- Bryan (8/5): - Good location but property isn’t what I was hoping for in terms of quality of rooms and up keep.
- Niki (8/5): - Staying in a converted monastery was such a unique and memorable experience. As soon as I walked in, the church-like atmosphere was striking and gave the hotel a very special character. The room itself was clean and comfortable, although the fluorescent-style lighting was a bit too harsh for the eyes. I had been looking forward to dinner at the hotel, as I had heard it was excellent. Unfortunately, because of a wedding, I was told it would not be available, and no alternative arrangements for hotel guests were provided. This was quite disappointing. The following morning, I had to check out early at 6:00 a.m., so I couldn’t enjoy breakfast, and when I asked for some water at the front desk, I was told there was none, which also left me a little disappointed. That being said, the hotel’s interior design and atmosphere are truly beautiful, and it is definitely a place worth visiting at least once.

- Scott (6/5): - The rooms are small, this hotel used to be a convent. We were disappointed with the room, places at the back of the property with no view. The hotel is at the top of the hill in Fourviere and you need to take the underground Fernicular (sp?) to get downtown. The shower head leaked and the stopper in the sink was broken. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.

- A. Darwin (10/5): - The Fourviere Lyon was a total surprise for us. Upon arrival, we found a high quality hotel created from an abandoned convent built in mid 1800's. The structure is built in a square with an enclosed courtyard which offers a peaceful, walkable area for the patrons. Surrounding the hotel are ancient ruins of a Roman arena. Lots of history here!
- Susana (10/5): - This hotel is amazing. The grounds and reestructure were originally a convent. The lobby has high domed ceiling with outstanding artwork, as well as the floors dazzling mosaics. The large courtyard with what now are enclosed halls are light and airy with the beautiful windows. The renovated rooms are extra large, tall ceilings, again the gorgeous windows, bathrooms are modern and large. The bar in the lobby is so cool and cozy. Great bang for my buck.
- Kellie (6/5): - This hotel was just ok. It's very difficult to get to. Views are beautiful but not worth the hike to get up there. The rooms are small even for Europe. The breakfast is not great. The coffee is horrible. Service at the restaurant is slow and the choices are limited. I would not recommend.

- Eric (8/5): - I loved the property overall, very historic and our room was fantastic option for our family. What I did not like was the air conditioning was not working in the main bedroom the staff knew this and we still had to ask for a fan which helped. I also did not love the service at the hotel Resturant, first we went down for dinner and were turned away as we needed advance reservations which seemed ridiculous considering there were tables available ( we sat at the bar area and watched) and when we did book it I tried to show my waitress how I wanted my steak cooked and she just said I know, I know and instead of medium rare it was brought medium well! On top of that it was overly salty ( the only meal in Lyon to not come out perfectly). Advice to the staff, listen to your clients, don’t assume.

- Andrew (2/5): - Long story short. We were given a room with broken AC. When we checked into our room it was unbearably hot. The Staff lied to us and told us that the AC was working but just slow. We asked for a room with working AC and were told all comparable rooms were checked out and that we were out of luck. We went out for the day because our room was too hot to relax in. When we got back at 10:30 pm the room was still uncomfortably hot and the staff then admitted that there was probably something wrong with the AC and that they could upgrade us to a bigger room. When we got to the bigger room, it was not precooled and we weren’t sure the AC in the hotel actually worked so we just took our original room. They gave is a fan and a sheet and told us their manager would make things up to us in the morning. The next morning the manager offered to wire us a refund if we got her our banking info. After emailing back in forth with this inattentive manager, we found out they were only going to refund us 20 Euros, which wasn’t fair compensation to us for being given a room with broken AC in the middle of the summer or worth the bother of figuring out an international money transfer. The lobby and hallways are also not climate controlled, so I’m left to wonder if this 4 star hotel can’t afford air conditioning. I would advise anyone else that doesn’t like sleeping in an oven to stay away.

- Lisa (6/5): - Beautiful property but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. For example, no irons, no water, no washcloths, sparse decor and a very tiny window that made it feel like a jail cell. The restaurant was excellent, but stuffy service, and the breakfast was just ok. Overall it was not welcoming, and as beautiful as the grounds were, it wasn't worth the money. Visit for lunch, but don't stay.
- Julia (10/5): - Beautiful monastery restored! Lovely breakfast included, great bar and restaurant, and lovely to eat and sip in the courtyard. I wasn’t aware when I booked it that it was at the top of the hill… hard to determine on a two-dimensional map! But what a treat to discover it! Easy 5 min walk to the Roman amphitheater, and another 5 min to the Basilica and the funicular to take you down to the old, lively city center. It was very hot while we were there and the A/C (like many European hotels) was not very powerful. But overall a wonderful experience.

Aircon appreciated in 35 degree heat. Parking easy (if a little expensive). Lovely spa area included in the room rate. City is walkable but be prepared for an uphill climb back!

- Theresa (10/5): Peaceful & Relaxing Close to Everything - Beautiful hotel. Eco Friendly, Swimming pool, spa and steam room for guests. I also had a massage which was well priced and a decent massage. Restaurant on premise is very nice . Only a short walk to the sites and short uphill stroll back but everything with in 20 mins walk and so peaceful and relaxing. Right next to the Roman ruins. Great part of town . 8 min walk to Notre Dame Cathedral. 30 mins down to river. I would stay here again. Great spot
- Gary (6/5): - Property was unique and staff were generally nice . No air conditioning, hotel made the decision to turn it off , "it was not hot enough to justify it being on " . It was 27 degrees c .pool needed cleaned and the jacuzzi had a strong chlorine smell and the spa needed a clean in my opinion. Restaraunt was good and was fairly priced . Staff at the restaurant were friendly and knowledgeable about their menu . Head chef also came out to wish us a happy meal . Wasn't a bad hotel but the no air conditioning made the stay uncomfortable. Wouldn't be my first choice in Lyon again.

Our room had a great view of the Cathederal and was easy walking distance from both funiculars. The breakfast was very good and offered lots of options to suit my dairy intolerance. The indoor spa and outdoor heated pool were very relaxing.

Great hillside location outside the centre close to the Basilica overlooking Lyon -which is a 25 minute downhill walk. If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city this will be perfect . Very Comfortable rooms, quality linens and robes and very impressive service throughout the hotel. Restaurant well worth visiting for incredible food. Small spa - long lap pool in the quiet gardens - very uncomfortable sunbeds ! Apart from that small niggle - very Highly recommended.

The cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional, with every area well-maintained and spotless. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would definitely return!

- Louise (10/5): - Beautiful property in a quiet but convenient area. Lovely spacious rooms, which were impeccable. Real bonus to have the heated swimming pool in November. Staff were very gracious and accommodating. A few improvements to suggest: maybe some hotel and area information in the rooms would be good; the ‘international TV channels’ advertised aren’t accessible (not an issue for us, but some people may be expecting these); reorganisation of the breakfast area - it’s a stunning setting but quite chaotic due to lack of space between tables and food self service areas. Overall, a beautiful, well maintained hotel, good value and worth the effort of the funicular to Fourvière. We would definitely return here.

Felt like I was staying in a room run by a municipality, stale and felt like a dorm room !! Unable to access pools or hot tubs because I wouldn’t buy a bathing suit from them. Avoid this place at all cost !!! Room nog clean either

- David (10/5): - This was just an overnight stop over and was convenient for our plans. A lovely property at the top of Lyon so not advisable if you want to walk into the centre but an easy stroll to the cathedral and great views over the city. If we had hot water on the morning we were departing I would have not hesitated to give an excellent score all around. I would also add that the drinks are expensive a bit of an annoyance at many hotels which puts you off stopping at the bar but that’s not a complaint.

- Martin (10/5): Short break in Lyon - Beautiful hotel away from the buzz of the city but easy to get to using public transport. A little bit of luxury
- Tyson (10/5): - Wonderful unique property. Walking distance to Roman museum, basilica Notre-Dame of Fourvière and tram to Lyon shopping and dining. Nice spa and we enjoyed the quiet area around the pool.
- Pamela (10/5): An absolute must when in Lyon! - A short stay before embarking on a river cruise. We loved everything about our stay! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast with an extensive variety of choices on the courtyard lawn. The pool was a 10/10! And on a hot summer day the AC was a wonderful reprieve. This will easily be added to our list of places to return.

- Dawn (10/5): - What a beautiful property in an old cloister! While not in the middle of Lyon, it was not too far to the funicular down to old Lyon.
- Eleanor (10/5): - Such a pretty hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Nice comfy rooms (very generous with towels - amazing) and lovely facilities. The pool and garden are beautiful and easy to relax and while away a day in. The food and drink prices are high (40 euros each for breakfast!) but we found lots of lovely places in the local neighbourhood instead (especially the Boulangerie in St Just - amazing). Highly recommended.
