than anything else.

Large screens all around the bar area to catch up various sport events but on silent with background music. Reasonable prices too.

Some staff members seem to be more interested in gossiping with locals than paying attention to the hotel's guests.. Also the sound level is horrible. There are things to be put up. It used to be way better.. Although, what saves the stay here is the manager.

The bar downstairs also has a restaurant. The staff from checkin, bar, breakfast and checkout were all very pleasant and efficient. This is a great inexpensive place to stay for golf trip.

- Adrian (8/5): Great room, great food - Stayed one night, check in we handled by the busy bar staff who showed us up to our room which was obviously newly renovated. Parking is first come first served in the rear so get in early. Had dinner in the restaurant and I can say that the choices were excellent and everything we ordered was delicious. Very friendly staff and was located on a quiet street. Only downside is that the room got quite warm and there is no fan or AC that we could use.

- WEEBOY (6/5): Should have ordered carry out instead! - Opted to have meal as a last minute decision rather than usual carry out from local takeaway, wrong choice! Food was ok, apart from chips that had been cooked more than once, no taste and not many! Ordered combo steak/chicken fajitas and hubby ordered fish combo! A bit of a wait for food, which is a good thing. No cutlery or condiments on table so had to find our own from another table as staff too busy chatting amongst themselves! No member of staff come to ask how meal was either! Quite disappointed
- Daniel (8/5): The Uncomfy Bed - A very uncomfy ‘springy’ bed. I did get an apology, so hope the matter is addressed. I hardly got any sleep because of it. Therefore I wouldn’t stay here again. A good hotel overall, pub meal pretty average, but that bed !!

Being "strangers in a strange land", we can't emphasize enough how important this aspect was...to have friendly and helpful caretakers of the hotel. The only negative, if I could even call it this, was the small size of the room (which we knew about ahead of time) and the quality of the mattresses slept on.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable central accommodation. - Overall good service. Clean, warm comfortable room. Daily cleaning, changing of towels, topping up of refreshments. Fridge in room also a bonus. Central location. Free parking. Good value. Single rooms in house across road from main building. Food available in bar (advise booking if a weekend), plenty cafes, restaurants within walking distance. Only downside, for some reason bathroom bin had not been emptied from previous customer & wasn't emptied throughout 3 night stay.

- pjsc2013 (10/5): Great hotel location and staff - Superb location staff and bar the restaurant was having a refit but they were still serving food to a reduced capacity Russell met us on entry and he professionally should us all round the hotel with the information that we needed for our stay Rooms were perfect We had a great stay and would definitely not hesitate to stay there again

Only blemish was a customer complaining to staff rooms were not good enough etc, but unfortunately you get these parasites. If she has left a bad review please ignore as not accurate

- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable good value centrally located - Comfortable clean single room. My 'go to' hotel now when staying in Carnoustie. Very good value accommodation. Breakfast & meals available daily at additional cost. Bar. Free parking. Central location, close to shops, restaurants, beach, golf. Also close to train station & bus routes.
- hez1976 (6/5): Staff lovely and food ok - Food was ok and staff very nice and accommodating. Seemed to be lots of activities on in the bar side. Food was typical bar style and was nice. Good value for money and handy if you’re staying at the Golf hotel.
- 896sandiw (10/5): Great Food, Friendly Staff - Just had tea at the 19th. Fish was so tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection. Delicious food, great value and the staff were very friendly. Couldn’t fault our meal. Well worth a visit. Keep it local!

- john (6/5): - It was ok. our ground floor room view of disused hall and by pavement.although not noisy. Did not eat there so cannot comment. Mini bar in room which we didn't use. Bathroom water hot and clean towels, although areas need TLC. Main issue was bed uncomfortable felt springs all night. Green light in bathroom ?emergency, also large ?emergency light in bedroom on all night so if you like sleeping in a dark room is an issue. Recommend change matress or get matress topper. Nice choice of teas and coffees supplied.
