- Ela Bar (10/5): Amazing hotel highly recommend 💗 - The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The room was one of the best I stayed in, a specially considering it is an urban one and so central. It was incredibly spacious and the beds are the comfiest!!! Sparkling clean and super modern. We also loved the bar. Great location!!!! Everything was just minutes away. Highly recommend. We wanted to thank Dave from reception for being so so kind and generous, it was much appreciated ❤️ Everything was superb.

- Vince A (6/5): Art Deco only goes so far... - The Art Deco is charming. The majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. The 5pm social hour was nice, with complimentary wine, but food should also be offered (for a sale). Rooms are aged. Cupboard doors and storage could be better, either offer a water bottle for everyday of stay or not at all. If you want people to refill their own water, how about leaving them something to refill??? One doorman, whose uniform was too tight, was rude and abrasive, and insisted on lecturing me on how over-worked the “poor” housekeeping staff are, and my room would get serviced when they were available. When I asked him to remember I was the customer, he decided to march up and down the reception area shouting “LETS GET ROOM 511 CLEANED NOW”. This seemed to be funny to the other staff and clearly this poor chap has been employed on a special program – but still not great for customers. Also IHG, if you don’t want to clean my room, then let me know before booking or offer a CASH discount. Let’s say a 20% room rate reduction? Otherwise STOP asking if I prefer my room to be unserviced… It wont save the earth, it will just give you more profit. And I come to a “5-Star” hotel to get fresh towels snd my room cleaned – without this I’m at home… STOP trying to make me feel guilty about having a hard earned holiday and get more staff and train the ones you have to respect where their pay cheque comes from. Not using IHG again if this is what is on offer. Service hovers around the 3 star point and one bad staff member rots the whole thing.

- SeetheWorldExplorer (4/5): Very underwhelming experience - Do NOT arrive before 4pm checkin time! Even with rooms available, they refused to honor an early checkin and claimed the hotel was completely full, yet all room categories were available for sale the night prior. If you do arrive early beware they will oddly also NOT offer you the wifi password nor allow you to use any credits for lunch or breakfast before officially checking in. Instead the lobby was more of a refuge camp filled with people waiting for rooms. Beware most inside inside facing rooms have zero privacy. All windows look literally into other rooms and be careful of that for privacy concerns! Overall, terrible staff interactions and untrained management made this a negative experience. Highly recommend staying elsewhere.

I have no complaints about the room. It suited us. The meal we had in Luke's Kitchen was fabulous. I have no complaints. The view from the room could have been better, but that is nit-picking. There was nothing we hated. Nothing was broken. Everything was clean.

- Binman62 (8/5): Great Choice - This is a very nice hotel and the building is a conversion from an office block which was once the offices for Sydney water. Consequently there are many period items which date back to grander times such as Marble pillars, beautiful floors and period windows. Location is great My room was huge and very comfortable on the second floor. Huge bathroom, very comfortable bed and generally well appointed. The staff were wonderful, everyone one of them and the location is perfect for getting around the city. My one issue was breakfast. It is an overly fussy à la carte offering. The food is delicious, beautifully presented with generous portions, but it takes forever to get served. A black coffee, known as a long black, never took less than 10 minutes to be served and one morning the second cup never arrived at all. I asked for toast on one morning and got 3 small pieces of sourdough which was perfect, but the next day it took 15 minutes to deliver the toast shown in the image. Personally I rarely eat full cooked breakfasts and prefer coffee juice and toasts, possibly with cold cuts. I also much prefer to serve myself as it is simply quicker. This was simply not an option (I did ask) Breakfast like this is a treat if you have time and wish to linger but it’s far from ideal if you like a more relaxed and easier breakfast offering.

- Catherine (5/5): Wouldn’t go again hi - The location was great. The atrium and roof top bar was stunning Trying to put us in an accessible room when we have no need for one, which is against my professional ethics. The most uncomfortable bed we used in five weeks of travel across Australia.

- Marius40 (10/5): Great Location, employees and room! - I stayted four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. I combined an American Express Edit Package and a Chase Sapphire package to get four nights, upgraded room, four breakfasts and $280 in food credit ($140 twice) Front desk employee Dave was great and was very helpful. Upgraded to a premium room on the fifth floor, okay views and more importantly very quiet. Breakfast was not buffet but you choose any entree plus two sides, very filling. Fitness center excellent. First dau, I noticed one of the two Peloton bikes not working, called it to the attention of David in Maintenance (another shoutout) and he called Peloton and had it fixed by the next day. Also, David and his staff check the fitness center every day looking for issues. Impressive. Room very comfortable, sofe and nice bed. Internet worked fine. Bar on roof was very nice, pool was small but refreshing. Easy to get to from airport, five stops on T-8 and walk two blocks. Hyde Park also two blocks away. A total score! Cheers! Marius
- Simone (10/5): - Lovely reception/bar area. Room was very spacious and clean. Rooftop pool & bar was a nice area to relax in too. The reception staff were very helpful in locating my lost property.
- SR22 (6/5): Dark converted office building - This converted office building has a lovely lobby and restaurant, but the rooms lack of natural light is downright creepy. There are no outdoor sightlines to see anything but other buildings. If you must stay here, get a room on the upper floors. The second floor was so dark that we packed up and moved rooms after 2 nights of our 5 night stay.
- galtons (10/5): Meets the high Kimpton standards! - Have thoroughly enjoyed several Kimpton hotels overseas so was looking forward to a stay at the Margot, and it did not disappoint. The hotel lobby and lounge are stylish and welcoming and we enjoyed the complimentary happy hour one night of our stay. The rooms are very thoughtfully designed, and spacious and comfortable and with all amenities you could want for a short stay. The bed was supremely comfortable and the room lovely and quiet despite being in the centre of the city. The bathroom was spacious and with luxury amenities. The gym was good, and there is a small but pleasant rooftop pool. If you need to be in the CBD, then this a great hotel and very centrally located. Personally I find the area, like most of the Sydney CBD, to be dirty and not particularly appealing. However you can easily walk to the harbour or Surry Hill from the Margot and of course the metro is nearby.

- Ian (4/5): Staff were good but issues noted above - lack of proper wardrobe, high price and mini-bar issue. - Location of hotel was good. The ability to leave travel cases before check-in and after check-out was helpful. The nightly rate of over $600 for the room only was far from reasonable when you note the dated feel of the room and that there was no appropriate hanging space for your clothes. The hotel room was certainly dated and needs refurbishment. Annoyingly, we were charged for a coke from the mini-bar. We don't drink coke and NEVER use mini-bars in any of the hotels we have stayed at in USA, Europe, Iceland, Japan, Scandinavia and the Baltics. Despite asking for an invoice at the time of check-out we did not receive same until days late via email. Upon checking the invoice and noted the charge for the mini-bar item that we did not use. Raised the matter with the hotel and they admittedly refunded the amount expeditiously but there was never an explanation why we were charged for something that we did not use. Doubt that we would use an IHG group hotel again.

- pmny (8/5): Nic hotel in central Sydney - Very nice hotel located in central Sydney. Building has cool art deco architecture and originally housed the offices of the Sydney Water Department. Lobby restaurant, Luke’s Kitchen, was very nice and we had satisfying breakfast’s there. Our room, King bed with living area, was very spacious and comfortable. Weather wasn’t the best so we did not have opportunity to enjoy rooftop pool. Overall very nice hotel.
- N8894NZdaniell (8/5): Quirks and Charm - I’m a big fan of the Kimpton brand and this hotel was quirky and unique. This hotel is located inside a historic building and you have to look for the signs to enter. Once inside the lobby is large and busy and check in was easy and attentive. I was upgraded to a corner suite which was massive. It had a powder room and a full bath which I had never had before. Walking the hallway was very interesting because some of the floorboards creaked loudly. Service was friendly but at breakfast the staff were stretched thin. The location was in the heart of the CBD and everything was closeby.

- afoster1968 (10/5): Excellent 5 star hotel - Beautiful hotel. Lobby is amazing. The little coffee pantry does lovely coffee and pastries. Check in was easy. Our room was very comfortable and we had the best 7 nights sleep. The hotel is very central and the light rail is only a couple of minutes walk away which can take you to the central quays, Sydney opera house. A special thank you to Charlotte who served our breakfast and gave us some great tips on where to visit. I would definitely recommend a stay here. First class service.

- Craig (10/5): Excellent apart from unexpected room service - Its was an easy access to shopping center and public transports. The main entrance was difficult to find from roadside if it the first time in the big city. Room service knock on our room door at 8.30pm 3 times while wife and I were asleep on our first night after a long day with flights and so on. once we didn't answer the door because we thought the person knocked on the wrong door that he's unlocked and opened the door. Wife and I said hey and then person said room service and he's left.
- joseph (6/5): Disappointed with the lack service and access to the facilities. The menu at Harper roof top was an absolute debacle on - Location and cleanliness. The facilities were not available at all times eg the pool bar was closed on Sunday until 4pm. We were able to purchase drinks or food!
