Timothy (10/5): Night away - Just a one night away trip with a couple of days coastal walking. Very smart pub with rooms. In a superior room with high quality fixtures and fittings, very comfortable. Staff all very friendly with an excellent dinner menu and very good breakfast. Only minor issue was how quick dinner service was - would have preferred to have spent longer over our meal. Starter arrived very quickly and the main arrived before we had even finished our starter ! As I say however a minor issue in the overall scheme of things and we would certainly visit again

Steven (10/5): Everything was just superb - Not our first stay here - a returning visit, as the previous one was so good - luckily, we got the same room as before; beautifully decorated, extremely quiet and comfortable, the bathroom quite superb, and already looking for an excuse to go again. The food in the bar/restaurant is quite, quite delicious, and the staff have obviously been very well briefed on how to deal with customers. We cannot fault this property at all - wonderful.

Nicola (8/5): Nice hotel and location but poor service - This is a nice place but we experienced quite a few issues. The listing says it is dog friendly but when we arrived it turns out this only applies to their self contained accommodation. We got no apology despite them agreeing that the listing wasn’t accurate and we had to arrange for our dog to stay with family. The front door is locked when the pub is closed which is a bit annoying. The cleaning staff ignored the do not disturb sign on the door and let themselves in one morning. It all just seemed very disorganised and the staff weren’t very professional, especially at breakfast and check in. It’s a shame as the rooms are lovely, the bed is very comfortable, it’s clean and is otherwise a great place to stay.

Alan (10/5): - Lovely quiet hotel in a small quiet village on the outskirts of Scarborough. Rooms were spotless, comfy beds, extra pillows already in room, fantastic shower (best we've had in a hotel), molten brown toiletries. Only down side was the noise from the extractor fan as we were in the back of the hotel. When mentioned staff were very apologetic as it hadnt been switched off at 9 as it should have been. Only gave 4/5 for amenities as there was only limited choice for gluten free evening meal, food otherwise was delicious. Would definitely recommend

We have stayed with five star stays before, so this wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last. However the first staff member I spoke to on arrival at the Plough to collect the keys was nothing other than miserable!! Granted we did arrive 30 minutes early, but he was so dismissive of us. I don’t know whether I disturbed his precious time but he was most unpleasant. Took the shine off the stay. He avoided me when I did go back at the correct time, clearly unhappy in life and working in the incorrect industry of customer service.

Jonathan (10/5): - We would recommend this property to anyone. The rooms are finished to a very high standard, The food quality is excellent and the staff are very friendly. There was some confusion on other people’s food orders but they handled it promptly at dinner time. It is worth noting that breakfast has to be preordered by 9pm for the next day which we felt should be reviewed as we forgot and it meant we couldn’t have breakfast in the morning and the menu wasn’t any different to a normal breakfast menu. Don’t let this put you off the plough it’s a great place and we will return
Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely room. Check food serving times though! - The room was absolutely lovely. Comfortable bed, lovely shower and toiletries, dressing gown available. They have drinks and snacks in the room for you to purchase if you wish. It really is a lovely spot. There isn't a car park but parking in the village was adequate, especially after the pub had cleared out. The only negative we had was that we had planned to have dinner in the pub, and information in the room indicated food was available until 8pm. However, staff told us when we went down at about 6.30pm that the kitchen shut at 6pm, so we had to head out again to get some dinner. We didn't have breakfast the next day so I can't comment on how the food is.

M (8/5): 5 night family stay - The first thing to mention is that this property is on 3 floors. There are 30 very steep, very narrow, stairs between the ground floor and the top bedroom. Although it does indeed sleep 6 people, having 3 double beds, the bed in the attic room is half under the eaves of the roof and you must bend double to get in and risk knocking yourself out to get there. None of the upstairs windows open. We tried every window on the upper 2 floors and were unable to budge one. The larger of the 2 bedrooms on the second floor is directly joined onto the house next door which we believe is someone’s permanent residence - it has the worst soundproofing of any property we have stayed in and we were woken up every day around 6am. This is not the fault of the neighbours going about their daily lives, it’s that the walls are genuinely that thin. The on street parking is terrible and a scramble for parking spaces that don’t mean you have to climb a bank of mud to get out of your car. The house itself, although getting a little tired in places, was very clean and touches like the under floor heating were great. Tea and coffee were provided (a total of 6 teabags and 6 coffee pods for 4 people for a 6 day stay) and the welcome pack was a nice touch even if it was missing a couple of items. The pub is incredibly busy on a Friday and Saturday - we couldn’t even get in the bar for a drink on Saturday but I know they take bookings for food so if you were wanting to eat there we would advise you to book.

Adam (10/5): Beautiful pub, great food and lovely staff! - We stayed here while visiting Scarborough open air theatre. We got the wrong night and ended up having to book an extra night. The staff were so helpful and really went the extra mile to help us. We also took advantage of the shuttle bus which was a great choice. The rooms were beautiful, our first room was larger but both rooms were perfectly functional, beautiful decor, clean and welcoming. We stayed for dinner both nights and the food was delicious, we would definitely return, I wouldn’t consider booking anywhere else if we visited Scarborough again.

The room was lovely and furnished with those extra finishing touches that made it extra special. Deborah (10/5): Fantastic village location/weekend stay - Fantastic two night stay at The Plough this weekend. We have family in the area and booked this hotel based on a previous experience of dining here. We were not disappointed. The room (a deluxe king) was spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The bed was big and comfortable with pillows that felt like sleeping on clouds. We didn’t use the mini bar but took full advantage of the Nespresso machine and complimentary water. On the first night we enjoyed amazing food from the specials board in the dining area along with a great selection of wines & beers. Although the hotel doesn’t have a car park there was ample parking close by on the road and in this beautiful village location it is safe to leave your car. The hotel fully lived up to expectations and we will definitely be back to stay.

Stephen (10/5): Happy Anniversary - We had a night away to celebrate our wedding anniversary with friends. The hotel was everything we hoped it would be. Set in a beautiful little village, tastefully decorated, the staff were thoughtful, knowledgeable and friendly and the food was absolutely first class. This has become a firm favourite after just one stay!

Paul (4/5): Shame - We stayed in Sunbeam Cottage for the second time. First night all was well. The second night, the people staying in the accommodation next door, also owned by The Plough had a party which started at about 2am and finished at about 4:30. Their lounge was right next door to our bedroom which meant we were then awake for 2.5 hours. Despite a complaint made to the Plough the next day, with a promise the manager would call, sadly no response from them. Such a shame it spoilt our stay that the manager didn't bother to contact us. Our previous stay had been faultless. With a spend of approx £800 over the 3 night stay on visit 1 and 2, we expected better.

There’s also another pub and tea rooms close by so all needs catered for! Only stayed one night but it would excellent for a break/holiday. Transport straight in to Scarborough. Highly recommended.

Leigh Ann (10/5): - I didn’t plan on spending the night at Scarborough, but I lucked out on this gem. The room was cozy, clean, and charming. The breakfast was delightful. I can honestly say this was the best hotel I stayed in during my trip to the UK, and I hope to someday return.
Julie (10/5): Really enjoyed - Really fabulous location, great room with lovely touches, great shower, tv, wifi and lovely bar and meal. Breakfast was good for me but a little stingy for my daughter who didnt like everything on the menu but they could have spared an extra sausage! Pastries not covered over was an issue but these are small points. Overall very impressed and would love to go back as 10 mins from Scarborough.

The rooms are all excellent having stayed in most of them. Also the food is on another level with a great atmosphere in the bar. Thoroughly recommend The Plough.
nadia (10/5): Stunning interior! - Spotless, high quality and stunning! Attention to detail was fabulous. Molten Brown toiletries, mini bar, fridge, safe, huge tv and a comfy bed. It was a warm night but there is a Dyson fan in the room. Attentive and friendly staff too. I stayed in room 8… it had a roll top stand alone bath in the bedroom… beautiful!
Darcy (10/5): - The Plough Scalby was such a great place. The rooms have all been updated and the showers were amazing, beds so comfortable. We had two rooms, one for my daughter and one for my husband. We all loved this Inn. We ate dinner in the restaurant (best fish & chips we had while in England) and the breakfast was delicious. Service was great all around.

Claire (10/5): Excellent weekend break - amazing staff and hotel - Amazing hotel, booked last minute and not at all disappointed. All the staff we came into contact with were excellent, friendly and happy to help from checking in, breakfast and evening meal service and checking out - couldn't do enough for us. The cooked 'Yorkshire' breakfast was great quality and cooked to order with plenty of selection available. The evening meal on night 1 was excellent for both myself and wife resulting in us doing something we rarely do and eat in again the second night (usually prefer to try alternative restaurants etc). The second nights evening meals were even better (Beef and red wine pie & fish pie - both excellent). Location is great - a few mile outside of Scarborough - walkable within an hour or so following the coastal cliff path. Hotel itself was clean and cosy, very popular with what I guess are the locals as both evenings were busy in the pub area and although we were staying we struggled to get a table to eat - but again the staff sorted us out with great seating at a reasonable time - would suggest pre-booking a table for evening meal as early as possible - well worth it. The room we had had everything we needed and the shower was amazing. Bed was really really comfortable. Only very very minor point is the pillows - but that's personal preference anyway. Very very pleased with last minute booking and hopefully a return visit next year - already recommended to family / friends.
Liz (10/5): - Very comfortable - room has everything you would expect. Great soundproofing because our room was directly above the pub which was pretty full when we went to bed and you could hear nothing in the room. Food was great.
