Guest Reviews
- Hendrik (10/5): -
- Deborrah (8/5): Very enjoyable and great food. - The location near the mountains and river surrounding the ranch. The unit was worn and old. Needs furniture and fabric updating.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- mary jo (4/5): Nice location - Be aware there is literally No Wi Fi. Not even in lodge area. - We liked the breakfast. The views and location very nice Did not like the required food plan. Thought it was expensive and too much food for us. We are on low fat / small portions meals. We wish we would have option to have food plan or not. We could have provided our own meals. We felt that we wasted food that we had to pay for. Did not like that it was mandatory and we had no choice.
- Cindy (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing retreat to escape the noise of the world. - This was our third staycation at the ranch and it never disappoints. The staff go above and beyond to ensure guests enjoy their stay. Rooms are comfortable, location is beautiful and meals are delicious. If there is anything you don't like the staff will gladly find a solution to ensure you enjoy your stay.
- Judith (10/5): - Travel back in time to quiet and slow days but with all the amenities necessary to recharge and unwind.
- Cortney (10/5): Beautiful views, welcoming staff - Beautiful scenic views from the porch Pool needs more upkeep/cleaned
- Gerardo (5/5): Meh - The staff was excellent Lack of bang for the buck
- Scott (10/5): - This place feels like you’re at summer camp again! The managers & other workers are so sweet & friendly. The setting is stunning. We did the two-hour kayaking excursion. When we came back, the lodge had boxed lunches that we had pre-ordered. Then dinner has way more special than you would imagine—apparently the main chef recently graduated from culinary school. The Wi-Fi signal is weak except in the main building, but that’s just all the better—this place lets you relax, reconnect with nature, & do a digital detox.
- Malcolm (10/5): - The view from the property was absolutely amazing. There are plenty of options of things to do on your stay. We stayed for only two nights but certainly could have stayed longer. The breakfast, box lunch & dinner was excellent. Everyone on the property was extremely friendly & treated you like family. We certainly will stay there again when in the area.
- Enrique (10/5): - Great place would me nice to have WiFi and tv in cabins for evening relax
- Lauren (8/5): - My husband and I loved our stay at the ranch! The employees were wonderful! The scenery was sublime, and the ranch offered all the help and activity you could want. The kayak guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. 100% reccommend a trip down the Salt River! Wild horses and plentiful fish were just some of the beautiful wildlife we got to see on our trip. Its was so nice to be close to so many excellent hiking trails and awesome Saguaro Lake. Breakfast was great everyday, the pancakes were a favorite. All in all, definitely recommend for a couples getaway, family vacation or weeked staycation! We will definitely be back!
- Katrina (10/5): Beautiful and special place - The ranch seemed so much more organized than previous years we have went. The space is beautiful and its a direct flight for us, so we have gone like 3 or 4 times. While it is hard to imagine having a bad trip in such a beautiful and special place, on our previous visits the staff seemed a little more rigid and made things a little less fun. This time everything seemed to work more smoothly. When they told us the code to the pre-breakfast coffee area, they only gave us the numbers, they forgot the # and *. It would have been helpful if they wrote out the the entire set of numbers and symbols we needed to enter to get in.
- Benita (10/5): - The views are spectacular. I wish I could’ve enjoyed the activities. The only downside is the drive back into the city, about a 20-40 minute drive depending on where you’re going. Staff was wonderful, and breakfast was great!
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brandon (10/5): - Great staff and great place to stay, relax and enjoy the scenic views!
- Carpenter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanessa (10/5): - Unique setting with access to Tonto National Forest hiking, kayaking, ATV riding and on-site horseback riding. Big pool, ping pong, campfires, and lawn games. Family friendly. Food was chef prepared and outstanding. We will be back!
- Greg (9/5): Absolutely breathtaking views and so peaceful - Very peaceful , relaxing and staff and food were excellent Maybe had the firepit lit at night
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional - The view, atmosphere, history, food, river Nothing
- Ronald (9/5): The kids loved it! - Thank you John for taking care of us during our stay. Beautiful location. Great breakfast. The tubing is very good fun!
- Emily (10/5): - I recently had the pleasure of staying at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, nestled in a beautifully quiet area that offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The serene surroundings of the ranch, set along the Salt River, were a perfect backdrop for a truly relaxing vacation.
The ranch itself was wonderful, with comfortable accommodations and excellent service. The variety of activities available was impressive and made our stay even more enjoyable. We spent our days kayaking on the pristine river, horse riding through scenic trails, and paddle boarding in the calm waters. For those who enjoy hiking, the nearby trails offered breathtaking views and a chance to immerse in nature.
One of the highlights was simply swimming in the river or taking a dip in the ranch’s well-maintained pool. Both provided a refreshing way to cool off and unwind.
Overall, Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch exceeded our expectations. It's a perfect destination for anyone looking to enjoy a mix of adventure and relaxation in a beautiful, tranquil setting. We can't wait to return!
- Tina (10/5): Magical - The STAFF and location couldn’t have been more magical’ Pool condition-
- Judy (8/5): Nice out of the city stay seems great for corporate team building or family reunions. - The views are beautiful. Breakfast was very nice and a nice touch to our day. The tubing down the river was nice and we also enjoyed visiting the lake and taking the desert Belle lake cruise with live music which was close by. Cabins are due for an upgrade in the bathroom.
- Micki (8/5): Beautiful, family- friendly property to have fun, relax, unplug - Staff is friendly and helpful.
Amenities were plentiful and fun.
Property is stunning! Mattress was very hard and it made it difficult to sleep. When anyone moved, the bed bounced like crazy and everyone was awaken.
- Labrie (10/5): Excellent, clean and an outstanding place - Very quaint, old ranch hotel, impeccably clean very close to bigger cities. The rooms were decorated in western decor, comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet every morning was outstanding along with the ranch dinners in the Lodge. All the employees were extremely friendly and accommodating. The pool was great, the views were stunning. Nothing. I didn't want to leave and will definitely be going back again.
- Kora (10/5): Would recommend anyone to stay, scenery was beautiful and the stay was very cute and cozy - Friendly staff, clean rooms, games to play and an accommodative room with appliances N/A
Stay was amazing
- Mary (10/5): - This is a really special place, primarily due to the staff (who likely include the owners). They were very welcoming and accommodating. The cabins are quaint and get the job done, in a somewhat rustic way. We enjoyed their communal dinner twice and it was fantastic, and breakfast was great, too. I would definitely stay there again!
- Anna (9/5): Perfect relaxing end to a fab 10 days in Arizona. - The location by the river was stunning. There is so much to do there - pool, games, swimming, axe throwing, badminton and much more. The breakfast was the best of all the 6 places we stayed in Arizona. The staff were super friendly. Distance from restaurants for dinner.
- Anna (10/5): - This is a one of a kind of place. You fall in love instantly. Can’t wait to come back for longer.
- Cheryl (9/5): excellent - would stay here again. Loved watching the horse go out each day and do the river crossi - Location was amazing and the Breakfast were outstanding. Most of staff super friendly Cabins are comfortable - really liked being right down at the river IT would be nice to have a larger fridge and a couple kitchen items like a BBQ so we didn't have to drive into Mesa for dinner each night. There were cowboy BBQ's but they were quite expensive so we didn't participate. Also did the kayak trip on the river and it is not what is advertised so that was a bit disappointing. I realize the river was very low at this time but wished we would have been told what to expect for our trip as I was disappointed.
- Mark (10/5): - Great views and nearby hiking. Very friendly and helpful staff
- Arocho (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): - Beautiful location. Views can't be beat.
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (10/5): - Wonderful place.
- Pam (10/5): - There are no words to describe the beauty of this resort or the kindness of the staff. By far the best experience I have ever had traveling…the scenery was breathtaking, SO many activities to keep us all occupied, VERY peaceful, food was 5 star and the staff went above and beyond on everything. Loved our accommodations - clean and spacious. We cannot wait to go back and will recommend it to everyone we know! Thank you for such an amazing experience!
- Kittell (9/5): Superb -
- Jens (10/5): We were so enchanted by this beautiful ranch that we plan to return! - It is in such a gorgeous location that we loved looking at the mountains, especially the jagged ones! It’s so peaceful for being so close to a large city like Phoenix.
We are horse lovers so that was a huge draw for us, too!!! The people were all very friendly as well. Nothing!
- Martin (8/5): A fun time in a beautiful location - Beautiful location, very friendly staff, and good breakfast
- Maya (9/5): We loved the ranch, and we are sure we will return in the future, - The staff was great. The view is amazing. The breakfast was very good. We laved the outdoor and indoor games. We enjoyed the cowboy dinner, horseback riding and rafting the ranch offered. The air conditioner in the cabin was a bit noisy
- julianna (8/5): - We loved the charm, comfort, and beauty of this property. The pool was heated, which we appreciated. The walking trails were poorly marked so we didn't get where we thought we would, though it was very scenic. Some minor improvements I would have liked include more hooks on the walls, particularly in the bathroom. A grab bar in the shower would also have been nice. A big plus would be in the food area. We didn't expect this and had to drive 15 miles to get something to eat for dinner. Even a cup-o-noodles would have been sufficient. Also, I think it's great that they offer vegan breakfasts, but not all of us are that stringent: I had to ask for butter and cream. The only negative thing we experienced was when they pumped the septic tank. It was near our cabin and it smelled quite nasty. Going outside was unpleasant, as was opening the door! Since it was fairly brief, it won't keep us from returning. Perhaps we'll be in Arizona next year! Thanks to the ladies at the front desk - you were all very friendly.
- Rebecca (9/5): Really a lovely place - Wonderful setting. Great birding. Very kind staff Mattress was very uncomfortable
- Emily (10/5): - Amazing hiking and property
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - The staff could not have been more helpful and the location is stunning. Not much not to like. Its probably a place that is better enjoyed if you have your own transport, but otherwise all good 👍
- Kim (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Restful, Relaxing, Peaceful - On a whim, we booked a cabin at this "ranch". We loved it so much, we never left the property our entire 3-night booking. The food was the best you can find, the staff were the most friendly and helpful we have ever had, and we were able to relax and truly enjoy our time here. We hated to leave! If you want a getaway that's relaxing yet fun, we highly recommend!
- Robert (10/5): Staff was very veryfriendly and accommodating. -
- Philip (10/5): An authentic experience! - Stunning location. Exceptionally friendly staff. An interesting place to stay.
- Jessica (10/5): - We can’t wait to visit again! The property is AMAZING, horses were on sight super convenient. They had a number of options for rafting, kayaking, hiking, the kids swam in the pool and there were a bunch of pool toys there. Beautiful view, staff was incredible, we are planning to go back and do the guided hike. The cabins are small and the beds were not great but that is always a risk when traveling.
- Linda (10/5): - This is a hidden gem. So unique and beautiful
- Lopez (10/5): Exceptional - The view The beds
- Laurie (10/5): Best Kept Secret!! - Love this place! Location is supreme and the scenery is gorgeous! It sits on the salt river where you can begin your kayaking or tubing without the crowds. The personnel that work there are fantastic and so friendly! I really can’t say enough about this place! 5th time there and will go back again. The BBQ with live music was a lot of fun and the food was so good!
- Tatiana (8/5): I cannot wait to return and enjoy the beauty and peace! - You can’t beat the view!!! Breathtaking-especially from the river. We loved the porch, the pool, the breakfast and the wonderful staff. The water adventures are amazing and we will definitely be back for more kayaking and a horseback ride. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves and the nightly bat show was unreal. Fabulous time! The pool toys and area could use a bit of an update but watching the rabbits while swimming quickly put it out of mind.
- Cindy (10/5): Great place to relax, disconnect from the daily grind, and reconnect to the beauty of Arizona. - The location was perfect, we were able to enjoy kayaking and tubing on the river within steps from our room. The outdoor yard games and swimming pool gave us plenty of things to do. Our room was comfortable with rustic charm. Every staff member was friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. Small inconvenience for coffee addicts. No coffee machine in the room. My husband and I are usually up by 5am and enjoy our morning coffee. We survived on cold can coffee until the delicious hot coffee was available in the dining room around 7:30am right before the fantastic breakfast.
- Denise (8/5): Didn't get to finish due to incident but plan to go back and finish it when I'm better! - Beautiful scenery and staff was so awesome! No tv and wifi didn't work
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - People that work there. Location, animals and birds
- Holly (10/5): - My family had a great time on the river! The staff at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch were amazing! They were very friendly, helpful and kind. My 12 year old son even commented on how nice they were! The grounds were nicely kept and our cabin was perfectly rustic. We will definitely be back!
- Tucker (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything and mostly the river!! Nice view of the mountain. Just the bugs next time I need bug repellent.
- Vitalii (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed 2 nights and didn't want to leave. Awesome quiet ranch with amazing nature surroundings. Personnel is the best. Nice pool area, kayaking and tubing available. Good breakfast.
- Jason (10/5): Amazing location and great blast from the past experience - the rustic original feel to the cabins and office nothing this place might not be for everyone but it is perfect for me.
- Kristi (8/5): Very good - We loved the overall experience, love that it is secluded from the craziness of Arizona's Salt River and Lake systems. Staff was all very nice and accomodating. The breakfast was the best amenity by far, great food and love the freshness of it all. We loved that they had so many activities to do. Great place, loved all the trails, and other amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. A few more garbage cans around the property would be nice. With the fact that you bring all your own food, other than breakfast, you fill up the little garbage cans in the rooms quickly. The afternoon/evening front desk lady was nice, but seemed put out when I brought up two of our rooms garbage bags after we had our dinner and asked where to dump it and for more bags to put in the room. She stated that if we would leave the garbage on the patios before noon the staff would pick up. (We filled our garbage up with dinner and didn't want it sitting in our room all night) So, the next day one of our rooms had a full bag of garbage and we left it on the patio when we headed out for the day. We returned around 3 p.m and the garbage was still sitting on the patio. Also, a little clearer instruction on who can eat in the dining area. We saw 2 parties take their lunch/dinner into the dining area and spread out to eat. When we tried to take dinner in one night we were turned away, by the same lady who we discussed the garbage with, stating we could not bring outside food into the dining area.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Craig (10/5): relaxing and rejuvenating! - setting was gorgeous. breakfast was delish. nothing
- Stan (10/5): Exceptional -
- 6bucks (10/5): Amazing stay! - We loved it so much we ended up staying 4 days instead of three. The views are incredible and so many fun activities.. The breakfast is delicious. and changes every day.. Box lunches are delicious and available for purchase. Horseback riding on site. We did the hour and a 1/2 ride in the morning and on another day we did the hour ride in the evening. Both rides were spectacular.. Betsy & Marrcel are great. John & Shawna Lee are awesome, All the staff is amazing. Celeste, Holly, Vanessa, Ana, Amber, and the Chefs!! I also did a beautiful hike with Cooper as the guide. Sorry if I forgot anyone! We will be back! I couldn't stay longer!
- Mike (8/5): fun nature getaway - beautiful setting with rustic western flair
- Mari (10/5): - The property was so unique and rustic. We loved it! Although the rooms were older and needed a little bit of updating, we still thorough enjoyed ourselves.
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet, great staff, good location, relaxing, comfortable bed, great breakfast. Lots of types of birds!
- Amy (10/5): - Saguaro Ranch is a hidden gem tucked away in Tonto Park. I’m so glad I stumbled upon it during my search for a hotel on Expedia. It was rustic but had upgrades where you would want them. The only downside was that there was limited WiFi. Typically I wouldn’t have minded, but I was there on a business trip. I wish I could’ve stayed longer! My hope is to visit again with my family. Thank you Saguaro Ranch for a great visit.
- Geoff (10/5): Excellent stay - Grounds, facilities, breakfast, staff All great.
- Tami (10/5): So Beautiful!!! - An absolutely beautiful location, a charming guest ranch. Staff were amazing and so helpful. 5 stars def recommend
- Lora (10/5): - A place to loose yourself in nature’s beauty. Fun people lots to do yummy food. I would definitely come back and bring the kids. Wild horses beaches kayaking you name it it’s here for your enjoyment.
- 14azm06 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Disarro (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent staff. Amazing location. Very quiet and secluded.
- Maria Agnes (10/5): - This place is truly a hidden gem. The staff are super friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Great hiking and activities and beautiful scenery right from your cabin porch. You’re just a 15 minute drive from downtown Mesa but you’re completely in immersed in nature. The “golden hour” when the sunset reflects off the cliffs and mountains is worth the visit alone.
- Julie (9/5): A desert paradise close to Phoenix - Such a stunning location within easy reach of Phoenix. We didn't expect this oasis of peace to be around a half hour drive from Sky Harbor Airport. The breakfasts were delicious and generous. There's horseback riding and kayaking on the doorstep. The staff are incredibly welcoming and the cabins were delightful. We had a wonderful morning horseback ride with Amber who introduced us to the flora and fauna. If we had stayed another day we would have gone kayaking. I wish we could have stayed longer to get more out of our visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent experience
- Fritz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- C (10/5): Will be coming back. - The staff and amenities were wonderful. The lodging and structures are very old, so you must understand that prior to judging the condition of the rooms and main building, but they have been kept up with and in great condition. The rooms have a very nostalgic feel to them which is definitely part of the charm of this place. Loved everything about it.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - hot breakfast was good
view of butts was good
location to casino, foundation hills & mesa was good a/c next to bed--blowing on upper body--hard to sleep
next night turn sheets around so blowing on legs which were covered--worked ok for us.
thanks for a/c --could not image sleeping at night in summer w/o it--but the workers on the dam did it--tough nuts.
- Darlene (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were big and comfortable and you can park your vehicle right outside of your room. The scenery is beautiful
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michiel (8/5): Very good - beautiful outdoors at your doorstep rooms are very basic and small
- Connie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): - The ranch is a gem. Tucked away, w/beautiful surroundings.

- Peggy (10/5): - Great customer service.
- Sharon (10/5): - The grounds were beautiful, the breakfast food was good and the staff was amazing!
- Ceasar (10/5): - This is the best ranch there is in Arizona. It has tons of things to do from riding horses to fishing by the lake. The greatest was good and the best service you can get. Everyone is friendly and helpful and would recommend anyone looking for a calm and peaceful vacation to look no further.
- Danielle (10/5): - Our family of six loved our time at the ranch!
- Ann (10/5): - Everything was wonderful!

- Michael (10/5): - My family enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. We will be coming back. The staff was incredible.
- Luz (10/5): Great place for vacation. - Beautiful place to relax and be with the nature. The ranch offers kayak and tubings, that a family can really enjoy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it's beautiful property in a secluded location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was beautiful. The surrounding, landscaping, everything about the place was great. Only improvement I would suggest is New Shower Heads in for the bathroom. Other than that I absolutely Loved and Enjoyed my stay.
