Guest Reviews
- Fiona (6/5): - Perfect for someone walking the Thames Path as it's right on the trail, although a bit of a walk out of Walton on Thames so would pay to stock up on any supplies before you set off for The Weir Breakfast offering was a little underwhelming, not much in the way of fruit with the continental option
- gillian (7/5): Very friendly helpful staff and a very nice outlook over the Thames - Breakfast was adequate It’s a 3 star hotel so all was fine
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Bethan (10/5): Very dog friendly, with a lovely breakfast, for a good price, in a nice location! - Very dog friendly, very welcoming of our three dogs. We’ve stayed a few times now. The dog fee is very reasonable. And a delicious breakfast is included. Situated very conveniently for when we travel into central London, but the hotel itself is located in a beautiful location.
- Rosalind (9/5): -
- NICOLA (7/5): Convenient and pleasant - Great breakfast
Nice spot by Thames- good walking and recreation Bath shower dated and ineffective
- Peter (7/5): -
- Peter (9/5): - Breakfast and friendly service Smell of old cooking oil
- Fiona (9/5): -
- headon (9/5): -
- Debs (7/5): -
- Gabriele (7/5): Tolle Lage - Tolle Lage Das Frühstück war bescheiden ,ich habe schon besser in England gefrühstückt
Die Zimmer sehr einfach eingerichtet, die Badezimmer benötigen eine Renovierung
- James (1/5): Avoid, if you want sleep. - Location only as it’s not a place anyone wants to stay if they require sleep. We were woken at 3am by someone banging and clattering doors and electronic keypad sounds. When we complained to receptionist he said we were the only 2 occupants so it must have been the manager. Absolutely nightmare… definitely not recommended.
- James (1/5): Insomniacs will be ok here - The location is fabulous Not a great place for anyone who wishes to sleep
- Nick (7/5): Great place and surroundings - could do with an in character revamp - Location and each room with a balcony. Ourt of the way and a lovely setting. Place seems a little bit run down - could do with a revamp - but not like a modernisation - more to enhance its charm
- Jackie (6/5): It did the job - The area was pleasant, along the Thames.Food was nice. Could be a beautiful location given some tlc and injection of money. The property is very dated and could do with a refurbishment.Shower very poor and room wasn’t very clean, someone’s personal hair alongside the bath panel, bathroom and bedroom needed a good clean. Bed was comfortable, as was the pillows.Coffee and Tea making facilities good. Nice clean towels.view outside looking onto a skip and rubbish,
- Lynn (9/5): Lovely river stay - It's a lovely river-side spot, and my room over the outdoor table had a good view of the boats and the sunny drinkers and diners. Nice breakfast and staff! Nearish to 2 other riverside pubs if you like a river walk. Tiny points - without a car, it's a bit tough unless you bike in. And given it's a popular spot, there will be beer garden noise to a certain point in the evening if it's a nice day!
- Kathy (8/5): My room was clean and had pleasant decor. We were very happy with the food we had there in the evening and the breakfast - Pretty location next to the river. The exterior does not it justice.
- Lindsey (8/5): -
- Christine (8/5): - comfortable bed lovely view of river, spacious beer garden quality of breakfast . could use better meat products
- David (7/5): -
- David (3/5): Disappointed, won’t be back. - Beautiful location, very peaceful & nice views , right next to river. Furnishing in rooms are very dated, chairs with stuffing popping out, ultra small tv that only worked intermittently.
Very overpriced for what is offered.
Show pillows on bed looked like something had been gnawing them/frayed.
Also found drinks outrageously expensive.
- Jackie (9/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): -
- Jason (10/5): Perfect getaway - Fantastic staff and location How caring the staff are
- Christine (9/5): -
- Beatrice (10/5): -
- Davide (9/5): -
- Gavin (10/5): -
- Vicki Stockford (9/5): - The telly didn't work that well.no reception
- Phillip (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Location was just ight for us on this occasion - great location, Lovely food and very nice breakfast. Needed some tlc, Shower screen had a very sharp corner/edge. Plumbing needs to be serviced as very slow drainage almost blocked.
- Chris (7/5): -
- Tong (10/5): - Everything, was a wonderful stay.
- Susan (10/5): Lovely calm stay with a great full English breakfast - The location
- Claire (8/5): A very comfortable sleep, followed by a great breakfast. - Fantastic views with lovely walks. We really enjoyed watching the fun people were having alongside and on the river. No dairy free butter for my toast. Such a small and insignificant moan. If this had been available though, we would have given the hotel a 10.
- Myburgh (8/5): - Staff were all friendly and helpful , very clean hotel , nice views from the balcony. Very poor tv reception..luckily I brought my ipad with me .
- Gary (7/5): Perfect for a night stay. - Very nice pub and room are alright but could do with a update.would get more people in if sports was show in bar. No Sky so no sports.
- Julie (5/5): Could be better! - The location was good for what we needed. The pub was very dark inside and looked tired. The room, we booked the deluxe room, was small, only had one broken chair and looked tired, shabby furniture and carpet. However the bed was comfy. The food was good and the staff were friendly. Although there was no hotel uniform ie sweat shirts, joggers were worn, very long hair should be tied up and netted when dealing with food/prep!!
- Charlie (9/5): Relaxing stay with family - This is my second time with Weir Hotel. It’s always comfortable and cosy. The river view from the guest room is excellent. I’ll repeat booking for vacation.
- Zachary (8/5): Comfortable - Friendly welcoming staff and a good breakfast, would definitely stay again. It's a little bit tired but didn't matter at all.
- Sue (8/5): Very good value for money, ideal for what we wanted after a day at Kempton races - Staff were very friendly, location lovely and would be even better in the summer, breakfast was exceptional Could do with a decoration refresh
- Tracey (10/5): We enjoyed a relaxed stay. The staff were really lovely. - Lovely location beside the river. Very relaxing. Comfortable and clean.
- warlow (9/5): - Lovely comfirtable four poster bed over looking river. There was electric mattress topper but we didnt use it as it was so hot with the radiator on but a fan was provided and the windows opened wide. All the staff were very nice. Room had everything needed. We would definately stay here again. Also found out it is dog-friendly. Room Too hot. Radiator didnt have thermostat so could not turn itt off, Shower wasnt great but served a purpose.
- Julie (10/5): Great location for me, comfortable and clean hotel. - Great location , clean and helpful staff , lovely breakfast Nothing
- David (8/5): Lovely pub / hotel, would stay again - Location, friendly staff and food was great Not the hotels fault, but rooms were noisy because it's an oldish building. From our room we could hear the music / talking from the pub below, but that wouldn't stop us staying again, it's just want you expect from a hotel / bar room
- Darryl (10/5): - Staff very friendly and lovely food It’s a little bit tired and could do with a refresh
- Thomas (3/5): -
- Lynette (10/5): Ideal accommodation - The location of The Weir. The weather
- David (9/5): Great location, would stay again. - Friendly staff, good meals (breakfast and dinner). Rooms serviced daily. Value for money.
- Roy (7/5): Happy to make a return visit - Location perfect, large room and quiet/peaceful throughout the night
Breakfast included in the price The shower, - temperature was awkward to set, needing to balance hot and cold taps to reach optimum
Hand rail on wall would have been helpful - both of us 75+ and shower over the bath really only effective if hand held
- Laurent (7/5): appréciable mais à éviter en période chaude - Lit confortables, pub sympa climatisation en période chaude manquante !
- Mark (9/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable. The meals we had excellent as was breakfast - Warm welcome and great location A little dated but still charming despite that
- Susan (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful spot. - Breakfast and evening meals were really good Staff were very helpful. Hot water in the bedroom.
- Tom (9/5): Comfortable riverside pub - Great location, staff were great and breakfast was excellent. Great value, nice clean room. N/A
- John (10/5): Ideal - Breakfast was good and location was ideal for walking the Thames Path Nothing
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Breakfast and location excellent. Beautiful views.
- Chris (10/5): -
- Simon (10/5): - Brilliant location,by the river,friendly staff,good hearty breakfast. Nothing
- David (8/5): Outstanding service from young and friendly staff. - Ideal location since I was walking the Thames Path. Very warm welcome and fantastic food in restaurant. Lovely room with view over weir. Hotel is feeling a little tired but I am sure proprietors know that and will no doubt have long term plans to refurbish in due course.
- David (10/5): Very relaxing - Very relaxing and comfy with very helpful staff.
Even though it was December the room was lovely and warm with a good hearty full English breakfast in the morning.
It's not our first time staying here and it definitely won't be the last.
- Robin (7/5): -
- Steve (8/5): Great location and friendly staff - Location, staff and food TV signal was poor. But didn't really bother us as we didn't spend much time in the room
- Elyned (4/5): rooms updated but pub part needs complete refurbishment staff very welcoming - food tasty and well cooked hotel exterior and pub part very tired
- Henrik (5/5): Squeaky night - I got breakfast. And the hotel was jus where I wanted to go this time... A long walk from the railwaystation. The bed was squeaky, I was afraid it would fall together and the matress didn't seem to fit the bed. And the shower was terrible, just som drizzle. Disappointing.
- Hastings (10/5): Very comfortable and a friendly lovely staff and would definitely visit again - Breakfast was good even gave Charlie our lovely dog a sausage thank you 😃 There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
Staff were amazing
- Richards (3/5): -
- Mick (8/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Fantastic staff, great building. Fabulous location. Value for money. Highly recommend. - Food was amazing all fresh and homecooked. Staff was so accommodating and very friendly so helpful and professional. The staff really made our stay at the Wier special. Room was fine and clean although may need updating a bit and beds a tad uncomfortable but good for the price. I loved the actual property and fantastic location. Would definitely visit again x thank you for our stay. Rooms need a bit of tlc but apart from that the place was lovely.
- Mary (9/5): -
- jm king (6/5): Needs TLC - The location and the staff.
Decent breakfast. The pub & hotel needs a lot of TLC. It looks very tired and/or worn out.
- Michael (8/5): - Quaint and a beautiful setting. Great food, friendly, helpful and attentive staff, clean as a whistle and very quiet. A bit chilly in the room some hours but considering the time of year…..Nov. heaters and blankets galore.
- Laura (10/5): Would very much recommend - Very cozy and welcoming.
We ordered the lasagna and the ribs and they were really lovely !
The breakfast was also super.
The beds were SO comfortable and the rooms really nice and clean.
Staff great too.
We had a fabulous stay and would stay again. Everything was perfect.
- Steve (10/5): -
- Nicholas (7/5): -
- Laura (7/5): -
- Michael (6/5): Odd - Nice breakfast bit of a wait on morning 3 as only one person is coffee, tea, unloading barrels, cooking breakfast, filling cellar and making toast biscuits in room, water in room, clean room Odd student feel about the staff laid back n lazy, very dirty carpet through out dogs seem more at home than the customers laying all over the bonnketts, seems a two tier price system for locals and visitors, maybe offer guests the same price then we would stay and drink in the pub attached to the hotel.
- Angela (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff Stairs going up to room
- dave (8/5): - Good location, characterful building. Great breakfast!
- Jason (9/5): Nice place to be - Location was peaceful, nice walk by river, breakfast was great. No shops nearby, hotel don’t store a few basic items like toothpaste
- Tracy (5/5): Disappointing stay - Very helpful and friendly staff. We were greeted with a smile on what was a very busy day, shown to our room, and assisted with cases.
Clean linen & towels. Tea/coffee/water topped up each day.
Good breakfast
Lovely location The interior is in need of refurbishment. Tired furniture & odour from the carpets. Carpets in the bar area ( and on the staircase to the room) need cleaning or replacing. Lacking in maintenance externally and internally.
We had a socket in the room that had a bright flashing blue light, which was particularly bothersome during the night.
It's a real shame as this place could and should be so much more.
- Tony (9/5): Around just below ideal - Average facilities. Good value Need a bit of modernisation
- Catherine (10/5): Great place to stay for a few days. - The location, our room had a balcony. The food was reasonably priced. It was quiet as it was November. Nothing
- Denise (4/5): Very disappointed and out of pocket. - Breakfast was substantial. In your Booking.com precise about the premises it made reference that the Weir Hotel was 1.1 mile away from Kempton Park Racecourse the very reason why we booked it. It transpired that it was 5.5 mile taxi journey which cost us £20 each way. We hadn't budgeted for this expense. Your description infringes on Trade Description Act and I feel you should compensate us for this expense.
- Gavin (1/5): - Very tatty poor food 😢 expensive drinks don't deserve the rating booking. Com give it Everything if we hadn't paid in advance would have walked away
- Josefina (9/5): -
- Steven (10/5): Great value for money in unique location - very friendly staff - Great location on the river - super handy for popping into Hampton Court Nothing - all good
- Sharon (7/5): Very clean and comfortable room overlooking the river. The staff were busy but friendly. The bathroom was a bit tired bu - The location on the river in Walton-on-Thames was lovely and the breakfasts were very good. As it’s a pub and we were at the front it was quite noisy until 11pm, especially when an argument broke out on the one night. Lots of shouting and swearing. There was the ever-pervasive smell of fried food in the corridors.
- Katrina (8/5): - Lovely location. Great food. Relaxed atmosphere.
- A (7/5): Ok for a couple of nights - Good location plenty of parking, good for river walks. Staff were friendly and helpful .
Food was traditional pub grub well priced and tasty. Good beers In desperate need of maintenance and redecoration. Some rooms recently decorated but the one I had on the first night was pretty rough
- Phill (8/5): -
- Samantha (7/5): -
- stephen (9/5): -
- Cornelius (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely traditional pub accommodation in a peaceful location overlooking the River Thames. Nothing.
- Robert (8/5): Great place on the river for good food and service. - Great location and staff went the extra mile. Couldn’t get in for breakfast on the Sunday as a staff member did not turn up. However another member of staff who was on leave eventually opened up.
- Jasmine (7/5): -
- Karin (6/5): What a shame this place is poorly kept - Location is good - Constant music playing and is easily heard in our room all afternoon till late evening
- Upkeep of the facility is poor
- Is not value for money / we would never stay here again and felt disappointed by how the place is kept and staff seem disinterested.
