- Morten (5/5): A mixed bag, but any stay in the Galapagos is outstanding - Incredible location The bed is simply too uncomfortable to sleep
Not good value compared to other places
- Leonidas (7/5): -
- Mark (8/5): The hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful - I loved the location
- STAHL (6/5): Room for improvement - Location Not so clean. Room had not been entirely swept, they don't take out the trash daily, breakfast was ok and they seem to be understaffed at times.
- Peyton (6/5): Perfect location - Location can't be beat.
Otherwise it's cheap and no frills accommodations. Everything you need, perfectly pleasant. Just very basic accommodations. If that's what your looking for is perfect.
- Tatiana (8/5): -
- Max (10/5): Beautiful location, people and nature. - Amazing location on the harbour front, spacious room, lovely breakfast and helpful friendly staff especially Melanie on reception.
- Omilson (8/5): Gostei. Estavamos de frente ao mar. Café da manhã com belo visual. - Razoável o café da manhã. A localização é exelente. Hotel é simples. Ocafé da manha~.
- Denisse Nicole (2/5): -
- Carla (7/5): -
- Mors (8/5): - La ubicación
- Matthias (9/5): - Directly at the port with a great seaview and in the quiet area of the esplanade (so no taxis in front of the window). And also a very nice place to have breakfast. Lovely place to stay!

- Vesna (10/5): - The reception was friendly and all staff very helpful. Great location!
- Edmond (10/5): -
- Olson (9/5): Excellent 😊 -
- yariv yacov (8/5): -
- Maria Alejandra (10/5): Lindo viaje! - El personal muy amable!
- Athies (7/5): It’s a hotel - Breakfast is provided and served by the cafe next door. It is a combination of continental and cooked food. No problems with the quantity or quality but there’s no choice so you get what you’re given. The hotel is right on the harbour front, our room directly overlooked the sea and boats. No fault of the hotel but the sea lions in the harbour can be noisy but fortunately they do sleep similar hours to ourselves. Apart from reasonable sized rooms the hotel does not really offer any other facilities.
- Location ist sehr gut; alles, was man braucht, sehr bequemes Bett, einfach aber stylisch eingerichtet.
- Joseph (10/5): I would stay there again. - Ocean view
Good breakfast
Nice staff
- Veerle (8/5): -
- Lora (8/5): Great stay, just pay cash when you arrive - In-person, everything was amazing! There was this little old lady who didn't speak a lick of English, but I we got by with my basic spanish and she was so so sweet. She was accommodating and she was complimentary and she gave us advice on how to be safe in Guayaquil. The hotel and breakfast were great.
The only negative was that before our trip, Zayapa reached out and they tried to get me to pay on a sketchy app beforehand (we ended up just paying in cash in person) but it was stressful beforehand.
- amalia (10/5): -
- Nancy (7/5): Comfortable hotel in the best location. - The location!!! The breakfast included. The size of the room. Difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower and there were some very tiny ants in the room. We asked for a box breakfast and it was not ready for us early the next morning. No information at the front desk about things to do, beaches, good walks, good restaurants, simple town map.
- Sandro (5/5): - - Super Lage
- Yuliya (4/5): Avoid - The only good thing about this hotel is its location- but it’s hardly an issue in San Cristobal, where even the airport is 15 minutes walking distance. I rarely write negative reviews but now felt compelled to do so. Here are the reasons:
1) showers: the water oscillates between freezing and burning hot, and it’s impossible to fix it
2) box breakfast: breakfast starts at 7 (while all tours leave before that), so they made a box for us. The box was a ridiculous- there was a sandwich which was left overnight on the counter and by the morning was unsafe to eat. Not to mention, no one asked about dietary restrictions etc. What a joke.
3) We left our bags and there was no one in the morning to help make sure they are securely hidden away. I kept calling the number but no one picked up or answered my messages, so we were worried through the day. And the funniest part happened upon return when the staff said we had to pay 5 dollars for the storage. When I refused, her reply was “really? It’s just 5 dollars”.
4) the rooms are extremely basic
All of this would have been acceptable if the hotel cost 1/2 of its current price, but with 170 usd per night - this is just ridiculous.
- Flavio (2/5): Price to high for low quality room and services - Good location The reception works few hours and the number available to call nobody answer. So, imagine having no hot water and nobody to call. Imagine the breakfast you agreed is not available. That was the experience. At the end they gave us back the amount we spent with the breakfast. But price is to high for low quality room and Services.
- margarita (4/5): - The staff was terrible, when we came back after dinner around 8 pm, we couldnt get inside the hotel, it was a code that it has not been delivered to us at the check in. luckily we called a phone posted outside and they could help us.
- Sarah (8/5): Fantastic location - Staff are awesome and the location can't be beat. The shower was a little tricky.
- Dennie (10/5): great hotel - Location was great, and the room size was good with an excellent view.
The breakfast was also very reasonable N.A>
- Ellisia (5/5): Scammed - Location The staff & the rooms but also the equipment, looked like a hostel. It’s the price of a hotel for a hostel type for me. They tried to scammed us for the prices
- Dana (1/5): We left and stayed next door and will be fighting for a refund! - Location is great but we did not stay due to the room was awful My husband was in contact with the manager directly as well as through booking.com. We asked for a room with a view and kept telling them that was what we were looking for so he said yes it’s fine. We got there and they blamed booking.com for the lack of knowing but my husband had spoken to them directly. The room overlooked a tin roof and was small. He went next door to Marconia Hotel and they were able to give us a room overlooking their cute pool and jacuzzi area. Everyone there was exceptional whereas they were not helpful at all at La Zayapa.
- Daphné (2/5): Not worth the price - The location is excellent, right in the center of everything. The staff was so so , no skills to resolve problems such as non stop ants or terrible shower (either boiling hot or freezing).
The view above some shade roof was definitely not what I expected and the breakfast very so so as well.
- ANGELO (4/5): - The only reason this hotel is recommendable is the location. Otherwise, the hospitality and customer service is horrible. We arrived and there were ants on the wall over the bed and on the sheets. We were given a can of ant spray and told to spray and leave the room. There was no hot water unless we asked them to turn on the water heater and only after going down stairs twice to ask. I asked them for 2 extra towels and they wanted to charge me $50 for them. I am not sure how other hotels are in the area but the only reason to put up with the poor service is being able to look out the window at the water and wake up to the sea lions barking. Book with caution.
- Jason (7/5): Good -
- Jennifer (8/5): - This hotel is across the street from the marina this is where you will meet snorkel and dive tours. It is close to all of the restaurants and shopping
- Nicholas E (6/5): - Great location and breakfasts. It was very hard to regulate temperature in our shower and the soap dispensers continually dripped. But on the plus side the ac worked very well.
- Mahsa (8/5): Very good - The reception was so friendly
The breakfast was good
- Mathew (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): Lovely stay - Friendly staff. Welcoming. Good breakfast.
- C. (10/5): Excellent choice for location, service, breakfast, and access to SUPGalapagos excursions. - Working with Eric and Mercedes make this exceptionally great. The location, extraordinary breakfast with outstanding service from the young woman and young man really made an impression. Having SUP next door was ideal for planning excursions. Eric's attention to detail on Whats App communication was excellent. There were so many good things I didnt mention and I cant think of one improvement.
- Maureen (8/5): Very good -
- Caro (8/5): Very good -
- Yuri (2/5): - Nothing good comes to mind after that horrible experience staying in La Zayapa place in San Cristobal.
Eric, called himself a manager, is so cheap..., in room he generously ofered tap water instead of bottles, provides the same, very suspicious, liquid soap or detergent as shampoo and body wash in very suspicious color. No extra towel is allowed, according his words, even they are overused and should be replaced long time before. And beside that, he charge us over $400 who knows what for, it's all in Spanish and we haven't used anything in this place, nothing was offered in the first place.
I strongly advice Expedia to verify the quality of hotels, they recommend, because paying for staying in a hotel as a 4 stars when It's not even a 1 star hostel is misleading advertising and is not fair to it's customers.
- Mr (1/5): Dreadful, and I should get a refund. - The location, and the view from our room, but they don’t tell you the rooms with the views (that cost more) are above a bar Everything, it was dirty, the bedding and towels were stained, yet they have the audacity to put signs in room about not staining the towels are not to be stained. Our room was overran with ants. The was basin only had a cold tap. While I wasn’t expect to the Ritz Carlton at €200 USD a night it wasn’t cheap. And they charged for everything including a late check fee.
- Charles (10/5): - This is a family-owned and run hotel that is next to their restaurant and tour business. We soon became family even though we did not speak each others' languages. It is next to the water and pier. We loved sitting out front and listening to the sea lions bark and watch the crabs scurrying about their business. The coveted blue-footed boobie visited each evening.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - This was by far my favorite of 4 bookings over 9 days on 3 islands in the Galapagos. Wonderful staff, comfortable accommodations, complete freshly prepared breakfast, incredible location, and knowledgeable tour/travel assistance. Exceptional value overall.
Highly recommended.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prasad (8/5): - Just the right place. Very convenient.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Decent size room in good location with good view of harbour A little bit noisy from people and sea lions outside and a bit inflexible for food and drink items outside set times
- Anusha (5/5): Passable - Great location in front of the pier and restaurants all around. Not clean. Sheets were dirty and bathrooms need renovation.
- Deirdre (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Isabella made us feel like family.
- Jo (2/5): Kitchen staff really rude - The girl behind the reception desk was super kind and friendly. The housekeeping were spot on with the room. The reason I would never stay at this hotel again was down to the kitchen staff. They were rude and kept laughing at me and sniggering one day I was refused breakfast when I was told I could sit down for a breakfast included in my stay an argument about it ensued with the kitchen staff and the lady who said I was ok to sit down. It made me feel really uncomfortable and I didn't bother. It ruined my stay having to walk past them sniggering at me for no reason.
- Tom (2/5): Very poor -
- Carlos (8/5): - The location was great, right in the middle of everything; the staff was friendly and the Wi-Fi was fast. The room was spacious and clean, but the electrical outlets were in inconvenient locations and the electric shower head was difficult to operate (it basically just served scalding-hot water)
- Maria (10/5): - The hotel is located very close to the airport. It is worth the extra money for a beautiful ocean view. You can see the seals playing in the water and hear them throughout the day. It is the perfect walking distance to everything you could need. There is a small cafe that also has everyday essentials (soap, sun screen, aloe vera, drinks, snacks, alcohol, etc). The hotel also offers breakfast, however if you have a tour scheduled you have the option for a box lunch. This is very convenient and comes with a juice, apple, and pack of cookies which you can place in your fridge over night. Additionally, the hotel is located right across the way from the area in which the tours meet. The air conditioner in the room is perfect, and the hotel also provides complementary drinking water both in your room and downstairs. It is an extremely safe area, where everyone is extremely friendly.
- Julian (7/5): Nice location, clean - Next to the sea front. They kindly made us packed lunch instead of breakfast if we had a tour early morning. Not cheap
- Rowan (3/5): Poor -
- Matthew (8/5): Great value and Amazing location. Very Happy with our stay at La Zayapa. - Everything was perfect, staff were very friendly, Checkin was easy, location was amazing, and great value for money. Unfortunately we could only book a rear/ garden view room. Not a water view room. And the view from the room was not great, and there was a slightly loud fan outside our window, downstairs, that was annoying when the window was open. Recommend a water view room if you can.
- Jenna (4/5): - The staff here was awful. Very unfriendly. No one even told me what time breakfast was or that the exterior door locked at a certain time in the evening. I was dealing with a family crisis at check in and they were completely unsympathetic and even attempted to take advantage of me. At first saying they could not accommodate a change in dates unless I upgraded room type and then, Lo and behold there was a room available of the same type when I said no thank you to the upgrade. The room was simple. Clean, but not comfortable. Awful view out my window and the window didn’t even fully close.
- David (8/5): Very good - The property was very nice. Located right on the waterfront. Breakfast was included and the staff was extremely nice. The beds are really small. The one that we had was supposed to be a queen but it felt and looked like a full. The room was small and the most expensive room we paid for in all 3 islands. The hotel was not sold out and we asked for an upgrade. We were told that it would be $50 extra for the empty room across the hall. Because the property was empty, I don’t understand why we couldn’t get the upgrade. Just didn’t like that very much.
- Tuba (9/5): Superb -
- Darcy (10/5): - Perfect location close to pier. Room was comfortable with good ac and WiFi. Staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
- Wilman (8/5): Very good -
- Cailin (10/5): Amazing location, amazing view, friendly staff and very clean rooms! We loved how conveniently located we were to the pi -
- Che (3/5): Not coming back - Good location Lousy breakfast. Ask for payment before arrival.
- Francisco (8/5): - Location and safety in the area.
- Nancy (10/5): Great little hotel! - Overall great location, friendly staff, walkable!
- Mary (10/5): - Great location... right in the heart of town. Walk everywhere! Clean and comfortable. Friendly (Spanish speaking) staff, some English.
- Mary (10/5): - Close to everything with the piers across the walkway from the hotel. Room was magnificent and clean.
- Kristine (9/5): Superb -
- Rob (10/5): Great lication - Lovely hotel, real friendly staff, spacious rooms. Great location
- Michelle (8/5): Lovely hotel - This hotel is in a great location. The cab from the airport was $3. It is on the Malecon and is very walk friendly. The breakfast is outside in front of the hotel and is very quick to receive. If you are going on an early tour they will leave a small bag for you with a sandwich, apple, juice box and cookies. There is water in the lobby to refill your bottles and tea available in the evening.
Ask about walking to Mann beach and there is a museum there as well.
Plenty of sea lions all around.

- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): - Nice economy hotel .My room looked right out on the ocean.
- Lucia (5/5): Location is great but thats about it. The breakfast is decent but they are not accommodating at all - The location is great, and the breakfast is a decent size. The facilities are pretty meh. The rooms are MEH
- Karen (7/5): Good - everything was great. breakfast was a nice bonus each morning. location was great located directly across from the warf.
- jintao (10/5): - Perfect location, just in front of the ferry port, but still quiet and no noisy. Hotel had very good condition, everything is as expected. Front desk had free tea and coffee whold day long. Restaurant had $1 for soft ice cream, but which is not as good as the one on multiple market. Room is big enough and bed is good. Not luxury but comfortable and convenience.
The town is very small, everywhere is in walking distance. airport is also only 15 minutes walking. Taxi is $1/p.p shared, or $5/p.car from airport to hotel, but $3/p.car from hotel to airport.
Highly recommended. Only thing I don't like is that they won't be able to be charged by Expedia, but via a 3rd party link, which make us feeling uncomfortable of the transaction safety.
Sea lion is the major residence here.
