Guest Reviews
- Isobel (10/5): Would stay again - Absolutely amazing - clean room and great check in experience and overall well maintained hotel…would stay again!
- David (10/5): - A lovely small hotel. Fine restaurant too.
- John (10/5): - Lovely hotel, great staff. Excellent chef. Good menu. Parking outside in the front. Clean, comfortable & warm.
- Janice (8/5): - Warm, friendly welcome and super fast check in, compact but spotlessly clean room with lovely shower room and sizeable fitted wardrobe space. Lovely sleek wood
Flooring. Bed was so lovely and firm and had very crisp, cotton bedding and a
Deep, warm duvet; although heating system in room was very efficient. Pillows could be a bit plumper but heh this is France and that’s just a nit pick.
Local area lovely, can imagine lovely to walk around in good weather. Breakfast was really lovely; wide range for a continental breakfast and really decent coffee and fresh orange juice. This will be our first choice for French side stay on our travels from our French home down south to visits back to the UK 😀
- Simon (10/5): Great stopover - Spotlessly clean, very friendly, efficient staff, would stay again.
- Stephen (8/5): - Great location for me..good parking and a good breakfast..Restaurant was very busy..i didn't want dinner so can't give an opinion.
- Judith (10/5): - Staff were welcoming, efficient and always helpful. We enjoyed the food and the wine was excellent. Would recommend a visit.
- Angela (8/5): - Easy to find. Very friendly staff. Good food in the restaurant and reasonably priced. Parking directly in front of the hotel.

- Tina (8/5): Roadtrip - Was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel
Much nicer than expected
Great location for the war graves
Staff very helpful
Restaurant was fine very busy service good
Not really many options around the town
- Mark (10/5): Bapaum - Very nice hotel and restaurant, very friendly staff
- Tim (10/5): Genuinely pet friendly - Excellent stop over hotel. Friendly, well run, family feel hotel. Particularly helpful was that our small dog could stay with us whilst we ate dinner and breakfast. The food was first class. Really felt like part of the holiday rather than just a stop over.
- Mark (10/5): - The room was pristine. The restaurant served big end meals. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was a perfect place to a pend the night! Clean & quiet!
- Alan (10/5): Clean, Modern, Relaxing Hotel. - First stay here (7 nights) but won't be the last. Relied on past reviews to pick hotel in the area, to visit WW1 sites, this is a good central location and being just outside Bapaume close to the motorway, from Calais, easy to get to.
Other reviews do mention the fact there are cheaper Hotels nearby, for example Albert, that's fine but we found this a friendly quiet easy going hotel to stay. Yes the dress code is relaxed but isn't that sometimes the French way, the service isn't affected, in fact added to the individual atmosphere.
Small number of staff all hard working, all very helpful, the Chef served our main course in the restaurant which we thought was a nice touch. Friday seemed the busy night otherwise always room.
The hotel is very clean and modern, comfortable bed, great shower, continental breakfast and plenty of choice.
All in all a very relaxing week and will recommend to friends. Thank you Hotel de la Paix.
- Leonard (10/5): STop over - We use this hotel as a break from our trip down south. It is ideally situated for our purpose. Also it is ideally situated for tours of the WWW1 ballle fields etc
- David (10/5): - Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Great location, exceptional food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good size room, very good restaurant, handy location to laundromat.
- NANCY (8/5): - Nice hotel. Close to the sites we were interested in seeing .
- Stephen (10/5): Bapaume August 2018 WW1 sites - 4th time we have stayed at this hotel staff very friendly even if our french is not so good their english is better.Room very comfortable even on a hot day and food and drink also very good. Excellent place to use to visit the many WW1 sites that are in the area.We will be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight stop before early channel crossing - Just over an hour from Calais so perfect stop after a long drive through France. Even through we arrived late, there was plenty of parking. Didn't use the restaurant for dinner or breakfast and had little contact with staff as we arrived late and left early. Room was impeccably clean, spacious and very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 older teenage children - no sofa beds but proper beds for all 4. Lovely bathroom, quiet and good value for 4 people Would stay again after either a late crossing or before an early one.
- E (10/5): Nice quiet hotel in the heart of the battlefields. - We stayed in the family room, which was front-facing. It was really clean and modern inside. It must have been recently renovated. The aircon worked fantastically. We were there during the recent heatwave and it was brilliant. The bathroom looked as though it had recently been tiled and was fresh and modern. We stayed 2 nights and the beds were really comfortable. A really nice find in a small quiet town. I thought it might be noisy as we were facing the road, but after 9pm it was unbelievably quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great spot - friendly staff! Very flexible. Close to the battlefield.
- Tim (10/5): Recommended place to say - Our family of 4 stayed for a night whilst visiting the WW! cemetaries. Found the staff very friendly and the hotel throughout was clean, with good food. The bar was very welcome too after a long hot drive there... Would stay there again if we're in the area
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for families with large family rooms. - Simple fast check in which is what we needed after traveling all day. Large comfortable family room.
- Les (10/5): Perfect base for exploring this historic region - This is an excellent hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly, professional and helpful staff. As requested, my elderly mum had been given a ground floor room with a walk-in shower, which made things much easier throughout our stay.
The rooms were comfortable, clean and well equipped, with air conditioning, smart TV, wifi, tea and coffee making facilities and electronically operated window shutters.
Breakfast was the usual continental offering, with a good choice of good quality food served in the pleasant dining area near the well stocked bar. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant every evening, where we were able to choose from the excellent menu of delicious food and drinks, prepared and presented to a high standard.
The bar is open throughout the day and was a welcome environment to unwind and discuss our experiences visiting the various historic WW1 memorials, museums and war graves, many of which are within easy reach of the town of Bapaume, where the hotel is situated.
Bapaume itself has its own fascinating history, and is just a very short stroll from the hotel. There are also a number of small cafes and bars where you can mix with the locals, as well as browse the shops. We also made good use of the local patisseries!
All in all, we had an excellent stay at this lovely hotel. Highly recommended.
- Rodney (10/5): First class value - Excellent place to stay if you are visiting the Somme battlefield. Friendly staff, very good restaurant.
- Kiwi pilgrim (8/5): All there - The room had all the basic amenities and the staff were totally helpful
- David (10/5): Visiting Bapaume - Given we were visiting the Somme battlefields we could not have asked for a better location. Hotel restaurant was good and needed to be as there are few restaurants in Bapaume to get a meal. The hotel was so easy to find and on all the routes needed to explore the area.
- Kath (8/5): good if viiting Somme area - good even though we spoke very basic French we managed to get on
- David (10/5): Very pleasant hotel with good restaurant - Friendly staff, good restaurant and clean modern rooms at a competitive price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and smart small hotel . - Stayed here night before returning to uk via tunnel. Clean, smart , good restaurant, parking outside, and staff helpful. On edge of Baupame and close to many War cemeteries.
- Don (10/5): Clean and modern room - Room very clean and modern looking. Close to Beaumont Hamel Newfoundland Memorial park. Continental breakfast was good.
- Sue and Dave (8/5): On our way between Lille and Bayeau - The room was a little cramped and overlooked a brick wall but it suited our purpose
- Gunner on Wheel (8/5): Good for wheelchair users - Best hotel I have used with my wheelchair. shaving mirror very quickly available when it was realised bathroom mirror too high.
- Clare (10/5): Excellent stop off en route from Calais - Excellent hotel. South of Arras. About 90 mins from Calais. We stayed in a family room (no. 6). Seemed to be newly renovated. Everything pristine. Good shower. Double bed plus 2 singles for kids behind partial partition. Free parking. V friendly staff. Bar/cafe and restaurant seemed busy but we did not use. Kettle in room. Leclerc supermarket nearby. We had lazy fast food dinner in diner just next door to hotel. Throroughly recommend.
- Lee (8/5): Overnight stay - Hotel was very clean, good value, nice size family room.
- TW (10/5): Great hotel perfect for touring the Somme area - This is a simple basic hotel that has just been completely refurbished so everything is brand new and spotlessly clean. The staff speak limited English but were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were good , standard French ,continental, buffet type. We didn't eat at the restaurant but went to a local Italian called the Stromboli which was about 300m from the hotel. Overall a good hotel comfortable and clean. Centrally placed for touring the area particularly if you are doing the Somme battlefields.
- Baz (10/5): Modern hotel central to Somme battlefields - We used the hotel as a base for a 4 day visit to the Somme battlefields. Bapaume is a pleasant little town with essential shops and a small supermarket (with fuel pumps).
The hotel is modern and stylish. There is ample off-road parking. Bedrooms are clean, well equipped and comfortable.
We ate in the restaurant for 4 evenings and enjoyed the very good meals. There was plenty of choice on the menu.
The continental breakfasts were good.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
This was our second stay in this hotel and we would return again.
- Leslie (4/5): Disappointing stay - High price for a very basic hotel which we had used before and used again because the first time the restaurant was so good. This time the restaurant was not so good and we would not be using this hotel again.
- Patricia (10/5): A real gem. - Lovely well appointed rooms, modern and attractive.
Hotel restaurant was excellent, an imaginative menu which was very well cooked and presented. Breakfast was also good. Very friendly, attentive staff. Well placed for the Somme Battlefields.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent hotel
- Staff were very polite and helpful. Hotel is ideally situated for visiting the Somme area.
Meals were excellent although the menu had the same choices each day. Chicken as a main course was not offered.
The whole hotel was modern, clean and perfect for our visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great family room. Will definitely stay there next time we visit Bapaume.
- Derek & Sue (10/5): Great hotel for WW1 battlefield visits. - The hotel is really conveniently located for exploring the British sector from Vimy down to St Quentin. Easy to find. Plenty of parking just at the front of the hotel.
Room was warm and cosy. Absolutely dead quiet at night - no road noise at all (we had a room at the back). The room looked recently refurbished - everything was brand new and immaculately clean.
Staff quietly friendly. Their English was much better than our French!
We ate in one night (out of 3) and for variety, explored other restaurants in town.
We particularly liked Le Stromboli, an Italian restaurant 300 yards from the hotel at 37 rue de Peronne, that was absolutely packed to the rafters and turning away local people who hadn't booked. Luckily we'd arrived early (just before 7pm) on the Friday evening and they squeezed us in. We booked again for the Saturday night and left absolutely stuffed on both occasions. Worth either booking or arriving early to avoid disappointment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable, modern hotel with very friendly staff - Hotel de la Paix is a well appointed, modern hotel with a good restaurant and good facilities. The rooms are very clean and well laid out and the ensuite bathroom has a large shower and a heated towel rail which does a good job of providing heat for the bathroom as well. The continental style breakfasts were generous - you simply helped yourself to whatever you wanted - and the staff were always on hand to fetch more milk or coffee or anything that was required. We ate in the restaurant on two occasions and the food was very good; it also seemed reasonable value compared to similar restaurants. The hotel has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with ample seating in the bar area and restaurant; the staff help to make the environment comfortable by being friendly without being fussy and they are happy to help with anything. The only very slight caveat was that the Wi-Fi seemed a bit temperamental: you had to keep on re-logging in, but this may have had nothing to do with the hotel and it did work well once you had logged on. An excellent place to base yourself if you are visiting the Bapaume area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel. - Nice modern hotel. Rooms very comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced.
- Niklas (6/5): Doire and lights issues. - Door to room never closed properly. Light in bathroom with motion detector had a timer but was also connected to bed lights which then turned off when timer run out. Breakfast for 10€ was overpriced. Hotel in general ok.
- Mary (10/5): - The hotel is well located. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is good. The staff are friendly and helpful.
- mike (10/5): Quality hotel - Room size first class they appear to have been refurbished to a very god standard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ideal stop for the Somme - Clean, tidy and pleasant in an ideal situation with a very good restaurant.
- kate (10/5): Jewel of a hotel for visiting the Somme region - Perfect central location for a visit to the Somme. Also near to other good places to visit - Lille 1 h, Arras 40 m. The hotel is small and beautifully decorated. Rooms as usual in France are compact, here they are well designed - every inch of space cleverly used, everything works and looks very attractive. Service efficient and evening restaurant serves delicious food at a reasonable price for the quality - not a huge menu so fussy eaters may want to check it out - but we enjoyed the food very much. Breakfast was lovely too, more than adequate choice.
- Genie (8/5): Comfortable & convenient - Just the right accommodation for 3 nights' stay while visiting WW1 sites, and attending commemoration service.
