• Servesh (8/5): Sunrise palace hotel recommended - This place is located is little far from beach park but everything is accessible by uber & pickme app. Place is very quite, peaceful & environment friendly. Hotel area as well as rooms are spacious.i like the place. They serve continental breakfast which is just point for me because i am pure veg but food quality is good & hygienic.there are many restaurant nearby for veg as well as for non veg individuals.I got veg Indian food Nearby . Overall i will recommend this place to everyone

• Virginia (8/5): very good - Lovely people who were very helpful! Good clean basic accommodation and breakfast. They are next to a small river so make sure to bring mosquito spray. My prebooked taxi to the airport cancelled at the last minute and the hotel owner very kindly stepped in and took me to the airport himself.

• Abby (8/5): Great for one night - This hotel is beautiful, large room but very basic and about 20 minutes from the airport. I needed it for a 1 night, so it was fine. Omelette and toast and fresh fruit for breakfast were great. However my reservation indicated 30% off of dinner. When I asked about it, I was told that I could order in... Don't expect bells and whistles, just a small bar of soap on the sink. I had a desk with no chair. I had to pay cash for the airport transfer (no credit cards accepted), but the front desk person did not have cash so I ended up paying more without getting correct change...

The only thing - we were unlucky to hear a loud music from the outside till 2.a.m. Don't know if it was a night club near by. We spend one night on our way to the airport. Great location. Near to the beach and only 30-40 minutes to the airport.
• Jeanette (6/5): A bit out of the way but a quiet location. - The pre arranged hotel pick up from the airport was missed by the hotel. I eventually hired a taxi that struggled to find it as it is out of the way. Although staff were pleasant, the staff member who greeted me could have provided more information regarding where to purchase food and/or eating places, attractions etc. An apology was made for the mix up by the manager.

• HYESUNG (10/5): 깔끔,온수 잘 나오고 와이파이 빠르고 오너 아저씨 친절하심. - 숙소에 대해 기대를 안하고 갔는데 기대 이상으로 깔끔하고 오너도 친절하고, 우려했던 모기도 방안에는 없어서 편안하게 하룻밤 묵고 다음 행선지로 이동했네요. 오너 아저씨가 사는 집 바로 옆 마당에 호텔 건물을 지어서 사시는 듯 했어요. 수압 괜찮고 온수 잘 나오는 편이지만 제가 배정 받았던 1층 방 화장실 세면대가 배수가 안되서 샤워부스에서 양치질해야 하는 불편함이 있긴 했지만 화장실이 전체적으로 깔끔해서 커버가 됐어요. 혹시 다음에 가게 된다면 다시 묵고 싶은 곳이예요. 오너 아저씨가 다음 행선지를 물으시고는 자기 차로 버스 터미널까지 드랍 해주겠다고 제안했는데 가격이 비싼것 같아 거절을 했는데 나중에 적정 가격이었음을 알고 후회 했어요. 생각보다 터미널이 멀리 위치해 있더라구요. 밤늦게 공항에 도착해서 택시를 타고 호텔까지 이동했는데 기사님은 호텔 주소만 가지고는 위치를 잘 모르더라구요. 전화번호를 꼭 기사님에게 보여 주고 호텔측과 직접 통화해서 위치를 파악하도록 하세요. 공항에서 호텔까지 삐끼가 10달러 부르길래 타고 갔는데 기사님이 25달러 달라고 협박. 그냥 쌩까고 10달러만 주고 내렸어요. 삐끼 무시하고 사람들 많이 줄서서 기다려서 타는 택시 잡아 타고 가세요.
• Yoke Li (8/5): Negombo for one nite (4 friends) - We arrived late at nite, and the owner was very obliging waiting for us. The rooms are clean & comfy. We had a good nite sleep. The wifi is real strong too:-)
• Dietrich (8/5): Convenient for airport, super helpful owner! - Owner was SUPER helpful, printing a bunch of documents for us, arranging ride to airport. They gave us lots of bottled water for no charge.
• Kamran (8/5): Near Negombo beach, close to airport - We stayed at Sunrise Palace for two reasons. We wanted to go to the beach strip and eat at a nice restaurant. We also wanted to stay near the airport because we had an early morning flight back home. The owners are very friendly and generous folks. They made us feel welcome and served us a superb breakfast. They also arranged a vehicle for our airport drop-off at 2 AM. Sunrise Palace is a nice, quiet and clean little hotel located in a residential area a couple of minutes walk from the main road. It looks new and the facilities are in excellent condition. There's a small but lovely garden outside which we also enjoyed from the balcony in our room. The room is quite large and is nicely lit. The bed is comfortable and we had a good sleep. I would like to point out to the owners that they should try to control the small ants that get into the rooms. I usually don't mind ants or even the odd spider or wall lizard in the room but these small ants were extremely aggressive. We made the mistake of leaving some fruit and sweets in plastic bags on the table and the ants were swarming into them when we woke up. Overall this is a very convenient and lovely place run by wonderful owners.
• Sandy (8/5): Friendly Staff and Owner - The hotel was further away from the airport. During mid day traffic might take about 25 minutes from the airport. Owner and staff are very helpful. Clean rooms except the toilet emits a stench. Not sure if that was only in my room.
• Jonathan (10/5): Stay here - Really nice wing of excellent rooms behind a residence. Garden. Quiet area. Nothing but small shops nearby, but not far from the main Negombo strip by rukruk. Extremly friendly and helpful owners.
• Mary (10/5): Friendly and comfortable at SUNRISE PALACE - we were met at the airport by the proprietor and driver, lovely room with excellent shower , evening meal available when we asked , delicious breakfast , we stayed for 3 nights and were made very welcome , proprietor very helpful with sightseeing arrangements -tuc tuc , we can recommend Sunrise Palace

The staff were fantastic, and the rooms were well equipped and very comfy! Location wasn't close to the beach, but it was very peaceful, and closer to the airport.

• Georgiana (2/5): Awful - We book this hotel to be close to airport for our way back home. I couldnt sleep even a minute because of mosquitoes.i never saw so many in one room. No spray,nothing. Room is big,and everything inside is new. The towels were washed but look still dirty. The ac is exactly above the bed,and very strong. Imposible to use if you want to not be sick after a night there. The area is quiet during the day..but in the night is a temple around which is singing non stop.

Taxi driver needed to keep calling the owner to find his way there from the airport as the hotel is in a little lane a long way down so make sure your driver does same

• Jocelyn (10/5): A sweet little find away from the hustle n bustle - Cute place with very sweet staff. Very clean n neat n good aircon. Comfy bed n modern bathroom. Great price. Took just over 15mins by cab from airport. Would definitely recommend for a long or late flight into CMB if u don't want to travel all the way to the city when you arrive. Didn't explore the area so I don't really know but it didn't seem close to shops, town etc. - definitely great for chilling out before the onslaught of Colombo traffic tho!

• Verified traveler (10/5): More than 4 stars to me - It took us a while to find the hotel. But everything here surprised me. Huge room, lake view, friendly staff. I woke up with birds' tweet in the morning. It was a fantastic experience during my trip. I would like to introduce this hotel to my friends.
• zoe & gwyn (10/5): Very clean, handy location for the airport - We arrived about 10:30 and were met by 3 very friendly staff. We had to leave around 5:30am for a flight so it was just a quick stop over. The staff were very helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport the next day and made us feel very welcome. The room was basic but very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Low price room and we were sceptical but both the owner himself and the room was much better than our stay in another hotel further up on our travels. Anyone coming into Sri Lanka should stay here. Taxis/Tuk Tuks may find it slightly hard to find but ask them to call the hotel and they will direct no problem. Really good place to stay.
• Monique (10/5): Lovely hotel by the airport - We could not have been happier with our choice. With our flight arriving at 4.35am we needed a place close to the airport. Two quick emails with the hotel got us an air conditioned car collection from the airport which was a 15/20 drive away at $20. We arrived and slept in comfortable clean air conditioned room for 10hrs. Town is a $2 tuktuk away for dinner and a walk around. English plug sockets and good wifi.
• Carolyn (10/5): Lovely stay over - Only stayed one night after a late flight arrival. Very close to the airport. Superbly friendly owner. Room was large, clean and comfortable, with a private balcony. Breakfast was huge and very tasty.

• fmcp (10/5): The place to stay on arrival or departure - Huge, clean rooms and bathrooms and a breakfast to die for. Saminda and the boys Ashvarg and Panar, (hope I've spelt their names correctly) can't do enough for you. Their hospitality is exceptional, everything we needed or asked for was given with a huge smile. We asked if they knew where we could hire some bicycles, Saminda went out and bought one for my husband, while I borrowed his wife's . Now that's service. By the way, definitely hire the bikes from them, it's a great and easy way to see the sites of Negombo. We would like to say a huge thank you to Sandamale, you are an amazing cook, and your hoppers, Dahl, sambal and curries at breakfast time were fantastic and totally set us up for the day. We know we will see you again, as your lovely guest house is the only place we will stay when its time to leave. So happy to appreciate and receive your hospitality on two occasions Thank you
• Alastair (8/5): Convenient for airport. - This is a nice and quiet place. Rooms are good with a balcony. Tuk tuk can take you to anywhere but nothing in the immediate are. Marred slightly by room not being clean and smelly toilet. Breakfast very good and staff very friendly and helpful
• Le (10/5): Great haven to rest your head - I booked a one night stay at this boutique hotel upon arrival in Sri Lanka at this place and was so glad I did! Although we arrived quite late, the family was great at quickly ushering us into our room for the night. Our room was on the first floor and was extremely spacious with a large king bed, a sizable bathroom, and terrace that overlooked the garden. The hotel is located within a gated wall and is extremely safe. When we woke up, the family did a wonderful job of providing a full breakfast spread of eggs, juice, multiple breads, and delicious fruit. We really enjoyed our stay and meeting the family that owns the hotel! Our only regret was that we were only there for one night as it was such a wonderful way to start or end a vacation in Sri Lanka!
• AEK (10/5): Very nice small hotel close to the airport - We stayed here on two occasions, both after arrival and before departure from Sri Lanka. The room was very clean with excellent wifi and air conditioning. It was an easy 15 minute taxi ride from the airport and they were very accommodating with our surprise late check in due to a flight delay. Highly recommend this hotel.
• Barb (8/5): New, tastefully decorated hotel - This beautiful quaint hotel is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood. Rooms are spacious. The clean, white floor tiles and dark wood doors and windows give a tranquil Asian effect. Bathroom fixtures and rain shower head add a special touch. Meals are served outside on the patio (unless you ask for room service) as there is no restaurant, only a kitchen in the manager's house.
• William (10/5): Great place to stay - The Sunrise palace is only 25 minutes from the airport Taxi will cost 1450 rupees about £7.50. Rooms are big air con great WiFi good grounds immaculate. The breakfast was great tea toast eggs fruit and yogurt and more if you want it. We booked it prior to arrival in Sri Lanka and it was so good we booked it for our last night prior to flying home. Negombo beach is 8 minutes bu tuk tuk cost about 300 rupees from location using the owners contacts. the owner and staff go out of there way to help and are very friendly.
• Faye (8/5): Great place for one night stay - Our flight leaves at 7 the next morning, so we stayed in this place in Negombo. Only 20 mins away from the airport. The room is basic but thumbs up to the owner. He is the most responsive and efficient person we've encountered during our ten-day stay in Sri Lanka.
• Angel (10/5): Favorite guesthouse in Sri Lanka - Anyone flying into Sri Lanka will need to use the airport at Negombo, which is an hour away from the capital of Colombo and is the start for most tourists' visit to this country. Sunrise Palace is a brand new guesthouse in a quiet residential neighborhood of Negombo designed for comfort for guests and their drivers. Rooms are spacious, include a small bedroom area en-suite for a driver, balcony with chairs to relax in shade and are laid out to minimize noise from adjacent rooms. Design wise, this was by far the best guesthouse I stayed in for the week I was in the country and very reasonably priced. The manager and staff are friendly, proficient in English and super accommodating to ensure you enjoy your stay with them. They can arrange tuktuks to the airport for any time of day and were very helpful when I ran out of rupees and needed to exchange some more local money as tourists services in this town are quite minimal. The guesthouse can be a little hard to find, but have your drive call them and they will gladly give directions. The guesthouse is a 5 minute walk to a main road that has a number of local and Muslim restaurants and a beer store, as well as a 20 minute walk to the beach hotel area which has the most available for tourists such as bar/restaurants if you want something more foreign friendly. Overall an excellent choice for your arrival and departure stay in Sri Lanka.

• Thomas (10/5): A great little hotel. - We enjoyed our stay at Sunrise Palace, the owners and staff were all very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was brillant, you need to wake up hungry.
• Rajeev (8/5): Very basic - We stayed at Sunrise for the last two days of our trip to SL, because we wanted to be near the airport. (It's still 12km away, but this is the only one we found to be decent in that radius) Advantages: Clean, spacious rooms with AC Accessible from airport Good breakfast Disadvantages: Understaffed, hence not that efficient The bathroom smells terribly-something wrong with the drains-not unclean, but it smells No chairs/seating in the room-just a bed, desk and cupboard-nowhere to keep your suitcases on Unorganized dining area-outdoors, in front of the owner's house-yes he lives next door- with a lot of flies Located in a residential area-a good tuktuk ride away from the restaurants and other lively spots, bus stand, etc. (you will need to eat out as they don't provide lunch/dinner) Overall, a decent place if you just need to crash for a bit. Economical, and the staff arranges tuk tuks and cabs for you.
